1. യെഹൂദാജനമൊക്കെയും പതിനാറു വയസ്സുപ്രായമുള്ള ഉസ്സീയാവെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വന്നു അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ അമസ്യാവിന്നു പകരം രാജാവാക്കി.

1. The people of Judah then took Uzziah, who was only sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.

2. രാജാവു തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചശേഷം ഏലോത്തിനെ പണിതതും അതിനെ യെഹൂദെക്കു വീണ്ടുകൊണ്ടതും ഇവന് തന്നേ.

2. The first thing he did after his father was dead and buried was to recover Elath for Judah and rebuild it.

3. ഉസ്സീയാവു വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു പതിനാറു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു. അവന് അമ്പത്തിരണ്ടു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു യെഖൊല്യാ എന്നു പേര്. അവള് യെരൂശലേംകാരത്തി ആയിരുന്നു.

3. Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king and reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother was Jecoliah from Jerusalem.

4. He behaved well in the eyes of GOD, following in the footsteps of his father Amaziah.

5. ദൈവഭയത്തില് അവനെ ഉപദേശിച്ചുവന്ന സെഖര്യ്യാവിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലത്തു അവന് ദൈവത്തെ അന്വേഷിച്ചുഅവന് യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിച്ച കാലത്തോളം ദൈവം അവന്നു അഭിവൃദ്ധി നല്കി.

5. He was a loyal seeker of God. He was well trained by his pastor and teacher Zechariah to live in reverent obedience before God, and for as long as Zechariah lived, Uzziah lived a godly life. And God prospered him.

6. അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു ഗത്തിന്റെ മതിലും യബ്നെയുടെ മതിലും അസ്തോദിന്റെ മതിലും ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അസ്തോദ് നാട്ടിലും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ഇടയിലും പട്ടണങ്ങള് പണിതു.

6. He ventured out and fought the Philistines, breaking into the fortress cities of Gath, Jabneh, and Ashdod. He also built settlements around Ashdod and other Philistine areas.

7. ദൈവം ഫെലിസ്ത്യര്ക്കും ഗൂര്-ബാലില് പാര്ത്ത അരാബ്യര്ക്കും മെയൂന്യര്ക്കും വിരോധമായി അവനെ സഹായിച്ചു.

7. God helped him in his wars with the Philistines, the Arabs in Gur Baal, and the Meunites.

8. അമ്മോന്യരും ഉസ്സീയാവിന്നു കാഴ്ചകൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവന് അത്യന്തം പ്രബലനായിത്തീര്ന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി മിസ്രയീംവരെ പരന്നു.

8. The Ammonites also paid tribute. Uzziah became famous, his reputation extending all the way to Egypt. He became quite powerful.

9. ഉസ്സീയാവു യെരൂശലേമില് കോണ്വാതില്ക്കലും താഴ്വരവാതില്ക്കലും തിരിവിങ്കലും ഗോപുരങ്ങള് പണിതു ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.

9. Uzziah constructed defense towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, the Valley Gate, and at the corner of the wall.

10. അവന്നു താഴ്വീതിയിലും സമഭൂമിയിലും വളരെ കന്നുകാലികള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് മരുഭൂമിയില് ഗോപുരങ്ങള് പണിതു, അനേകം കിണറും കുഴിപ്പിച്ചു; അവന് കൃഷിപ്രിയനായിരുന്നതിനാല് അവന്നു മലകളിലും കര്മ്മേലിലും കൃഷിക്കാരും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടക്കാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

10. He also built towers and dug cisterns out in the country. He had herds of cattle down in the foothills and out on the plains, had farmers and vinedressers at work in the hills and fields--he loved growing things.

11. ഉസ്സീയാവിന്നു പടയാളികളുടെ ഒരു സൈന്യവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര് രായസക്കാരനായ യെയീയേലും പ്രമാണിയായ മയശേയാവും എടുത്ത എണ്ണപ്രകാരം ഗണംഗണമായി രാജാവിന്റെ സേനാപതികളില് ഒരുവനായ ഹനന്യാവിന്റെ കൈക്കീഴെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെടും.

11. On the military side, Uzziah had a well-prepared army ready to fight. They were organized by companies under the direction of Jeiel the secretary, Maaseiah the field captain, and Hananiah of the general staff.

12. യുദ്ധവീരന്മാരായ പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരുടെ ആകത്തുക രണ്ടായിരത്തറുനൂറു.

12. The roster of family leaders over the fighting men accounted for 2,600.

13. അവരുടെ അധികാരത്തിന് കീഴില് ശത്രുക്കളുടെ നേരെ രാജാവിനെ സഹായിപ്പാന് മഹാവീര്യത്തോടെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തുവന്നവരായി മൂന്നുലക്ഷത്തേഴായിരത്തഞ്ഞൂറുപേരുള്ള ഒരു സൈന്യംബലം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

13. Under them were reinforcement troops numbering 307,000, with 500 of them on constant alert--a strong royal defense against any attack.

