1. യിസ്രായേലേ, നീ നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തെ വിട്ടു പരസംഗം ചെയ്തുനടക്കയും ധാന്യക്കളങ്ങളില് ഒക്കെയും വേശ്യാസമ്മാനം ആഗ്രഹിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കയാല് നീ ശേഷം ജാതികളെപ്പോലെ ഘോഷത്തോടെ സന്തോഷിക്കരുതു.

1. Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, like the peoples; for thou hast played the harlot, [departing] from thy God; thou hast loved hire upon every grain-floor.

2. കളവും ചക്കും അവരെ പോഷിപ്പിക്കയില്ല, പുതുവിഞ്ഞു അതില് ഇല്ലാതെയാകും.

2. The threshing-floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail her.

3. അവര് യഹോവയുടെ ദേശത്തു പാര്ക്കുംകയില്ല; എഫ്രയീം മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകയും അശ്ശൂരില്വെച്ചു മലിനമായതു തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും.

3. They shall not dwell in Jehovah's land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean food in Assyria.

4. അവര് യഹോവേക്കു വീഞ്ഞുപകര്ന്നു അര്പ്പിക്കയില്ല; അവരുടെ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങള് അവന്നു പ്രസാദമായിരിക്കയുമില്ല; അവരുടെ അപ്പം അവര്ക്കും വിലാപത്തിന്റെ അപ്പംപോലെയിരിക്കും; അതു തിന്നുന്നവനൊക്കെയും അശുദ്ധനായിത്തീരും; അവരുടെ അപ്പം വിശപ്പടക്കുവാന് മാത്രം അവര്ക്കും ഉതകും; അതു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു വരികയില്ല.

4. They shall not pour out wine-offerings to Jehovah, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted; for their bread shall be for their appetite; it shall not come into the house of Jehovah.

5. സഭായോഗദിവസത്തിലും യഹോവയുടെ ഉത്സവദിവസത്തിലും നിങ്ങള് എന്തു ചെയ്യും?

5. What will ye do in the day of solemn assembly, and in the day of the feast of Jehovah?

6. അവര് നാശത്തില്നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയാല് മിസ്രയീം അവരെ കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്ക്കും; മോഫ് അവരെ അടക്കംചെയ്യും; അവരുടെ വെള്ളികൊണ്ടുള്ള മനോഹരസാധനങ്ങള് തൂവേക്കു അവകാശമാകും; മുള്ളുകള് അവരുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളില് ഉണ്ടാകും.

6. For, lo, they are gone away from destruction; [yet] Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them; their pleasant things of silver, nettles shall possess them; thorns shall be in their tents.

7. സന്ദര്ശനകാലം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രതികാരദിവസം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ അകൃത്യബാഹുല്യവും മഹാദ്വേഷവും നിമിത്തം പ്രവാചകന് ഭോഷനും ആത്മപൂര്ണ്ണന് ഭ്രാന്തനും എന്നു യിസ്രായേല് അറിയും.

7. The days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the man that hath the spirit is mad, for the abundance of thine iniquity, and because the enmity is great.

8. എഫ്രയീം എന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നേരെ പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്നോ അവന്റെ എല്ലാവഴികളിലും വേട്ടക്കാരന്റെ കണിയും അവന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തില് പകയം നേരിടും.

8. Ephraim [was] a watchman with my God: as for the prophet, a fowler's snare is in all his ways, [and] enmity in the house of his God.

9. ഗിബെയയുടെ കാലത്തു എന്നപോലെ അവര് വഷളത്വത്തില് മുഴുകിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം ഔര്ത്തു അവരുടെ പാപം സന്ദര്ശിക്കും.

9. They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.

10. മരുഭൂമിയില് മുന്തിരിപ്പഴംപോലെ ഞാന് യിസ്രായേലിനെ കണ്ടെത്തി; അത്തിവൃക്ഷത്തില് ആദ്യം ഉണ്ടായ തലക്കനിപോലെ ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ കണ്ടു; ബാല്-പെയോരില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവര് തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ ലജ്ജാബിംബത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവരുടെ ഇഷ്ടദേവനെപ്പോലെ മ്ളേച്ഛതയുള്ളവരായ്തീര്ന്നു.

10. I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the first-ripe in the fig-tree at its first season: but they came to Baal-peor, and consecrated themselves unto the shameful thing, and became abominable like that which they loved.

11. എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ മഹത്വം പ്രസവമോ ഗര്ഭമോ ഗര്ഭോല്പാദനമോ ഒന്നും ഇല്ലാതാകുംവണ്ണം ഒരു പക്ഷിയെപ്പോലെ പറന്നുപോകും.

11. As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird: there shall be no birth, and none with child, and no conception.

12. അവര് മക്കളെ വളര്ത്തിയാലും ഞാന് അവരെ ഒരുത്തനും ശേഷിക്കാതവണ്ണം മക്കളില്ലാത്തവരാക്കും; ഞാന് അവരെ വിട്ടു മാറിപ്പോകുമ്പോള് അവര്ക്കും അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം!

12. Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, so that not a man shall be left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!

13. ഞാന് എഫ്രയീമിനെ സോര്വരെ കണ്ടെടത്തോളം അതു മനോഹരസ്ഥലത്തുള്ളോരു നടുതല ആകുന്നു; എങ്കിലും എഫ്രയീം തന്റെ മക്കളെ ഘാതകന്റെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലേണ്ടിവരും.

13. Ephraim, like as I have seen Tyre, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring out his children to the slayer.

14. യഹോവേ, അവര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കേണമേ; നീ എന്തുകൊടുക്കും? അലസിപ്പോകുന്ന ഗര്ഭവും വരണ്ട മുലയും അവര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കേണമേ.

14. Give them, O Jehovah -- what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

15. അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടതയൊക്കെയും ഗില്ഗാലില് സംഭവിച്ചു; അവിടെവെച്ചു അവര് എനിക്കു വെറുപ്പായി; അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികളുടെ ദുഷ്ടതനിമിത്തം ഞാന് ഇനി അവരെ സ്നേഹിക്കാതെ എന്റെ ആലയത്തില്നിന്നു അവരെ നീക്കിക്കളയും; അവരുടെ സകല പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും മത്സരികളത്രേ.

15. All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them: because of the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of my house; I will love them no more; all their princes are revolters.

16. എഫ്രയീമിന്നു പുഴുകൂത്തു പിടിച്ചു; അവരുടെ വേര് ഉണങ്ങിപ്പോയി; അവര് ഫലം കായിക്കയില്ല; അവര് പ്രസവിച്ചാലും ഞാന് അവരുടെ ഇഷ്ടകരമായ ഗര്ഭഫലത്തെ കൊന്നുകളയും.

16. Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay the beloved fruit of their womb.

17. അവര് എന്റെ ദൈവത്തെ അനുസരിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവന് അവരെ തള്ളിക്കളയും; അവര് ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ഉഴന്നു നടക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

17. My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him; and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
