1. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം സംഭവിച്ചതുയിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്നു യിസ്രെയേലില് ശമര്യരാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ അരമനയുടെ സമീപത്തു ഒരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

1. And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.

2. ആഹാബ് നാബോത്തിനോടുനിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം എനിക്കു ചീരത്തോട്ടം ആക്കുവാന് തരേണം; അതു എന്റെ അരമനെക്കു സമീപമല്ലോ. അതിന്നു പകരം ഞാന് അതിനെക്കാള് വിശേഷമായോരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം നിനക്കു തരാം; അല്ല, നിനക്കു സമ്മതമെങ്കില് ഞാന് അതിന്റെ വില നിനക്കു പണമായിട്ടു തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near to my house: and I will give you for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to you, I will give you the worth of it in money.

3. നാബോത്ത് ആഹാബിനോടുഞാന് എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അവകാശം നിനക്കു തരുവാന് യഹോവ സംഗതിവരുത്തരുതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you.

4. യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്ത്എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അവകാശം ഞാന് നിനക്കു തരികയില്ല എന്നു തന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുനിമിത്തം ആഹാബ് വ്യസനവും നീരസവും പൂണ്ടു തന്റെ അരമനയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു; ഭക്ഷണം ഒന്നും കഴിക്കാതെ കട്ടിലിന്മേല് മുഖം തിരിച്ചു കിടന്നു.

4. And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.

5. അപ്പോള് അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഈസേബെല് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുഭക്ഷണം ഒന്നും കഴിക്കാതെ ഇത്ര വ്യസനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

5. But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him, Why is your spirit so sad, that you eat no bread?

6. അവന് അവളോടുഞാന് യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിനോടുനിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം എനിക്കു വിലെക്കു തരേണം; അല്ല, നിനക്കു സമ്മതമെങ്കില് അതിന്നു പകരം വേറെ മുന്തിരത്തോട്ടം ഞാന് നിനക്കു തരാമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; എന്നാല് അവന് ഞാന് എന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം നിനക്കു തരികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടത്രേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And he said to her, Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him, Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it please you, I will give you another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give you my vineyard.

7. അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഈസേബെല് അവനോടുനീ ഇന്നു യിസ്രായേലില് രാജ്യഭാരം വഹിക്കുന്നുവോ? എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്ക; നിന്റെ മനസ്സു തെളിയട്ടെ; യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഞാന് നിനക്കു തരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And Jezebel his wife said to him, Do you now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let your heart be merry: I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.

8. അങ്ങനെ അവള് ആഹാബിന്റെ പേര്വെച്ചു എഴുത്തു എഴുതി അവന്റെ മുദ്രകൊണ്ടു മുദ്രയിട്ടു; എഴുത്തു നാബോത്തിന്റെ പട്ടണത്തില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന മൂപ്പന്മാര്ക്കും പ്രധാനികള്ക്കും അയച്ചു.

8. So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth.

9. എഴുത്തില് അവള് എഴുതിയിരുന്നതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള് ഒരു ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കി നാബോത്തിനെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് പ്രധാനസ്ഥലം കൊടുത്തു ഇരുത്തുവിന് .

9. And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people:

10. നീചന്മാരായ രണ്ടാളുകളെ അവന്നെതിരെ നിര്ത്തിഅവന് ദൈവത്തെയും രാജാവിനെയും ദുഷിച്ചു എന്നു അവന്നു വിരോധമായി സാക്ഷ്യം പറയിപ്പിന് ; പിന്നെ നിങ്ങള് അവനെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞുകൊല്ലേണം.

10. And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, You did blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.

11. അവന്റെ പട്ടണത്തില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന മൂപ്പന്മാരും പ്രധാനികളുമായ പൌരന്മാര് ഈസേബെല് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതു പോലെയും അവള് കൊടുത്തയച്ച എഴുത്തില് എഴുതിയിരുന്നതുപോലെയും ചെയ്തു.

11. And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent to them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent to them.

12. അവര് ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധംചെയ്തു, നാബോത്തിനെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് പ്രധാനസ്ഥലത്തിരുത്തി.

12. They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.

13. നീചന്മാരായ രണ്ടു ആളുകള് വന്നു അവന്റെ നേരെ ഇരുന്നു; നാബോത്ത് ദൈവത്തേയും രാജാവിനെയും ദുഷിച്ചു എന്നു ആ നീചന്മാര് ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് അവന്നു വിരോധമായി, നാബോത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി തന്നേ, സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞു. അവര് അവനെ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടു പോയി കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

13. And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

14. നാബോത്ത് കല്ലേറുകൊണ്ടു മരിച്ചു എന്നു അവര് ഈസേബെലിന്നു വര്ത്തമാനം പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

14. Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.

