1. അനന്തരം ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്യഹോവ നിന്നെ തന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകംചെയ്വാന് എന്നെ നിയോഗിച്ചുവല്ലോ; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഇപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേട്ടുകൊള്ക.

1. And Samuel saith unto Saul, 'Me did Jehovah send to anoint thee for king over His people, over Israel; and now, hearken to the voice of the words of Jehovah:

2. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുയിസ്രായേല് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരുമ്പോള് വഴിയില്വെച്ചു അമാലേക് അവരെ ആക്രമിച്ചു അവരോടു ചെയ്തതിനെ ഞാന് കുറിച്ചുവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. 'Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, I have looked after that which Amalek did to Israel, that which he laid for him in the way in his going up out of Egypt.

3. ആകയാല് നീ ചെന്നു അമാലേക്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചു അവര്ക്കുംള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കിക്കളക; അവരോടു കനിവു തോന്നരുതു; പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുട്ടികളെയും മുലകുടിക്കുന്നവരെയും കാള, ആടു, ഒട്ടകം, കഴുത എന്നിവയെയും സംഹരിച്ചുകളക.

3. Now, go, and thou hast smitten Amalek, and devoted all that it hath, and thou hast no pity on it, and hast put to death from man unto woman, from infant unto suckling, from ox unto sheep, from camel unto ass.'

4. എന്നാറെ ശൌല് ജനത്തെ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി തെലായീമില് വെച്ചു അവരെ എണ്ണി; യെഹൂദാഗോത്രക്കാരായ പതിനായിരം പേര് ഒഴികെ രണ്ടുലക്ഷം കാലാള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

4. And Saul summoneth the people, and inspecteth them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand [are] men of Judah.

5. പിന്നെ ശൌല് അമാലേക്യരുടെ പ്രധാന നഗരംവരെ ചെന്നു തോട്ടിന്നരികെ പതിയിരിപ്പാക്കി.

5. And Saul cometh in unto a city of Amalek, and layeth wait in a valley;

6. എന്നാല് ശൌല് കേന്യരോടുഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ അമാലേക്യരോടുകൂടെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോകുവിന് ; യിസ്രായേല് മക്കള് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നപ്പോള് നിങ്ങള് അവര്ക്കും ദയചെയ്തുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ കേന്യര് അമാലേക്യരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.

6. and Saul saith unto the Kenite, 'Go, turn aside, go down from the midst of Amalek, lest I consume thee with it, and thou didst kindness with all the sons of Israel, in their going up out of Egypt;' and the Kenite turneth aside from the midst of Amalek.

7. പിന്നെ ശൌല് ഹവീലാമുതല് മിസ്രയീമിന്നു കിഴക്കുള്ള ശൂര്വരെ അമാലേക്യരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.

7. And Saul smiteth Amalek from Havilah -- thy going in to Shur, which [is] on the front of Egypt,

8. അമാലേക്യരുടെ രാജാവായ ആഗാഗിനെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിച്ചു, ജനങ്ങളെ ഒക്കെയും വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കി.

8. and he catcheth Agag king of Amalek alive, and all the people he hath devoted by the mouth of the sword;

9. എന്നാല് ശൌലും ജനവും ആഗാഗിനെയും ആടു, മാടു, തടിച്ചമൃഗം എന്നിവയില് മേത്തരമായവയെയും കുഞ്ഞാടുകളെയും ഉത്തമമായവയെ ഒക്കെയും നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കുവാന് മനസ്സില്ലാതെ ജീവനോടെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു; ഹീനവും നിസ്സാരവുമായവയെ ഒക്കെയും അവര് നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

9. and Saul hath pity -- also the people -- on Agag, and on the best of the flock, and of the herd, and of the seconds, and on the lambs, and on all that [is] good, and have not been willing to devote them; and all the work, despised and wasted -- it they devoted.

10. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ശമൂവേലിന്നുണ്ടായതു എന്തെന്നാല്

10. And the word of Jehovah is unto Samuel, saying,

11. ഞാന് ശൌലിനെ രാജാവായി വാഴിച്ചതിനാല് എനിക്കു മനസ്താപമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് എന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ നിവൃത്തിച്ചതുമില്ല. ഇതിങ്കല് ശമൂവേലിന്നു വ്യസനമായി; അവന് രാത്രി മുഴുവനും യഹോവയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

11. 'I have repented that I caused Saul to reign for king, for he hath turned back from after Me, and My words he hath not performed;' and it is displeasing to Samuel, and he crieth unto Jehovah all the night.

12. ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനെ എതിരേല്പാന് അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റപ്പോള് ശൌല് കര്മ്മേലില് എത്തിയെന്നും ഒരു ജ്ഞാപകസ്തംഭം നാട്ടി ഘോഷയാത്ര കഴിച്ചു തിരിഞ്ഞു ഗില്ഗാലിലേക്കു പോയി എന്നും ശമൂവേലിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടി.

12. And Samuel riseth early to meet Saul in the morning, and it is declared to Samuel, saying, 'Saul hath come in to Carmel, and lo, he is setting up to himself a monument, and goeth round, and passeth over, and goeth down to Gilgal.'

13. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കല് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ശൌല് അവനോടുയഹോവയാല് നീ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് ; ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന നിവര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. And Samuel cometh in unto Saul, and Saul saith to him, 'Blessed [art] thou of Jehovah; I have performed the word of Jehovah.'

14. അതിന്നു ശമൂവേല്എന്റെ ചെവിയില് എത്തുന്ന ആടുകളുടെ ഈ കരച്ചലും ഞാന് കേള്ക്കുന്ന കാളകളുടെ മുക്കുറയും എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

14. And Samuel saith, 'And what [is] the noise of this flock in mine ears -- and the noise of the herd which I am hearing?'

15. അവയെ അമാലേക്യരുടെ പക്കല്നിന്നു അവര് കൊണ്ടുവന്നതാകുന്നു; ജനം ആടുകളിലും കാളകളിലും മേത്തരമായവയെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു യാഗംകഴിപ്പാന് ജീവനോടെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു; ശേഷമുള്ളവയെ ഞങ്ങള് നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു ശൌല് പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And Saul saith, 'From Amalek they have brought them, because the people had pity on the best of the flock, and of the herd, in order to sacrifice to Jehovah thy God, and the remnant we have devoted.'

16. ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനോടുനില്ക്ക; യഹോവ ഈ കഴിഞ്ഞ രാത്രി എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു ഞാന് നിന്നെ അറിയിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവനോടുപറഞ്ഞാലും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. And Samuel saith unto Saul, 'Desist, and I declare to thee that which Jehovah hath spoken unto me to-night;' and he saith to him, 'Speak.'

17. അപ്പോള് ശമൂവേല് പറഞ്ഞതുനിന്റെ സ്വന്തകാഴ്ചയില് നീ ചെറിയവനായിരുന്നിട്ടും യഹോവ നിന്നെ യിസ്രായേല് ഗോത്രങ്ങള്ക്കു തലവനാക്കുകയും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാവായി നിന്നെ അഭിഷേകം കഴിക്കയും ചെയ്തില്ലയോ?

17. And Samuel saith, 'Art not thou, if thou [art] little in thine own eyes, head of the tribes of Israel? and Jehovah doth anoint thee for king over Israel,

18. പിന്നെ യഹോവ നിന്നെ ഒരു വഴിക്കു അയച്ചുനീ ചെന്നു അമാലേക്യരായ പാപികളെ നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കുകയും അവര് നശിക്കുംവരെ അവരോടു പൊരുതുകയും ചെയ്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

18. and Jehovah sendeth thee in the way, and saith, Go, and thou hast devoted the sinners, the Amalekite, and fought against them till they are consumed;

19. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നീ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന അനുസരിക്കാതെ കൊള്ളെക്കു ചാടി യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായതു ചെയ്തതെന്തു?

19. and why hast thou not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah -- and dost fly unto the spoil, and dost do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah?'

20. ശൌല് ശമൂവേലിനോടുഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന അനുസരിച്ചു യഹോവ എന്നെ അയച്ചവഴിക്കു പോയി അമാലേക്രാജാവായ ആഗാഗിനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അമാലേക്യരെ നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

20. And Saul saith unto Samuel, 'Because -- I have hearkened to the voice of Jehovah, and I go in the way which Jehovah hath sent me, and bring in Agag king of Amalek, and Amalek I have devoted;

21. എന്നാല് ജനം ശപഥാര്പ്പിതവസ്തുക്കളില് വിശേഷമായ ആടുമാടുകളെ കൊള്ളയില്നിന്നു എടുത്തു ഗില്ഗാലില് നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു യാഗം കഴിപ്പാന് കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. and the people taketh of the spoil of the flock and herd, the first part of the devoted thing, for sacrifice to Jehovah thy God in Gilgal.'

