1. Elijah was a prophet from the town of Tishbe in Gilead. He said to King Ahab, 'I serve the Lord, the God of Israel. By his power, I promise that no dew or rain will fall for the next few years. The rain will fall only when I command it to fall.'

3. Leave this place and go east. Hide near Kerith Ravine, on the east of the Jordan River.

4. തോട്ടില്നിന്നു നീ കുടിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം; അവിടെ നിനക്കു ഭക്ഷണം തരേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് കാക്കയോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. You can get your water from that stream, and I have commanded ravens to bring food to you there.'

5. അങ്ങനെ അവന് പോയി യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം ചെയ്തു; അവന് ചെന്നു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നു കിഴക്കുള്ള കെരീത്ത് തോട്ടിന്നരികെ പാര്ത്തു.

5. So Elijah did what the Lord told him to do. He went to live near Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan River.

6. Ravens brought Elijah food every morning and every evening, and he drank water from the stream.

7. എന്നാല് ദേശത്തു മഴ പെയ്യായ്കയാല് കുറെ ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം തോടു വറ്റിപ്പോയി.

7. There was no rain, so after a while the stream became dry.

8. Then the Lord said to Elijah,

9. 'Go to Zarephath in Sidon and stay there. There is a widow there that I commanded to take care of you.'

10. അങ്ങനെ അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു സാരെഫാത്തിന്നു പോയി. അവന് പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല് എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവിടെ ഒരു വിധവ വിറകു പെറുക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. അവന് അവളെ വിളിച്ചുഎനിക്കു കുടിപ്പാന് ഒരു പാത്രത്തില് കുറെ വെള്ളം കൊണ്ടുവരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. So Elijah went to Zarephath. He went to the town gate and saw a woman there gathering wood for a fire. She was a widow. Elijah said to her, 'Would you bring me a small cup water to drink?'

11. അവള് കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് പോകുമ്പോള് ഒരു കഷണം അപ്പവും കൂടെ നിന്റെ കയ്യില് കൊണ്ടുപോരേണമേ എന്നു അവന് അവളോടു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

11. As she was going to get the water, Elijah said, 'Bring me a piece of bread too, please.'

12. The woman answered, 'I promise you, before the Lord your God, that I have nothing but a handful of flour in a jar and a little bit of olive oil in a jug. I came here to gather a few pieces of wood for a fire to cook our last meal. My son and I will eat it and then die from hunger.'

13. ഏലീയാവു അവളോടുഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ചെന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ചെയ്ക; എന്നാല് ആദ്യം എനിക്കു ചെറിയോരു അട ഉണ്ടാക്കി കൊണ്ടുവരിക; പിന്നെ നിനക്കും നിന്റെ മകന്നും വേണ്ടി ഉണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊള്ക.

13. Elijah said to the woman, 'Don't worry. Go home and cook your food as you said. But first make a small piece of bread from the flour that you have and bring it to me. Then cook some for yourself and your son.

14. യഹോവ ഭൂമിയില് മഴ പെയ്യിക്കുന്ന നാള്വരെ കലത്തിലെ മാവു തീര്ന്നുപോകയില്ല; ഭരണിയിലെ എണ്ണ കുറഞ്ഞുപോകയും ഇല്ല എന്നു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. The Lord, the God of Israel, says, 'That jar of flour will never be empty and the jug will always have oil in it. This will continue until the day the Lord sends rain to the land.''

15. അവള് ചെന്നു ഏലീയാവു പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു; അങ്ങനെ അവളും അവനും അവളുടെ വീട്ടുകാരും ഏറിയനാള് അഹോവൃത്തികഴിച്ചു.

15. So the woman went home and did what Elijah told her to do. And Elijah, the woman, and her son had enough food for a long time.

16. യഹോവ ഏലീയാവുമുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചന പ്രകാരം കലത്തിലെ മാവു തീര്ന്നുപോയില്ല, ഭരണിയിലെ എണ്ണ കുറഞ്ഞുപോയതുമില്ല.

16. The jar of flour and the jug of oil were never empty. This happened just as the Lord said through Elijah.

17. Some time later the woman's son became sick. He became worse and worse until he stopped breathing.

18. അപ്പോള് അവള് ഏലീയാവോടുഅയ്യോ ദൈവപുരുഷനേ, എനിക്കും നിനക്കും തമ്മില് എന്തു? എന്റെ പാപം ഔര്പ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും എന്റെ മകനെ കൊല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നും ആകുന്നുവോ നീ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Then the woman said to Elijah, 'You are a man of God. Can you help me? Or did you come here only to remind me of my sins and to make my son die?'

19. അവന് അവളോടുനിന്റെ മകനെ ഇങ്ങു തരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവനെ അവളുടെ മടിയില്നിന്നെടുത്തു താന് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന മാളികമുറിയില് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു തന്റെ കട്ടിലിന്മേല് കിടത്തി.

19. Elijah said to her, 'Give me your son.' He took the boy from her and carried him upstairs. He laid him on the bed in the room where he was staying.

20. അവന് യഹോവയോടുഎന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, ഞാന് വന്നു പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ഇവിടത്തെ വിധവയുടെ മകനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നീ അവള്ക്കു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തിയോ എന്നു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

20. Then Elijah prayed, 'Lord my God, this widow is letting me stay in her house. Will you do this bad thing to her? Will you cause her son to die?'

21. പിന്നെ അവന് കുട്ടിയുടെ മേല് മൂന്നുപ്രാവശ്യം കവിണ്ണുകിടന്നുഎന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, ഈ കുട്ടിയുടെ പ്രാണന് അവനില് മടങ്ങിവരുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു.

21. Then Elijah lay on top of the boy three times. He prayed, 'Lord my God, let this boy live again!'

22. യഹോവ ഏലീയാവിന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കേട്ടു; കുട്ടിയുടെ പ്രാണന് അവനില് മടങ്ങിവന്നു അവന് ജീവിച്ചു.

22. The Lord answered Elijah's prayer. The boy began breathing again and was alive.

23. ഏലീയാവു കുട്ടിയെ എടുത്തു മാളികയില്നിന്നു താഴെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു കൊടുത്തുഇതാ, നിന്റെ മകന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഏലിയാവു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. Elijah carried the boy downstairs, gave him to his mother, and said, 'Look, your son is alive!'

24. സ്ത്രീ ഏലീയാവോടുനീ ദൈവപുരുഷന് എന്നും നിന്റെ നാവിന്മേലുള്ള യഹോവയുടെ വചനം സത്യമെന്നും ഞാന് ഇതിനാല് അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. The woman answered, 'Now I know that you really are a man from God. I know that the Lord really speaks through you!'
