1. ഭാര്യ്യമാരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കീഴടങ്ങിയിരിപ്പിന് ; അവരില് വല്ലവരും വചനം അനുസരിക്കാത്തപക്ഷം ഭയത്തോടുകൂടിയ നിങ്ങളുടെ നിര്മ്മലമായ നടപ്പു കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞു

1. Likewise, ye wives, [be] in subjection to your own husbands, so that also those who do not obey the Word, may be won without a word by the conversation of their wives,

2. വചനം കൂടാതെ ഭാര്യമാരുടെ നടപ്പിനാല് ചേര്ന്നുവരുവാന് ഇടയാകും.

2. considering your chaste conversation which is in fear.

3. നിങ്ങളുടെ അലങ്കാരം തലമുടി പിന്നുന്നതും പൊന്നണിയുന്നതും വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കുന്നതും ഇങ്ങനെ പുറമേയുള്ളതല്ല,

3. Let their adorning not be outward with ostentatious hairdos and wearing of gold nor in composition of apparel,

4. സൌമ്യതയും സാവധാനതയുമുള്ള മനസ്സു എന്ന അക്ഷയഭൂഷണമായ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ഗൂഢമനുഷ്യന് തന്നേ ആയിരിക്കേണം; അതു ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് വിലയേറിയതാകുന്നു.

4. but [let] the interior adorning of the heart be without corruption, and of an agreeable spirit and peaceful, which is precious in the sight of God.

5. ഇങ്ങനെയല്ലോ പണ്ടു ദൈവത്തില് പ്രത്യാശവെച്ചിരുന്ന വിശുദ്ധസ്ത്രീകള് തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ അലങ്കരിച്ചു ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കീഴടങ്ങിയിരിരുന്നതു.

5. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who waited upon God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands,

6. അങ്ങനെ സാറാ അബ്രാഹാമിനെ യജമാനന് എന്നു വിളിച്ചു അനുസരിച്ചിരുന്നു; നന്മ ചെയ്തു യാതൊരു ഭീഷണിയും പേടിക്കാതിരുന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് അവളുടെ മക്കള് ആയിത്തീര്ന്നു.

6. as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, of whom ye are made daughters, doing well and not being afraid of any terror.

7. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനെക്കു മുടക്കം വരാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വിവേകത്തോടെ ഭാര്യമാരോടുകൂടെ വസിച്ചു, സ്ത്രീജനം ബലഹീനപാത്രം എന്നും അവര് ജീവന്റെ കൃപെക്കു കൂട്ടവകാശികള് എന്നും ഔര്ത്തു അവര്ക്കും ബഹുമാനം കൊടുപ്പിന് .

7. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] wisely, giving honour unto the woman, as unto a more fragile vessel and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers not be hindered.

8. തീര്ച്ചെക്കു എല്ലാവരും ഐകമത്യവും സഹതാപവും സഹോദരപ്രീതിയും മനസ്സലിവും വിനയബുദ്ധിയുമുള്ളവരായിരിപ്പിന് .

8. And finally, [be ye] all of one consent, of one affection, loving each other fraternally, merciful, courteous,

9. ദോഷത്തിന്നു ദോഷവും ശകാരത്തിന്നു ശകാരവും പകരം ചെയ്യാതെ നിങ്ങള് അനുഗ്രഹം അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരായിരിപ്പിന് .

9. not rendering evil for evil or curse for curse, but to the contrary, blessing, knowing that ye are called, that ye should possess a blessing by inheritance.

10. “ജീവനെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കയും ശുഭകാലം കാണ്മാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ദോഷം ചെയ്യാതെ തന്റെ നാവിനെയും വ്യാജം പറയാതെ അധരത്തെയും അടക്കിക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ.

10. For he that desires to love life and see the good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lips that they speak no guile;

12. For the eyes of the Lord [are] over the righteous, and his ears [are open] unto their prayers; but the face of the Lord [is] against those that do evil.

13. നിങ്ങള് നന്മ ചെയ്യുന്നതില് ശൂഷ്കാന്തിയുള്ളവര് ആകുന്നു എങ്കില് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ദോഷം ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ആര്?

13. And who [is] he that can harm you, if ye are followers of that which is good?

14. നീതിനിമിത്തം കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കേണ്ടി വന്നാലും നിങ്ങള് ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്. അവരുടെ ഭീഷണത്തിങ്കല് ഭയപ്പെടുകയും കലങ്ങുകയുമരുതു; എന്നാല് ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളില് കര്ത്താവായി വിശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പിന് .

14. But also if ye suffer anything for righteousness' sake, blessed [are ye]; therefore, be not afraid of their terror neither be troubled,

15. but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and [be] ready always to respond to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and reverence,

16. ക്രിസ്തുവില് നിങ്ങള്ക്കുള്ള നല്ല നടപ്പിനെ ദുഷിക്കുന്നവര് നിങ്ങളെ പഴിച്ചു പറയുന്നതില് ലജ്ജിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നല്ലമനസ്സാക്ഷിയുള്ളവരായിരിപ്പിന് .

16. having a good conscience, so that in that which they murmur against you as of evildoers, those that blaspheme your good conversation in the Christ may be confused.

17. നിങ്ങള് കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കേണം എന്നു ദൈവഹിതമെങ്കില് തിന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ല, നന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടു സഹിക്കുന്നതു ഏറ്റവും നന്നു.

17. For [it is] better (if the will of God so desires) that ye suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

18. ക്രിസ്തുവും നമ്മെ ദൈവത്തോടു അടുപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീതിമാനായി നീതികെട്ടവര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി പാപംനിമിത്തം ഒരിക്കല് കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിച്ചു, ജഡത്തില് മരണശിക്ഷ ഏല്ക്കയും ആത്മാവില് ജീവിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

18. For the Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in spirit,

19. ആത്മാവില് അവന് ചെന്നു, പണ്ടു നോഹയുടെ കാലത്തു പെട്ടകം ഒരുക്കുന്ന സമയം ദൈവം ദീര്ഘക്ഷമയോടെ കാത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് അനുസരിക്കാത്തവരായി തടവിലുള്ള ആത്മാക്കളോടു പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

19. in which he also went and preached unto the imprisoned spirits,

20. ആ പെട്ടകത്തില് അല്പജനം, എന്നുവെച്ചാല് എട്ടുപേര്, വെള്ളത്തില്കൂടി രക്ഷ പ്രാപിച്ചു.

20. which in the time past were disobedient, when once the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was [being] made ready, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

21. അതു സ്നാനത്തിന്നു ഒരു മുന് കുറി. സ്നാനമോ ഇപ്പോള് ജഡത്തിന്റെ അഴുകൂ കളയുന്നതായിട്ടല്ല, ദൈവത്തോടു നല്ല മനസ്സാക്ഷിക്കായുള്ള അപേക്ഷയായിട്ടത്രേ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്താല് നമ്മെയും രക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

21. Unto the figure of which the baptism that does now correspond saves us (not taking away the uncleanness of the flesh, but giving testimony of a good conscience before God) by the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ,

22. അവന് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു പോയി ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നു. ദൂതന്മാരും അധികാരങ്ങളും ശക്തികളും അവന്നു കീഴ്പെട്ടുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. who is at the right hand of God, having ascended into heaven, unto whom the angels and the authorities and powers are subject.:
