1. യിസ്രായേല് അഥാരീംവഴിയായി വരുന്നു എന്നു തെക്കെ ദേശത്തു വസിച്ചിരുന്ന കനാന്യനായ അരാദ്രാജാവു കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന് യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധം തുടങ്ങി ചിലരെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

1. And whan Arad the kynge of the Cananites (which dwelt towarde the south) herde, that Israel came in by ye waie yt the spyes had founde out, he fought agaynst Israel, and toke some of them presoners.

2. അപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേല് യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു നേര്ച്ച നേര്ന്നു; ഈ ജനത്തെ നീ എന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചാല് ഞാന് അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങള് ശപഥാര്പ്പിതമായി നശിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. Then vowed Israel a vowe vnto ye LORDE, and sayde: Yf thou wylt geue this people vnder my hande, I wyll vtterly destroye their cities.

3. യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു കനാന്യരെ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു; അവര് അവരെയും അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളെയും ശപഥാര്പ്പിതമായി നശിപ്പിച്ചു; ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ഹോര്മ്മാ എന്നു പേരായി.

3. And the LORDE herde ye voyce of Israel, and delyuered them the Cananites, and they vtterly destroyed them wt their cities also. And he called the place Horma.

4. പിന്നെ അവര് എദോംദേശത്തെ ചുറ്റിപ്പോകുവാന് ഹോര്പര്വ്വതത്തിങ്കല്നിന്നു ചെങ്കടല്വഴിയായി യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു; വഴിനിമിത്തം ജനത്തിന്റെ മനസ്സു ക്ഷീണിച്ചു.

4. Then departed they fro mount Hor on ye waye towarde the reed see, that they might go aboute the lande of the Edomites. And the soules of the people faynted by the waie

5. ജനം ദൈവത്തിന്നും മോശെക്കും വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചുമരുഭൂമിയില് മരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? ഇവിടെ അപ്പവുമില്ല, വെള്ളവുമില്ല; ഈ സാരമില്ലാത്ത ആഹാരം ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. and they spake agaynst God and agaynst Moses: Wherfore hast thou brought vs out of the lande of Egipte, to slaye vs in the wildernesse? For here is nether bred ner water, and oure soule lotheth this lighte meate.

6. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് അഗ്നിസര്പ്പങ്ങളെ അയച്ചു; അവ ജനത്തെ കടിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലില് വളരെ ജനം മരിച്ചു.

6. Than sent the LORDE fyrie serpentes amonge the people, which bote the peple, so that there dyed moch people in Israel.

7. ആകയാല് ജനം മോശെയുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; ഞങ്ങള് യഹോവേക്കും നിനക്കും വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചതിനാല് പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. സര്പ്പങ്ങളെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളവാന് യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; മോശെ ജനത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു.

7. The came they vnto Moses, and sayde: We haue synned, because we haue spoken agaynst the LORDE and agaynst the. Praye thou vnto the LORDE, that he take awaye the serpentes from vs. And Moses prayed for the people.

8. യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഒരു അഗ്നിസര്പ്പത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൊടിമരത്തിന്മേല് തൂക്കുക; കടിയേലക്കുന്നവന് ആരെങ്കിലും അതിനെ നോക്കിയാല് ജീവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Then sayde the LORDE vnto Moses: Make the a brasen serpente, and set it vp for a token. Who so euer is bytten, and loketh vpon it, shal lyue.

9. അങ്ങനെ മോശെ താമ്രംകൊണ്ടു ഒരു സര്പ്പത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൊടിമരത്തിന്മേല് തൂക്കി; പിന്നെ സര്പ്പം ആരെയെങ്കിലും കടിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് താമ്രസര്പ്പത്തെ നോക്കിയാല് ജീവിക്കും.

9. Then made Moses a serpent of brasse, and set it vp for a token: and whan a serpent had bytten eny man, he behelde the brasen serpente, and recouered.

10. അനന്തരം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഔബോത്തില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

10. And the children of Israel departed, and pitched in Oboth.

11. ഔബോത്തില്നിന്നു യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു സൂര്യോദയത്തിന്നു നേരെ മോവാബിന്റെ കിഴക്കുള്ള മരുഭൂമിയില് ഇയ്യെ-അബാരീമില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

11. And from Oboth they wente on, and pitched in Igim by Abarim in the wyldernesse ouer agaynst Moab, on the Eastsyde.

12. അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു സാരോദ് താഴ്വരയില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

12. From thence departed they, & pitched by the ryuer of Sared.

13. അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അമോര്യ്യരുടെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഉത്ഭവിച്ചു മരുഭൂമിയില് കൂടി ഒഴുകുന്ന അര്ന്നോന് തോട്ടിന്നക്കരെ പാളയമിറങ്ങി; അര്ന്നോന് മോവാബിന്നും അമോര്യ്യര്ക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ മോവാബിന്നുള്ള അതിര് ആകുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടു

13. From thence departed they, and pitched on this syde Arnon, which is in the wyldernesse, and commeth out of the coastes of the Amorites. For Arnon is the border betwixte Moab and ye Amorites.