22. ശമൂവേല് പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവയുടെ കല്പന അനുസരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളും യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമാകുമോ? ഇതാ, അനുസരിക്കുന്നതു യാഗത്തെക്കാളും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുന്നതു മുട്ടാടുകളുടെ മേദസ്സിനെക്കാളും നല്ലതു.
മർക്കൊസ് 12:32-33

22. And Samuel saith, 'Hath Jehovah had delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices as [in] hearkening to the voice of Jehovah? lo, hearkening than sacrifice is better; to give attention than fat of rams;

23. മത്സരം ആഭിചാരദോഷംപോലെയും ശാഠ്യം മിത്ഥ്യാപൂജയും വിഗ്രഹാരാധനയും പോലെയും ആകുന്നു; നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനത്തെ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് നിന്നെയും രാജസ്ഥാനത്തില്നിന്നു തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

23. for a sin of divination [is] rebellion, and iniquity and teraphim [is] stubbornness; because thou hast rejected the word of Jehovah, He also doth reject thee from [being] king.'

24. ശൌല് ശമൂവേലിനോടുഞാന് ജനത്തെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവരുടെ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചതിനാല് യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയും നിന്റെ വാക്കും ലംഘിച്ചു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. And Saul saith unto Samuel, 'I have sinned, for I passed over the command of Jehovah, and thy words; because I have feared the people, I also hearken to their voice;

25. എങ്കിലും എന്റെ പാപം ക്ഷമിച്ചു ഞാന് യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. and now, bear, I pray thee, with my sin, and turn back with me, and I bow myself to Jehovah.'

26. ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനോടുഞാന് പോരികയില്ല; നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനത്തെ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ നിന്നെയും യിസ്രായേലിലെ രാജസ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്നു തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. And Samuel saith unto Saul, 'I do not turn back with thee; for thou hast rejected the word of Jehovah, and Jehovah doth reject thee from being king over Israel.'

27. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേല് പോകുവാന് തിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് അവന് അവന്റെ നിലയങ്കിയുടെ വിളുമ്പു പിടിച്ചു വലിച്ചു; അതു കീറിപ്പോയി.

27. And Samuel turneth round to go, and he layeth hold on the skirt of his upper robe -- and it is rent!

28. ശമൂവേല് അവനോടുയഹോവ ഇന്നു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജത്വം നിങ്കല് നിന്നു കീറി നിന്നെക്കാള് ഉത്തമനായ നിന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

28. And Samuel saith unto him, 'Jehovah hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee to-day, and given it to thy neighbour who is better than thou;

29. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ മഹത്വമായവന് ഭോഷകു പറകയില്ല, അനുതപിക്കയുമില്ല; അനുതപിപ്പാന് അവന് മനുഷ്യനല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
എബ്രായർ 6:18

29. and also, the Pre-eminence of Israel doth not lie nor repent, for He [is] not a man to be penitent.'

30. അപ്പോള് അവന് ഞാന് പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെയും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെയും മുമ്പാകെ ഇപ്പോള് എന്നെ മാനിച്ചു, ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നോടു കൂടെ പോരേണമേ എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

30. And he saith, 'I have sinned; now, honour me, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn back with me; and I have bowed myself to Jehovah thy God.'

31. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു; ശൌല് യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

31. And Samuel turneth back after Saul, and Saul boweth himself to Jehovah;

32. അനന്തരം ശമൂവേല്അമാലേക്രാജാവായ ആഗാഗിനെ ഇവിടെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. ആഗാഗ് സന്തോഷഭാവത്തോടെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുമരണഭീതി നീങ്ങപ്പോയി എന്നു ആഗാഗ് പറഞ്ഞു.

32. and Samuel saith, 'Bring ye nigh unto me Agag king of Amalek,' and Agag cometh unto him daintily, and Agag saith, 'Surely the bitterness of death hath turned aside.'

33. നിന്റെ വാള് സ്ത്രീകളെ മക്കളില്ലാത്തവരാക്കിയതുപോലെ നിന്റെ അമ്മയും സ്ത്രീകളുടെ ഇടയില് മക്കളില്ലാത്തവളാകും എന്നു ശമൂവേല് പറഞ്ഞു, ഗില്ഗാലില്വെച്ചു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് ആഗാഗിനെ തുണ്ടംതുണ്ടമായി വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

33. And Samuel saith, 'As thy sword bereaved women -- so is thy mother bereaved above women;' and Samuel heweth Agag in pieces before Jehovah in Gilgal.

34. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേല് രാമയിലേക്കു പോയി; ശൌലും ശൌലിന്റെ ഗിബെയയില് അരമനയിലേക്കു പോയി.

34. And Samuel goeth to Ramath, and Saul hath gone unto his house -- to Gibeah of Saul.

35. ശമൂവേല് ജീവപര്യന്തം ശൌലിനെ പിന്നെ കണ്ടില്ല; എങ്കിലും ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുഃഖിച്ചു; യഹോവയും താന് ശൌലിനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവാക്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു അനുതപിച്ചു.

35. And Samuel hath not added to see Saul till the day of his death, for Samuel mourned for Saul, and Jehovah repented that He had caused Saul to reign over Israel.
