1. മൂന്നാം ദിവസം എസ്ഥേര് രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു രാജധാനിയുടെ അകത്തെ പ്രാകാരത്തില് ചെന്നു രാജഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ നേരെ നിന്നു; രാജാവു രാജധാനിയില് രാജഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വാതിലിന്നു നേരെ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

1. Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on {her} royal {apparel}, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.

2. എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞി പ്രാകാരത്തില് നിലക്കുന്നതു രാജാവു കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവന്നു അവളോടു കൃപതോന്നി തന്റെ കയ്യില് ഇരുന്ന പൊന് ചെങ്കോല് രാജാവു എസ്ഥേരിന്റെ നേരെ നീട്ടി; എസ്ഥേര് അടുത്തുചെന്നു ചെങ്കോലിന്റെ അഗ്രം തൊട്ടു.

2. And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, {that} she obtained favor in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that {was} in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the scepter.

3. രാജാവു അവളോടുഎസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിയേ, എന്തു വേണം? എന്താകുന്നു നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ? രാജ്യത്തില് പാതിയോളമായാലും നിനക്കു തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Then said the king to her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what {is} thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.

4. അതിന്നു എസ്ഥേര്രാജാവിന്നു തിരുവുള്ളം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടു ഞാന് ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന വിരുന്നിന്നു രാജാവും ഹാമാനും ഇന്നു വരേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

4. And Esther answered, If {it shall seem} good to the king, let the king and Haman come this day to the banquet that I have prepared for him.

5. എസ്ഥേര് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ചെയ്വാന് ഹാമാനെ വേഗം വരുത്തുവിന് എന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ രാജാവും ഹാമാനും എസ്ഥേര് ഒരുക്കിയ വിരുന്നിന്നു ചെന്നു.

5. Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

6. വീഞ്ഞുവിരുന്നില് രാജാവു എസ്ഥേരിനോടുനിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ എന്തു? അതു നിനക്കു ലഭിക്കും; നിന്റെ ആഗ്രഹവും എന്തു? രാജ്യത്തില് പാതിയോളമായാലും അതു നിവര്ത്തിച്ചുതരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And the king said to Esther at the banquet of wine, What {is} thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what {is} thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.

7. അതിന്നു എസ്ഥേര്എന്റെ അപേക്ഷയും ആഗ്രഹവും ഇതാകുന്നു

7. Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request {is}:

8. രാജാവിന്നു എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടെങ്കില് എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ നലകുവാനും എന്റെ ആഗ്രഹം നിവര്ത്തിപ്പാനും രാജാവിന്നു തിരുവുള്ളം ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് രാജാവും ഹാമാനും ഞാന് ഇനിയും ഒരുക്കുന്ന വിരുന്നിന്നു വരേണം; നാളെ ഞാന് രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ചെയ്തുകൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it shall please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to-morrow as the king hath said.

9. അന്നു ഹാമാന് സന്തോഷവും ആനന്ദവുമുള്ളവനായി പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി; എന്നാല് രാജാവിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കല് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി എഴുന്നേല്ക്കാതെയും തന്നെ കൂശാതെയും ഇരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു ഹാമാന് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയുടെ നേരെ കോപം നിറഞ്ഞു.

9. Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.

10. എങ്കിലും ഹാമാന് തന്നെത്താന് അടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു തന്റെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെയും ഭാര്യയായ സേരെശിനെയും വിളിപ്പിച്ചു.

10. Nevertheless, Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends, and Zeresh his wife.

11. ഹാമാന് അവരോടു തന്റെ ധനമാഹാത്മ്യവും പുത്രബഹുത്വവും രാജാവു തനിക്കു നല്കിയ ഉന്നതപദവിയും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര്ക്കും രാജഭൃത്യന്മാര്ക്കും മേലായി തന്നെ ഉയര്ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നതും വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all {the things} in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

12. എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിയും താന് ഒരുക്കിയ വിരുന്നിന്നു എന്നെയല്ലാതെ മറ്റാരെയും രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ ചെല്ലുവാന് അനുവദിച്ചില്ല; നാളെയും രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ വിരുന്നിന്നു ചെല്ലുവാന് എന്നെ ക്ഷണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. Haman said moreover, Yes, Esther the queen let no man come in with the king to the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and to-morrow I am invited to her also with the king.

13. എങ്കിലും യെഹൂദനായ മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായി രാജാവിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കുന്നതു കാണുന്നേടത്തോളം ഇതൊന്നുംകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു ഒരു തൃപ്തിയും ഇല്ല എന്നും ഹാമാന് പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.

14. അതിന്നു അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ സേരെശും അവന്റെ സകല സ്നേഹിതന്മാരും അവനോടുഅമ്പതു മുഴം ഉയരമുള്ള ഒരു കഴുമരം ഉണ്ടാക്കട്ടെ; മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിയെ അതിന്മേല് തൂക്കിക്കളയേണ്ടതിന്നു നാളെ രാവിലെ നീ രാജാവിനോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കേണം; പിന്നെ നിനക്കു സന്തോഷമായി രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ വിരുന്നിന്നു പോകാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഈ കാര്യം ഹാമാന്നു ബോധിച്ചു; അവന് കഴുമരം ഉണ്ടാക്കിച്ചു.

14. Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends to him, Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and to-morrow speak thou to the king that Mordecai may be hanged upon it: then go thou in merrily with the king to the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.
