1. രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം ഫറവോന് ഒരു സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Two years later the king of Egypt dreamed he was standing beside the Nile River.

2. അവന് നദീതീരത്തു നിന്നു. അപ്പോള് രൂപഗുണവും മാംസപുഷ്ടിയുമുള്ള ഏഴു പശുനദിയില് നിന്നു കയറി, ഞാങ്ങണയുടെ ഇടയില് മേഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

2. Suddenly, seven fat, healthy cows came up from the river and started eating grass along the bank.

3. അവയുടെ പിന്നാലെ മെലിഞ്ഞും വിരൂപമായുമുള്ള വേറെ ഏഴു പശു നദിയില് നിന്നു കയറി, നദീതീരത്തു മറ്റേ പശുക്കളുടെ അരികെ നിന്നു.

3. Then seven ugly, skinny cows came up out of the river and

4. മെലിഞ്ഞും വിരൂപമായുമുള്ള പശുക്കള് രൂപ ഗുണവും മാംസപുഷ്ടിയുമുള്ള ഏഴു പശുക്കളെ തിന്നുകളഞ്ഞു; അപ്പോള് ഫറവോന് ഉണര്ന്നു.

4. ate the fat, healthy cows. When this happened, the king woke up.

5. അവന് പിന്നെയും ഉറങ്ങി, രണ്ടാമതും ഒരു സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടു; പുഷ്ടിയുള്ളതും നല്ലതുമായ ഏഴു കതിര് ഒരു തണ്ടില് നിന്നു പൊങ്ങി വന്നു.

5. The king went back to sleep and had another dream. This time seven full heads of grain were growing on a single stalk.

6. അവയുടെ പിന്നാലെ നേര്ത്തും കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റിനാല് കരിഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കുന്ന ഏഴു കതിര് പൊങ്ങിവന്നു.

6. Later, seven other heads of grain appeared, but they were thin and scorched by the east wind.

7. നേര്ത്ത ഏഴു കതിരുകള് പുഷ്ടിയും മണിക്കരുത്തുമുള്ള ഏഴു കതിരുകളെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് ഫറവോന് ഉണര്ന്നു, അതു സ്വപ്നം എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു.

7. The thin heads of grain swallowed the seven full heads. Again the king woke up, and it had only been a dream.

9. അപ്പോള് പാനപാത്രവാഹകന്മാരുടെ പ്രമാണി ഫറവോനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഇന്നു ഞാന് എന്റെ കുറ്റം ഔര്ക്കുംന്നു.

9. The king's personal servant said: Now I remember what I was supposed to do.

10. ഫറവോന് അടിയങ്ങളോടു കോപിച്ചു, എന്നെയും അപ്പക്കാരുടെ പ്രമാണിയെയും അകമ്പടിനായകന്റെ വീട്ടില് തടവിലാക്കിയിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

10. When you were angry with me and your chief cook, you threw us both in jail in the house of the captain of the guard.

11. അവിടെവെച്ചു ഞാനും അവനും ഒരു രാത്രിയില് തന്നേ സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടു; വെവ്വേറെ അര്ത്ഥമുള്ള സ്വപ്നം ആയിരുന്നു ഔരോരുത്തന് കണ്ടതു.

11. One night we both had dreams, and each dream had a different meaning.

12. അവിടെ അകമ്പടി നായകന്റെ ദാസനായ ഒരു എബ്രായ യൌവനക്കാരന് ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള് അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചാറെ അവന് സ്വപ്നങ്ങളെ വ്യാഖ്യാനിച്ചു; ഔരോരുത്തന്നു താന്താന്റെ സ്വപ്നത്തിന്റെ അര്ത്ഥം പറഞ്ഞുതന്നു.

12. A young Hebrew, who was a servant of the captain of the guard, was there with us at the time. When we told him our dreams, he explained what each of them meant,

13. അവന് അര്ത്ഥം പറഞ്ഞതു പോലെ തന്നേ സംഭവിച്ചു; എന്നെ വീണ്ടും സ്ഥാനത്തു ആക്കുകയും മറ്റവനെ തൂക്കിക്കളകയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

13. and everything happened just as he said it would. I got my job back, and the cook was put to death.

