1. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം സംഭവിച്ചതുയിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്നു യിസ്രെയേലില് ശമര്യരാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ അരമനയുടെ സമീപത്തു ഒരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

1. Now Naboth the Jezreelite had a field of grape-vines in Jezreel beside the family of Ahab king of Samaria.

2. ആഹാബ് നാബോത്തിനോടുനിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം എനിക്കു ചീരത്തോട്ടം ആക്കുവാന് തരേണം; അതു എന്റെ അരമനെക്കു സമീപമല്ലോ. അതിന്നു പകരം ഞാന് അതിനെക്കാള് വിശേഷമായോരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം നിനക്കു തരാം; അല്ല, നിനക്കു സമ്മതമെങ്കില് ഞാന് അതിന്റെ വില നിനക്കു പണമായിട്ടു തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. Ahab said to Naboth, 'Give me your grape-field. I want it for a vegetable garden because it is near my house. I will give you a better field for it. Or I will pay for it with money, if you like.'

3. നാബോത്ത് ആഹാബിനോടുഞാന് എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അവകാശം നിനക്കു തരുവാന് യഹോവ സംഗതിവരുത്തരുതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. But Naboth said to Ahab, 'May the Lord keep me from giving you what I have received from my fathers.'

4. യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്ത്എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അവകാശം ഞാന് നിനക്കു തരികയില്ല എന്നു തന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുനിമിത്തം ആഹാബ് വ്യസനവും നീരസവും പൂണ്ടു തന്റെ അരമനയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു; ഭക്ഷണം ഒന്നും കഴിക്കാതെ കട്ടിലിന്മേല് മുഖം തിരിച്ചു കിടന്നു.

4. Ahab went into his house sad and angry because of Naboth the Jezreelite saying to him, 'I will not give you what I have received from my fathers.' And Ahab lay down on his bed and turned his face away and would not eat.

5. അപ്പോള് അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഈസേബെല് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുഭക്ഷണം ഒന്നും കഴിക്കാതെ ഇത്ര വ്യസനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

5. His wife Jezebel came to him and said, 'Why is your spirit so troubled that you are not eating food?'

6. അവന് അവളോടുഞാന് യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിനോടുനിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം എനിക്കു വിലെക്കു തരേണം; അല്ല, നിനക്കു സമ്മതമെങ്കില് അതിന്നു പകരം വേറെ മുന്തിരത്തോട്ടം ഞാന് നിനക്കു തരാമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; എന്നാല് അവന് ഞാന് എന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം നിനക്കു തരികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടത്രേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. He said to her, 'Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite. I said to him, 'Give me your grape-field for money. Or I will give you another field for it, if you like.' But he said, 'I will not give you my grape-field.' '

7. അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഈസേബെല് അവനോടുനീ ഇന്നു യിസ്രായേലില് രാജ്യഭാരം വഹിക്കുന്നുവോ? എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്ക; നിന്റെ മനസ്സു തെളിയട്ടെ; യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഞാന് നിനക്കു തരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Jezebel his wife said to him, 'Do you now rule over Israel? Get up, eat food, and let your heart be filled with joy. I will give you the grape-field of Naboth the Jezreelite.'

8. അങ്ങനെ അവള് ആഹാബിന്റെ പേര്വെച്ചു എഴുത്തു എഴുതി അവന്റെ മുദ്രകൊണ്ടു മുദ്രയിട്ടു; എഴുത്തു നാബോത്തിന്റെ പട്ടണത്തില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന മൂപ്പന്മാര്ക്കും പ്രധാനികള്ക്കും അയച്ചു.

8. So she wrote letters in Ahab's name and put the mark of his name on them. She sent letters to the leaders and the king's sons who were living with Naboth in his city.

9. എഴുത്തില് അവള് എഴുതിയിരുന്നതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള് ഒരു ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധമാക്കി നാബോത്തിനെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് പ്രധാനസ്ഥലം കൊടുത്തു ഇരുത്തുവിന് .

