1. ഭൂമിയില് ഒക്കെയും ഒരേ ഭാഷയും ഒരേ വാക്കും ആയിരുന്നു.

1. The whole earth used the same language, the same words.

2. എന്നാല് അവര് കിഴക്കോട്ടു യാത്ര ചെയ്തു, ശിനാര്ദേശത്തു ഒരു സമഭൂമി കണ്ടു അവിടെ കുടിയിരുന്നു.

2. It came about that as they traveled from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shin'ar and lived there.

3. അവര് തമ്മില്വരുവിന് , നാം ഇഷ്ടക അറുത്തു ചുടുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര് ഇഷ്ടക കല്ലായും പശമണ്ണു കുമ്മായമായും ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.

3. They said to one another, 'Come, let's make bricks and bake them in the fire.' So they had bricks for building-stone and clay for mortar.

4. വരുവിന് , നാം ഭൂതലത്തില് ഒക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോകാതിരിപ്പാന് ഒരു പട്ടണവും ആകാശത്തോളം എത്തുന്ന ഒരു ഗോപുരവും പണിക; നമുക്കു ഒരു പേരുമുണ്ടാക്കുക എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Then they said, 'Come, let's build ourselves a city with a tower that has its top reaching up into heaven, so that we can make a name for ourselves and not be scattered all over the earth.'

5. മനുഷ്യര് പണിത പട്ടണവും ഗോപുരവും കാണോണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു.

5. ADONAI came down to see the city and the tower the people were building.

6. അപ്പോള് യഹോവഇതാ, ജനം ഒന്നു അവര്ക്കെല്ലാവര്ക്കും ഭാഷയും ഒന്നു; ഇതും അവര് ചെയ്തു തുടങ്ങുന്നു; അവര് ചെയ്വാന് നിരൂപിക്കുന്നതൊന്നും അവര്ക്കും അസാദ്ധ്യമാകയില്ല.

6. ADONAI said, 'Look, the people are united, they all have a single language, and see what they're starting to do! At this rate, nothing they set out to accomplish will be impossible for them!

7. വരുവിന് ; നാം ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു, അവര് തമ്മില് ഭാഷതിരിച്ചറിയാതിരിപ്പാന് അവരുടെ ഭാഷ കലക്കിക്കളക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

7. Come, let's go down and confuse their language, so that they won't understand each other's speech.'

8. അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തിലെങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചു; അവര് പട്ടണം പണിയുന്നതു വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

8. So from there ADONAI scattered them all over the earth, and they stopped building the city.

9. സര്വ്വഭൂമിയിലെയും ഭാഷ യഹോവ അവിടെവെച്ചു കലക്കിക്കളകയാല് അതിന്നു ബാബേല് എന്നു പേരായി; യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തില് എങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

9. For this reason it is called Bavel [[confusion]]- because there ADONAI confused the language of the whole earth, and from there ADONAI scattered them all over the earth.

10. ശേമിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതുശേമിന്നു നൂറു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ജലപ്രളയത്തിന്നു പിമ്പു രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

10. Here is the genealogy of Shem. Shem was 100 years old when he fathered Arpakhshad two years after the flood.

11. അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശേം അഞ്ഞൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

11. After Arpakhshad was born, Shem lived another 500 years and had sons and daughters.

12. അര്പ്പക്ഷാദിന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

12. Arpakhshad lived thirty-five years and fathered Shelach.

13. ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം അര്പ്പക്ഷാദ് നാനൂറ്റിമൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

13. After Shelach was born, Arpakhshad lived another 403 years and had sons and daughters.

14. ശാലഹിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

14. Shelach lived thirty years and fathered 'Ever.

15. ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശാലഹ് നാനൂറ്റി മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

15. After 'Ever was born, Shelach lived another 403 years and had sons and daughters.

16. ഏബെരിന്നു മുപ്പത്തിനാലു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

16. 'Ever lived thirty-four years and fathered Peleg.

17. പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ഏബെര് നാനൂറ്റിമുപ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

17. After Peleg was born, 'Ever lived another 430 years and had sons and daughters.

18. പേലെഗിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

18. Peleg lived thirty years and fathered Re'u.

19. രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം പേലെഗ് ഇരൂനൂറ്റൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

19. After Re'u was born, Peleg lived another 209 years and had sons and daughters.

20. രെയൂവിന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

20. Re'u lived thirty-two years and fathered S'rug.

21. ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം രെയൂ ഇരുനൂറ്റേഴു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

21. After S'rug was born, Re'u lived another 207 years and had sons and daughters.

22. ശെരൂഗിന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

22. S'rug lived thirty years and fathered Nachor.

23. നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശേരൂഗ് ഇരുനൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

23. After Nachor was born, S'rug lived another 200 years and had sons and daughters.

24. നാഹോരിന്നു ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

24. Nachor lived twenty-nine years and fathered Terach.

25. തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം നാഹോര് നൂറ്റി പത്തൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

25. After Terach was born, Nachor lived another 119 years and had sons and daughters.

26. തേരഹിന്നു എഴുപതു വയസ്സായപ്പോള് അവന് അബ്രാം, നാഹോര്, ഹാരാന് എന്നിവരെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

26. Terach lived seventy years and fathered Avram, Nachor and Haran.

27. തേരഹിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതുതേരഹ് അബ്രാമിനെയും നാഹോരിനെയും ഹാരാനെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ഹാരാന് ലോത്തിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

27. Here is the genealogy of Terach. Terach fathered Avram, Nachor and Haran; and Haran fathered Lot.

28. എന്നാല് ഹാരാന് തന്റെ ജന്മദേശത്തുവെച്ചു, കല്ദയരുടെ ഒരു പട്ടണമായ ഊരില്വെച്ചു തന്നേ, തന്റെ അപ്പനായ തേരഹിന്നു മുമ്പെ മരിച്ചുപോയി.

28. Haran died before his father Terach in the land where he was born, in Ur of the Kasdim.

29. അബ്രാമും നാഹോരും ഭാര്യമാരെ എടുത്തു; അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു സാറായി എന്നും നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യെക്കു മില്ക്കാ എന്നും പേര്. ഇവള് മില്ക്കയുടെയും യിസ്കയുടെയും അപ്പനായ ഹാരാന്റെ മകള് തന്നെ.

29. Then Avram and Nachor took wives for themselves. The name of Avram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nachor's wife was Milkah the daughter of Haran. He was the father of Milkah and of Yiskah.

30. സാറായി മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു; അവള്ക്കു സന്തതി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.

30. Sarai was barren- she had no child.

31. തേരഹ് തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിനെയും ഹാരാന്റെ മകനായ തന്റെ പൌത്രന് ലോത്തിനെയും തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായി മരുമകളായ സാറായിയെയും കൂട്ടി കല്ദയരുടെ പട്ടണമായ ഊരില്നിന്നു കനാന് ദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുവാന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവര് ഹാരാന് വരെ വന്നു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

31. Terach took his son Avram, his son Haran's son Lot, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Avram's wife; and they left Ur of the Kasdim to go to the land of Kena'an. But when they came to Haran, they stayed there.

32. തേരഹിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ഇരുനൂറ്റഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു; തേരഹ് ഹാരാനില്വെച്ചു മരിച്ചു.

32. Terach lived 205 years, and he died in Haran.
