1. ആ കാലത്തു ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു മരിക്കത്തക്ക രോഗം പിടിച്ചു; ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവനോടുനിന്റെ ഗൃഹകാര്യം ക്രമത്തില് ആക്കുക; നീ മരിച്ചുപോകും, ശേഷിക്കയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. About that time Hezekiah became deathly ill, and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to visit him. He gave the king this message: 'This is what the LORD says: Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will not recover from this illness.'

2. അപ്പോള് ഹിസ്കീയാവു മുഖം ചുവരിന്റെ നേരെ തിരിച്ചു യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു

2. When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD,

3. അയ്യോ യഹോവേ, ഞാന് വിശ്വസ്തതയോടും ഏകാഗ്രഹൃദയത്തോടും കൂടെ തിരുമുമ്പില് നടന്നു നിനക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഔര്ക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഹിസ്കീയാവു ഏറ്റവും കരഞ്ഞു.

3. 'Remember, O LORD, how I have always been faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases you.' Then he broke down and wept bitterly.

4. എന്നാല് യെശയ്യാവു നടുമുറ്റം വിട്ടു പോകുംമുമ്പെ അവന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുപ്പാടു ഉണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

4. But before Isaiah had left the middle courtyard, this message came to him from the LORD:

5. നീ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭുവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവോടു പറയേണ്ടതുനിന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് നിന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കേട്ടു നിന്റെ കണ്ണുനീര് കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് നിന്നെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കും; മൂന്നാം ദിവസം നീ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് പോകും.

5. 'Go back to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. Tell him, 'This is what the LORD, the God of your ancestor David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the LORD.

6. ഞാന് നിന്റെ ആയുസ്സിനോടു പതിനഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം കൂട്ടും; ഞാന് നിന്നെയും ഈ നഗരത്തെയും അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില് നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കും. എന്റെ നിമിത്തവും എന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ നിമിത്തവും ഈ നഗരം ഞാന് കാത്തു രക്ഷിക്കും.

6. I will add fifteen years to your life, and I will rescue you and this city from the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my own honor and for the sake of my servant David.''

7. പിന്നെ യെശയ്യാവു ഒരു അത്തിപ്പഴക്കട്ട കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവര് അതു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പരുവിന്മേല് ഇട്ടു അവന്നു സൌഖ്യമായി.

7. Then Isaiah said, 'Make an ointment from figs.' So Hezekiah's servants spread the ointment over the boil, and Hezekiah recovered!

8. ഹിസ്കീയാവു യെശയ്യാവോടുയഹോവ എന്നെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കുകയും ഞാന് മൂന്നാം ദിവസം യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് പോകയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നതിന്നു അടയാളം എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

8. Meanwhile, Hezekiah had said to Isaiah, 'What sign will the LORD give to prove that he will heal me and that I will go to the Temple of the LORD three days from now?'

9. അതിന്നു യെശയ്യാവുയഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത കാര്യം നിവര്ത്തിക്കുമെന്നുള്ളതിന്നു യഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നു ഇതു നിനക്കു അടയാളം ആകുംനിഴല് പത്തു പടി മുമ്പോട പോകേണമോ? പത്തു പടി പിന്നോക്കം തിരിയേണമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

9. Isaiah replied, 'This is the sign from the LORD to prove that he will do as he promised. Would you like the shadow on the sundial to go forward ten steps or backward ten steps? '

10. അതിന്നു ഹിസ്കീയാവുനിഴല് പത്തു പടി ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നതു എളുപ്പം ആകുന്നു; അങ്ങനെയല്ല, നിഴല് പത്തുപടി പിന്നോക്കം തിരിയട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. 'The shadow always moves forward,' Hezekiah replied, 'so that would be easy. Make it go ten steps backward instead.'

11. അപ്പോള് യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് യഹോവയെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അവന് ആഹാസിന്റെ സൂര്യഘടികാരത്തില് ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിരുന്ന നിഴലിനെ പത്തു പടി പിന്നോക്കം തിരിയുമാറാക്കി.

