1. എഫ്രയീമിലെ കുടിയാന്മാരുടെ ഡംഭകിരീടത്തിന്നും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു ലഹരിപിടിച്ചവരുടെ ഫലവത്തായ താഴ്വരയിലെ കുന്നിന്മേല് വാടിപ്പോകുന്ന പുഷ്പമായ അവന്റെ ഭംഗിയുള്ള അലങ്കാരത്തിന്നും അയ്യോ, കഷ്ടം!

1. Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower which is on the head of the fat valleys of those who are overcome with wine!

2. ഇതാ, ശക്തിയും ബലവുമുള്ള ഒരുത്തന് കര്ത്താവിങ്കല്നിന്നു വരുന്നു; തകര്ത്ത കൊടുങ്കാറ്റോടുകൂടിയ കന്മഴപോലെയും കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകുന്ന മഹാ ജലപ്രവാഹം പോലെയും അവന് അവരെ വെറുങ്കൈകൊണ്ടു നിലത്തു തള്ളിയിടും.

2. Behold, the Lord is a mighty and strong one, like a hailstorm, a destroying storm; like a flood of mighty waters overflowing, He casts down to the earth with the hand.

3. എഫ്രയീമിലെ കുടിയാന്മാരുടെ ഡംഭകിരീടം അവന് കാല്കൊണ്ടു ചവിട്ടിക്കളയും.

3. The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trampled under foot;

4. ഫലവത്തായ താഴ്വരയിലെ കുന്നിന്മേല് വാടിപ്പോകുന്ന പുഷ്പമായ അവന്റെ ഭംഗിയുള്ള അലങ്കാരം ഫലശേഖരകാലത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ പഴുത്തതും കാണുന്നവന് ഉടനെ പറിഞ്ഞുതിന്നുകളയുന്നതുമായ അത്തിപ്പഴം പോലെ ഇരിക്കും.

4. and the glorious beauty, on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the first-ripe fruit before the summer; which the beholder of it swallows up while it is yet in his hand.

5. അന്നാളില് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ശേഷിപ്പിന്നു മഹത്വമുള്ളോരു കിരീടവും ഭംഗിയുള്ളോരു മുടിയും

5. In that day Jehovah of Hosts shall be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, to the rest of His people,

6. ന്യായവിസ്താരം കഴിപ്പാന് ഇരിക്കുന്നവന്നു ന്യായത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവും പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല്വെച്ചു പടയെ മടക്കിക്കളയുന്നവര്ക്കും വീര്യബലവും ആയിരിക്കും.

6. and for a spirit of judgment to him who sits in judgment, and for strength to those who turn back the battle to the gate.

7. എന്നാല് ഇവരും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിച്ചു ചാഞ്ചാടുകയും മദ്യപിച്ചു ആടിനടക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; പുരോഹിതനും പ്രവാചകനും മദ്യപാനം ചെയ്തു ചാഞ്ചാടുകയും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു മത്തരാകയും മദ്യപിച്ചു ആടിനടക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവര് ദര്ശനത്തില് പിഴെച്ചു ന്യായവിധിയില് തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നു.

7. But they also have sinned through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way. The priest and the prophet have sinned through drink; they are swallowed up by wine; they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

8. മേശകള് ഒക്കെയും ഛര്ദ്ദിയും അഴുക്കുംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഒരു സ്ഥലവും ശേഷിപ്പില്ല.

8. For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness; no place is clean.

9. “ആര്ക്കാകുന്നു ഇവന് പരിജ്ഞാനം ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് പോകുന്നതു? ആരെയാകുന്നു അവന് പ്രസംഗം ഗ്രഹിപ്പിപ്പാന് പോകുന്നതു? പാലുകുടി മാറിയവരെയോ? മുലകുടി വിട്ടവരെയോ?

9. Whom shall He teach knowledge? And whom shall He make to understand doctrine? Those weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts.

