1. അനന്തരം ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്യഹോവ നിന്നെ തന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകംചെയ്വാന് എന്നെ നിയോഗിച്ചുവല്ലോ; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഇപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേട്ടുകൊള്ക.

1. And Samuel said unto Saul, It was, me, Yahweh sent to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel, now, therefore, hearken thou to the voice of Yahweh's words.

2. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുയിസ്രായേല് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരുമ്പോള് വഴിയില്വെച്ചു അമാലേക് അവരെ ആക്രമിച്ചു അവരോടു ചെയ്തതിനെ ഞാന് കുറിച്ചുവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, I have well considered what Amalek did unto Israel how he lay in wait for him in the way, when he came up out of Egypt.

3. ആകയാല് നീ ചെന്നു അമാലേക്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചു അവര്ക്കുംള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കിക്കളക; അവരോടു കനിവു തോന്നരുതു; പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുട്ടികളെയും മുലകുടിക്കുന്നവരെയും കാള, ആടു, ഒട്ടകം, കഴുത എന്നിവയെയും സംഹരിച്ചുകളക.

3. Now, go and smite Amalek, and devote ye to destruction all that he hath, and spare him not, but thou shalt slay both man and woman, both child and suckling, both ox and sheep, both camel and ass.

4. എന്നാറെ ശൌല് ജനത്തെ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി തെലായീമില് വെച്ചു അവരെ എണ്ണി; യെഹൂദാഗോത്രക്കാരായ പതിനായിരം പേര് ഒഴികെ രണ്ടുലക്ഷം കാലാള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

4. So then Saul called together the people, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.

5. പിന്നെ ശൌല് അമാലേക്യരുടെ പ്രധാന നഗരംവരെ ചെന്നു തോട്ടിന്നരികെ പതിയിരിപ്പാക്കി.

5. And Saul came as far as the city of Amalek, and stirred up strife in the ravine.

6. എന്നാല് ശൌല് കേന്യരോടുഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ അമാലേക്യരോടുകൂടെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോകുവിന് ; യിസ്രായേല് മക്കള് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നപ്പോള് നിങ്ങള് അവര്ക്കും ദയചെയ്തുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ കേന്യര് അമാലേക്യരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.

6. Then said Saul unto the Kenites Go, depart, get you down out of the midst of the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them, yet, ye, dealt in lovingkindness, with all the sons of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed out of the midst of the Amalekites.

7. പിന്നെ ശൌല് ഹവീലാമുതല് മിസ്രയീമിന്നു കിഴക്കുള്ള ശൂര്വരെ അമാലേക്യരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.

7. And Saul smote Amalek, from Havilah, till thou enterest Shur, which is over against Egypt.

8. അമാലേക്യരുടെ രാജാവായ ആഗാഗിനെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിച്ചു, ജനങ്ങളെ ഒക്കെയും വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കി.

8. And he took Agag, king of Amalek, alive, but, all the people, devoted he to destruction at the edge of the sword.

9. എന്നാല് ശൌലും ജനവും ആഗാഗിനെയും ആടു, മാടു, തടിച്ചമൃഗം എന്നിവയില് മേത്തരമായവയെയും കുഞ്ഞാടുകളെയും ഉത്തമമായവയെ ഒക്കെയും നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കുവാന് മനസ്സില്ലാതെ ജീവനോടെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു; ഹീനവും നിസ്സാരവുമായവയെ ഒക്കെയും അവര് നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

9. But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep and the oxen and the lambs, also the fatlings, and all that was good, and would not devote them to destruction, but, all the cattle that was contemptible and diseased, that, devoted they to destruction.

10. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ശമൂവേലിന്നുണ്ടായതു എന്തെന്നാല്

10. Then came the word of Yahweh unto Samuel, saying

11. ഞാന് ശൌലിനെ രാജാവായി വാഴിച്ചതിനാല് എനിക്കു മനസ്താപമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് എന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ നിവൃത്തിച്ചതുമില്ല. ഇതിങ്കല് ശമൂവേലിന്നു വ്യസനമായി; അവന് രാത്രി മുഴുവനും യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

11. I am grieved that I made Saul to be king, for he hath turned back from following me, and, my words, hath he not established. And it was vexing to Samuel, so that he made outcry unto Yahweh, all the night.

12. ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനെ എതിരേല്പാന് അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റപ്പോള് ശൌല് കര്മ്മേലില് എത്തിയെന്നും ഒരു ജ്ഞാപകസ്തംഭം നാട്ടി ഘോഷയാത്ര കഴിച്ചു തിരിഞ്ഞു ഗില്ഗാലിലേക്കു പോയി എന്നും ശമൂവേലിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടി.