14. ഉടനെ ഫറവോന് ആളയച്ചു യോസേഫിനെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു. അവര് അവനെ വേഗത്തില് കുണ്ടറയില്നിന്നു ഇറക്കി; അവന് ക്ഷൌരം ചെയ്യിച്ചു, വസ്ത്രം മാറി, ഫറവോന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

14. The king sent for Joseph, who was quickly brought out of jail. He shaved, changed his clothes, and went to the king.

15. ഫറവോന് യോസേഫിനോടുഞാന് ഒരു സ്വപ്നം കണ്ടു; അതിനെ വ്യാഖ്യനിപ്പാന് ആരുമില്ല; എന്നാല് നീ ഒരു സ്വപ്നം കേട്ടാല് വ്യാഖ്യാനിക്കുമെന്നു നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. The king said to him, 'I had a dream, yet no one can explain what it means. I am told that you can interpret dreams.'

16. അതിന്നു യോസേഫ് ഫറവോനോടുഞാനല്ല ദൈവം തന്നേ ഫറവോന്നു ശുഭമായോരു ഉത്തരം നലകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. Your Majesty,' Joseph answered, 'I can't do it myself, but God can give a good meaning to your dreams.'

17. പിന്നെ ഫറവോന് യോസേഫിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ സ്വപ്നത്തില് ഞാന് നദീതീരത്തു നിന്നു.

17. The king told Joseph: I dreamed I was standing on the bank of the Nile River.

18. അപ്പോള് മാംസപുഷ്ടിയും രൂപഗുണവുമുള്ള ഏഴു പശു നദിയില്നിന്നു കയറി ഞാങ്ങണയുടെ ഇടയില് മേഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

18. I saw seven fat, healthy cows come up out of the river, and they began feeding on the grass.

19. അവയുടെ പിന്നാലെ ക്ഷീണിച്ചും മെലിഞ്ഞും എത്രയും വിരൂപമായുമുള്ള വേറെ ഏഴു പശു കയറി വന്നു; അത്ര വിരൂപമായവയെ ഞാന് മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു എങ്ങും കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല.

19. Next, seven skinny, bony cows came up out of the river. I have never seen such terrible looking cows anywhere in Egypt.

20. എന്നാല് മെലിഞ്ഞും വിരൂപമായുമുള്ള പശുക്കള് പുഷ്ടിയുള്ള മുമ്പിലത്തെ ഏഴു പശുക്കളെ തിന്നുകളഞ്ഞു;

20. The skinny cows ate the fat ones.

21. ഇവ അവയുടെ വയറ്റില് ചെന്നിട്ടും വയറ്റില് ചെന്നു എന്നു അറിവാനില്ലായിരന്നു; അവ മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ തന്നേ വിരൂപമുള്ളവ ആയിരുന്നു. അപ്പോള് ഞാന് ഉണര്ന്നു.

21. But you couldn't tell it, because these skinny cows were just as skinny as they were before. Right away, I woke up.

22. പിന്നെയും ഞാന് സ്വപ്നത്തില് കണ്ടതുനിറഞ്ഞതും നല്ലതുമായ ഏഴു കതിര് ഒരു തണ്ടില് പൊങ്ങിവന്നു.

22. I also dreamed that I saw seven heads of grain growing on one stalk. The heads were full and ripe.

23. അവയുടെ പിന്നാലെ ഉണങ്ങിയും നേര്ത്തും കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റിനാല് കരിഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കുന്ന ഏഴു കതിര് പൊങ്ങിവന്നു.

23. Then seven other heads of grain came up. They were thin and scorched by a wind from the desert.

24. നേര്ത്ത കതിരുകള് ഏഴു നല്ല കതിരുകളെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞു. ഇതു ഞാന് മന്ത്രവാദികളോടു പറഞ്ഞു; എന്നാല് വ്യാഖ്യാനിപ്പാന് ആര്ക്കും കഴഞ്ഞില്ല.

