1. രെഹബെയാമിനെ രാജാവാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യിസ്രായേലെല്ലാം ശെഖേമില് വന്നിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവനും ശെഖേമില് ചെന്നു.

1. Roboam wente vnto Sichem: for all Israel was come vnto Sichem: to make him kinge.

2. എന്നാല് ശലോമോന് രാജാവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില്നിന്നു ഔടിപ്പോയി മിസ്രയീമില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാം അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു മടങ്ങിവന്നു.

2. And whan Ieroboa the sonne of Nebat herde that, which was in Egipte ( whither he was fled for kynge Salomon) he came agayne out of Egipte.

3. അവര് ആളയച്ചു അവനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു; യൊരോബെയാമും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും വന്നു രെഹബെയാമിനോടു

3. And they sent for him and called him. And Ieroboam came with all Israel, and spake to Roboam, and sayde:

4. നിന്റെ അപ്പന് ഭാരമുള്ള നുകം ഞങ്ങളുടെ മേല് വെച്ചു; ആകയാല് നിന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ കഠിനവേലയും അവന് ഞങ്ങളുടെമേല് വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭാരമുള്ള നുകവും നീ ഭാരം കുറെച്ചുതരേണം; എന്നാല് ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നെ സേവിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Thy father made or yocke greuous: make thou lighter now ye harde bondage of thy father, and ye heuy yocke that he layed vpon vs, and we wyll submytte oure selues vnto the.

5. അവന് അവരോടുമൂന്നു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു വീണ്ടും എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ജനം പോയി.

5. He sayde vnto them: Come to me agayne ouer thre dayes. And ye people wente their waye.

6. രെഹബെയാംരാജാവു തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശലോമോന് ജീവനോടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് നിന്നിരുന്ന വൃദ്ധന്മാരോടു ആലോചിച്ചുഈ ജനത്തോടു ഉത്തരം പറയേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് എന്താലോചന പറയുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

6. And Roboam the kynge axed coucell at the Elders, which had stonde before Salomon his father whyle he lyued, and he sayde: What is youre councell, that I maye geue this people an answere?

7. അതിന്നു അവര് അവനോടു നീ ജനത്തോടു ദയ കാണിച്ചു അവരെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചു അവരോടു നല്ല വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞാല് അവര് എന്നും നിനക്കു ദാസന്മാരായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. They spake vnto him, and sayde: Yf thou be louynge vnto this people, and deale gently with them, and geue them good wordes, then shal they allwaye be obedient vnto the.

8. എന്നാല് വൃദ്ധന്മാര് തന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ ആലോചന അവന് ത്യജിച്ചു, തന്നോടുകൂടെ വളര്ന്നവരായി തന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിലക്കുന്ന യൌവനക്കാരോടു ആലോചിച്ചു

8. Neuerthelesse he forsoke the councell of the Elders that they had geuen him, and toke councell at ye yonge men which were growne vp wt him, and stode before him.

9. നിന്റെ അപ്പന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ മേല് വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നുകം ഭാരം കുറെച്ചു തരേണം എന്നിങ്ങനെ എന്നോടു സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഈ ജനത്തോടും നാം ഉത്തരം പറയേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് എന്താലോചന പറയുന്നു എന്നു അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

9. And he sayde vnto the: What is youre councell, that we maye answere this people, which haue spoken vnto me, and saide: Make oure yock lighter, yt thy father layed vpon vs?

10. അവനോടു കൂടെ വളര്ന്നിരുന്ന യൌവനക്കാര് അവനോടുനിന്റെ അപ്പന് ഭാരമുള്ള നുകം ഞങ്ങളുടെമേല് വെച്ചുനീ അതു ഭാരം കുറെച്ചുതരേണം എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ ജനത്തോടുഎന്റെ ചെറുവിരല് എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ അരയേക്കാള് വണ്ണമുള്ളതായിരിക്കും.

10. The yongemen yt were growne vp with him, spake vnto him, and sayde: Thus shalt thou saye vnto the people, that haue talked with the & spoken: Thy father made oure yock to heuy, make thou or yock lighter, Thus shalt thou saye vnto them: My litle finger shalbe thicker then my fathers loynes.

