1. അനന്തരം യോസേഫിന്നുനിന്റെ അപ്പന് ദീനമായി കിടക്കുന്നു എന്നു വര്ത്തമാനം വന്നു; ഉടനെ അവന് മനശ്ശെ, എഫ്രയീം എന്ന രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു

1. And it came to pass after these things that one told Joseph, 'Behold, thy father is sick'; and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

2. നിന്റെ മകന് യോസേഫ് ഇതാവരുന്നു എന്നു യാക്കോബിനെ അറിയിച്ചു; അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല് തന്നെത്താന് ഉറപ്പിച്ചു കട്ടിലിന്മേല് ഇരുന്നു.

2. And one told Jacob and said, 'Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee'; and Israel strengthened himself and sat upon the bed.

3. യാക്കോബ് യോസേഫിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുസര്വ്വശക്തിയുള്ള ദൈവം കനാന് ദേശത്തിലെ ലൂസ്സില്വെച്ചു എനിക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു,

3. And Jacob said unto Joseph, 'God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me

4. എന്നോടുഞാന് നിന്നെ സന്താനപുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവനാക്കി പെരുക്കി നിന്നെ ജനസമൂഹമാക്കുകയും നിന്റെ ശേഷം നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു ഈ ദേശം ശാശ്വതാവകാശമായി കൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

4. and said unto me, `Behold, I will make thee fruitful and multiply thee; and I will make of thee a multitude of people, and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.'

5. മിസ്രയീമില് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഞാന് വരുംമുമ്പെ നിനക്കു മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുവെച്ചു ജനിച്ച രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരായ മനശ്ശെയും എഫ്രയീമും എനിക്കുള്ളവര് ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ; രൂബേനും ശിമെയോനും എന്നപോലെ അവര് എനിക്കുള്ളവരായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

5. And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, who were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

6. ഇവരുടെ ശേഷം നിനക്കു ജനിക്കുന്ന സന്തതിയോ നിനക്കുള്ളവരായിരിക്കട്ടെ; അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശത്തില് തങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ പേരിന് പ്രകാരം വിളിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ.

6. And thy issue whom thou begettest after them shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.

7. ഞാന് പദ്ദനില്നിന്നു വരുമ്പോള്, കനാന് ദേശത്തു എഫ്രാത്തില് എത്തുവാന് അല്പം ദൂരം മാത്രമുള്ളപ്പോള് വഴിയില്വെച്ചു റാഹേല് മരിച്ചു; ഞാന് അവളെ അവിടെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെം എന്ന എഫ്രാത്തിന്നുള്ള വഴിയരികെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

7. And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died beside me in the land of Canaan on the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath; and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath' (the same is Bethlehem).

8. യിസ്രായേല് യോസേഫിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ കണ്ടുപ്പോള്ഇവര് ആരെന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

8. And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, 'Who are these?'

9. ദൈവം ഇവിടെ എനിക്കു തന്നിട്ടുള്ള പുത്രന്മാര് എന്നു യോസേഫ് അപ്പനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവരെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരിക; ഞാന് അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

9. And Joseph said unto his father, 'They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place.' And he said, 'Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.'

10. എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കണ്ണു വയസ്സുകൊണ്ടു മങ്ങി കാണ്മാന് വഹിയാതിരുന്നു; അവരെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നപ്പോള് അവന് അവരെ ചുംബിച്ചു ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്തു.

10. (Now the eyes of Israel were dim with age, so that he could not see.) And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them and embraced them.

11. യിസ്രായേല് യോസേഫിനോടുനിന്റെ മുഖം കാണുമെന്നു ഞാന് വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല; എന്നാല് നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെയും കാണ്മാന് ദൈവം എനിക്കു സംഗതിവരുത്തിയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. And Israel said unto Joseph, 'I had not thought to see thy face; and lo, God hath shown me also thy seed.'

