1. ബെന്യാമീന് മക്കളേ, യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നടുവില്നിന്നു ഔടിപ്പോകുവിന് ; തെക്കോവയില് കാഹളം ഊതുവിന് ; ബേത്ത്--ഹക്കേരെമില് ഒരു തീക്കുറി ഉയര്ത്തുവിന് വടക്കു നിന്നു അനര്ഥവും മഹാ നാശവും കാണായ്വരുന്നു.

1. O ye children of Beniamin, prepare to flee out of the middes of Ierusalem, and blowe the trumpet in Tekoa: set vp a standart vpon Beth-haccerem: for a plague appeareth out of the North and great destruction.

2. സുന്ദരിയും സുഖഭോഗിനിയുമായ സീയോന് പുത്രിയെ ഞാന് മുടിച്ചുകളയും.

2. I haue compared the daughter of Zion to a beautifull and daintie woman.

3. അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ഇടയന്മാര് ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വരും; അവര് അവള്ക്കെതിരെ ചുറ്റിലും കൂടാരം അടിക്കും; അവര് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ഭാഗത്തു മേയിക്കും.

3. The pastors with their flockes shall come vnto her: they shall pitche their tentes rounde about by her, and euery one shall feede in his place.

4. അതിന്റെ നേരെ പടയൊരുക്കുവിന് ! എഴുന്നേല്പിന് ഉച്ചെക്കു തന്നേ നമുക്കു കയറിച്ചെല്ലാം! അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! നേരം വൈകി നിഴല് നീണ്ടുപോയി.

4. Prepare warre against her: arise, and let vs goe vp toward the South: wo vnto vs: for the day declineth, and the shadowes of the euening are stretched out.

5. എഴുന്നേല്പിന് ! രാത്രിയില് നാം കയറിച്ചെന്നു അതിലെ അരമനകളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുക!

5. Arise, and let vs goe vp by night, and destroy her palaces.

6. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം കല്പിക്കുന്നുവൃക്ഷം മുറിപ്പിന് ! യെരൂശലേമിന്നു നേരെ വാട കോരുവിന് ! സന്ദര്ശിക്കപ്പെടുവാനുള്ള നഗരം ഇതുതന്നേ; അതിന്റെ അകം മുഴുവനും പീഡനം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു;

6. For thus hath the Lord of hostes said, Hewe downe wood, and cast a mounte against Ierusalem: this citie must be visited: all oppression is in the middes of it.

7. കിണറ്റില് പച്ചവെള്ളം നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ അതില് എപ്പോഴും പുതിയ ദുഷ്ടത സംഭവിക്കുന്നു; സാഹസവും കവര്ച്ചയുമേ അവിടെ കേള്പ്പാനുള്ളു; എന്റെ മുമ്പില് എപ്പോഴും ദീനവും മുറിവും മാത്രമേയുള്ളു.

7. As the fountaine casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her malice: crueltie and spoyle is continually heard in her before me with sorowe and strokes.

8. യെരൂശലേമേ, എന്റെ ഉള്ളം നിന്നെ വിട്ടുപിരിയാതെയും ഞാന് നിന്നെ ശൂന്യവും നിര്ജ്ജനപ്രദേശവും ആക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഉപദേശം കൈക്കൊള്ക.

8. Be thou instructed, O Ierusalem, lest my soule depart from thee, lest I make thee desolate as a land, that none inhabiteth.

9. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ശേഷിപ്പിനെ മുന്തിരിപ്പഴംപോലെ അരിച്ചു പറിക്കും; മുന്തിരിപ്പഴം പറിക്കുന്നവനെപ്പോലെ നിന്റെ കൈ വീണ്ടും വള്ളികളിലേക്കു നീട്ടുക.

9. Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, They shall gather as a vine, the residue of Israel: turne backe thine hande as the grape gatherer into the baskets.

10. അവര് കേള്പ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് ആരോടു സംസാരിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കേണ്ടു? അവരുടെ ചെവിക്കു പരിച്ഛേദന ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴികയില്ല; യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അവര്ക്കും നിന്ദയായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും അതില് ഇഷ്ടമില്ല.

