1. അനന്തരം യാക്കോബ് തലപൊക്കി നോക്കി, ഏശാവും അവനോടുകൂടെ നാനൂറു ആളും വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു; തന്റെ മക്കളെ ലേയയുടെ അടുക്കലും റാഹേലിന്റെ അടുക്കലും രണ്ടു ദാസിമാരുടെ അടുക്കലും വിഭാഗിച്ചു നിര്ത്തി.

1. Iacob lift vp his eyes, & sawe his brother Esau comynge with foure hundreth men: and he deuyded his children vnto Lea vnto Rachel, and to both the maydes,

2. അവന് ദാസിമാരെയും അവരുടെ മക്കളെയും മുമ്പായും ലേയെയും അവളുടെ മക്കളെയും പിന്നാലെയും റാഹേലിനെയും യോസേഫിനെയും ഒടുക്കമായും നിര്ത്തി.

2. and set the maydens with their children before, and Lea with hir childre after, and Rachel with Ioseph hynder most.

3. അവന് അവര്ക്കും മുമ്പായി കടന്നു ഏഴു പ്രാവശ്യം സാഷ്ടാംഗം നമസ്കരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു തന്റെ സഹോദരനോടു അടുത്തുചെന്നു.

3. And he wente before them, and bowed him self to the grounde seuen tymes, tyll he came to his brother.

4. ഏശാവ് ഔടിവന്നു അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു, ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ കഴുത്തില് വീണു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു, രണ്ടുപേരും കരഞ്ഞു.

4. But Esau ranne to mete him, and enbraced him, and fell aboute his neck, & kyssed him, and wepte,

5. പിന്നെ അവന് തലപൊക്കി സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും കണ്ടുനിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള ഇവര് ആര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചുതിന്നുദൈവം അടിയന്നു നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന മക്കള് എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

5. and lift vp his eyes, and sawe the wyues with the children, and sayde: What are these with the? He answered: They are the children, which God hath geuen vnto thy seruaunt.

6. അപ്പോള് ദാസിമാരും മക്കളും അടുത്തുവന്നു നമസ്കരിച്ചു;

6. And the maydens came forth with their children, and dyd their obeysaunce vnto him.

7. ലേയയും മക്കളും അടുത്തുവന്നു നമസ്കരിച്ചു; ഒടുവില് യോസേഫും റാഹേലും അടുത്തുവന്നു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

7. Lea came forth also with hir childre, and kneled vnto him. Afterwarde came Ioseph and Rachel forth, and kneled vnto him likewyse.

8. ഞാന് വഴിക്കു കണ്ട ആ കൂട്ടമൊക്കെയും എന്തിന്നു എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുയജമാനന്നു എന്നോടു കൃപതോന്നേണ്ടതിന്നു ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And he sayde: What meanest thou wt all the droue that I met? He answered: that I might fynde grace in the sight of my lorde,

9. അതിന്നു ഏശാവ്സഹോദരാ, എനിക്കു വേണ്ടുന്നതു ഉണ്ടു; നിനക്കുള്ളതു നിനക്കു ഇരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Esau sayde: I haue ynough my brother, kepe that thou hast.

10. അതിന്നു യാക്കോബ്അങ്ങനെയല്ല, എന്നോടു കൃപ ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് എന്റെ സമ്മാനം എന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വാങ്ങേണമേ; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുഖം കാണുന്നതുപോലെ ഞാന് നിന്റെ മുഖം കാണുകയും നിനക്കു എന്നോടു ദയ തോന്നുകയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ;

10. Iacob answered: Oh nay, but yf I haue founde grace in yi sight, receaue my present of my hande (for I sawe thy face, as though I had sene the face of God) and be at one with me.

11. ഞാന് അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കാഴ്ച വാങ്ങേണമേ; ദൈവം എന്നോടു കൃപ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു വേണ്ടുവോളം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവന് അതു വാങ്ങി.

11. Take this present in good worth, that I haue brought ye, for God hath geuen it me, & I haue ynough of all thinges. So he compelled him to take it.

12. പിന്നെ അവന് നാം പ്രയാണംചെയ്തു പോക; ഞാന് നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി നടക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And he sayde: Let vs go on and take oure iourney, I wyll go in thy company.

13. അതിന്നു അവന് അവനോടുകുട്ടികള് നന്നാ ഇളയവര് എന്നും കുറവുള്ള ആടുകളും കന്നുകാലികളും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നും യജമാനന് അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; അവയെ ഒരു ദിവസം അധികമായി ഔടിച്ചാല് കൂട്ടമെല്ലാം ചത്തുപോകും.

13. But he sayde vnto him: My lorde, thou knowest that I haue tender children by me, and small and greate catell also, which are yet but yonge: yf they shulde be dryue ouer in one daye, the whole flocke wolde dye.

14. യജമാനന് അടിയന്നു മുമ്പായി പോയാലും; എന്റെ കൂടെയുള്ള കന്നുകാലികളുടെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളുടെയും പ്രാപ്തിക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ഞാന് സാവധാനത്തില് അവയെ നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടു സേയീരില് യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Let my lorde go on before his seruaut. I wyll dryue after fayre and softly, (there after as the catell & the children can go,) tyll I come to my lorde in Seir.

15. എന്റെ ആളുകളില് ചിലരെ ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് നിര്ത്തട്ടെ എന്നു ഏശാവു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഎന്തിന്നു? യജമാനന്റെ കൃപയുണ്ടായാല് മതി എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Esau sayde: Yet wil I leaue some of my people with the. He answered: What nede is it? Let me but onely fynde grace in the sight of my lorde.

16. അങ്ങനെ ഏശാവ് അന്നു തന്റെ വഴിക്കു സേയീരിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

16. So Esau departed againe the same daye towarde Seir,

17. യാക്കോബോ സുക്കോത്തിന്നു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു; തനിക്കു ഒരു വീടു പണിതു; കന്നുകാലിക്കൂട്ടത്തിന്നു തൊഴുത്തുകളും കെട്ടി; അതു കൊണ്ടു ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു സുക്കോത്ത് എന്നു പേര് പറയുന്നു.

17. and Iacob toke his iourney towarde Sucoth, and buylded him an house, and made tetes for his catell. Therfore is the place called Sucoth.

18. യാക്കോബ് പദ്ദന് -അരാമില്നിന്നു വന്നശേഷം കനാന് ദേശത്തിലെ ശേഖേംപട്ടണത്തില് സമാധാനത്തോടെ എത്തി പട്ടണത്തിന്നരികെ പാളയമടിച്ചു.

18. Afterwarde came Iacob peaceably vnto the cite of Sichem, which lyeth in ye lande of Canaan, after that he was come agayne out of Mesopotamia, and pitched before the cite,

19. താന് കൂടാരമടിച്ച നിലം ശെഖേമിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ഹമോരിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരോടു നൂറു വെള്ളിക്കാശിന്നു വാങ്ങി.

19. and bought a pece of londe of the children of Hemor ye father of Sichem for an hundreth pens. There pitched he his tent,

20. അവിടെ അവന് ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു, അതിന്നു ഏല്-എലോഹേ-യിസ്രായേല് എന്നു പേര് ഇട്ടു.

20. and there he set vp an altare, and called vpon the name of the mightie God of Israel.