11. So Isaiah the prophet asked the LORD to do this, and he caused the shadow to move ten steps backward on the sundial of Ahaz!

12. ആ കാലത്തു ബലദാന്റെ മകനായ ബെരോദാക്-ബലദാന് എന്ന ബാബേല്രാജാവു ഹിസ്കീയാവു ദീനമായ്ക്കിടന്നിരുന്നു എന്നു കേട്ടിട്ടു ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു എഴുത്തും സമ്മാനവും കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.

12. Soon after this, Merodach-baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent Hezekiah his best wishes and a gift, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been very sick.

13. ഹിസ്കീയാവു അവരുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു തന്റെ ഭണ്ഡാരഗൃഹം മുഴുവനും പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയും സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗവും പരിമളതൈലവും തന്റെ ആയുധശാലയും തന്റെ ഭണ്ഡാരങ്ങളില് ഉള്ളതൊക്കെയും അവരെ കാണിച്ചു. രാജധാനിയിലും തന്റെ ആധിപത്യത്തിലും ഹിസ്കീയാവു അവരെ കാണിക്കാത്ത ഒരു വസ്തുവും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

13. Hezekiah received the Babylonian envoys and showed them everything in his treasure-houses-- the silver, the gold, the spices, and the aromatic oils. He also took them to see his armory and showed them everything in his royal treasuries! There was nothing in his palace or kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them.

14. എന്നാല് യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് ഹിസ്കീയാരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവനോടുഈ പുരുഷന്മാര് എന്തു പറഞ്ഞു? അവര് എവിടെ നിന്നു നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഹിസ്കീയാവുഅവര് ദൂരദേശത്തുനിന്നു, ബാബേലില്നിന്നു വന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked him, 'What did those men want? Where were they from?' Hezekiah replied, 'They came from the distant land of Babylon.'

15. അവര് രാജധാനയില് എന്തെല്ലാം കണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഹിസ്കീയാവുരാജധാനിയിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അവര് കണ്ടു; എന്റെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തില് ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും കാണിക്കാത്ത ഒരു വസ്തുവും ഇല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. 'What did they see in your palace?' Isaiah asked.'They saw everything,' Hezekiah replied. 'I showed them everything I own-- all my royal treasuries.'

16. യെശയ്യാവു ഹിസ്കീയാവോടു പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേള്ക്ക

16. Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, 'Listen to this message from the LORD:

17. രാജധാനിയിലുള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് ഇന്നുവരെ ശേഖരിച്ചുവെച്ചതും ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ ബാബേലിലേക്കു എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു പോകുന്ന കാലം വരുന്നു.

17. The time is coming when everything in your palace-- all the treasures stored up by your ancestors until now-- will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.

18. നീ ജനിപ്പിച്ചവരായി നിന്നില്നിന്നുത്ഭവിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിലും ചിലരെ അവര് കൊണ്ടുപോകും; അവര് ബാബേല്രാജാവിന്റെ അരമനയില് ഷണ്ഡന്മാരായിരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

18. Some of your very own sons will be taken away into exile. They will become eunuchs who will serve in the palace of Babylon's king.'

19. അതിന്നു ഹിസ്കീയാവു യെശയ്യാവോടുനീ പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയുടെ വചനം നല്ലതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; എന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തു സമാധാനവും സത്യവും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുമല്ലോ എന്നും അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

19. Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, 'This message you have given me from the LORD is good.' For the king was thinking, 'At least there will be peace and security during my lifetime.'

20. ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന്റെ സകല പരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും അവന് ഒരു കുളവും കല്പാത്തിയും ഉണ്ടാക്കി വെള്ളം നഗരത്തിന്നകത്തു വരുത്തിയതും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

21. ഹിസ്കീയാവു തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ മകനായ മനശ്ശെ അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

21. Hezekiah died, and his son Manasseh became the next king.