11. എന്റെ അപ്പന് നിങ്ങളുടെമേല് ഭാരമുള്ള നുകം വെച്ചിരിക്കെ ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ നുകത്തിന്നു ഭാരം കൂട്ടും; എന്റെ അപ്പന് നിങ്ങളെ ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ടു ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു; ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളെ തേളിനെക്കൊണ്ടു ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കും എന്നിങ്ങനെ നീ ഉത്തരം പറയേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. Yf my father hath layed an heuy yock vpon you, I wyl make youre yock the more. My father chastened you wt scourges, but I wyl beate you with scorpions.

12. മൂന്നാം ദിവസം വീണ്ടും എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുവിന് എന്നു രാജാവു പറഞ്ഞതു പോലെ യൊരോബെയാമും സകലജനവും മൂന്നാം ദിവസം രെഹബെയാമിന്റെ അടുക്കല്വന്നു.

12. Now whan Ieroboam and all the people came to Roboam on the thirde daye (acordynge as ye kinge sayde: Come to me againe on the thirde daie)

13. എന്നാല് രാജാവു അവരോടു കഠിനമായിട്ടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു; രെഹബെയാംരാജാവു വൃദ്ധന്മാരുടെ ആലോചന ത്യജിച്ചു

13. the kynge gaue the an harde answere. And Roboa the kynge forsoke ye councell of the Elders,

14. യൌവനക്കാരുടെ ആലോചനപ്രകാരം അവരോടുഎന്റെ അപ്പന് ഭാരമുള്ള നുകം നിങ്ങളുടെമേല് വെച്ചു; ഞാനോ അതിന്നു ഭാരം കൂട്ടും; എന്റെ അപ്പന് നിങ്ങളെ ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ടു ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു; ഞാനോ തേളിനെക്കൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

14. & spake vnto the after ye yonge mens councell, & sayde: Yf my father haue made yor yock to heuy, I wil make it yet heuyer. My father chastened you wt scourges, but I wyl beate you wt scorpios.

15. ഇങ്ങനെ രാജാവു ജനത്തിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടില്ല; യഹോവ ശീലോന്യനായ അഹീയാമുഖാന്തരം നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനം നിവൃത്തിയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈ കാര്യം ദൈവഹിതത്താല് സംഭവിച്ചു.

15. Thus the kynge folowed not ye peoples minde: for so was it determyned of God, yt ye LORDE might stablishe his worde, which he spake by Ahia of Silo, vnto Ieroboa ye sonne of Nebat.

16. രാജാവു തങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേള്ക്കയില്ല എന്നു എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും കണ്ടപ്പോള് ജനം രാജാവിനോടുദാവീദിങ്കല് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു എന്തോഹരിയുള്ളു? യിശ്ശായിയുടെ പുത്രങ്കല് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അവകാശം ഇല്ലല്ലോ; യിസ്രായേലേ, ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്വിന് ; ദാവീദേ, നിന്റെ ഗൃഹം നോക്കിക്കൊള്ക എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു യിസ്രായേലൊക്കെയും തങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിലേക്കു പോയി.

16. But whan all Israel sawe that the kynge wolde not consente vnto them, ye people answered the kynge, and sayde: What porcion haue we then in Dauid, or inheritauce in the sonne of Isai? Let euery man of Israel get him to his tent. Loke thou now to thy house Dauid. And all Israel wente vnto their tentes,

17. യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന യിസ്രായേല്യര്ക്കോ രെഹബെയാം രാജാവായ്തീര്ന്നു.

17. so that Roboam reigned but ouer the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Iuda.

18. പിന്നെ രെഹബെയാംരാജാവു ഊഴിയവേലകൂ മേല്വിചാരകനായ ഹദോരാമിനെ അയച്ചു; എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേല്യര് അവനെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു കൊന്നു കളഞ്ഞു; രെഹബെയാംരാജാവു വേഗത്തില് രഥം കയറി യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

18. And Roboam sent forth Adoram the rentgatherer, but the children of Israel stoned him to death. And kynge Roboa strengthed himselfe vpon his charet, to flye vnto Ierusalem.

19. ഇങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല് ഇന്നുവരെ ദാവീദ് ഗൃഹത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചുനിലക്കുന്നു.

19. Thus fell Israel awaie fro the house of Dauid vnto this daye.
