1. സീയോനില് സ്വൈരികളായി ശമര്യ്യാപര്വ്വതത്തില് നിര്ഭയരായി ജാതികളില് പ്രധാനമായതില് ശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാരായി യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹം വന്നു ചേരുന്നവരായുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം!

1. Woe to those who are at ease in Tziyon, And to those who are secure on the mountain of Shomron, The notable men of the chief of the nations, To whom the house of Yisra'el come!

2. നിങ്ങള് കല്നെക്കു ചെന്നു നോക്കുവിന് ; അവിടെ നിന്നു മഹതിയായ ഹമാത്തിലേക്കു പോകുവിന് ; ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ഗത്തിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുവിന് ; അവ ഈ രാജ്യങ്ങളെക്കാള് നല്ലവയോ? അവയുടെ ദേശം നിങ്ങളുടെ ദേശത്തെക്കാള് വിസ്താരമുള്ളതോ?

2. Go to Kalneh, and see; And from there go to Hamat the great; Then go down to Gat of the Pelishtim. Are they better than these kingdoms? Or is their border greater than your border?

4. നിങ്ങള് ആനക്കൊമ്പു കൊണ്ടുള്ള കട്ടിലുകളിന്മേല് ചാരിയിരിക്കയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ശയ്യകളിന്മേല് നിവിര്ന്നു കിടക്കയും ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തില്നിന്നു കുഞ്ഞാടുകളെയും തൊഴുത്തില്നിന്നു പശുക്കിടാക്കളെയും തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

4. Who lie on beds of ivory, And stretch themselves on their couches, And eat the lambs out of the flock, And the calves out of the midst of the stall;

5. നിങ്ങള് വീണാനാദത്തോടെ വ്യര്ത്ഥസംഗീതം ചെയ്തു ദാവീദ് എന്നപോലെ വാദിത്രങ്ങളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

5. Who strum on the strings of a harp; Who invent for themselves instruments of music, like David;

6. നിങ്ങള് കലശങ്ങളില് വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കയും വിശേഷതൈലം പൂശുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; യോസേഫിന്റെ കേടിനെക്കുറിച്ചു വ്യസനിക്കുന്നില്ലതാനും.

6. Who drink wine in bowls, And anoint themselves with the best oils; But they are not grieved for the affliction of Yosef.

7. അതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് ഇപ്പോള് പ്രവാസികളില് മുമ്പരായി പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു പോകും; നിവിര്ന്നു കിടക്കുന്നവരുടെ മദ്യപാനഘോഷം തീര്ന്നുപോകും.

7. Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive; And the feasting and lounging will end.

8. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു തന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുഞാന് യാക്കോബിന്റെ ഗര്വ്വത്തെ വെറുത്തു അവന്റെ അരമനകളെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് പട്ടണവും അതിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും;

8. The Lord GOD has sworn by himself,' says the LORD, the God Tzva'ot,: 'I abhor the pride of Ya`akov, And detest his fortresses. Therefore I will deliver up the city with all that is in it.

9. ഒരു വീട്ടില് പത്തു പുരുഷന്മാര് ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്നാലും അവര് മരിക്കും;

9. It will happen, if there remain ten men in one house, That they shall die.

10. ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരന് , അവനെ ദഹിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടുന്നവന് തന്നേ, അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെ വീട്ടില്നിന്നു നീക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു പോകുമ്പോള് അവന് വീട്ടിന്റെ അകത്തെ മൂലയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നവനോടുനിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഇനി വല്ലവരും ഉണ്ടോ? എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്നതിന്നു അവന് ആരുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് അവന് യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തെ കീര്ത്തിച്ചുകൂടായ്കയാല് നീ മിണ്ടാതിരിക്ക എന്നു പറയും.

10. When a man's relative carries him, even he who burns him, to bring bodies out of the house, and asks him who is in the innermost parts of the house, 'Is there yet any with you?' And he says, 'No;' then he will say, 'Hush! Indeed we must not mention the name of the LORD.'

11. യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചിട്ടു വലിയ വീടു ഇടിഞ്ഞും ചെറിയ വീടു പിളര്ന്നും തകര്ന്നുപോകും.

11. 'For, behold, the LORD commands, and the great house will be smashed to pieces, And the little house into bits.

12. കുതിര പാറമേല് ഔടുമോ? അവിടെ കാളയെ പൂട്ടു ഉഴുമോ? എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ന്യായത്തെ നഞ്ചായും നീതിഫലത്തെ കാഞ്ഞിരമായും മാറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. Do horses run on the rocky crags? Does one plow there with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison, And the fruit of righteousness into bitterness;

13. നിങ്ങള് മിത്ഥ്യാവസ്തുവില് സന്തോഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടുസ്വന്തശക്തിയാല് ഞങ്ങള് പ്രാബല്യം പ്രാപിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

13. You who rejoice in a thing of nothing, who say, 'Haven't we taken for ourselves horns by our own strength?'

14. എന്നാല് യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ ഒരു ജാതിയെ എഴുന്നേല്പിക്കും; അവര് ഹമാത്തിലേക്കുള്ള പ്രവേശനംമുതല് അരാബയിലെ തോടുവരെ നിങ്ങളെ ഞെരുക്കും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

14. For, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, house of Yisra'el,' Says the LORD, the God Tzva'ot,; 'And they will afflict you from the entrance of Hamat to the brook of the `Aravah.'