12. യോസേഫ് അവരെ അവന്റെ മുഴങ്കാലുകള്ക്കിടയില് നിന്നു മാറ്റി സാഷ്ടാംഗം നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

12. And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.

13. പിന്നെ യോസേഫ് എഫ്രയീമിനെ വലങ്കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഇടങ്കൈകൂ നേരെയും മനശ്ശെയെ ഇടങ്കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ വലങ്കൈകൂ നേരെയുമായി ഇങ്ങനെ രണ്ടുപേരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.

13. And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.

14. യിസ്രായേല് വലങ്കൈ നീട്ടി ഇളയവനായ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ തലയിലും ഇടങ്കൈ മൂത്തവനായ മനശ്ശെയുടെ തലയിലുമായി അങ്ങനെ തന്റെ കൈകളെ പിണെച്ചുവെച്ചു.

14. And Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

15. പിന്നെ അവന് യോസേഫിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചുഎന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരായ അബ്രാഹാമും യിശ്ഹാക്കും ഭജിച്ചുപോന്ന ദൈവം, ഞാന് ജനിച്ച നാള്മുതല് ഇന്നുവരെയും എന്നെ പുലര്ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവം,

15. And he blessed Joseph and said, 'God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who fed me all my life long unto this day,

16. എന്നെ സകലദോഷങ്ങളില്നിന്നും വിടുവിച്ച ദൂതന് ഈ കുട്ടികളെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; എന്റെ പേരും എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെയും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെയും പേരും ഇവരില് നിലനിലക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; അവര് ഭൂമിയില് കൂട്ടമായി വര്ദ്ധിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. the Angel who redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.'

17. അപ്പന് വലങ്കൈ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ തലയില്വെച്ചു എന്നു യോസേഫ് കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവന്നു അനിഷ്ടം തോന്നി; അപ്പന്റെ കൈ എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ തലയില്നിന്നു മനശ്ശെയുടെ തലയില് മാറ്റിവെപ്പാന് പിടിച്ചു.

17. And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him; and he held up his father's hand to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.

18. യോസേഫ് അപ്പനോടുഅങ്ങനെയല്ല, എന്റെ അപ്പാ; ഇവനല്ലോ ആദ്യജാതന് ; ഇവന്റെ തലയില് വലങ്കൈ വെക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And Joseph said unto his father, 'Not so, my father, for this is the firstborn. Put thy right hand upon his head.'

19. എന്നാല് അവന്റെ അപ്പന് സമ്മതിക്കാതെ എനിക്കു അറിയാം; മകനേ, എനിക്കു അറിയാം; ഇവനും ഒരു വലിയ ജനമായിത്തീരും, ഇവനും വര്ദ്ധിക്കും; എങ്കിലും അനുജന് അവനെക്കാള് അധികം വര്ദ്ധിക്കും; അവന്റെ സന്തതി ജനസമൂഹമായ്തീരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And his father refused and said, 'I know it, my son, I know it. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great; but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.'

20. അങ്ങനെ അവന് അന്നു അവരെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചുദൈവം നിന്നെ എഫ്രയീമിനെയും മനശ്ശെയെയുംപോലെ ആക്കുമാറാകട്ട എന്നു യിസ്രായേല്യര് നിന്റെ പേര് ചൊല്ലി അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും. എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു എഫ്രയീമിനെ മനശ്ശെക്കു മുമ്പാക്കി.

20. And he blessed them that day, saying, 'In thee shall Israel bless, saying, `God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh.'' And he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

21. യോസേഫിനോടു യിസ്രായേല് പറഞ്ഞതുഇതാ, ഞാന് മരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവം നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു നിങ്ങളെ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദേശത്തേക്കു മടക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോകും.

21. And Israel said unto Joseph, 'Behold, I die; but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.

22. എന്റെ വാളും വില്ലുംകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അമോര്യ്യരുടെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു പിടിച്ചടക്കിയ മലഞ്ചരിവു ഞാന് നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഔഹരിയില് കവിഞ്ഞതായി നിനക്കു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.'
