1. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നതു വ്യര്ത്ഥമായില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങള് തന്നേ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

1. For ye yourselves brethren know of our entrance in unto you, how that it was not in vain:

2. നിങ്ങള് അറിയുംപോലെ ഞങ്ങള് ഫിലിപ്പിയില്വെച്ചു കഷ്ടവും അപമാനവും അനുഭവിച്ചിട്ടും വലിയ പോരാട്ടത്തോടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം നിങ്ങളോടു പ്രസംഗിപ്പാന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തില് ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

2. but even after that we had suffered before and were shamefully entreated at Philippos (as ye well know) then were we bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel(gospell) of God, with much striving.

3. ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രബോധനം അബദ്ധത്തില്നിന്നോ അശുദ്ധിയില്നിന്നോ വ്യാജത്തോടയോ വന്നതല്ല.

3. Our exhortation was not to bring you to error, nor yet to uncleanness, neither was it with guile:

4. ഞങ്ങളെ സുവിശേഷം ഭരമേല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തിന്നു കൊള്ളാകുന്നവരായി തെളിഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ഞങ്ങള് മനുഷ്യരെയല്ല ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം ശോധനചെയ്യുന്ന ദൈവത്തെ അത്രേ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു.

4. but as we were allowed of God, that the gospel(gospell) should be committed unto us: even so we speak, not as though we intended to please men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

5. നിങ്ങള് അറിയുംപോലെ ഞങ്ങള് ഒരിക്കലും മുഖസ്തുതിയോ ദ്രവ്യാഗ്രഹത്തിന്റെ ഉപായമോ പ്രയോഗിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ദൈവം സാക്ഷി.

5. Neither was our conversation at any time with flattering words (as ye well know) neither in cloaked covetousness,(nor waited for our own profit) God is record:

6. ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര് എന്ന അവസ്ഥെക്കു ഘനത്തോടെയിരിപ്പാന് കഴിവുണ്ടായിട്ടും ഞങ്ങള് മനുഷ്യരോടു, നിങ്ങളോടാകട്ടെ മറ്റുള്ളവരോടാകട്ടെ മാനം അന്വേഷിച്ചില്ല;

6. neither sought we praise of men, neither of you, nor yet of any other,(wother) when we might have been chargeable, as the apostles of Christ:

7. ഒരു അമ്മ തന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ പോറ്റുംപോലെ ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ആര്ദ്രതയുള്ളവരായിരുന്നു.

7. but were tender among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children,

8. ഇങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളെ ഔമനിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം പ്രസംഗിപ്പാന് മാത്രമല്ല, നിങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രിയരാകയാല് ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാണനും കൂടെ വെച്ചുതരുവാന് ഒരുക്കമായിരുന്നു.

8. so was our (heartily) affection toward you our good will was to have dealt unto you, not the gospel(gospell) of God only: but also our own souls,(lives) because ye were dear unto us.

9. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞങ്ങളുടെ അദ്ധ്വാനവും പ്രയാസവും നിങ്ങള് ഔര്ക്കുംന്നുവല്ലോ; നിങ്ങളില് ആര്ക്കും ഭാരമായിത്തീരരുതു എന്നു വെച്ചു ഞങ്ങള് രാവും പകലും വേല ചെയ്തു കൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

9. Ye remember brethren our labour and travail. For we laboured(wrought) day and night, because we would not be grievous(chargeable) unto any of you, and preached (unto) you the gospel(gospell) of God.

10. വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഞങ്ങള് എത്ര പവിത്രമായും നീതിയായും അനിന്ദ്യമായും നടന്നു എന്നതിന്നു നിങ്ങളും ദൈവവും സാക്ഷി.

10. Ye are witnesses, and so is God, how holily and justly (that no man could blame us)(and unblameably) we behaved ourselves among you that believe,

11. തന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്നും മഹത്വത്തിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ വിളിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്നു യോഗ്യമായി നടപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം

11. as ye know how that we exhorted and comforted, and besought every one of you, as a father his children,

12. ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളില് ഔരോരുത്തനെ അപ്പന് മക്കളെ എന്നപോലെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചും ഉത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ചും സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞും പോന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അറിയാമല്ലോ.

12. that ye would walk worthy of the Lord,(God) which hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

13. ഞങ്ങള് പ്രസംഗിച്ച ദൈവവചനം നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടു, മനുഷ്യന്റെ വചനമായിട്ടല്ല സാക്ഷാല് ആകുന്നതുപോലെ ദൈവവചനമായിട്ടു തന്നേ കൈക്കൊണ്ടതിനാല് ഞങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തെ ഇടവിടാതെ സ്തുതിക്കുന്നു; വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളില് അതു വ്യാപരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. For this cause thank we God without ceasing, because that when ye received of us the word, wherewith God was preached, ye received it not as the word of man: but even as it was in deed,(is of a trueth) the word of God, which worketh in you that believe.

14. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, യെഹൂദ്യയില് ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള ദൈവസഭകള്ക്കു നിങ്ങള് അനുകാരികളായിത്തീര്ന്നു. അവര് യെഹൂദരാല് അനുഭവിച്ചതു തന്നേ നിങ്ങളും സ്വജാതിക്കാരാല് അനുഭവിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

14. For ye brethren did counterfeit(became followers of) the congregations of God which in Jewry are in Christ Jesu: for ye have suffered like things of your kinsmen, as we our selves have suffered of the jews,

15. യെഹൂദര് കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിനെയും സ്വന്തപ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും കൊന്നവരും ഞങ്ങളെ ഔടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞവരും ദൈവത്തെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കാത്തവരും സകലമനുഷ്യര്ക്കും വിരോധികളും

15. which as they killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, even so have they persecuted us, and God they please not, and are contrary to all men:

16. ജാതികള് രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നായി ഞങ്ങള് അവരോടു പ്രസംഗിക്കുന്നതു വിലക്കുന്നവരും ആകുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ എപ്പോഴും പൂരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നാല് ദൈവക്രോധം അവരുടെമേല് മുഴുത്തുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. and forbid us to preach(speak) unto the gentiles, that they might be saved, to fulfil their sins: (always) For the wrath of God is come on them, even to(allready unto) the utmost.

17. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞങ്ങള് അല്പനേരത്തേക്കു ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ടല്ല, മുഖംകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ബഹു കാംക്ഷയോടെ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുഖം കാണ്മാന് ഏറ്റവും അധികം ശ്രമിച്ചു.

17. Forasmuch brethren as we are kept from you for a season, as concerning the bodily presence but not in the heart, we enforced(have haisted) the more to see you personally with great desire,

18. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വരുവാന് ഞങ്ങള്, വിശേഷാല് പൌലൊസായ ഞാന് , ഒന്നു രണ്ടുപ്രാവശ്യം വിചാരിച്ചു; എന്നാല് സാത്താന് ഞങ്ങളെ തടുത്തു.

18. and therefore we would have come unto you, I Paul once and again: but Satan withstood us.

19. നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ അവന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയില് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ആശയോ സന്തോഷമോ പ്രശംസാകിരീടമോ ആര് ആകുന്നു? നിങ്ങളും അല്ലയോ?

19. For what is our hope or joy, or crown of rejoicing? are not ye it in the presence(sight) of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

20. ഞങ്ങളുടെ മഹത്വവും സന്തോഷവും നിങ്ങള് തന്നേ.

20. Yea ye are our glory(praise) and joy.
