1. യെഹൂദാജനമൊക്കെയും പതിനാറു വയസ്സുപ്രായമുള്ള ഉസ്സീയാവെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വന്നു അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ അമസ്യാവിന്നു പകരം രാജാവാക്കി.

1. All the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was 16 years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.

2. രാജാവു തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചശേഷം ഏലോത്തിനെ പണിതതും അതിനെ യെഹൂദെക്കു വീണ്ടുകൊണ്ടതും ഇവന് തന്നേ.

2. He rebuilt Elothand restored it to Judah after [Amaziah] the king rested with his fathers.

3. ഉസ്സീയാവു വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു പതിനാറു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു. അവന് അമ്പത്തിരണ്ടു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു യെഖൊല്യാ എന്നു പേര്. അവള് യെരൂശലേംകാരത്തി ആയിരുന്നു.

3. Uzziah was 16 years old when he became king; he reigned 52 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jecoliah; [she was] from Jerusalem.

4. അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പനായ അമസ്യാവു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

4. He did what was right in the LORD's sight as his father Amaziah had done.

5. ദൈവഭയത്തില് അവനെ ഉപദേശിച്ചുവന്ന സെഖര്യ്യാവിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലത്തു അവന് ദൈവത്തെ അന്വേഷിച്ചുഅവന് യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിച്ച കാലത്തോളം ദൈവം അവന്നു അഭിവൃദ്ധി നല്കി.

5. He sought God throughout the lifetime of Zechariah, the teacher of the fear of God. During the time that he sought the LORD, God gave him success.

6. അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു ഗത്തിന്റെ മതിലും യബ്നെയുടെ മതിലും അസ്തോദിന്റെ മതിലും ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അസ്തോദ് നാട്ടിലും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ഇടയിലും പട്ടണങ്ങള് പണിതു.

6. Uzziah went out to wage war against the Philistines, and he tore down the wall of Gath, the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod. Then he built cities in [the vicinity of] Ashdod and among the Philistines.

7. ദൈവം ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്ക്കും ഗൂര്-ബാലില് പാര്ത്ത അരാബ്യര്ക്കും മെയൂന്യര്ക്കും വിരോധമായി അവനെ സഹായിച്ചു.

7. God helped him against the Philistines, the Arabs that live in Gur-baal, and the Meunites.

8. അമ്മോന്യരും ഉസ്സീയാവിന്നു കാഴ്ചകൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവന് അത്യന്തം പ്രബലനായിത്തീര്ന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി മിസ്രയീംവരെ പരന്നു.

8. The Ammonites gave Uzziah tribute money, and his fame spread as far as the entrance of Egypt, for [God] made [him] very powerful.

9. ഉസ്സീയാവു യെരൂശലേമില് കോണ്വാതില്ക്കലും താഴ്വരവാതില്ക്കലും തിരിവിങ്കലും ഗോപുരങ്ങള് പണിതു ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.

9. Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, the Valley Gate, and the corner buttress, and he fortified them.

10. അവന്നു താഴ്വീതിയിലും സമഭൂമിയിലും വളരെ കന്നുകാലികള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് മരുഭൂമിയില് ഗോപുരങ്ങള് പണിതു, അനേകം കിണറും കുഴിപ്പിച്ചു; അവന് കൃഷിപ്രിയനായിരുന്നതിനാല് അവന്നു മലകളിലും കര്മ്മേലിലും കൃഷിക്കാരും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടക്കാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

10. Since he had many cattle both in the lowlands and the plain, he built towers in the desert and dug many wells. And since he was a lover of the soil, he had farmers and vinedressers in the hills and in the fertile lands.

11. ഉസ്സീയാവിന്നു പടയാളികളുടെ ഒരു സൈന്യവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര് രായസക്കാരനായ യെയീയേലും പ്രമാണിയായ മയശേയാവും എടുത്ത എണ്ണപ്രകാരം ഗണംഗണമായി രാജാവിന്റെ സേനാപതികളില് ഒരുവനായ ഹനന്യാവിന്റെ കൈക്കീഴെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെടും.

11. Uzziah had an army equipped for combat that went out to war by division according to the their assignments, as recorded by Jeiel the court secretary and Maaseiah the officer under the authority of Hananiah, one of the king's commanders.

12. യുദ്ധവീരന്മാരായ പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരുടെ ആകത്തുക രണ്ടായിരത്തറുനൂറു.

12. The total number of heads of families was 2,600 brave warriors.

13. അവരുടെ അധികാരത്തിന് കീഴില് ശത്രുക്കളുടെ നേരെ രാജാവിനെ സഹായിപ്പാന് മഹാവീര്യത്തോടെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തുവന്നവരായി മൂന്നുലക്ഷത്തേഴായിരത്തഞ്ഞൂറുപേരുള്ള ഒരു സൈന്യംബലം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

13. Under their authority was an army of 307,500 equipped for combat, a powerful force to help the king against the enemy.

