1. ഒരു പുരുഷന് ഒരു സ്ത്രീയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു വിവാഹം ചെയ്തശേഷം അവളില് ദൂഷ്യമായ വല്ലതും കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന്നു അവളോടു അനിഷ്ടം തോന്നിയാല് ഒരു ഉപേക്ഷണപത്രം എഴുതി കയ്യില് കൊടുത്തു അവളെ വീട്ടില്നിന്നു അയക്കേണം.

1. 'When a man, after marrying a woman and having relations with her, is later displeased with her because he finds in her something indecent, and therefore he writes out a bill of divorce and hands it to her, thus dismissing her from his house:

3. and the second husband, too, comes to dislike her and dismisses her from his house by handing her a written bill of divorce; or if this second man who has married her, dies;

4. then her former husband, who dismissed her, may not again take her as his wife after she has become defiled. That would be an abomination before the LORD, and you shall not bring such guilt upon the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you as a heritage.

5. 'When a man is newly wed, he need not go out on a military expedition, nor shall any public duty be imposed on him. He shall be exempt for one year for the sake of his family, to bring joy to the wife he has married.

6. തിരികല്ലാകട്ടെ അതിന്റെ മേല്ക്കല്ലാകട്ടെ ആരും പണയം വാങ്ങരുതു; അതു ജീവനെ പണയം വാങ്ങുകയല്ലോ.

6. 'No one shall take a hand mill or even its upper stone as a pledge for debt, for he would be taking the debtor's sustenance as a pledge.

7. ആരെങ്കിലും തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരായ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളില് ഒരുത്തനെ മോഷ്ടിച്ചു അവനോടു കാഠിന്യം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയോ അവനെ വിലെക്കു വില്ക്കയോ ചെയ്യുന്നതു കണ്ടാല് മോഷ്ടാവു മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം. ഇങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു ദോഷം നീക്കിക്കളയേണം.

7. 'If any man is caught kidnaping a fellow Israelite in order to enslave him and sell him, the kidnaper shall be put to death. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.

8. കുഷ്ഠരോഗത്തിന്റെ ബാധാകാര്യത്തില് ഏറ്റവും സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിപ്പാനും ലേവ്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാര് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചു തരുന്നതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്വാനും ജാഗ്രതയായിരിക്കേണം; ഞാന് അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ തന്നേ നിങ്ങള് ചെയ്യേണം.

8. 'In an attack of leprosy you shall be careful to observe exactly and to carry out all the directions of the levitical priests. Take care to act in accordance with the instructions I have given them.

9. നിങ്ങള് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടശേഷം നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ വഴിയില് വെച്ചു മിര്യ്യാമിനോടു ചെയ്തതു ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്ക.

9. Remember what the LORD, your God, did to Miriam on the journey after you left Egypt.

10. കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു എന്തെങ്കിലും വായിപ്പകൊടുക്കുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ പണയം വാങ്ങുവാന് വീട്ടിന്നകത്തു കടക്കരുതു.

10. 'When you make a loan of any kind to your neighbor, you shall not enter his house to receive a pledge from him,

11. നീ പുറത്തു നില്ക്കേണം; വായിപ്പവാങ്ങിയവന് പണയം നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരേണം.

11. but shall wait outside until the man to whom you are making the loan brings his pledge outside to you.

12. അവന് ദരിദ്രനാകുന്നുവെങ്കില് നീ അവന്റെ പണയം കൈവശം വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ഉറങ്ങരുതു.

12. If he is a poor man, you shall not sleep in the mantle he gives as a pledge,

13. അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പുതെച്ചു ഉറങ്ങി നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സൂര്യന് അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പോള് പണയം നീ അവന്നു മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കേണം; അതു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിനക്കു നീതിയായിരിക്കും.

13. but shall return it to him at sunset that he himself may sleep in it. Then he will bless you, and it will be a good deed of yours before the LORD, your God.

14. നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരിലോ നിന്റെ ദേശത്തു നിന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലുള്ള പരദേശികളിലോ ദരിദ്രനും അഗതിയുമായ കൂലിക്കാരനെ നീ പീഡിപ്പിക്കരുതു.

14. 'You shall not defraud a poor and needy hired servant, whether he be one of your own countrymen or one of the aliens who live in your communities.

15. You shall pay him each day's wages before sundown on the day itself, since he is poor and looks forward to them. Otherwise he will cry to the LORD against you, and you will be held guilty.

16. മക്കള്ക്കു പകരം അപ്പന്മാരും അപ്പന്മാര്ക്കും പകരം മക്കളും മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കരുതു; താന്താന്റെ പാപത്തിന്നു താന്താന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

16. 'Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children for their fathers; only for his own guilt shall a man be put to death.

17. പരദേശിയുടെയും അനാഥന്റെയും ന്യായം മറിച്ചുകളയരുതു; വിധവയുടെ വസ്ഡത്രം പണയം വാങ്ങുകയുമരുതു.

17. 'You shall not violate the rights of the alien or of the orphan, nor take the clothing of a widow as a pledge.

18. നീ മിസ്രയീമില് അടിമയായിരുന്നു എന്നും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നെ അവിടെനിന്നു വീണ്ടെടുത്തു എന്നും ഔര്ക്കേണം; അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു ഇക്കാര്യം ഞാന് നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതു.

18. For, remember, you were once slaves in Egypt, and the LORD, your God, ransomed you from there; that is why I command you to observe this rule.

19. നിന്റെ വയലില് വിളവു കൊയ്തിട്ടു ഒരു കറ്റ വയലില് മറന്നുപോന്നാല് അതിനെ എടുപ്പാന് മടങ്ങിപ്പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്റെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തിയിലും നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു പരദേശിക്കും അനാഥന്നും വിധവേക്കും ഇരിക്കട്ടെ.

19. 'When you reap the harvest in your field and overlook a sheaf there, you shall not go back to get it; let it be for the alien, the orphan or the widow, that the LORD, your God, may bless you in all your undertakings.

20. ഒലിവുവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലം തല്ലുമ്പോള് കൊമ്പു തപ്പിപ്പറിക്കരുതു; അതു പരദേശിക്കും അനാഥന്നും വിധവേക്കും ഇരിക്കട്ടെ.

20. When you knock down the fruit of your olive trees, you shall not go over the branches a second time; let what remains be for the alien, the orphan and the widow.

21. മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെ പഴം അറുത്തെടുക്കുമ്പോള് കാലാ പെറുക്കരുതു; അതു പരദേശിക്കും അനാഥന്നും വിധവേക്കും ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; നീ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു അടിമയായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഔര്ക്കേണം; അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു ഞാന് ഇക്കാര്യം നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതു.

21. When you pick your grapes, you shall not go over the vineyard a second time; let what remains be for the alien, the orphan, and the widow.