15. നാബോത്ത് കല്ലേറുകൊണ്ടു മരിച്ചു എന്നു ഈസേബെല് കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവള് ആഹാബിനോടുനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിനക്കു വിലെക്കു തരുവാന് മനസ്സില്ലാത്ത യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം കൈവശമാക്കിക്കൊള്ക; നാബോത്ത് ജീവനോടെയില്ല; മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.

16. നാബോത്ത് മരിച്ചു എന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോള് ആഹാബ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം കൈവശമാക്കുവാന് അവിടേക്കു പോയി.

16. And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.

17. എന്നാല് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു തിശ്ബ്യനായ ഏലീയാവിന്നുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

17. And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

18. നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശമര്യയിലെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാബിനെ എതിരേല്പാന് ചെല്ലുക; ഇതാ, അവന് നാബോത്തിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം കൈവശമാക്കുവാന് അവിടേക്കു പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, where he is gone down to possess it.

19. നീ അവനോടുനീ കുലചെയ്കയും കൈവശമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുവോ എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിക്കന്നു. നായ്ക്കള് നാബോത്തിന്റെ രക്തം നക്കിയ സ്ഥലത്തു വെച്ചു തന്നേ നിന്റെ രക്തവും നക്കിക്കളയും എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നീ അവനോടു പറക.

19. And you shall speak to him, saying, Thus said the LORD, Have you killed, and also taken possession? And you shall speak to him, saying, Thus said the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick your blood, even yours.

20. ആഹാബ് ഏലീയാവോടുഎന്റെ ശത്രുവേ, നീ എന്നെ കണ്ടെത്തിയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്അതേ, ഞാന് കണ്ടെത്തി. യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്വാന് നീ നിന്നെ വിറ്റുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു

20. And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found you: because you have sold yourself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

21. ഞാന് നിന്റെ മേല് അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തും; നിന്നെ അശേഷം നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കി യിസ്രായേലില് അഹാബിന്നുള്ള സ്വതന്ത്രനും അസ്വതന്ത്രനുമായ പുരുഷപ്രജയെ ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് നിഗ്രഹിച്ചുകളയും.

21. Behold, I will bring evil on you, and will take away your posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that urinates against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,

22. നീ എന്നെ കോപിപ്പിക്കയും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് നിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെ നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെപ്പോലെയും അഹീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബയെശയുടെ ഗൃഹത്തെപ്പോലെയും ആക്കും.

22. And will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation with which you have provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.

23. ഈസേബെലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുനായ്ക്കള് ഈസേബെലിനെ യിസ്രെയേലിന്റെ മതിലരികെവെച്ചു തിന്നുകളയും.

23. And of Jezebel also spoke the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.

24. ആഹാബിന്റെ സന്തതിയില് പട്ടണത്തില് വെച്ചു മരിക്കുന്നവനെ നായ്ക്കള് തിന്നും; വയലില്വെച്ചു മരിക്കുന്നവനെ ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികള് തിന്നും.

24. Him that dies of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dies in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.

25. എന്നാല് യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്വാന് തന്നെത്താന് വിറ്റുകളഞ്ഞ ആഹാബിനെപ്പോലെ ആരും ഉണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല; അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഈസേബെല് അവനെ അതിന്നായി ഉത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

25. But there was none like to Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

26. യഹോവ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു നീക്കക്കളഞ്ഞ അമോര്യര് ചെയ്തതുപോലെയൊക്കെയും അവന് വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ ചെന്നു സേവിച്ചു മഹാമ്ളേച്ഛത പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു.

26. And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

27. ആഹാബ് ആ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോള് വസ്ത്രം കീറി, തന്റെ ദേഹം പറ്റെ രട്ടുടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു ഉപവസിച്ചു, രട്ടില് തന്നേ കിടക്കുകയും സാവധാനമായി നടക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

27. And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth on his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

28. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു തിശ്ബ്യനായ ഏലീയാവിന്നു ഉണ്ടായി

28. And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

29. ആഹാബ് എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തിയതു കണ്ടുവോ? അവന് എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തിയതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അവന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്താതെ അവന്റെ മകന്റെ കാലത്തു അവന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

29. See you how Ahab humbles himself before me? because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil on his house.