24. These heads of grain swallowed the full ones. I told my dreams to the magicians, but none of them could tell me the meaning of the dreams.

25. അപ്പോള് യോസേഫ് ഫറവോനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഫറവോന്റെ സ്വപ്നം ഒന്നുതന്നേ; താന് ചെയ്വാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നതു ദൈവം ഫറവോന്നു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

25. Joseph replied: Your Majesty, both of your dreams mean the same thing, and in them God has shown what he is going to do.

26. ഏഴു നല്ല പശു ഏഴു സംവത്സരം; നല്ല കതിരും ഏഴു സംവത്സരം; സ്വപ്നം ഒന്നു തന്നേ.

26. The seven good cows stand for seven years, and so do the seven good heads of grain.

27. അവയുടെ പിന്നാലെ കയറിവന്ന മെലിഞ്ഞും വിരൂപമായുമുള്ള ഏഴു പശുവും കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റിനാല് കരിഞ്ഞു പതിരായുള്ള ഏഴു കതിരും ഏഴു സംവത്സരം; അവ ക്ഷാമമുള്ള ഏഴു സംവത്സരം ആകുന്നു.

27. The seven skinny, ugly cows that came up later also stand for seven years, as do the seven bad heads of grain that were scorched by the east wind. The dreams mean there will be seven years when there won't be enough grain.

28. ദൈവം ചെയ്വാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നതു ഫറവോന്നു കാണിച്ചു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു അതാകുന്നു ഞാന് ഫറവോനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു.

28. It is just as I said--God has shown what he intends to do.

29. മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു ഒക്കെയും ബഹു സുഭിക്ഷമായ ഏഴു സംവത്സരം വരും.

29. For seven years Egypt will have more than enough grain,

30. അതു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ക്ഷാമമുള്ള ഏഴു സംവത്സരം വരും; അപ്പോള് മിസ്രയീം ദേശത്തു ആ സുഭിക്ഷതയൊക്കെയും മറന്നിരിക്കും; ക്ഷാമത്താല് ദേശം ഒക്കെയും ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകും.

30. but that will be followed by seven years when there won't be enough. The good years of plenty will be forgotten, and everywhere in Egypt people will be starving.

31. പിന് വരുന്ന ക്ഷാമം അതികഠിനമായിരിക്കയാല് ദേശത്തുണ്ടായിരുന്ന സുഭിക്ഷത അറിയാതെയായിപ്പോകും.

31. The famine will be so bad that no one will remember that once there had been plenty.

32. ഫറവോന്നു സ്വപ്നം രണ്ടുവട്ടം ഉണ്ടായതോ കാര്യം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കകൊണ്ടും ദൈവം അതിനെ വേഗത്തില് വരുത്തുവാനിരിക്കകൊണ്ടും ആകുന്നു.

32. God has given you two dreams to let you know that he has definitely decided to do this and that he will do it soon.

33. ആകയാല് ഫറവോന് വിവേകവും ജ്ഞാനവുമുള്ള ഒരുത്തനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തിന്നു മേലധികാരി ആക്കി വെക്കേണം.

33. Your Majesty, you should find someone who is wise and will know what to do, so that you can put him in charge of all Egypt.

34. അതുകൂടാതെ ഫറവോന് ദേശത്തിന്മേല് വിചാരകന്മാരെ ആക്കി, സുഭിക്ഷതയുള്ള ഏഴു സംവത്സരത്തില് മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തിലെ വിളവില് അഞ്ചിലൊന്നു വാങ്ങേണം.

34. Then appoint some other officials to collect one-fifth of every crop harvested in Egypt during the seven years when there is plenty.

35. ഈ വരുന്ന നല്ല സംവത്സരങ്ങളിലെ വിളവൊക്കെയും ശേഖരിച്ചു പട്ടണങ്ങളില് ഫറവോന്റെ അധീനത്തില് ധാന്യം സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കേണം.