9. She wrote in the letters, saying, 'Tell the people that it is a time when they should not eat. And put Naboth in front of the people.

10. നീചന്മാരായ രണ്ടാളുകളെ അവന്നെതിരെ നിര്ത്തിഅവന് ദൈവത്തെയും രാജാവിനെയും ദുഷിച്ചു എന്നു അവന്നു വിരോധമായി സാക്ഷ്യം പറയിപ്പിന് ; പിന്നെ നിങ്ങള് അവനെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞുകൊല്ലേണം.

10. Seat two men of no worth beside him. And have them speak against him, saying, 'You spoke against God and the king.' Then take him out and kill him with stones.'

11. അവന്റെ പട്ടണത്തില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന മൂപ്പന്മാരും പ്രധാനികളുമായ പൌരന്മാര് ഈസേബെല് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതു പോലെയും അവള് കൊടുത്തയച്ച എഴുത്തില് എഴുതിയിരുന്നതുപോലെയും ചെയ്തു.

11. So the leaders and king's sons who lived in Naboth's city did just as Jezebel had written to them in the letters she had sent.

12. അവര് ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധംചെയ്തു, നാബോത്തിനെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് പ്രധാനസ്ഥലത്തിരുത്തി.

12. They told the people that it was a time when they should not eat. And they put Naboth in front of the people.

13. നീചന്മാരായ രണ്ടു ആളുകള് വന്നു അവന്റെ നേരെ ഇരുന്നു; നാബോത്ത് ദൈവത്തേയും രാജാവിനെയും ദുഷിച്ചു എന്നു ആ നീചന്മാര് ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് അവന്നു വിരോധമായി, നാബോത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി തന്നേ, സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞു. അവര് അവനെ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടു പോയി കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

13. Then the two men of no worth came in and sat beside him. These men spoke against Naboth in front of the people, saying, 'Naboth spoke against God and the king.' So they took him outside the city and killed him with stones.

14. നാബോത്ത് കല്ലേറുകൊണ്ടു മരിച്ചു എന്നു അവര് ഈസേബെലിന്നു വര്ത്തമാനം പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

14. Then they sent news to Jezebel, saying, 'Naboth has been killed with stones. He is dead.'

15. നാബോത്ത് കല്ലേറുകൊണ്ടു മരിച്ചു എന്നു ഈസേബെല് കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവള് ആഹാബിനോടുനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിനക്കു വിലെക്കു തരുവാന് മനസ്സില്ലാത്ത യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം കൈവശമാക്കിക്കൊള്ക; നാബോത്ത് ജീവനോടെയില്ല; മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. When Jezebel heard that Naboth had been killed with stones, she said to Ahab, 'Get up and take the grape-field of Naboth the Jezreelite for your own, the field he would not sell to you. For Naboth is not alive, but dead.'

16. നാബോത്ത് മരിച്ചു എന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോള് ആഹാബ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം കൈവശമാക്കുവാന് അവിടേക്കു പോയി.

16. When Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, he got up to go down and take for his own the grape-field of Naboth the Jezreelite.

17. എന്നാല് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു തിശ്ബ്യനായ ഏലീയാവിന്നുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

17. Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

18. നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശമര്യയിലെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാബിനെ എതിരേല്പാന് ചെല്ലുക; ഇതാ, അവന് നാബോത്തിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം കൈവശമാക്കുവാന് അവിടേക്കു പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. Get ready and go down to Samaria to meet Ahab king of Israel. He is in Naboth's grape-field. He has gone down to take it for his own.

19. നീ അവനോടുനീ കുലചെയ്കയും കൈവശമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുവോ എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിക്കന്നു. നായ്ക്കള് നാബോത്തിന്റെ രക്തം നക്കിയ സ്ഥലത്തു വെച്ചു തന്നേ നിന്റെ രക്തവും നക്കിക്കളയും എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നീ അവനോടു പറക.

