1. യാക്കേയുടെ മകനായ ആഗൂരിന്റെ വചനങ്ങള്; ഒരു അരുളപ്പാടു; ആ പുരുഷന്റെ വാക്യമാവിതുദൈവമേ, ഞാന് അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു, ദൈവമേ, ഞാന് അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു ക്ഷയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, [even] the prophecy: the man spoke to Ithiel, even to Ithiel and Ucal,

2. ഞാന് സകലമനുഷ്യരിലും മൃഗപ്രായനത്രേ; മാനുഷബുദ്ധി എനിക്കില്ല;

2. Surely I [am] more stupid than [any] man, and have not the understanding of a man.

3. ഞാന് ജ്ഞാനം അഭ്യസിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; പരിശുദ്ധനായവന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനം എനിക്കില്ല.

3. I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.

4. സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് കയറുകയും ഇറങ്ങിവരികയും ചെയ്തവന് ആര്? കാറ്റിനെ തന്റെ മുഷ്ടിയില് പിടിച്ചടക്കിയവന് ആര്? വെള്ളങ്ങളെ വസ്ത്രത്തില് കെട്ടിയവന് ആര്? ഭൂമിയുടെ അറുതികളെയൊക്കെയും നിയമിച്ചവന് ആര്? അവന്റെ പേരെന്തു? അവന്റെ മകന്റെ പേര് എന്തു? നിനക്കറിയാമോ?

4. Who hath ascended into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what [is] his name, and what [is] his son's name, if thou canst tell?

5. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സകലവചനവും ശുദ്ധിചെയ്തതാകുന്നു; തന്നില് ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും അവന് പരിച തന്നേ.

5. Every word of God [is] pure: he [is] a shield to them that put their trust in him.

6. അവന്റെ വചനങ്ങളോടു നീ ഒന്നും കൂട്ടരുതു; അവന് നിന്നെ വിസ്തരിച്ചിട്ടു നീ കള്ളനാകുവാന് ഇട വരരുതു.

6. Add thou not to his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

7. രണ്ടു കാര്യം ഞാന് നിന്നോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; ജീവപര്യന്തം അവ എനിക്കു നിഷേധിക്കരുതേ;

7. Two [things] have I required of thee; deny [them] not to me before I die:

8. വ്യാജവും ഭോഷകും എന്നോടു അകറ്റേണമേ; ദാരിദ്ര്യവും സമ്പത്തും എനിക്കു തരാതെ നിത്യവൃത്തി തന്നു എന്നെ പോഷിപ്പിക്കേണമേ.

8. Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

9. ഞാന് തൃപ്തനായിത്തീര്ന്നിട്ടുയഹോവ ആര് എന്നു നിന്നെ നിഷേധിപ്പാനും ദരിദ്രനായിത്തീര്ന്നിട്ടു മോഷ്ടിച്ചു എന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നാമത്തെ തീണ്ടിപ്പാനും സംഗതി വരരുതേ.

9. Lest I be full, and deny [thee], and say, Who [is] the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God [in vain].

10. ദാസനെക്കുറിച്ചു യജമാനനോടു ഏഷണി പറയരുതു; അവന് നിന്നെ ശപിപ്പാനും നീ കുറ്റക്കാരനായിത്തീരുവാനും ഇടവരരുതു.

10. Accuse not a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.

11. അപ്പനെ ശപിക്കയും അമ്മയെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നോരു തലമുറ!

11. [There is] a generation [that] curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.

12. തങ്ങള്ക്കു തന്നേ നിര്മ്മലരായിത്തോന്നുന്നവരും അശുദ്ധി കഴുകിക്കളയാത്തവരുമായോരു തലമുറ!

12. [There is] a generation [that are] pure in their own eyes, and [yet] are not washed from their filthiness.

13. അയ്യോ ഈ തലമുറയുടെ കണ്ണുകള് എത്ര ഉയര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു -- അവരുടെ കണ്ണിമകള് എത്ര പൊങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു --

13. [There is] a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

14. എളിയവരെ ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നും ദരിദ്രരെ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നും തിന്നുകളവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം മുമ്പല്ലു വാളായും അണപ്പല്ലു കത്തിയായും ഇരിക്കുന്നോരു തലമുറ!

14. [There is] a generation, whose teeth [are as] swords, and their jaw teeth [as] knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from [among] men.