14. ഉസ്സീയാവു അവര്ക്കും, സര്വ്വ സൈന്യത്തിന്നും തന്നേ, പരിച, കുന്തം, തലക്കോരിക, കവചം, വില്ലു, കവിണക്കല്ലു, എന്നിവ ഉണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.

14. Uzziah provided the entire army with shields, spears, helmets, armor, bows and slingstones.

15. അവന് അസ്ത്രങ്ങളും വലിയ കല്ലുകളും പ്രയോഗിപ്പാന് ഗോപുരങ്ങളുടെയും കൊത്തളങ്ങളുടെയും മേല് വെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കൌശലപ്പണിക്കാര് സങ്കല്പിച്ച യന്ത്രങ്ങള് യെരൂശലേമില് തീര്പ്പിച്ചു; അവന് പ്രബലനായിത്തീരുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം അതിശയമായി അവന്നു സഹായം ലഭിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി ബഹുദൂരം പരന്നു.

15. He made skillfully designed devices in Jerusalem to shoot arrows and [catapult] large stones for use on the towers and on the corners. So his fame spread even to distant places, for he was marvelously helped until he became strong.

16. എന്നാല് അവന് ബലവാനായപ്പോള് അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവന്റെ നാശത്തിന്നായിട്ടു നിഗളിച്ചു; അവന് തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു കുറ്റം ചെയ്തു ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്മേല് ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് കടന്നുചെന്നു.

16. But when he became strong, he grew arrogant and it led to his own destruction. He acted unfaithfully against the LORD his God by going into the LORD's sanctuary to burn incense on the incense altar.

17. അസര്യ്യാപുരോഹിതനും അവനോടുകൂടെ ധൈര്യശാലികളായി യഹോവയുടെ എണ്പതു പുരോഹിതന്മാരും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ അകത്തു ചെന്നു ഉസ്സീയാരാജാവിനെ തടുത്തു അവനോടു

17. Azariah the priest, along with 80 brave priests of the Lord, went in after him.

18. ഉസ്സീയാവേ, യഹോവേക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്നതു നിനക്കു വിഹിതമല്ല; ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാന് വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട അഹരോന്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാര്ക്കത്രേ; വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തില്നിന്നു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ക; ലംഘനമാകുന്നു നീ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു; അതു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിനക്കു മാനമായിരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. They took their stand against King Uzziah and said, 'Uzziah, you have no right to offer incense to the LORD-- only the consecrated priests, the descendants of Aaron, have the right to offer incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have acted unfaithfully! You will not receive honor from the LORD God.'

19. ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാന് കയ്യില് ധൂപകലശം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കെ ഉസ്സീയാവു കോപിച്ചു; അവന് പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു കോപിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കയില് തന്നേ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്റെ അരികെ വെച്ചു പുരോഹിതന്മാര് കാണ്കെ അവന്റെ നെറ്റിമേല് കുഷ്ഠം പൊങ്ങി.

19. Uzziah, with a censer in his hand to offer incense, was enraged. But when he became enraged with the priests, in the presence of the priests in the LORD's temple beside the altar of incense, a skin disease broke out on his forehead.

20. മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ അസര്യ്യാവും സകലപുരോഹിതന്മാരും അവനെ നോക്കി, അവന്റെ നെറ്റിയില് കുഷ്ഠം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനെ ക്ഷണം അവിടെനിന്നു പുറത്താക്കി; യഹോവ തന്നെ ബാധിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് തന്നേയും പുറത്തുപോകുവാന് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു.

20. Then Azariah the chief priest and all the priests turned to him and saw that he was diseased on his forehead. They rushed him out of there. He himself also hurried to get out because the LORD had afflicted him.

21. അങ്ങനെ ഉസ്സീയാരാജാവു ജീവപര്യന്തം കുഷ്ടരോഗിയായിരുന്നു; അവന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില്നിന്നു ഭ്രഷ്ടനായിരുന്നതിനാല് ഒരു പ്രത്യേകശാലയില് കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയായി താമസിച്ചു. അവന്റെ മകനായ യോഥാം രാജധാനിക്കു മേല്വിചാരകനായി ദേശത്തിലെ ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്തുവന്നു.

21. So King Uzziah was diseased to the time of his death. He lived in quarantinewith a serious skin disease and was excluded from access to the LORD's temple, while his son Jotham was over the king's household governing the people of the land.

22. ഉസ്സീയാവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങള് ആദ്യാവസാനം ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. Now the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz wrote about the rest of the events of Uzziah's [reign], from beginning to end.

23. ഉസ്സീയാവു അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന് കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവര് രാജാക്കന്മാര്ക്കുംള്ള ശ്മശാനഭൂമിയില് അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യോഥാം അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

23. Uzziah rested with his fathers, and he was buried with his fathers in the burial ground of the kings' cemetery, for they said, 'He has a skin disease.' His son Jotham became king in his place.