12. And Samuel rose early to meet Saul, in the morning, and it was told Samuel, saying Saul having come to Carmel, and lo! having set him up a sign, hath gone round, and passed over, and descended to Gilgal.

13. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കല് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ശൌല് അവനോടുയഹോവയാല് നീ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് ; ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന നിവര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. And Samuel came unto Saul, and Saul said unto him Blessed, be thou by Yahweh: I have established the word of Yahweh.

14. അതിന്നു ശമൂവേല്എന്റെ ചെവിയില് എത്തുന്ന ആടുകളുടെ ഈ കരച്ചലും ഞാന് കേള്ക്കുന്ന കാളകളുടെ മുക്കുറയും എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

14. And Samuel said, What then is this bleating of sheep, in mine ears, and the lowing of oxen, which I can hear?

15. അവയെ അമാലേക്യരുടെ പക്കല്നിന്നു അവര് കൊണ്ടുവന്നതാകുന്നു; ജനം ആടുകളിലും കാളകളിലും മേത്തരമായവയെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു യാഗംകഴിപ്പാന് ജീവനോടെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു; ശേഷമുള്ളവയെ ഞങ്ങള് നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു ശൌല് പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Then said Saul From the Amalekites, have they brought them in; in that the people spared the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto Yahweh thy God, but, the rest, have we devoted to destruction.

16. ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനോടുനില്ക്ക; യഹോവ ഈ കഴിഞ്ഞ രാത്രി എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു ഞാന് നിന്നെ അറിയിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവനോടുപറഞ്ഞാലും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. Then said Samuel unto Saul, Stay, and let me tell thee, that which Yahweh hath spoken unto me, this night. And he said to him Speak.

17. അപ്പോള് ശമൂവേല് പറഞ്ഞതുനിന്റെ സ്വന്തകാഴ്ചയില് നീ ചെറിയവനായിരുന്നിട്ടും യഹോവ നിന്നെ യിസ്രായേല് ഗോത്രങ്ങള്ക്കു തലവനാക്കുകയും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാവായി നിന്നെ അഭിഷേകം കഴിക്കയും ചെയ്തില്ലയോ?

17. And Samuel said, Was it not, when, little, thou wast in thine own eyes, that thou wast made, head of the tribes of Israel, and that Yahweh anointed thee to be king over Israel?

18. പിന്നെ യഹോവ നിന്നെ ഒരു വഴിക്കു അയച്ചുനീ ചെന്നു അമാലേക്യരായ പാപികളെ നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കുകയും അവര് നശിക്കുംവരെ അവരോടു പൊരുതുകയും ചെയ്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

18. So then Yahweh sent thee on a journey, and said Go, and devastate to destruction, the sinners the Amalekites, and make war against them, until they have consumed them.

19. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നീ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന അനുസരിക്കാതെ കൊള്ളെക്കു ചാടി യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായതു ചെയ്തതെന്തു?

19. Wherefore, then, didst thou not hearken unto the voice of Yahweh, but didst rush upon the spoil, and do that which was wrong in the sight of Yahweh?

20. ശൌല് ശമൂവേലിനോടുഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന അനുസരിച്ചു യഹോവ എന്നെ അയച്ചവഴിക്കു പോയി അമാലേക്രാജാവായ ആഗാഗിനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അമാലേക്യരെ നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

20. And Saul said unto Samuel As indeed I have hearkened unto the voice of Yahweh, and have been on the journey on which Yahweh sent me, and have brought in Agag, king of Amalek, and, the Amalekites, have I devoted to destruction.

21. എന്നാല് ജനം ശപഥാര്പ്പിതവസ്തുക്കളില് വിശേഷമായ ആടുമാടുകളെ കൊള്ളയില്നിന്നു എടുത്തു ഗില്ഗാലില് നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു യാഗം കഴിപ്പാന് കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. And the people took, of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things so devoted, to sacrifice unto Yahweh thy God, in Gilgal.

22. ശമൂവേല് പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവയുടെ കല്പന അനുസരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളും യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമാകുമോ? ഇതാ, അനുസരിക്കുന്നതു യാഗത്തെക്കാളും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുന്നതു മുട്ടാടുകളുടെ മേദസ്സിനെക്കാളും നല്ലതു.