14. “സൂഫയിലെ വാഹേബും അര്ന്നോന് താഴ്വരകളും ആരിന്റെ നിവാസത്തോളം നീണ്ടു.

14. Wherfore it is spoken in the boke of the warres of the LORDE: And go with violence both on the ryuer of Arnon,

15. മോവാബിന്റെ അതിരോടു ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന താഴ്വരച്ചരിവു” എന്നിങ്ങനെ യഹോവയുടെ യുദ്ധപുസ്തകത്തില് പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

15. & on the founteyne of the riuer, which boweth downewarde to dwell at Ar, & leaneth theron, to be the border of Moab.

16. അവിടെനിന്നു അവര് ബേരിലേക്കു പോയി; യഹോവ മോശെയോടുജനത്തെ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടുകഞാന് അവര്ക്കും വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു കല്പിച്ച കിണര് അതു തന്നേ.

16. And from thence they came to the well. This is the well, wherof the LORDE spake vnto Moses: gather the people together, I wil geue them water.

17. ആ സമയത്തു യിസ്രായേല്“കിണറേ, പൊങ്ങിവാ; അതിന്നു പാടുവിന് .

17. Then sange Israel this songe, and they sange one after another ouer the well:

18. പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് കുഴിച്ച കിണര്; ജനശ്രേഷ്ഠന്മാര് ചെങ്കോല്കൊണ്ടും തങ്ങളുടെ ദണ്ഡുകള്കൊണ്ടും കുത്തിയ കിണര് എന്നുള്ള പാട്ടുപാടി.

18. This is the well, that the prynces dygged: the nobles amonge the people haue digged it thorow ye teacher and their staues. And from this wildernes they wente vnto Mathana,

19. പിന്നെ അവര് മരുഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു മത്ഥാനെക്കും മത്ഥാനയില്നിന്നു നഹലീയേലിന്നും നഹലീയേലില്നിന്നു

19. & from Mathana vnto Nahaliel, and from Nahaliel to Bamoth,

20. ബാമോത്തിന്നും ബാമോത്തില്നിന്നു മോവാബിന്റെ പ്രദേശത്തുള്ള താഴ്വരയിലേക്കും മരുഭൂമിക്കെതിരെയുള്ള പിസ്ഗമുകളിലേക്കും യാത്രചെയ്തു.

20. and fro Bamoth vnto the valley that lieth in ye felde of Moab at the toppe of Pisga, and turneth towarde the wyldernesse.

21. അവിടെനിന്നു യിസ്രായേല് അമോര്യ്യരുടെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെ അടുക്കല് ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു

21. And Israel sent messaungers vnto Siho the kynge of the Amorrites, & caused to saye vnto him:

22. ഞാന് നിന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാന് അനുവദിക്കേണമേ; ഞങ്ങള് വയലിലെങ്കിലും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെങ്കിലും കയറുകയില്ല, കിണറ്റിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയുമില്ല; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്റെ അതിര്കഴിയുംവരെ രാജപാതയില്കൂടി തന്നേ പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

22. Let me go thorow ye lande, we wyl not turne in to ye feldes ner in to the vynyardes: nether will we drynke the water of the welles, ye hye strete wil we go, till we be past the borders of thy countre.

23. എന്നാല് സീഹോന് തന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി യിസ്രായേല് കടന്നുപോവാന് സമ്മതിക്കാതെ തന്റെ ജനത്തെയെല്ലാം ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവന് യാഹാസില് വന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു.

23. Howbeit Sihon wolde not geue the children of Israel licence to go thorow the coastes of his londe, but gathered all his people together, and wente out agaynst Israel in the wyldernesse. And whan he came to Iaheza, he fought agaynst Israel.

24. യിസ്രായേല് അവനെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലകൊണ്ടു വെട്ടി, അര്ന്നോന് മുതല് യബ്ബോക്ക്വരെയും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ അതിര്വരെയും ഉള്ള അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെ കൈവശമാക്കി; അമ്മോന്യരുടെ അതിരോ ഉറപ്പുള്ളതു ആയിരുന്നു.

