1. അരാമും യിസ്രായേലും മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം തമ്മില് യുദ്ധം കൂടാതെ പാര്ത്തു.

1. They continued three years without war between Aram and Yisra'el.

2. മൂന്നാം ആണ്ടിലോ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

2. It happened in the third year, that Yehoshafat the king of Yehudah came down to the king of Yisra'el.

3. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്ത് നമുക്കുള്ളതെന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നുവോ? നാം അതിനെ അരാംരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു പിടിക്കാതെ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. The king of Yisra'el said to his servants, 'You know that Ramot-Gil`ad is ours, and we are still, and don't take it out of the hand of the king of Aram?'

4. അവന് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുനീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഗിലെയാദിലെരാമോത്തില് യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോരുമോ? എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനോടുഞാനും നീയും എന്റെ ജനവും നിന്റെ ജനവും എന്റെ കുതിരകളും നിന്റെ കുതിരകളും ഒരുപോലെയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. He said to Yehoshafat, Will you go with me to battle to Ramot-Gil`ad? Yehoshafat said to the king of Yisra'el, I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.

5. എന്നാല് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനോടുഇന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിച്ചാലും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Yehoshafat said to the king of Yisra'el, Please inquire first for the word of the LORD.

6. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു ഏകദേശം നാനൂറു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി അവരോടുഞാന് ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോകയോ പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്തു വേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവര് പുറപ്പെടുക; കര്ത്താവു അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Then the king of Yisra'el gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, Shall I go against Ramot-Gil`ad to battle, or shall I forbear? They said, Go up; for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.

7. എന്നാല് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത്നാം അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകനായിട്ടു ഇവിടെ ഇനി ആരും ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

7. But Yehoshafat said, Isn't there here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we may inquire of him?

8. അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുനാം യഹോവയോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഇനി യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവു എന്നൊരുത്തന് ഉണ്ടു. എന്നാല് അവന് എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ഗണമല്ല ദോഷം തന്നേ പ്രവചിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു അവനോടു ഇഷ്ടമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. രാജാവു അങ്ങനെ പറയരുതേ എന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു.

8. The king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, Mikhayahu the son of Yimlah: but I hate him; for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. Yehoshafat said, 'Don't let the king say so.'

9. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനെ വിളിച്ചു, യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവെ വേഗത്തില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

9. Then the king of Yisra'el called an officer, and said, Get quickly Mikhayahu the son of Yimlah.

10. യിസ്രായേല് രാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു ശമര്യയുടെ പടിവാതില് പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കല് ഒരു വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാര് ഒക്കെയും അവരുടെ സന്നിധിയില് പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

10. Now the king of Yisra'el and Yehoshafat the king of Yehudah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Shomron; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

11. കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു തനിക്കു ഇരിമ്പു കൊണ്ടു കൊമ്പു ഉണ്ടാക്കിഇവകൊണ്ടു നീ അരാമ്യരെ അവര് ഒടുങ്ങുംവരെ കുത്തിക്കളയും എന്നിപ്രകാരം യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. Tzidkiyahu the son of Kena`anah made him horns of iron, and said, Thus says the LORD, With these shall you push the Aram, until they be consumed.

12. പ്രവാചകന്മാരൊക്കെയും അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ പ്രവചിച്ചുഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെടുക; നീ കൃതാര്ത്ഥനാകും; യഹോവ അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. All the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramot-Gil`ad, and prosper; for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.

13. മീഖായാവെ വിളിപ്പാന് പോയ ദൂതന് അവനോടുനോകൂ, പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ വാക്കുകള് ഒരുപോലെ രാജാവിന്നു ഗുണമായിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ വാക്കും അവരില് ഒരുത്തന്റേതുപോലെ ഇരിക്കേണം; നീയും ഗുണമായി പറയേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. The messenger who went to call Mikhayahu spoke to him, saying, See now, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth: please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak you good.

14. അതിന്നു മീഖായാവുയഹോവയാണ, യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു തന്നേ ഞാന് പ്രസ്താവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Mikhayahu said, As the LORD lives, what the LORD says to me, that will I speak.

15. അവന് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള് രാജാവു അവനോടുമീഖായാവേ, ഞങ്ങള് ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോകയോ പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്തു വേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവന് പുറപ്പെടുവിന് ; നിങ്ങള് കൃതാര്ത്ഥരാകും; യഹോവ അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. When he was come to the king, the king said to him, Mikhayahu, shall we go to Ramot-Gil`ad to battle, or shall we forbear? He answered him, Go up and prosper; and the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.

16. രാജാവു അവനോടുനീ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് സത്യമല്ലാതെ യാതൊന്നും എന്നോടു പറയരുതെന്നും എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം ഞാന് നിന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറയേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

16. The king said to him, How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?

17. അതിന്നു അവന് ഇടയനില്ലാത്ത ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ യിസ്രായേല് ഒക്കെയും പര്വ്വതങ്ങളില് ചിതറിയിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് കണ്ടു; അപ്പോള് യഹോവഇവര്ക്കും നാഥനില്ല; അവര് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകട്ടെ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. He said, I saw all Yisra'el scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return every man to his house in shalom.

18. അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുഇവന് എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ദോഷമല്ലാതെ ഗുണം പ്രവചിക്കയില്ലെന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. The king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, Didn't I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?

19. അതിന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്നാല് നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേള്ക്കയഹോവ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നതും സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലെ സൈന്യം ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വലത്തും ഇടത്തും നിലക്കുന്നതും ഞാന് കണ്ടു.

19. Mikhayahu said, Therefore hear you the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

20. ആഹാബ് ചെന്നു ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തില്വെച്ചു പട്ടുപോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ ആര് വശീകരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഒരുത്തന് ഇങ്ങനെയും ഒരുത്തന് അങ്ങനെയും പറഞ്ഞു.

20. The LORD said, Who shall entice Ach'av, that he may go up and fall at Ramot-Gil`ad? One said on this manner; and another said on that manner.

21. എന്നാറെ ഒരു ആത്മാവു മുമ്പോട്ടു വന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് നിന്നുഞാന് അവനെ വശീകരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. There came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him.

22. ഏതിനാല് എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ സകല പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും വായില് ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ആത്മാവായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ അവനെ വശീകരിക്കും, നിനക്കും സാധിക്കും; നീ ചെന്നു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്ക എന്നു അവന് കല്പിച്ചു.

22. The LORD said to him, 'How?' He said, 'I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' He said, 'You shall entice him, and shall prevail also: go forth, and do so.'

23. ആകയാല് ഇതാ, യഹോവ ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ നിന്റെ ഈ സകലപ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും വായില് കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു അനര്ത്ഥം കല്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and the LORD has spoken evil concerning you.

24. അപ്പോള് കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു അടുത്തുചെന്നു മീഖായാവിന്റെ ചെകിട്ടത്തു അടിച്ചുനിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്വാന് യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു എന്നെ വിട്ടു ഏതു വഴിയായി കടന്നുവന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

24. Then Tzidkiyahu the son of Kena`anah came near, and struck Mikhayahu on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak to you?

25. അതിന്നു മീഖായാവുനീ ഒളിപ്പാനായിട്ടു അറ തേടി നടക്കുന്ന ദിവസത്തില് നീ കാണും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. Mikhayahu said, Behold, you shall see on that day, when you shall go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.

26. അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു പറഞ്ഞതുമീഖായാവെ പിടിച്ചു നഗരാധിപതിയായ ആമോന്റെയും രാജകുമാരനായ യോവാശിന്റെയും അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ഇവനെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് ആക്കി,

26. The king of Yisra'el said, Take Mikhayahu, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Yo'ash the king's son;

27. ഞാന് സമാധാനത്തോടെ വരുവോളം ഞെരുക്കത്തിന്റെ അപ്പവും ഞെരുക്കത്തിന്റെ വെള്ളവും കൊടുത്തു പോഷിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവരോടു പറക.

27. and say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in shalom.

28. അതിന്നു മീഖായാവുനീ സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിവരുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില് യഹോവ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സകലജാതികളുമായുള്ളോരേ, കേട്ടുകൊള്വിന് എന്നും അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Mikhayahu said, If you return at all in shalom, the LORD has not spoken by me. He said, Hear, you peoples, all of you.

29. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.

29. So the king of Yisra'el and Yehoshafat the king of Yehudah went up to Ramot-Gil`ad.

30. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുഞാന് വേഷംമാറി പടയില് കടക്കും; നീയോ രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു വോഷംമാറി പടയില് കടന്നു.

30. The king of Yisra'el said to Yehoshafat, I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but put you on your robes. The king of Yisra'el disguised himself, and went into the battle.

31. എന്നാല് അരാംരാജാവു തന്റെ മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു രഥനായകന്മാരോടുനിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേല് രാജാവിനോടു മാത്രമല്ലാതെ ചെറിയവരോടോ വലിയവരോടോ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

31. Now the king of Aram had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Yisra'el.

32. ആകയാല് രഥനായകന്മാര് യെഹോശാഥാത്തിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള്ഇവന് തന്നേ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനോടു പൊരുതുവാന് തിരിഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് നിലവിളിച്ചു.

32. It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Yehoshafat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Yisra'el; and they turned aside to fight against him: and Yehoshafat cried out.

33. അവന് യിസ്രായേല്രാജവല്ല എന്നു രഥനായകന്മാര് കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനെ വിട്ടുമാറി പോന്നു.

33. It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Yisra'el, that they turned back from pursuing him.

34. എന്നാല് ഒരുത്തന് യദൃച്ഛയാ വില്ലു കുലെച്ചു യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനെ കവചത്തിന്നും പതക്കത്തിന്നും ഇടെക്കു എയ്തു; അവന് തന്റെ സാരഥിയോടുനിന്റെ കൈ തിരിച്ചു എന്നെ പടയില് നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോക; ഞാന് കഠിനമായി മുറിവേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. A certain man drew his bow at a venture, and struck the king of Yisra'el between the joints of the armor: therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, Turn your hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am severely wounded.