14. ഉസ്സീയാവു അവര്ക്കും, സര്വ്വ സൈന്യത്തിന്നും തന്നേ, പരിച, കുന്തം, തലക്കോരിക, കവചം, വില്ലു, കവിണക്കല്ലു, എന്നിവ ഉണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.

14. Uzziah had them well-armed with shields, spears, helmets, armor, bows, and slingshots.

15. അവന് അസ്ത്രങ്ങളും വലിയ കല്ലുകളും പ്രയോഗിപ്പാന് ഗോപുരങ്ങളുടെയും കൊത്തളങ്ങളുടെയും മേല് വെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കൌശലപ്പണിക്കാര് സങ്കല്പിച്ച യന്ത്രങ്ങള് യെരൂശലേമില് തീര്പ്പിച്ചു; അവന് പ്രബലനായിത്തീരുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം അതിശയമായി അവന്നു സഹായം ലഭിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി ബഹുദൂരം പരന്നു.

15. He also installed the latest in military technology on the towers and corners of Jerusalem for shooting arrows and hurling stones. He became well known for all this--a famous king. Everything seemed to go his way.

16. എന്നാല് അവന് ബലവാനായപ്പോള് അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവന്റെ നാശത്തിന്നായിട്ടു നിഗളിച്ചു; അവന് തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു കുറ്റം ചെയ്തു ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്മേല് ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് കടന്നുചെന്നു.

16. But then the strength and success went to his head. Arrogant and proud, he fell. One day, contemptuous of GOD, he walked into The Temple of GOD like he owned it and took over, burning incense on the Incense Altar.

17. അസര്യ്യാപുരോഹിതനും അവനോടുകൂടെ ധൈര്യശാലികളായി യഹോവയുടെ എണ്പതു പുരോഹിതന്മാരും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ അകത്തു ചെന്നു ഉസ്സീയാരാജാവിനെ തടുത്തു അവനോടു

17. The priest Azariah, backed up by eighty brave priests of GOD, tried to prevent him.

18. ഉസ്സീയാവേ, യഹോവേക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്നതു നിനക്കു വിഹിതമല്ല; ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാന് വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട അഹരോന്യരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാര്ക്കത്രേ; വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തില്നിന്നു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ക; ലംഘനമാകുന്നു നീ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു; അതു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിനക്കു മാനമായിരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. They confronted Uzziah: 'You must not, you cannot do this, Uzziah--only the Aaronite priests, especially consecrated for the work, are permitted to burn incense. Get out of God's Temple; you are unfaithful and a disgrace!'

19. ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാന് കയ്യില് ധൂപകലശം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കെ ഉസ്സീയാവു കോപിച്ചു; അവന് പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു കോപിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കയില് തന്നേ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് ധൂപപീഠത്തിന്റെ അരികെ വെച്ചു പുരോഹിതന്മാര് കാണ്കെ അവന്റെ നെറ്റിമേല് കുഷ്ഠം പൊങ്ങി.

19. But Uzziah, censer in hand, was already in the middle of doing it and angrily rebuffed the priests. He lost his temper; angry words were exchanged--and then, even as they quarreled, a skin disease appeared on his forehead.

20. മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ അസര്യ്യാവും സകലപുരോഹിതന്മാരും അവനെ നോക്കി, അവന്റെ നെറ്റിയില് കുഷ്ഠം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനെ ക്ഷണം അവിടെനിന്നു പുറത്താക്കി; യഹോവ തന്നെ ബാധിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് തന്നേയും പുറത്തുപോകുവാന് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു.

20. As soon as they saw it, the chief priest Azariah and the other priests got him out of there as fast as they could. He hurried out--he knew that GOD then and there had given him the disease.

21. അങ്ങനെ ഉസ്സീയാരാജാവു ജീവപര്യന്തം കുഷ്ടരോഗിയായിരുന്നു; അവന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില്നിന്നു ഭ്രഷ്ടനായിരുന്നതിനാല് ഒരു പ്രത്യേകശാലയില് കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയായി താമസിച്ചു. അവന്റെ മകനായ യോഥാം രാജധാനിക്കു മേല്വിചാരകനായി ദേശത്തിലെ ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്തുവന്നു.

21. Uzziah had his skin disease for the rest of his life and had to live in quarantine; he was not permitted to set foot in The Temple of GOD. His son Jotham, who managed the royal palace, took over the government of the country.

22. ഉസ്സീയാവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങള് ആദ്യാവസാനം ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. The rest of the history of Uzziah, from start to finish, was written by the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.

23. ഉസ്സീയാവു അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന് കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവര് രാജാക്കന്മാര്ക്കുംള്ള ശ്മശാനഭൂമിയില് അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യോഥാം അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

23. When Uzziah died, they buried him with his ancestors in a field next to the royal cemetery. His skin disease disqualified him from burial in the royal cemetery. His son Jotham became the next king.
