1. അനന്തരം എഫ്രയീമ്യര് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി വടക്കോട്ടു ചെന്നു യിഫ്താഹിനോടുനീ അമ്മോന്യരോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്വാന് പോയപ്പോള് കൂടെ പോരേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ വിളിക്കാഞ്ഞതു എന്തു? ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നെ അകത്തിട്ടു വീട്ടിന്നു തീ വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. And the men of Ephraim gathered them selues together, & went northwarde, & sayd vnto Iephthah: Wherfore wentest thou to fight against the children of Ammon, and dyddest not call vs to go with thee? we will therfore burne thine house vpon thee with fire.

2. യിഫ്താഹ് അവരോടുഎനിക്കും എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നും അമ്മോന്യരോടു വലിയ കലഹം ഉണ്ടായി; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ വളിച്ചപ്പോള് നിങ്ങള് അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു എന്നെ രക്ഷിച്ചില്ല.

2. And Iephthah sayde vnto them, I & my people were at great stryfe with the children of Ammon: And when I called you, ye deliuered me not out of their handes.

3. നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കയില്ലെന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോള് ഞാന് എന്റെ ജീവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു അമ്മോന്യരുടെ നേരെ ചെന്നു; യഹോവ അവരെ എന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു. ഇങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്വാന് ഇന്നു എന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. And when I sawe that ye deliuered me not, I put my lyfe in my handes, and went vpon the children of Ammon, and the Lorde deliuered them into my handes: Wherfore then are ye come vppon me nowe, to fight against me?

4. അനന്തരം യിഫ്താഹ് ഗിലെയാദ്യരെ ഒക്കെയും വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി, എഫ്രയീമ്യരോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു അവരെ തോല്പിച്ചു; ഗിലെയാദ്യരായ നിങ്ങള് എഫ്രയീമിന്റെയും മനശ്ശെയുടെയും മദ്ധ്യേ എഫ്രയീമ്യപലായിതന്മാര് ആകുന്നു എന്നു എഫ്രയീമ്യര് പറകകൊണ്ടു ഗിലെയാദ്യര് അവരെ സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

4. Iephthah therfore gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with the Ephraites. And the men of Gilead smote the Ephraites, because they sayd: Ye Gileadites are but runneagates of Ephraim, among the Ephraites and the Manassites.

5. ഗിലെയാദ്യര് എഫ്രയീംഭാഗത്തുള്ള യോര്ദ്ദാന്റെ കടവുകള് പിടിച്ചു; എഫ്രയീമ്യപലായിതന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തന് ഞാന് അക്കരെക്കു കടക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറയുമ്പോള് ഗിലെയാദ്യര് അവനോടുനീ എഫ്രയീമ്യനോ എന്നു ചോദിക്കും; അല്ല, എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞാല്

5. Moreouer, the men of Gilead toke the passages of Iordane before the Ephraites: And when those Ephraites that were escaped, said, Let me go ouer: then the men of Gilead sayde vnto hym, Art thou an Ephraite? If he sayde, nay:

6. അവര് അവനോടു ശിബ്ബോലെത്ത് എന്നു പറക എന്നു പറയും; അതു അവന്നു ശരിയായി ഉച്ചരിപ്പാന് കഴിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവന് സിബ്ബോലെത്ത് എന്നു പറയും. അപ്പോള് അവര് അവനെ പിടിച്ചു യോര്ദ്ദാന്റെ കടവുകളില്വെച്ചു കൊല്ലും; അങ്ങനെ ആ കാലത്തു എഫ്രയീമ്യരില് നാല്പത്തീരായിരം പേര് വീണു.

6. Then sayde they vnto him: Then say, Schibboleth. And he sayde, Sibboleth: for he coulde not so pronounce. And then they toke him, and slue him at the passages of Iordane: And there were ouerthrowen at that time of the Ephraites fourtie and two thousande.

7. യിഫ്താഹ് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ആറു സംവത്സരം ന്യായാധിപനായിരുന്നു; പിന്നെ ഗിലെയാദ്യനായ യിഫ്താഹ് മരിച്ചു, ഗിലെയാദ്യപട്ടണങ്ങളില് ഒന്നില് അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

7. And Iephthah iudged Israel six yeres, then died Iephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in [one of] ye cities of Gilead.

8. അവന്റെ ശേഷം ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമ്യനായ ഇബ്സാന് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ന്യായാധിപനായിരുന്നു.

8. After this man, iudged Israel one Ibzan of Bethlehem.

9. അവന്നു മുപ്പതു പുത്രന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് മുപ്പതു പുത്രിമാരെ കെട്ടിച്ചയക്കയും തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര്ക്കും മുപ്പതു കന്യകമാരെകൊണ്ടുവരികയും ചെയ്തു. അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഏഴു സംവത്സരം ന്യായാധിപനായിരുന്നു.

9. And he had thirtie sonnes and thirtie daughters, whom he sent out, and toke in thirtie daughters from abrode for his sonnes. And when Ibzan had iudged Israel seuen yere,

10. പിന്നെ ഇബ്സാന് മരിച്ചു ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില് അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

10. He died, & was buried at Bethlehem.

11. അവന്റെശേഷം സെബൂലൂന്യനായ ഏലോന് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ന്യായാധിപനായി പത്തു സംവത്സരം യിസ്രായേലില് ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്തു.

11. After him, Elon a Zabulonite iudged Israel ten yeres.

12. പിന്നെ സെബൂലൂന്യനായ ഏലോന് മരിച്ചു; അവനെ സെബൂലൂന് നാട്ടില് അയ്യാലോനില് അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

12. And Elon the Zabulonite died, & was buried in Aialon, in the countrey of Zabulon.

13. അവന്റെശേഷം ഹില്ലേലിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ദോന് എന്ന ഒരു പിരാഥോന്യന് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ന്യായാധിപനായിരുന്നു.

13. After him, Abdon the sonne of Hellel, a Pharathonite, iudged Israel.

14. എഴുപതു കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറി ഔടിക്കുന്ന നാല്പതു പുത്രന്മാരും മുപ്പതു പൌത്രന്മാരും അവന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു എട്ടു സംവത്സരം ന്യായധിപനായിരുന്നു.

14. And he had fourtie sonnes, and thirtie neuewes, that rode on threscore and ten asse coltes: And when Abdon the sonne of Hellel the Pharathonite had iudged Israel eight yeres,

15. പിന്നെ ഹില്ലേലിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ദോന് എന്ന പിരാഥോന്യന് മരിച്ചു; അവനെ എഫ്രയീംദേശത്തു അമാലേക്യരുടെ മലനാട്ടിലെ പിരാഥോനില് അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

15. He died, & was buryed in Pharathon in the lande of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.