10. ചട്ടത്തിന്മേല് ചട്ടം, ചട്ടത്തിന്മേല് ചട്ടം; സൂത്രത്തിന്മേല് സൂത്രം, സൂത്രത്തിന്മേല് സൂത്രം; ഇവിടെ അല്പം, അവിടെ അല്പം” എന്നു അവര് പറയുന്നു അതേ,

10. For precept must be on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little;

11. വിക്കിവിക്കി പറയുന്ന അധരങ്ങളാലും അന്യഭാഷയിലും അവന് ഈ ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിക്കും.

11. for with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people.

12. ഇതാകുന്നു സ്വസ്ഥത; ക്ഷീണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവന്നു സ്വസ്ഥത കൊടുപ്പിന് ; ഇതാകുന്നു വിശ്രാമം എന്നു അവര് അവരോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു എങ്കിലും കേള്പ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും മനസ്സില്ലായിരുന്നു.

12. To whom He said, This is the rest; cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing. Yet they were not willing to hear.

13. ആകയാല് അവര് ചെന്നു പിറകോട്ടുവീണു തകര്ന്നു കുടുക്കില് അകപ്പെട്ടു പിടിപെടേണ്ടതിന്നു, യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അവര്ക്കും “ചട്ടത്തിന്മേല് ചട്ടം, ചട്ടത്തിന്മേല് ചട്ടം, സൂത്രത്തിന്മേല് സൂത്രം, സൂത്രത്തിന്മേല് സൂത്രം, ഇവിടെ അല്പം അവിടെ അല്പം” എന്നു ആയിരിക്കും.

13. But the Word of Jehovah was to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken and snared and taken.

14. അതുകൊണ്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലെ ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ അധിപതികളായ പരിഹാസികളേ, യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേള്പ്പിന് .

14. Therefore hear the Word of Jehovah, scornful men who rule this people in Jerusalem.

15. ഞങ്ങള് മരണത്തോടു സഖ്യതയും പാതാളത്തോടു ഉടമ്പടിയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രവഹിക്കുന്ന ബാധ ആക്രമിക്കുമ്പോള് അതു ഞങ്ങളോടു അടുത്തു വരികയില്ല; ഞങ്ങള് ഭോഷ്കിനെ ശരണമാക്കി വ്യാജത്തില് ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

15. Because you have said, We have made a covenant with death, and we have made a vision with hell; when the overwhelming rod shall pass through, it shall not come to us; for we have made lies our refuge, and we have hidden ourselves under falsehood,

16. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഇതാ, ഞാന് സീയോനില് ഉറപ്പുള്ള അടിസ്ഥാനമായിട്ടു ശോധനചെയ്ത കല്ലും വിലയേറിയ മൂലക്കല്ലും ആയി ഒരു അടിസ്ഥാനക്കല്ലു ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് ഔടിപ്പോകയില്ല.

16. therefore so says the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I place in Zion a Stone for a foundation, a tried Stone, a precious Cornerstone, a sure Foundation; he who believes shall not hurry.

17. ഞാന് ന്യായത്തെ അളവുചരടും നീതിയെ തൂക്കുകട്ടയും ആക്കിവേക്കും; കന്മഴ വ്യാജശരണത്തെ നീക്കിക്കളയും; വെള്ളം ഒളിപ്പിടത്തെ ഒഴിക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോകും.

17. Also I will lay judgment to the line, and righteousness to the plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

18. മരണത്തോടുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ സഖ്യത ദുര്ബ്ബലമാകും; പാതാളത്തോടുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉടമ്പടി നിലനില്ക്കയില്ല; പ്രവഹിക്കുന്ന ബാധ ആക്രമിക്കുമ്പോള് നിങ്ങള് തകര്ന്നു പോകും.

18. And your covenant with death shall be wiped out, and your vision with hell shall not stand; when the overwhelming rod shall pass through, then you shall be beaten down by it.

19. അതു ആക്രമിക്കുമ്പോഴൊക്കെയും നിങ്ങളെ പിടിക്കും; അതു രാവിലെതോറും രാവും പകലും ആക്രമിക്കും; അതിന്റെ ശ്രുതി കേള്ക്കുന്ന മാത്രെക്കു നടുക്കം ഉണ്ടാകും.

19. From the time that it goes out it shall take you; for morning by morning it shall pass over, by day and by night; and it shall be only a terror to understand the message.

20. കിടക്ക ഒരുത്തന്നു നിവിര്ന്നു കിടപ്പാന് നിളം പോരാത്തതും പുതെപ്പു പുതെപ്പാന് വീതി പോരാത്തതും ആകും.

20. For the bed is shorter than one can stretch himself on, and the cover is narrower than one can wrap himself in.

21. യഹോവ തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയെ തന്റെ ആശ്ചര്യപ്രവൃത്തിയെ തന്നേ, ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്റെ ക്രിയയെ, തന്റെ അപൂര്വ്വക്രിയയെ തന്നേ നടത്തേണ്ടതിന്നും പെറാസീംമലയില് എന്നപോലെ എഴുന്നേല്ക്കയും ഗിബെയോന് താഴ്വരയില് എന്നപോലെ കോപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

21. For Jehovah shall rise up as in Mount Perazim; He shall be angry as in the valley of Gibeon, so that He may do His work, His strange work; and bring to pass His act, His strange act.

22. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങളുടെ ബന്ധനങ്ങള് മുറുകിപ്പോകാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് പരിഹാസികള് ആയിരിക്കരുതു; സര്വ്വഭൂമിയിലും വരുവാന് നിര്ണ്ണയിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഒരു സംഹാരത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിങ്കല്നിന്നു കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. So then do not be mockers, lest your bands be made strong; for I have heard from the Lord Jehovah of Hosts that a full end is decreed on all the earth.

23. ചെവി തന്നു എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്പ്പിന് ; ശ്രദ്ധവെച്ചു എന്റെ വചനം കേള്പ്പിന് .

23. Give ear and hear my voice; listen, and hear my speech.

24. വിതെപ്പാന് ഉഴുന്നവന് ഇടവിടാതെ ഉഴുതുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? അവന് എല്ലായ്പോഴും നിലം കീറി കട്ട ഉടെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ?

24. Does the plowman plow all day to sow? Does he open and break the clods of his ground?

25. നിലം നിരപ്പാക്കീട്ടു അവന് കരിഞ്ജീരകം വിതെക്കയും ജീരകം വിതറുകയും കോതമ്പു ഉഴവു പൊളിയിലും യവം അതിന്നുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തും ചെറുകോതമ്പു അതിന്റെ അറ്റത്തും ഇടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലയോ?

25. When he has made the face of it level, does he not cast out the dill and scatter the cummin, and throw in the choice wheat and the chosen barley and the spelt in its border?

26. അങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ ദൈവം അവനെ യഥാക്രമം ഉപദേശിച്ചു പഠിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. For his God instructs him to do right; his God teaches him.

27. കരിഞ്ജീരകം മെതിവണ്ടികൊണ്ടു മെതിക്കുന്നില്ല; ജീരകത്തിന്മേല് വണ്ടിയുടെ ചക്രം ഉരുട്ടുന്നതുമില്ല; കരിഞ്ജീരകം വടികൊണ്ടും ജീരകം കോല്കൊണ്ടും തല്ലിയെടുക്കയത്രേ ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

27. For the dill is not threshed with a threshing instrument, nor is a cart wheel turned on cummin; but the dill is beaten out with a staff and the cummin with a rod.

28. മെതിക്കയില് ധാന്യം ചതെച്ചുകളയാറുണ്ടോ? അവന് അതിനെ എല്ലായ്പോഴും മെതിക്കയും വണ്ടിയുടെ ചക്രത്തെയും കുതിരകളെയും അതിന്മേല് തെളിക്കയും ചെയ്കയില്ലല്ലോ; അവന് അതിനെ ചതെച്ചുകളകയില്ല.

28. Bread grain is crushed, but not always does one thresh it with threshing. And he drives the wheel of his cart; and his horses do not beat it small.

29. അതും സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നു വരുന്നു; അവന് ആലോചനയില് അതിശയവും ജ്ഞാനത്തില് ഉല്കൃഷ്ടതയും ഉള്ളവനാകുന്നു.

29. This also comes out from Jehovah of Hosts, who is wonderful in wisdom, making sound wisdom great.