35. Give them the power to collect the grain during those good years and to store it in your cities.

36. ആ ധാന്യം മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു വരുവാന് പോകുന്ന ക്ഷാമമുള്ള ഏഴുസംവത്സരത്തേക്കു ദേശത്തിന്നു സംഗ്രഹമായിട്ടിരിക്കേണം; എന്നാല് ദേശം ക്ഷാമം കൊണ്ടു നശിക്കയില്ല.

36. It can be stored until it is needed during the seven years when there won't be enough grain in Egypt. This will keep the country from being destroyed because of the lack of food.

37. ഈ വാക്കു ഫറവോന്നും അവന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാര്ക്കും ബോധിച്ചു.

37. The king and his officials liked this plan.

38. ഫറവോന് തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുദൈവാത്മാവുള്ള ഈ മനുഷ്യനെപ്പോലെ ഒരുത്തനെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. So the king said to them, 'No one could possibly handle this better than Joseph, since the Spirit of God is with him.'

39. പിന്നെ ഫറവോന് യോസേഫിനോടുദൈവം ഇതൊക്കെയും നിനക്കു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തി തന്നതു കൊണ്ടു നിന്നെപ്പോലെ വിവേകവും ജ്ഞാനവുമുള്ളവന് ഒരുത്തനുമില്ല.

39. The king told Joseph, 'God is the one who has shown you these things. No one else is as wise as you are or knows as much as you do.

40. നീ എന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു മേലധികാരിയാകും; നിന്റെ വാക്കു എന്റെ ജനമെല്ലാം അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കും; സിംഹാസനംകൊണ്ടു മാത്രം ഞാന് നിന്നെക്കാള് വലിയവനായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

40. I'm putting you in charge of my palace, and everybody will have to obey you. No one will be over you except me.

41. ഇതാ, മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും ഞാന് നിന്നെ മേലധികാരി ആക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു, എന്നും ഫറവോന് യോസേഫിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

41. You are now governor of all Egypt!'

42. ഫറവോന് തന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു മുദ്രമോതിരം ഊരി, യോസേഫിന്റെ കൈകൂ ഇട്ടു, അവനെ നേര്മ്മയുള്ള വസ്ത്രംധരിപ്പിച്ചു, ഒരു സ്വര്ണ്ണസരപ്പളിയും അവന്റെ കഴുത്തില് ഇട്ടു.

42. Then the king took off his royal ring and put it on Joseph's finger. He gave him fine clothes to wear and placed a gold chain around his neck.

43. തന്റെ രണ്ടാം രഥത്തില് അവനെ കയറ്റിമുട്ടുകുത്തുവിന് എന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് വിളിച്ചു പറയിച്ചു; ഇങ്ങനെ അവനെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും മേലധികാരിയാക്കി.

43. He also let him ride in the chariot next to his own, and people shouted, 'Make way for Joseph!' So Joseph was governor of Egypt.

44. പിന്നെ ഫറവോന് യോസേഫിനോടുഞാന് ഫറവോന് ആകുന്നു; നിന്റെ കല്പന കൂടാതെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു എങ്ങും യാതൊരുത്തനും കയ്യോ കാലോ അനക്കുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

44. The king told Joseph, 'Although I'm king, no one in Egypt is to do anything without your permission.'

45. ഫറവോന് യോസേഫിന്നു സാപ്നത്ത് പനേഹ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു; ഔനിലെ പുരോഹിതനായ പോത്തിഫേറയുടെ മകള് ആസ്നത്തിനെ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു. പിന്നെ യോസേഫ് മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു സഞ്ചരിച്ചു.

45. He gave Joseph the Egyptian name Zaphenath Paneah. And he let him marry Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, a priest in the city of Heliopolis. Joseph traveled all over Egypt.

46. യോസേഫ് മിസ്രയീംരാജാവായ ഫറവോന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിലക്കുമ്പോള് അവന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു യോസേഫ് ഫറവോന്റെ സന്നിധാനത്തില് നിന്നു പറപ്പെട്ടു മിസ്രയീം ദേശത്തു ഒക്കെയും സഞ്ചരിച്ചു.