15. കന്നട്ടെക്കുതരിക, തരിക എന്ന രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാര് ഉണ്ടു; ഒരിക്കലും തൃപ്തിവരാത്തതു മൂന്നുണ്ടു; മതി എന്നു പറയാത്തതു നാലുണ്ടു

15. The horseleach hath two daughters, [crying], Give, give. There are three [things that] are never satisfied, [yea], four [things] say not, [It is] enough:

16. പാതാളവും വന്ധ്യയുടെ ഗര്ഭപാത്രവും വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചു തൃപ്തിവരാത്ത ഭൂമിയും മതി എന്നു പറയാത്ത തീയും തന്നേ.

16. The grave; and the barren womb; the earth [that] is not filled with water; and the fire [that] saith not, [It is] enough.

17. അപ്പനെ പരിഹസിക്കയും അമ്മയെ അനുസരിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്ന കണ്ണിനെ തോട്ടരികത്തെ കാക്ക കൊത്തിപ്പറിക്കയും കഴുകിന് കുഞ്ഞുകള് തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും.

17. The eye [that] mocketh at [its] father, and despiseth to obey [its] mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

18. എനിക്കു അതിവിസ്മയമായി തോന്നുന്നതു മൂന്നുണ്ടു; എനിക്കു അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്തതു നാലുണ്ടു

18. There are three [things which] are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:

19. ആകാശത്തു കഴുകന്റെ വഴിയും പാറമേല് സര്പ്പത്തിന്റെ വഴിയും സമുദ്രമദ്ധ്യേ കപ്പലിന്റെ വഴിയും കന്യകയോടുകൂടെ പുരുഷന്റെ വഴിയും തന്നേ.

19. The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.

20. വ്യഭിചാരിണിയുടെ വഴിയും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ. അവള് തിന്നു വായ് തുടെച്ചിട്ടു ഞാന് ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലെന്നു പറയുന്നു.

20. Such [is] the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

21. മൂന്നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഭൂമി വിറെക്കുന്നു; നാലിന്റെ നിമിത്തം അതിന്നു സഹിച്ചു കൂടാ

21. For three [things] the earth is disquieted, and for four [which] it cannot bear:

22. ദാസന് രാജാവായാല് അവന്റെ നിമിത്തവും ഭോഷന് തിന്നു തൃപ്തനായാല് അവന്റെ നിമിത്തവും

22. For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with food;

23. വിലക്ഷണെക്കു വിവാഹം കഴിഞ്ഞാല് അവളുടെ നിമിത്തവും ദാസി യജമാനത്തിയുടെ സ്ഥാനം പ്രാപിച്ചാല് അവളുടെ നിമിത്തവും തന്നേ.

23. For an odious [woman] when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.

24. ഭൂമിയില് എത്രയും ചെറിയവയെങ്കിലും അത്യന്തം ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവയായിട്ടു നാലുണ്ടു

24. There are four [things which are] little upon the earth, but they [are] very wise:

25. ഉറുമ്പു ബലഹീനജാതി എങ്കിലും അതു വേനല്ക്കാലത്തു ആഹാരം സമ്പാദിച്ചു വെക്കുന്നു.

25. The ants [are] a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer;

26. കുഴിമുയല് ശക്തിയില്ലാത്ത ജാതി എങ്കിലും അതു പാറയില് പാര്പ്പിടം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

26. The conies [are but] a feeble people, yet they make their houses in the rocks;

27. വെട്ടുക്കിളിക്കു രാജാവില്ല എങ്കിലും അതൊക്കെയും അണിയണിയായി പുറപ്പെടുന്നു.

27. The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

28. പല്ലിയെ കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിക്കാം എങ്കിലും അതു രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ അരമനകളില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നു.

28. The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings ' palaces.

29. ചന്തമായി നടകൊള്ളുന്നതു മൂന്നുണ്ടു; ചന്തമായി നടക്കുന്നതു നാലുണ്ടു

29. There are three [things] which go well, yea, four are stately in going:

30. മൃഗങ്ങളില്വെച്ചു ശക്തിയേറിയതും ഒന്നിന്നും വഴിമാറാത്തതുമായ സിംഹവും

30. A lion [which is] strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;

31. നായാട്ടുനായും കോലാട്ടുകൊറ്റനും സൈന്യസമേതനായ രാജാവും തന്നേ.

31. A greyhound; a male goat also; and a king, against whom [there is] no rising up.

32. നീ നിഗളിച്ചു ഭോഷത്വം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയോ ദോഷം നിരൂപിക്കയോ ചെയ്തുപോയെങ്കില് കൈകൊണ്ടു വായ് പൊത്തിക്കൊള്ക.

32. If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, [lay] thy hand upon thy mouth.

33. പാല് കടഞ്ഞാല് വെണ്ണയുണ്ടാകും; മൂകൂ ഞെക്കിയാല് ചോര വരും; കോപം ഇളക്കിയാല് വഴക്കുണ്ടാകും.

33. Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