35. അന്നു പട കഠിനമായി തീര്ന്നതുകൊണ്ടു രാജാവു അരാമ്യര്ക്കും എതിരെ രഥത്തില് നിവിര്ന്നുനിന്നു; സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയി. മുറിവില്നിന്നു രക്തം രഥത്തിന്നകത്തു ഒഴുകിയിരുന്നു.

35. The battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Aram, and died at even; and the blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.

36. സൂര്യന് അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പോള് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കും താന്താന്റെ ദേശത്തേക്കും പോകട്ടെ എന്നു പാളയത്തില് ഒരു പരസ്യം പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

36. There went a cry throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his country.

37. അങ്ങനെ രാജാവു മരിച്ചു; അവനെ ശമര്യയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവര് രാജാവിനെ ശമര്യയില് അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

37. So the king died, and was brought to Shomron; and they buried the king in Shomron.

38. രഥം ശമര്യയിലെ കുളത്തില് കഴുകിയപ്പോള് യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചിരുന്ന വചനപ്രകാരം നായ്ക്കള് അവന്റെ രക്തം നക്കി; വേശ്യാസ്ത്രീകളും അവിടെ കുളിച്ചു.

38. They washed the chariot by the pool of Shomron; and the dogs licked up his blood (now the prostitutes washed themselves there); according to the word of the LORD which he spoke.

39. ആഹാബിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന് ആനക്കൊമ്പുകൊണ്ടു പണിത അരമനയുടെയും അവന് പണിത എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെയും വിവരവും യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

39. Now the rest of the acts of Ach'av, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he built, and all the cities that he built, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yisra'el?

40. ആഹാബ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

40. So Ach'av slept with his fathers; and Achazyah his son reigned in his place.

41. ആസയുടെ മകനായ യഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ നാലാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹൂദയില് രാജാവായി.

41. Yehoshafat the son of Asa began to reign over Yehudah in the fourth year of Ach'av king of Yisra'el.

42. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു അസൂബാ എന്നു പേര്; അവള് ശില്ഹിയുടെ മകള് ആയിരുന്നു.

42. Yehoshafat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Yerushalayim. His mother's name was `Azuvah the daughter of Shilchi.

43. അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ എല്ലാവഴിയിലും നടന്നു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറാതെ യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായതു ചെയ്തു. പൂജാഗിരികള്ക്കുമാത്രം നീക്കം വന്നില്ല; ജനം പൂജാഗിരികളില് യാഗം കഴിക്കയും ധൂപം കാട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തുപോന്നു.

43. He walked in all the way of Asa his father; He didn't turn aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: however the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

44. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവിനോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തു.

44. Yehoshafat made shalom with the king of Yisra'el.

45. യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന്റെ പരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും അവന് ചെയ്ത യുദ്ധവും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

45. Now the rest of the acts of Yehoshafat, and his might that he shown, and how he warred, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Yehudah?

46. തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ കാലത്തു ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്ന പുരുഷമൈഥുനക്കാരെ അവന് ദേശത്തുനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

46. The remnant of the sodomites, that remained in the days of his father Asa, he put away out of the land.

47. ആ കാലത്തു എദോമില് രാജാവില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഒരു ദേശാധിപതി രാജസ്ഥാനം വഹിച്ചു.

47. There was no king in Edom: a deputy was king.

48. ഔഫീരില് പൊന്നിന്നു പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തര്ശീശ് കപ്പലുകളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി; എന്നാല് കപ്പലുകള് എസ്യോന് -ഗേബരല്വെച്ചു ഉടഞ്ഞുപോയതുകൊണ്ടു അവേക്കു പോകുവാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

48. Yehoshafat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ofir for gold: but they didn't go; for the ships were broken at `Etzyon-Gever.

49. അന്നേരം ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടുഎന്റെ ദാസന്മാര് നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരോടുകൂടെ കപ്പലുകളില് പോരട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്നു മനസ്സില്ലായിരുന്നു.

49. Then said Achazyah the son of Ach'av to Yehoshafat, Let my servants go with your servants in the ships. But Yehoshafat would not.

50. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു കൂടെ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോരാം അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

50. Yehoshafat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; Yehoram his son reigned in his place.

51. ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പതിനേഴാം ആണ്ടില് ശമര്യയില് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി; യിസ്രായേലില് രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

51. Achazyah the son of Ach'av began to reign over Yisra'el in Shomron in the seventeenth year of Yehoshafat king of Yehudah, and he reigned two years over Yisra'el.

52. അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വഴിയിലും അമ്മയുടെ വഴിയിലും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ വഴിയിലും നടന്നു യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

52. He did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Yarov`am the son of Nevat, in which he made Yisra'el to sin.

53. അവന് ബാലിനെ സേവിച്ചു നമസ്കരിച്ചു; തന്റെ അപ്പന് ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു.

53. He served Ba`al, and worshiped him, and provoked to anger the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, according to all that his father had done.