22. Then said Samuel Doth that which is pleasing unto Yahweh consist in ascending-offerings and sacrifices, So much as in hearkening unto the voice of Yahweh? Lo! to hearken, is, better, than, sacrifice. And, to give heed, than, the fat of rams;

23. മത്സരം ആഭിചാരദോഷംപോലെയും ശാഠ്യം മിത്ഥ്യാപൂജയും വിഗ്രഹാരാധനയും പോലെയും ആകുന്നു; നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനത്തെ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് നിന്നെയും രാജസ്ഥാനത്തില്നിന്നു തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

23. For, as the sin of divination, is, rebelliousness, and, as transgression with household gods, is, stubbornness, Because thou hast rejected the word of Yahweh, therefore hath he rejected thee from being king.

24. ശൌല് ശമൂവേലിനോടുഞാന് ജനത്തെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവരുടെ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചതിനാല് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയും നിന്റെ വാക്കും ലംഘിച്ചു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. Then said Saul unto Samuel I have sinned; for I have transgressed the bidding of Yahweh, and thy words, for I feared the people, and hearkened unto their voice.

25. എങ്കിലും എന്റെ പാപം ക്ഷമിച്ചു ഞാന് യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. Now, therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may bow down unto Yahweh.

26. ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനോടുഞാന് പോരികയില്ല; നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനത്തെ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ നിന്നെയും യിസ്രായേലിലെ രാജസ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്നു തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not turn again with thee, Because thou hast rejected the word of Yahweh, therefore hath Yahweh rejected thee from being king over Israel.

27. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേല് പോകുവാന് തിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് അവന് അവന്റെ നിലയങ്കിയുടെ വിളുമ്പു പിടിച്ചു വലിച്ചു; അതു കീറിപ്പോയി.

27. And, when Samuel turned about to go away, then laid he hold of the skirt of his robe, and it was rent.

28. ശമൂവേല് അവനോടുയഹോവ ഇന്നു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജത്വം നിങ്കല് നിന്നു കീറി നിന്നെക്കാള് ഉത്തമനായ നിന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

28. And Samuel said unto him, Yahweh hath rent the kingdom of Israel from off thee, to-day, and will give it unto a neighbour of thine, who is better than thou.

29. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ മഹത്വമായവന് ഭോഷകു പറകയില്ല, അനുതപിക്കയുമില്ല; അനുതപിപ്പാന് അവന് മനുഷ്യനല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
എബ്രായർ 6:18

29. Moreover also, the Eminence of Israel, will not lie, neither will he repent, For no, iron of earth, is, he, to repent!

30. അപ്പോള് അവന് ഞാന് പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെയും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെയും മുമ്പാകെ ഇപ്പോള് എന്നെ മാനിച്ചു, ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നോടു കൂടെ പോരേണമേ എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

30. Then he said: I have sinned, Now, honour me, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, then will I bow down unto Yahweh thy God.

31. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു; ശൌല് യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

31. So then Samuel turned again, after Saul and Saul bowed down unto Yahweh.

32. അനന്തരം ശമൂവേല്അമാലേക്രാജാവായ ആഗാഗിനെ ഇവിടെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. ആഗാഗ് സന്തോഷഭാവത്തോടെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുമരണഭീതി നീങ്ങപ്പോയി എന്നു ആഗാഗ് പറഞ്ഞു.

32. Then said Samuel Bring ye near unto me Agag, king of Amalek, And Agag came unto him, in fetters. Then said Agag, Surely, terrible, is the bitterness of death!

33. നിന്റെ വാള് സ്ത്രീകളെ മക്കളില്ലാത്തവരാക്കിയതുപോലെ നിന്റെ അമ്മയും സ്ത്രീകളുടെ ഇടയില് മക്കളില്ലാത്തവളാകും എന്നു ശമൂവേല് പറഞ്ഞു, ഗില്ഗാലില്വെച്ചു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് ആഗാഗിനെ തുണ്ടംതുണ്ടമായി വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

33. And Samuel said, As women have been made childless by thy sword, So, childless among women, shall be, thine own mother. And Samuel cut Agag asunder before Yahweh, in Gilgal.

34. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേല് രാമയിലേക്കു പോയി; ശൌലും ശൌലിന്റെ ഗിബെയയില് അരമനയിലേക്കു പോയി.

34. Then Samuel departed unto Ramah, but, Saul, went up unto his own house, at Gibeah of Saul.

35. ശമൂവേല് ജീവപര്യന്തം ശൌലിനെ പിന്നെ കണ്ടില്ല; എങ്കിലും ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുഃഖിച്ചു; യഹോവയും താന് ശൌലിനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവാക്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു അനുതപിച്ചു.

35. And Samuel did no more see Saul, until the day of his death, for Samuel pined for Saul, but, Yahweh, was grieved that he had made Saul king over Israel.