46. Joseph was thirty when the king made him governor, and he went everywhere for the king.

47. എന്നാല് സുഭിക്ഷമായ ഏഴു സംവത്സരവും ദേശം സമൃദ്ധിയായി വിളഞ്ഞു.

47. For seven years there were big harvests of grain.

48. മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു സുഭിക്ഷത ഉണ്ടായ ഏഴു സംവത്സരത്തിലെ ധാന്യം ഒക്കെയും അവന് ശേഖരിച്ചു പട്ടണങ്ങളില് സൂക്ഷിച്ചു; ഔരോ പട്ടണത്തില് ചുറ്റുവട്ടത്തുള്ള നിലത്തിലെ ധാന്യം സൂക്ഷിച്ചു.

48. Joseph collected and stored up the extra grain in the cities of Egypt near the fields where it was harvested.

49. അങ്ങനെ യോസേഫ് കടല്കരയിലെ മണല്പോലെ എത്രയും വളരെ ധാന്യം ശേഖരിച്ചു വെച്ചു; അളപ്പാന് കഴിവില്ലായ്കയാല് അളവു നിര്ത്തിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

49. In fact, there was so much grain that they stopped keeping record, because it was like counting the grains of sand along the beach.

50. ക്ഷാമകാലം വരുംമുമ്പെ യോസേഫിന്നു രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാര് ജനിച്ചു; അവരെ ഔനിലെ പുരോഹിതനായ പോത്തിഫേറയുടെ മകള് ആസ്നത്ത് പ്രസവിച്ചു.

50. Joseph and his wife had two sons before the famine began.

51. എന്റെ സകല കഷ്ടതയും എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനം ഒക്കെയും ദൈവം എന്നെ മറക്കുമാറാക്കി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു യോസേഫ് തന്റെ ആദ്യജാതന്നു മനശ്ശെ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

51. Their first son was named Manasseh, which means, 'God has let me forget all my troubles and my family back home.'

52. സങ്കടദേശത്തു ദൈവം എന്നെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, അവന് രണ്ടാമത്തവന്നു എഫ്രയീം എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

52. His second son was named Ephraim, which means 'God has made me a success in the land where I suffered.'

53. മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുണ്ടായ സുഭിക്ഷതയുള്ള ഏഴു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്

53. Egypt's seven years of plenty came to an end,

54. യോസേഫ് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ക്ഷാമമുള്ള ഏഴു സംവത്സരം തുടങ്ങി; സകലദേശങ്ങളിലും ക്ഷാമമുണ്ടായി; എന്നാല് മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു എല്ലാടവും ആഹാരം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

54. and the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was not enough food in other countries, but all over Egypt there was plenty.

55. പിന്നെ മിസ്രയീം ദേശത്തു എല്ലാടവും ക്ഷാമം ഉണ്ടായപ്പോള് ജനങ്ങള് ആഹാരത്തിന്നായി ഫറവോനോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; ഫറവോന് മിസ്രയീമ്യരോടു ഒക്കെയുംനിങ്ങള് യോസേഫിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുവിന് ; അവന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുംപോലെ ചെയ്വിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

55. When the famine finally struck Egypt, the people asked the king for food, but he said, 'Go to Joseph and do what he tells you to do.'

56. ക്ഷാമം ഭൂതലത്തിലൊക്കെയും ഉണ്ടായി; യോസേഫ് പാണ്ടികശാലകള് ഒക്കെയും തുറന്നു, മിസ്രയീമ്യര്ക്കും ധാന്യം വിറ്റു; ക്ഷാമം മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തും കഠിനമായ്തീര്ന്നു.

56. The famine became bad everywhere in Egypt, so Joseph opened the storehouses and sold the grain to the Egyptians.

57. ഭൂമിയില് എങ്ങും ക്ഷാമം കഠിനമായയ്തീര്ന്നതുകൊണ്ടു സകലദേശക്കാരും ധാന്യം കൊള്ളുവാന് മിസ്രയീമില് യോസേഫിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

57. People from all over the world came to Egypt, because the famine was severe in their countries.
