1. ദൈവമേ, നീ ഞങ്ങളെ സദാകാലത്തേക്കും തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞതു എന്തു? നിന്റെ മേച്ചല്പുറത്തെ ആടുകളുടെ നേരെ നിന്റെ കോപം പുകയുന്നതു എന്തു?

1. A Maskil of Asaph. O God, why dost thou cast us off for ever? Why does thy anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?

2. നീ പണ്ടുപണ്ടേ സമ്പാദിച്ച നിന്റെ സഭയെയും നീ വീണ്ടെടുത്ത നിന്റെ അവകാശഗോത്രത്തെയും നീ വസിച്ചുപോന്ന സീയോന് പര്വ്വതത്തെയും ഔര്ക്കേണമേ.

2. Remember thy congregation, which thou hast gotten of old, which thou hast redeemed to be the tribe of thy heritage! Remember Mount Zion, where thou hast dwelt.

3. നിത്യശൂന്യങ്ങളിലേക്കു നിന്റെ കാലടി വെക്കേണമേ; ശത്രു വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തില് സകലവും നശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. Direct thy steps to the perpetual ruins; the enemy has destroyed everything in the sanctuary!

4. നിന്റെ വൈരികള് നിന്റെ സമാഗമന സ്ഥലത്തിന്റെ നടുവില് അലറുന്നു; തങ്ങളുടെ കൊടികളെ അവര് അടയാളങ്ങളായി നാട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. Thy foes have roared in the midst of thy holy place; they set up their own signs for signs.

5. അവര് മരക്കൂട്ടത്തിന്മേല് കോടാലി ഔങ്ങുന്നതുപോലെ തോന്നി.

5. At the upper entrance they hacked the wooden trellis with axes.

6. ഇതാ, അവര് മഴുകൊണ്ടും ചുറ്റികകൊണ്ടും അതിന്റെ ചിത്രപ്പണികളെ ആകപ്പാടെ തകര്ത്തുകളയുന്നു.

6. And then all its carved wood they broke down with hatchets and hammers.

7. അവര് നിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിന്നു തീവെച്ചു; തിരുനാമത്തിന്റെ നിവാസത്തെ അവര് ഇടിച്ചുനിരത്തി അശുദ്ധമാക്കി.

7. They set thy sanctuary on fire; to the ground they desecrated the dwelling place of thy name.

8. നാം അവരെ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളക എന്നു അവര് ഉള്ളംകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു. ദേശത്തില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ എല്ലാപള്ളികളെയും ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

8. They said to themselves, 'We will utterly subdue them'; they burned all the meeting places of God in the land.

9. ഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടയാളങ്ങളെ കാണുന്നില്ല; യാതൊരു പ്രവാചകനും ശേഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ഇതു എത്രത്തോളം എന്നറിയുന്നവന് ആരും ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഇല്ല.

9. We do not see our signs; there is no longer any prophet, and there is none among us who knows how long.

10. ദൈവമേ, വൈരി എത്രത്തോളം നിന്ദിക്കും? ശത്രു നിന്റെ നാമത്തെ എന്നേക്കും ദുഷിക്കുമോ?

10. How long, O God, is the foe to scoff? Is the enemy to revile thy name for ever?

11. നിന്റെ കൈ, നിന്റെ വലങ്കൈ നീ വലിച്ചുകളയുന്നതു എന്തു? നിന്റെ മടിയില്നിന്നു അതു എടുത്തു അവരെ മുടിക്കേണമേ.

11. Why dost thou hold back thy hand, why dost thou keep thy right hand in thy bosom?

12. ദൈവം പുരാതനമേ എന്റെ രാജാവാകുന്നു; ഭൂമിയുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ അവന് രക്ഷ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

12. Yet God my King is from of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

13. നിന്റെ ശക്തികൊണ്ടു നീ സമുദ്രത്തെ വിഭാഗിച്ചു; വെള്ളത്തിലുള്ള തിമിംഗലങ്ങളുടെ തലകളെ ഉടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

13. Thou didst divide the sea by thy might; thou didst break the heads of the dragons on the waters.

14. ലിവ്യാഥാന്റെ തലകളെ നീ തകര്ത്തു; മരുവാസികളായ ജനത്തിന്നു അതിനെ ആഹാരമായി കൊടുത്തു.

14. Thou didst crush the heads of Leviathan, thou didst give him as food for the creatures of the wilderness.

15. നീ ഉറവും ഒഴുക്കും തുറന്നുവിട്ടു, മഹാനദികളെ നീ വറ്റിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

15. Thou didst cleave open springs and brooks; thou didst dry up ever-flowing streams.

16. പകല് നിനക്കുള്ളതു; രാവും നിനക്കുള്ളതു; വെളിച്ചത്തെയും സൂര്യനെയും നീ ചമെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. Thine is the day, thine also the night; thou hast established the luminaries and the sun.

17. ഭൂസീമകളെ ഒക്കെയും നീ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു; നീ ഉഷ്ണകാലവും ശീതകാലവും നിയമിച്ചു.

17. Thou hast fixed all the bounds of the earth; thou hast made summer and winter.

18. യഹോവേ, ശത്രു നിന്ദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും മൂഢജാതി തിരുനാമത്തെ ദുഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും ഔര്ക്കേണമേ.

18. Remember this, O LORD, how the enemy scoffs, and an impious people reviles thy name.

19. നിന്റെ കുറുപ്രാവിനെ ദുഷ്ടമൃഗത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിക്കരുതേ; നിന്റെ എളിയവരുടെ ജീവനെ എന്നേക്കും മറക്കരുതേ.

19. Do not deliver the soul of thy dove to the wild beasts; do not forget the life of thy poor for ever.

20. നിന്റെ നിയമത്തെ കടാക്ഷിക്കേണമേ; ഭൂമിയിലെ അന്ധകാരസ്ഥലങ്ങള് സാഹസനിവാസങ്ങള്കൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

20. Have regard for thy covenant; for the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.

21. പീഡിതന് ലജ്ജിച്ചു പിന്തിരിയരുതേ; എളിയവനും ദരിദ്രനും നിന്റെ നാമത്തെ സ്തുതിക്കട്ടെ.

21. Let not the downtrodden be put to shame; let the poor and needy praise thy name.

22. ദൈവമേ, എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിന്റെ വ്യവഹാരം നടത്തേണമേ; മൂഢന് ഇടവിടാതെ നിന്നെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നതു ഔക്കേണമേ.

22. Arise, O God, plead thy cause; remember how the impious scoff at thee all the day!

23. നിന്റെ വൈരികളുടെ ആരവം മറക്കരുതേ; നിന്റെ എതിരാളികളുടെ കലഹം എപ്പോഴും പൊങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. (സംഗീതപ്രമാണിക്കു; നശിപ്പിക്കരുതേ എന്ന രാഗത്തില്; ആസാഫിന്റെ ഒരു സങ്കീര്ത്തനം; ഒരു ഗീതം.)

23. Do not forget the clamor of thy foes, the uproar of thy adversaries which goes up continually!
