1. അനന്തരം യാക്കോബ് തലപൊക്കി നോക്കി, ഏശാവും അവനോടുകൂടെ നാനൂറു ആളും വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു; തന്റെ മക്കളെ ലേയയുടെ അടുക്കലും റാഹേലിന്റെ അടുക്കലും രണ്ടു ദാസിമാരുടെ അടുക്കലും വിഭാഗിച്ചു നിര്ത്തി.

1. Then Jacob looked up and saw Esau coming with 400 men. So he divided the children among Leah and Rachel and the two women who served him.

2. അവന് ദാസിമാരെയും അവരുടെ മക്കളെയും മുമ്പായും ലേയെയും അവളുടെ മക്കളെയും പിന്നാലെയും റാഹേലിനെയും യോസേഫിനെയും ഒടുക്കമായും നിര്ത്തി.

2. He put the women who served him and their children in front, and Leah and her children behind them, and Rachel and Joseph behind them.

3. അവന് അവര്ക്കും മുമ്പായി കടന്നു ഏഴു പ്രാവശ്യം സാഷ്ടാംഗം നമസ്കരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു തന്റെ സഹോദരനോടു അടുത്തുചെന്നു.

3. Then Jacob went before them. He bowed to the ground seven times, until he came near his brother.

4. ഏശാവ് ഔടിവന്നു അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു, ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ കഴുത്തില് വീണു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു, രണ്ടുപേരും കരഞ്ഞു.

4. But Esau ran to meet him and put his arms around him and kissed him. And they cried.

5. പിന്നെ അവന് തലപൊക്കി സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും കണ്ടുനിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള ഇവര് ആര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചുതിന്നുദൈവം അടിയന്നു നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന മക്കള് എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Then Esau looked up and saw the women and the children. He said, 'Who are these with you?' Jacob said, 'They are the children whom God, in His loving-favor, has given your servant.'

6. അപ്പോള് ദാസിമാരും മക്കളും അടുത്തുവന്നു നമസ്കരിച്ചു;

6. Then the women who served Jacob came near with their children, and they bowed to the ground.

7. ലേയയും മക്കളും അടുത്തുവന്നു നമസ്കരിച്ചു; ഒടുവില് യോസേഫും റാഹേലും അടുത്തുവന്നു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

7. Leah also came near with her children, and they bowed to the ground. Then Joseph and Rachel came near and bowed to the ground.

8. ഞാന് വഴിക്കു കണ്ട ആ കൂട്ടമൊക്കെയും എന്തിന്നു എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുയജമാനന്നു എന്നോടു കൃപതോന്നേണ്ടതിന്നു ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Esau said, 'What do you mean by all these animals I have met?' And Jacob said, 'They are a gift so I may find favor in the eyes of my lord.'

9. അതിന്നു ഏശാവ്സഹോദരാ, എനിക്കു വേണ്ടുന്നതു ഉണ്ടു; നിനക്കുള്ളതു നിനക്കു ഇരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. But Esau said, 'I have enough, my brother. Keep what you have for yourself.'

10. അതിന്നു യാക്കോബ്അങ്ങനെയല്ല, എന്നോടു കൃപ ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് എന്റെ സമ്മാനം എന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വാങ്ങേണമേ; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുഖം കാണുന്നതുപോലെ ഞാന് നിന്റെ മുഖം കാണുകയും നിനക്കു എന്നോടു ദയ തോന്നുകയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ;

10. But Jacob said, 'No, I ask of you, if I have found favor in your eyes, then receive my gift. For I see your face as one sees the face of God. You have received me with favor.

11. ഞാന് അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കാഴ്ച വാങ്ങേണമേ; ദൈവം എന്നോടു കൃപ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു വേണ്ടുവോളം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവന് അതു വാങ്ങി.

11. Take my gift that has been brought to you. For God has shown loving-kindness to me, and I have all I need.' So he begged him until he took it.

12. പിന്നെ അവന് നാം പ്രയാണംചെയ്തു പോക; ഞാന് നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി നടക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Then Esau said, 'Let us be on our way. I will go with you.'

13. അതിന്നു അവന് അവനോടുകുട്ടികള് നന്നാ ഇളയവര് എന്നും കുറവുള്ള ആടുകളും കന്നുകാലികളും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നും യജമാനന് അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; അവയെ ഒരു ദിവസം അധികമായി ഔടിച്ചാല് കൂട്ടമെല്ലാം ചത്തുപോകും.

13. But Jacob said to him, 'My lord knows that the children are weak. And there are young ones in my flocks that need milk. If they are made to go a long way in one day, all the flocks will die.

14. യജമാനന് അടിയന്നു മുമ്പായി പോയാലും; എന്റെ കൂടെയുള്ള കന്നുകാലികളുടെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളുടെയും പ്രാപ്തിക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ഞാന് സാവധാനത്തില് അവയെ നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടു സേയീരില് യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Let my lord go in front of his servant. And I will be slow in coming to my lord at Seir. I will go as fast as the cattle in front of me and as the children are able.'

15. എന്റെ ആളുകളില് ചിലരെ ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് നിര്ത്തട്ടെ എന്നു ഏശാവു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഎന്തിന്നു? യജമാനന്റെ കൃപയുണ്ടായാല് മതി എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

15. So Esau said, 'Let me leave with you some of the people who are with me.' But Jacob said, 'What need is there? Let me find favor in the eyes of my lord.'

16. അങ്ങനെ ഏശാവ് അന്നു തന്റെ വഴിക്കു സേയീരിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

16. So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir.

17. യാക്കോബോ സുക്കോത്തിന്നു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു; തനിക്കു ഒരു വീടു പണിതു; കന്നുകാലിക്കൂട്ടത്തിന്നു തൊഴുത്തുകളും കെട്ടി; അതു കൊണ്ടു ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു സുക്കോത്ത് എന്നു പേര് പറയുന്നു.

17. But Jacob traveled to Succoth. He built his house there, and put up small buildings for his animals. So the name of the place is Succoth.

18. യാക്കോബ് പദ്ദന് -അരാമില്നിന്നു വന്നശേഷം കനാന് ദേശത്തിലെ ശേഖേംപട്ടണത്തില് സമാധാനത്തോടെ എത്തി പട്ടണത്തിന്നരികെ പാളയമടിച്ചു.

18. Now Jacob came in peace from Paddan-aram to the city of Shechem in the land of Canaan. And he put up his tents near the city.

19. താന് കൂടാരമടിച്ച നിലം ശെഖേമിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ഹമോരിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരോടു നൂറു വെള്ളിക്കാശിന്നു വാങ്ങി.

19. He bought the piece of land where he had put up his tents for one hundred pieces of money from the sons of Hamor, Shechem's father.

20. അവിടെ അവന് ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു, അതിന്നു ഏല്-എലോഹേ-യിസ്രായേല് എന്നു പേര് ഇട്ടു.

20. He built an altar there, and gave it the name El-Elohe-Israel.