10. Vnto whome shall I speake, and admonish that they may heare? beholde, their eares are vncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: beholde, the worde of the Lord is vnto them as a reproche: they haue no delite in it.

11. ആകയാല് ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ ക്രോധംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു അടക്കിവെച്ചു ഞാന് തളര്ന്നുപോയി; ഞാന് അതു വീഥികളിലെ കുട്ടികളിന്മേലും യൌവനക്കാരുടെ സംഘത്തിന്മേലും ഒരുപോലെ ഒഴിച്ചുകളയും; ഭര്ത്താവും ഭാര്യയും വൃദ്ധനും വയോധികനും കൂടെ പിടിപെടും.

11. Therefore I am full of the wrath of the Lord: I am weary with holding it: I will powre it out vpon the children in the streete, and likewise vpon the assembly of the yong men: for the husband shall euen be taken with the wife, and the aged with him that is full of daies.

12. അവരുടെ വീടുകളും നിലങ്ങളും ഭാര്യമാരും എല്ലാം അന്യന്മാര്ക്കും ആയിപ്പോകും; ഞാന് എന്റെ കൈ ദേശത്തിലെ നിവാസികളുടെ നേരെ നീട്ടും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

12. And their houses with their landes, and wiues also shalbe turned vnto strangers: for I will stretch out mine hande vpon the inhabitants of the land, sayeth the Lord.

13. അവരൊക്കെയും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം ദ്രവ്യാഗ്രഹികള് ആകുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഒരുപോലെ വ്യാജം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

13. For from the least of them, euen vnto the greatest of them, euery one is giuen vnto couetousnesse, and from the Prophet euen vnto the Priest, they all deale falsely.

14. സമാധാനം ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കെ, സമാധാനം സമാധാനം എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുറിവിന്നു ലഘുവായി ചികിത്സിക്കുന്നു.

14. They haue healed also ye hurt of the daughter of my people with sweete woordes, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.

15. മ്ളേച്ഛത പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് ലജ്ജിക്കേണ്ടിവരും; അവര് ലജ്ജിക്കയോ നാണം അറികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു വീഴുന്നവരുടെ ഇടയില് അവര് വീണുപോകും; ഞാന് അവരെ സന്ദര്ശിക്കുന്ന കാലത്തു അവര് ഇടറി വീഴും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

15. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not ashamed, no neither coulde they haue any shame: therefore they shall fall among the slaine: when I shall visite them, they shall be cast downe, sayth the Lord.

16. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള് വഴികളില് ചെന്നു നല്ലവഴി ഏതെന്നു പഴയ പാതകളെ നോക്കി ചോദിച്ചു അതില് നടപ്പിന് ; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങളുടെ മനസ്സിന്നു വിശ്രാമം ലഭിക്കും. അവരോഞങ്ങള് അതില് നടക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. Thus sayeth the Lord, Stande in the waies and beholde, and aske for the olde way, which is the good way and walke therein, and yee shall finde rest for your soules: but they saide, We will not walke therein.

17. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കാവല്ക്കാരെ ആക്കികാഹളനാദം ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; എന്നാല് അവര്ഞങ്ങള് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. Also I set watchmen ouer you, which said, Take heede to the sound of the trumpet: but they said, We will not take heede.

18. അതുകൊണ്ടു ജാതികളേ, കേള്പ്പിന് ; സഭയേ, അവരുടെ ഇടയില് നടക്കുന്നതു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്ക.

18. Heare therefore, yee Gentiles, and thou Congregation knowe, what is among them.

19. ഭൂമിയോ, കേള്ക്ക; ഈ ജനം എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാതെ എന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു, ഞാന് അവരുടെ വിചാരങ്ങളുടെ ഫലമായി അനര്ത്ഥം അവരുടെമേല് വരുത്തും.

19. Heare, O earth, beholde, I will cause a plague to come vpon this people, euen the fruite of their owne imaginations: because they haue not taken heede vnto my woordes, nor to my Lawe, but cast it off.

20. ശെബയില്നിന്നു കുന്തുരുക്കവും ദൂരദേശത്തുനിന്നു വയമ്പും എനിക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതു എന്തിനു? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളില് എനിക്കു പ്രസാദമില്ല; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളില് എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടവുമില്ല.