24. Neuerthelesse Israel smote him with the edge of the swerde, and conquered his lande from Arnon vnto Iabock, and vnto the children of Ammon. For the borders of the children of Ammon were stroge.

25. ഈ പട്ടണങ്ങള് എല്ലാം യിസ്രായേല് പിടിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല് അമോര്യ്യരുടെ എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും കുടിപാര്ത്തു; ഹെശ്ബോനിലും അതിന്റെ സകല ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിലും തന്നേ.

25. So Israel toke all these cities, and dwelt in all the cities of ye Amorites, namely at He?bon, and in the townes belonginge therto.

26. ഹെശ്ബോന് അമോര്യ്യരുടെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെ നഗരം ആയിരുന്നു; അവന് മുമ്പിലത്തെ മോവാബ് രാജാവിനോടു പടയെടുത്തു അര്ന്നോന് വരെ ഉള്ള അവന്റെ ദേശമൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു പിടിച്ചിരുന്നു.

26. For He?bon the cite was Sihons the kynge of the Amorites, and he had foughten before with the kynge of the Moabites, and conquered all his londe from him vntyll Arnon.

27. അതുകൊണ്ടു കവിവരന്മാര് പറയുന്നതു“ഹെശ്ബോനില് വരുവിന് ; സീഹോന്റെ നഗരം പണിതുറപ്പിക്കട്ടെ.

27. Wherfore it is sayde in the prouerbe: Come vnto He?bon, let vs buylde and prepare ye cite of Sihon.

28. ഹെശ്ബോനില്നിന്നു തീയും സീഹോന്റെ നഗരത്തില്നിന്നു ജ്വാലയും പുറപ്പെട്ടു, മോവാബിലെ ആരിനെയും അര്ന്നോന് തീരത്തെ ഗിരിനിവാസികളെയും ദഹിപ്പിച്ചു.

28. For there is a fyre gone out of He?bon, and a flamme from the cite of Sihon, which hath consumed Ar of ye Moabites, and the citisens of ye toppe of Arnon.

29. മോവാബേ, നിനക്കു ഹാ കഷ്ടം! കെമോശിന്റെ ജനമേ, നീ മുടിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. അവന് തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ പലായനത്തിന്നും പുത്രിമാരെ അമോര്യ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോന്നു അടിമയായും കൊടുത്തു.

29. Wo vnto the Moab, thou people of Camos art vndone. His sonnes are put to flighte, & his doughters brought captyue vnto Sihon the kynge of the Amorites.

30. ഞങ്ങള് അവരെ അമ്പെയ്തു; ദീബോന് വരെ ഹെശ്ബോന് നശിച്ചു; മെദബവരെയുള്ള നോഫയോളം അവരെ ശൂന്യമാക്കി.”

30. Their glory is come to naught from He?bon vnto Dibon: waisted are they vnto Nopha, which reacheth vnto Mediba.

31. ഇങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല് അമോര്യ്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു കുടിപാര്ത്തു.

31. Thus dwelt Israel in the lande of the Amorites.

32. അനന്തരം മോശെ യസേരിനെ ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാന് ആളയച്ചു; അവര് അതിന്റെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചു അവിടെയുള്ള അമോര്യ്യരെ ഔടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

32. And Moses sent out spyes vnto Iahesar, & they toke the townes belongynge therto, & coquered the Amorites yt were therin.

33. പിന്നെ അവര് തിരിഞ്ഞു ബാശാന് വഴിയായി പോയി; ബാശാന് രാജാവായ ഔഗ് തന്റെ സകലജനവുമായി അവരുടെനേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു എദ്രെയില്വെച്ചു പടയേറ്റു.

33. And they turned, & wente vp the waye towarde Basan. Then Og the kynge of Basan wete out agaynst them wt all his people, to fight in Edrei.

34. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഅവനെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; അവനെയും അവന്റെ സകലജനത്തെയും അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും ഞാന് നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ ഹെശ്ബോനില് പാര്ത്ത അമോര്യ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോനോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവനോടും ചെയ്യും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

34. And ye LORDE sayde vnto Moses: Feare him not, for I haue geuen him wt his lande & people in to thy hande, & thou shalt do with him, as thou dyddest with Sihon the kynge of the Amorites, which dwelt at He?bon.

35. അങ്ങനെ അവര് അവനെയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവന്റെ സകലജനത്തെയും ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ സംഹരിച്ചു, അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെ കൈവശമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

35. And they smote him, & his sonnes, & all his people (so yt there remayned none) & coquered the londe.