19. And you will speak to him, saying, 'This is what the Lord says, 'Have you killed and also taken away?' And you will speak to him, saying, 'This is what the Lord says, 'The dogs will drink up your blood in the place where the dogs drank up the blood of Naboth.' ' ' '

20. ആഹാബ് ഏലീയാവോടുഎന്റെ ശത്രുവേ, നീ എന്നെ കണ്ടെത്തിയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്അതേ, ഞാന് കണ്ടെത്തി. യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്വാന് നീ നിന്നെ വിറ്റുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു

20. Ahab said to Elijah, 'Have you found me, O you who hate me?' Elijah answered, 'I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do what is sinful in the eyes of the Lord.

21. ഞാന് നിന്റെ മേല് അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തും; നിന്നെ അശേഷം നിര്മ്മൂലമാക്കി യിസ്രായേലില് അഹാബിന്നുള്ള സ്വതന്ത്രനും അസ്വതന്ത്രനുമായ പുരുഷപ്രജയെ ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് നിഗ്രഹിച്ചുകളയും.

21. See, I will bring trouble upon you. I will destroy you. I will kill every male of Ahab in Israel, both those who are servants and those who are free.

22. നീ എന്നെ കോപിപ്പിക്കയും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് നിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെ നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെപ്പോലെയും അഹീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബയെശയുടെ ഗൃഹത്തെപ്പോലെയും ആക്കും.

22. I will make your house like the family of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the family of Baasha the son of Ahijah. Because you have made Me angry, and have made Israel sin.

23. ഈസേബെലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുനായ്ക്കള് ഈസേബെലിനെ യിസ്രെയേലിന്റെ മതിലരികെവെച്ചു തിന്നുകളയും.

23. And the Lord has spoken about Jezebel, saying, 'The dogs will eat Jezebel in the land of Jezreel.'

24. ആഹാബിന്റെ സന്തതിയില് പട്ടണത്തില് വെച്ചു മരിക്കുന്നവനെ നായ്ക്കള് തിന്നും; വയലില്വെച്ചു മരിക്കുന്നവനെ ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികള് തിന്നും.

24. The dogs will eat anyone belonging to Ahab who dies in the city. The birds of the air will eat anyone belonging to Ahab who dies in the field.'

25. എന്നാല് യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്വാന് തന്നെത്താന് വിറ്റുകളഞ്ഞ ആഹാബിനെപ്പോലെ ആരും ഉണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല; അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഈസേബെല് അവനെ അതിന്നായി ഉത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

25. There was no one who sold himself to do what is sinful in the eyes of the Lord like Ahab did. His wife Jezebel moved him to do it.

26. യഹോവ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു നീക്കക്കളഞ്ഞ അമോര്യര് ചെയ്തതുപോലെയൊക്കെയും അവന് വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ ചെന്നു സേവിച്ചു മഹാമ്ളേച്ഛത പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു.

26. He did what was hated by following false gods. He did all that the Amorites had done, whom the Lord drove out in front of the people of Israel.

27. ആഹാബ് ആ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോള് വസ്ത്രം കീറി, തന്റെ ദേഹം പറ്റെ രട്ടുടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു ഉപവസിച്ചു, രട്ടില് തന്നേ കിടക്കുകയും സാവധാനമായി നടക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

27. When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes and dressed in cloth made from hair, and would not eat. He lay dressed in cloth made from hair, and went about very sad.

28. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു തിശ്ബ്യനായ ഏലീയാവിന്നു ഉണ്ടായി

28. Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,

29. ആഹാബ് എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തിയതു കണ്ടുവോ? അവന് എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ തന്നെത്താന് താഴ്ത്തിയതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അവന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്താതെ അവന്റെ മകന്റെ കാലത്തു അവന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

29. Do you see how Ahab has got rid of his pride before Me? Because he has gotten rid of his pride, I will not bring trouble to him while he is alive. But I will bring trouble upon his house in his son's days.'
