1. ഭൂമിയില് ഒക്കെയും ഒരേ ഭാഷയും ഒരേ വാക്കും ആയിരുന്നു.

1. There was a time when the whole world spoke one language. Everyone used the same words.

2. എന്നാല് അവര് കിഴക്കോട്ടു യാത്ര ചെയ്തു, ശിനാര്ദേശത്തു ഒരു സമഭൂമി കണ്ടു അവിടെ കുടിയിരുന്നു.

2. The people moved from the East and found a plain in the country of Shinar and stayed there to live.

3. അവര് തമ്മില്വരുവിന് , നാം ഇഷ്ടക അറുത്തു ചുടുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് ഇഷ്ടക കല്ലായും പശമണ്ണു കുമ്മായമായും ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.

3. Then they said to each other, 'Let's make some bricks of clay and bake them in the fire.' Then they used these bricks as stones, and they used tar as mortar.

4. വരുവിന് , നാം ഭൂതലത്തില് ഒക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോകാതിരിപ്പാന് ഒരു പട്ടണവും ആകാശത്തോളം എത്തുന്ന ഒരു ഗോപുരവും പണിക; നമുക്കു ഒരു പേരുമുണ്ടാക്കുക എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Then the people said, 'Let's build ourselves a city and a tower that will reach to the sky. Then we will be famous. This will keep us together so that we will not be scattered all over the earth.'

5. മനുഷ്യര് പണിത പട്ടണവും ഗോപുരവും കാണോണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു.

5. Then the Lord came down to see the city and the tower.

6. അപ്പോള് യഹോവഇതാ, ജനം ഒന്നു അവര്ക്കെല്ലാവര്ക്കും ഭാഷയും ഒന്നു; ഇതും അവര് ചെയ്തു തുടങ്ങുന്നു; അവര് ചെയ്വാന് നിരൂപിക്കുന്നതൊന്നും അവര്ക്കും അസാദ്ധ്യമാകയില്ല.

6. The Lord said, 'These people all speak the same language. And I see that they are joined together to do this work. This is only the beginning of what they can do. Soon they will be able to do anything they want.

7. വരുവിന് ; നാം ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു, അവര് തമ്മില് ഭാഷതിരിച്ചറിയാതിരിപ്പാന് അവരുടെ ഭാഷ കലക്കിക്കളക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

7. Let's go down and confuse their language. Then they will not understand each other.'

8. അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തിലെങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചു; അവര് പട്ടണം പണിയുന്നതു വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

8. So people stopped building the city, and the Lord scattered them all over the earth.

9. സര്വ്വഭൂമിയിലെയും ഭാഷ യഹോവ അവിടെവെച്ചു കലക്കിക്കളകയാല് അതിന്നു ബാബേല് എന്നു പേരായി; യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തില് എങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

9. That is the place where the Lord confused the language of the whole world. That is why it is called Babel. And it was from there that the Lord caused the people to spread out to all the other places on earth.

10. ശേമിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതുശേമിന്നു നൂറു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ജലപ്രളയത്തിന്നു പിമ്പു രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

10. This is the history of Shem's family. Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, his son Arphaxad was born.

11. അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശേം അഞ്ഞൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

11. After that Shem lived 500 years. He had other sons and daughters.

12. അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

12. When Arphaxad was 35 years old, his son Shelah was born.

13. ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം അര്പ്പക്ഷാദ് നാനൂറ്റിമൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

13. After Shelah was born, Arphaxad lived 403 years. During that time he had other sons and daughters.

14. ശാലഹിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

14. After Shelah was 30 years old, his son Eber was born.

15. ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശാലഹ് നാനൂറ്റി മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

15. After Eber was born, Shelah lived 403 years. During that time he had other sons and daughters.

16. ഏബെരിന്നു മുപ്പത്തിനാലു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

16. After Eber was 34 years old, his son Peleg was born.

17. പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ഏബെര് നാനൂറ്റിമുപ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

17. After Peleg was born, Eber lived another 430 years. During that time he had other sons and daughters.

18. പേലെഗിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

18. After Peleg was 30 years old, his son Reu was born.

19. രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം പേലെഗ് ഇരൂനൂറ്റൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

19. After Reu was born, Peleg lived another 209 years. During that time he had other sons and daughters.

20. രെയൂവിന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

20. After Reu was 32 years old, his son Serug was born.

21. ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം രെയൂ ഇരുനൂറ്റേഴു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

21. After Serug was born, Reu lived another 207 years. During that time he had other sons and daughters.

22. ശെരൂഗിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

22. After Serug was 30 years old, his son Nahor was born.

23. നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശേരൂഗ് ഇരുനൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

23. After Nahor was born, Serug lived another 200 years. During that time he had other sons and daughters.

24. നാഹോരിന്നു ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

24. After Nahor was 29 years old, his son Terah was born.

25. തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം നാഹോര് നൂറ്റി പത്തൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

25. After Terah was born, Nahor lived another 119 years. During that time he had other sons and daughters.

26. തേരഹിന്നു എഴുപതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് അബ്രാം, നാഹോര്, ഹാരാന് എന്നിവരെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

26. After Terah was 70 years old, his sons Abram, Nahor, and Haran were born.

27. തേരഹിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതുതേരഹ് അബ്രാമിനെയും നാഹോരിനെയും ഹാരാനെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ഹാരാന് ലോത്തിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

27. This is the history of Terah's family. Terah was the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran was the father of Lot.

28. എന്നാല് ഹാരാന് തന്റെ ജന്മദേശത്തുവെച്ചു, കല്ദയരുടെ ഒരു പട്ടണമായ ഊരില്വെച്ചു തന്നേ, തന്റെ അപ്പനായ തേരഹിന്നു മുമ്പെ മരിച്ചുപോയി.

28. Haran died in his hometown, Ur of Babylonia, while his father Terah was still alive.

29. അബ്രാമും നാഹോരും ഭാര്യമാരെ എടുത്തു; അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു സാറായി എന്നും നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു മില്ക്കാ എന്നും പേര്. ഇവള് മില്ക്കയുടെയും യിസ്കയുടെയും അപ്പനായ ഹാരാന്റെ മകള് തന്നെ.

29. Abram and Nahor both married. Abram's wife was named Sarai. Nahor's wife was named Milcah. Milcah was the daughter of Haran. Haran was the father of Milcah and Iscah.

30. സാറായി മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു; അവള്ക്കു സന്തതി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.

30. Sarai did not have any children because she was not able to have children.

31. തേരഹ് തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിനെയും ഹാരാന്റെ മകനായ തന്റെ പൌത്രന് ലോത്തിനെയും തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായി മരുമകളായ സാറായിയെയും കൂട്ടി കല്ദയരുടെ പട്ടണമായ ഊരില്നിന്നു കനാന് ദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുവാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവര് ഹാരാന് വരെ വന്നു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

31. Terah took his family and left Ur of Babylonia. They planned to travel to Canaan. Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot (Haran's son), and his daughter-in-law Sarai (Abram's wife). They traveled to the city of Haran and decided to stay there.

32. തേരഹിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ഇരുനൂറ്റഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു; തേരഹ് ഹാരാനില്വെച്ചു മരിച്ചു.

32. Terah lived to be 205 years old. He died in Haran.