20. To what purpose bringest thou mee incense from Sheba, and sweete calamus from a farre countrey? Your burnt offerings are not pleasant, nor your sacrifices sweete vnto me.

21. ആകയാല് യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഇടര്ച്ചകളെ വേക്കും; പിതാക്കന്മാരും പുത്രന്മാരും ഒരുപോലെ അതിന്മേല് തട്ടി വീഴും; അയല്ക്കാരനും കൂട്ടുകാരനും നശിച്ചുപോകും.

21. Therefore thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, I will laie stumbling blockes before this people, and the fathers and the sonnes together shall fall vpon them: the neighbour and his friende shall perish.

22. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഇതാ, വടക്കുദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഒരു ജാതി വരുന്നു; ഭൂമിയുടെ അറ്റങ്ങളില്നിന്നു ഒരു മഹാജാതി ഉണര്ന്നുവരും.

22. Thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, a people commeth from the North countrey, and a great nation shall arise from the sides of the earth.

23. അവര് വില്ലും കുന്തവും എടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് ക്രൂരന്മാര്; കരുണയില്ലാത്തവര് തന്നേ; അവരുടെ ആരവം കടല്പോലെ ഇരെക്കുന്നു; സീയോന് പുത്രീ, അവര് നിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധസന്നദ്ധരായി ഔരോരുത്തരും കുതിരപ്പുറത്തു കയറി അണിനിരന്നു നിലക്കുന്നു.

23. With bowe and shield shall they be weaponed: they are cruell and will haue no compassion: their voyce roareth like the sea, and they ride vpon horses, well appointed, like men of warre against thee, O daughter Zion.

24. അതിന്റെ വര്ത്തമാനം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ധൈര്യം ക്ഷയിച്ചു, നോവു കിട്ടിയ സ്ത്രീയെപ്പോലെ മഹാവ്യസനവും അതിവേദനയും ഞങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. We haue heard their fame, and our handes waxe feeble sorrowe is come vpon vs, as the sorrowe of a woman in trauaile.

25. നിങ്ങള് വയലിലേക്കു ചെല്ലരുതു; വഴിയില് നടക്കയുമരുതു; അവിടെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ വാളും ചുറ്റും ഭയവും ഉണ്ടു.

25. Goe not foorth into the fielde, nor walke by the way: for the sword of the enemie and feare is on euery side.

26. എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രീ, രട്ടുടുത്തു വെണ്ണീറില് ഉരുളുക; ഏകജാതനെക്കുറിച്ചു എന്നപോലെയുള്ള ദുഃഖവും കഠിനമായുള്ള വിലാപവും കഴിച്ചുകൊള്ക; സംഹാരകന് പെട്ടെന്നു നമ്മുടെ നേരെ വരും.

26. O daughter of my people, girde thee with sackecloth, and wallowe thy selfe in the ashes: make lamentation, and bitter mourning as for thine onely sonne: for the destroier shall suddenly come vpon vs.

27. നീ എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ നടപ്പു പരീക്ഷിച്ചറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നെ അവരുടെ ഇടയില് ഒരു പരീക്ഷകനും മാറ്റുനോക്കുന്നവനും ആക്കി വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. I haue set thee for a defence and fortresse among my people, that thou maiest knowe and trie their waies.

28. അവരെല്ലാവരും മഹാ മത്സരികള്, നുണപറഞ്ഞു നടക്കുന്നവര്; ചെമ്പും ഇരിമ്പും അത്രേ; അവരെല്ലാവരും വഷളത്വം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

28. They are all rebellious traitours, walking craftily: they are brasse, and yron, they all are destroyers.

29. തുരുത്തി ഊതുന്നു; തീയില്നിന്നു വരുന്നതു ഈയമത്രേ; ഊതിക്കഴിക്കുന്ന പണി വെറുതെ; ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് നീങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നില്ലല്ലോ.

29. The bellowes are burnt: the lead is consumed in the fire: the founder melteth in vaine: for the wicked are not taken away.

30. യഹോവ അവരെ ത്യജിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവര്ക്കും കറക്കന് വെള്ളി എന്നു പേരാകും. sയഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്തെന്നാല്

30. They shall call them reprobate siluer, because the Lord hath reiected them.
