1. എന്റെ ശ്വാസം ക്ഷയിച്ചു, എന്റെ ആയുസ്സു കെട്ടുപോകുന്നു; ശ്മശാനം എനിക്കായി ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. My spirit is consumed, my days are extinct, And the grave is ready for me.

2. എന്റെ അടുക്കെ പരിഹാസമേയുള്ളു; എന്റെ കണ്ണു അവരുടെ വക്കാണം കണ്ടു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. Surely there are mockers with me, My eye dwells on their provocation.

3. നീ പണയംകൊടുത്തു എനിക്കു ജാമ്യമാകേണമേ; എന്നോടു കയ്യടിപ്പാന് മറ്റാരുള്ളു?

3. 'Now give a pledge, be collateral for me with yourself. Who is there who will strike hands with me?

4. ബുദ്ധി തോന്നാതവണ്ണം നീ അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം അടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അതുനിമിത്തം നീ അവരെ ഉയര്ത്തുകയില്ല.

4. For you have hidden their heart from understanding, Therefore shall you not exalt them.

5. ഒരുത്തന് സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെ കവര്ച്ചെക്കായി കാണിച്ചുകൊടുത്താല് അവന്റെ മക്കളുടെ കണ്ണു മങ്ങിപ്പോകും.

5. He who denounces his friends for a prey, Even the eyes of his children shall fail.

6. അവന് എന്നെ ജനങ്ങള്ക്കു പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലാക്കിത്തീര്ത്തു; ഞാന് മുഖത്തു തുപ്പേലക്കുന്നവനായിത്തീര്ന്നു.

6. 'But he has made me a byword of the people. They spit in my face.

7. ദുഃഖം ഹേതുവായി എന്റെ കണ്ണു മങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ അവയവങ്ങള് ഒക്കെയും നിഴല് പോലെ തന്നേ.

7. My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow. All my members are as a shadow.

8. നേരുള്ളവര് അതു കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകും; നിര്ദ്ദോഷി വഷളന്റെ നേരെ ചൊടിക്കും.

8. Upright men shall be astonished at this. The innocent shall stir up himself against the godless.

9. നീതിമാനോ തന്റെ വഴിയെ തുടര്ന്നു നടക്കും; കൈവെടിപ്പുള്ളവന് മേലക്കുമേല് ബലം പ്രാപിക്കും.

9. Yet shall the righteous hold on his way. He who has clean hands shall grow stronger and stronger.

10. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും മടങ്ങിവരുവിന് ; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളില് ഒരു ജ്ഞാനിയെയും കാണുന്നില്ല.

10. But as for you all, come on now again; I shall not find a wise man among you.

11. എന്റെ നാളുകള് കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി; എന്റെ ഉദ്ദേശങ്ങള്ക്കു, എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ നിരൂപണങ്ങള്ക്കു ഭംഗംവന്നു.

11. My days are past, my plans are broken off, As are the thoughts of my heart.

12. അവര് രാത്രിയെ പകലാക്കുന്നു; വെളിച്ചം ഇരുട്ടിനെക്കാള് അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നുപോല്.

12. They change the night into day, Saying 'The light is near' in the presence of darkness.

13. ഞാനോ പാതാളത്തെ എന്റെ വീടായി പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുട്ടില് ഞാന് എന്റെ കിടക്ക വിരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. If I look for She'ol as my house, If I have spread my couch in the darkness,

14. ഞാന് ദ്രവത്വത്തോടുനീ എന്റെ അപ്പന് എന്നും പുഴുവിനോടുനീ എന്റെ അമ്മയും സഹോദരിയും എന്നും പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. If I have said to corruption, 'You are my father;' To the worm, 'My mother,' and 'my sister;'

15. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ എന്റെ പ്രത്യാശ എവിടെ? ആര് എന്റെ പ്രത്യാശയെ കാണും?

15. Where then is my hope? As for my hope, who shall see it?

16. അതു പാതാളത്തിന്റെ ഔടാമ്പലുകളോളം ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു; പൊടിയില് ഒരുപോലെ വിശ്രാമം ഉണ്ടാകും.

16. Shall it go down with me to the gates of She'ol, Or descend together into the dust?'
