1. വിളിച്ചുനോക്കുക; ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നവനുണ്ടോ? നീ വിശുദ്ധന്മാരില് ആരെ ശരണം പ്രാപിക്കും?

1. Call now, is there any who will answer thee? And to which of the holy ones will thou turn?

2. നീരസം ഭോഷനെ കൊല്ലുന്നു; ഈര്ഷ്യ മൂഢനെ ഹിംസിക്കുന്നു.

2. For vexation kills the foolish man, and jealousy slays the silly one.

3. മൂഢന് വേരൂന്നുന്നതു ഞാന് കണ്ടു ക്ഷണത്തില് അവന്റെ പാര്പ്പിടത്തെ ശപിച്ചു.

3. I have seen the foolish taking root, but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

4. അവന്റെ മക്കള് രക്ഷയോടകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് രക്ഷകനില്ലാതെ വാതില്ക്കല്വെച്ചു തകര്ന്നുപോകുന്നു.

4. His sons are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate. Neither is there any to deliver them,

5. അവന്റെ വിളവു വിശപ്പുള്ളവന് തിന്നുകളയും; മുള്ളുകളില്നിന്നും അതിനെ പറിച്ചെടുക്കും; അവരുടെ സമ്പത്തു ദാഹമുള്ളവര് കപ്പിക്കളയും.

5. whose harvest the hungry eat up, and takes it even out of the thorns, and the snare gapes for their substance.

6. അനര്ത്ഥം ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്നതു പൂഴിയില്നിന്നല്ല; കഷ്ടത മുളെക്കുന്നതു നിലത്തുനിന്നുമല്ല;

6. For affliction does not come forth from the dust, nor does trouble spring out of the ground,

7. തീപ്പൊരി ഉയരെ പറക്കുംപോലെ മനുഷ്യന് കഷ്ടതെക്കായി ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. but man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

8. ഞാനോ ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു നോക്കുമായിരുന്നു; എന്റെ കാര്യം ദൈവത്തിങ്കല് ഏല്പിക്കുമായിരുന്നു;

8. But as for me, I would seek to God. And to God I would commit my cause,

9. അവന് , ആരാഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്ത വങ്കാര്യങ്ങളും അസംഖ്യമായ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

9. who does great things and unsearchable, marvelous things without number,

10. അവന് ഭൂതലത്തില് മഴപെയ്യിക്കുന്നു; വയലുകളിലേക്കു വെള്ളം വിടുന്നു.

10. who gives rain upon the earth, and sends waters upon the fields,

11. അവന് താണവരെ ഉയര്ത്തുന്നു; ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നവരെ രക്ഷയിലേക്കു കയറ്റുന്നു.

11. so that he sets up on high those who are low, and those who mourn are exalted to safety.

12. അവന് ഉപായികളുടെ സൂത്രങ്ങളെ അബദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കൈകള് കാര്യം സാധിപ്പിക്കയുമില്ല.

12. He frustrates the devices of the crafty so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

13. അവന് ജ്ഞാനികളെ അവരുടെ കൌശലത്തില് പിടിക്കുന്നു; വക്രബുദ്ധികളുടെ ആലോചന മറിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

13. He takes the wise in their own craftiness, and the counsel of the cunning is carried headlong.

14. പകല്സമയത്തു അവര്ക്കും ഇരുള് നേരിടുന്നു; ഉച്ചസമയത്തു അവര് രാത്രിയിലെന്നപോലെ തപ്പിനടക്കുന്നു.

14. They meet with darkness in the daytime, and grope at noonday as in the night.

15. അവന് ദരിദ്രനെ അവരുടെ വായെന്ന വാളിങ്കല്നിന്നും ബലവാന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

15. But he saves from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty.

16. അങ്ങനെ എളിയവന്നു പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ടു; നീതികെട്ടവനോ വായ്പൊത്തുന്നു.

16. So a poor man has hope, and iniquity stops her mouth.

17. ദൈവം ശാസിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് ; സര്വ്വശക്തന്റെ ശിക്ഷ നീ നിരസിക്കരുതു.

17. Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise thou the chastening of the Almighty.

18. അവന് മുറിവേല്പക്കിയും മുറി കെട്ടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവന് ചതെക്കയും തൃക്കൈ പൊറുപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

18. For he injures, and binds up. He wounds, and his hands make whole.

19. ആറു കഷ്ടത്തില്നിന്നു അവന് നിന്നെ വിടുവിക്കും; ഏഴാമത്തേതിലും തിന്മ നിന്നെ തൊടുകയില്ല.

19. He will deliver thee in six troubles. Yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.

20. ക്ഷാമകാലത്തു അവന് നിന്നെ മരണത്തില്നിന്നും യുദ്ധത്തില് വാളിന്റെ വെട്ടില്നിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.

20. In famine he will redeem thee from death, and in war from the power of the sword.

21. നാവെന്ന ചമ്മട്ടിക്കു നീ ഗുപ്തനാകും; നാശം വരുമ്പോള് നീ ഭയപ്പെടുകയില്ല.

21. Thou shall be hid from the scourge of the tongue. Neither shall thou be afraid of destruction when it comes.

22. നാശവും ക്ഷാമവും കണ്ടു നീ ചിരിക്കും; കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങളെ നീ പേടിക്കയില്ല.

22. At destruction and dearth thou shall laugh, nor shall thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

23. വയലിലെ കല്ലുകളോടു നിനക്കു സഖ്യതയുണ്ടാകും; കാട്ടിലെ മൃഗങ്ങള് നിന്നോടു ഇണങ്ങിയിരിക്കും.

23. For thou shall be in league with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

24. നിന്റെ കൂടാരം നിര്ഭയം എന്നു നീ അറിയും; നിന്റെ പാര്പ്പിടം നീ പരിശോധിക്കും, ഒന്നും കാണാതെയിരിക്കയില്ല.

24. And thou shall know that thy tent is in peace, and thou shall visit thy fold, and shall miss nothing.

25. നിന്റെ സന്താനം അസംഖ്യമെന്നും നിന്റെ പ്രജ നിലത്തെ പുല്ലുപോലെയെന്നും നീ അറിയും.

25. Thou shall know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

26. തക്ക സമയത്തു കറ്റക്കൂമ്പാരം അടുക്കിവെക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നീ പൂര്ണ്ണവാര്ദ്ധക്യത്തില് കല്ലറയില് കടക്കും.

26. Thou shall come to thy grave in a full age, like a shock of grain comes in its season.

27. ഞങ്ങള് അതു ആരാഞ്ഞുനോക്കി, അതു അങ്ങനെതന്നേ ആകുന്നു; നീ അതു കേട്ടു ഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

27. Lo this, we have searched it, so it is. Hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
