1. വിളിച്ചുനോക്കുക; ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നവനുണ്ടോ? നീ വിശുദ്ധന്മാരില് ആരെ ശരണം പ്രാപിക്കും?

1. Call now. Is there anyone answering you? And to which of the saints will you turn?

2. നീരസം ഭോഷനെ കൊല്ലുന്നു; ഈര്ഷ്യ മൂഢനെ ഹിംസിക്കുന്നു.

2. For vexation kills the fool, and passion causes the simple to die.

3. മൂഢന് വേരൂന്നുന്നതു ഞാന് കണ്ടു ക്ഷണത്തില് അവന്റെ പാര്പ്പിടത്തെ ശപിച്ചു.

3. I have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his dwelling place.

4. അവന്റെ മക്കള് രക്ഷയോടകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് രക്ഷകനില്ലാതെ വാതില്ക്കല്വെച്ചു തകര്ന്നുപോകുന്നു.

4. His sons are far from safety; yea, they are crushed in the gate; nor is there any deliverer.

5. അവന്റെ വിളവു വിശപ്പുള്ളവന് തിന്നുകളയും; മുള്ളുകളില്നിന്നും അതിനെ പറിച്ചെടുക്കും; അവരുടെ സമ്പത്തു ദാഹമുള്ളവര് കപ്പിക്കളയും.

5. The hungry eat his harvest, and take him to the thorns, and the snare snuffs up their wealth.

6. അനര്ത്ഥം ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്നതു പൂഴിയില്നിന്നല്ല; കഷ്ടത മുളെക്കുന്നതു നിലത്തുനിന്നുമല്ല;

6. For affliction does not come forth from the dust, nor does trouble spring up out of the ground;

7. തീപ്പൊരി ഉയരെ പറക്കുംപോലെ മനുഷ്യന് കഷ്ടതെക്കായി ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. for man is born to trouble, and the sons of the flame rise, flying upward.

8. ഞാനോ ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു നോക്കുമായിരുന്നു; എന്റെ കാര്യം ദൈവത്തിങ്കല് ഏല്പിക്കുമായിരുന്നു;

8. Truly, I would seek to God, and to God I would put my plea,

9. അവന് , ആരാഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്ത വങ്കാര്യങ്ങളും അസംഖ്യമായ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

9. who is doing great things, and there is no searching them; marvelous things to which is no numbering,

10. അവന് ഭൂതലത്തില് മഴപെയ്യിക്കുന്നു; വയലുകളിലേക്കു വെള്ളം വിടുന്നു.

10. giving rain on the face of the earth and sending water on the face of the field;

11. അവന് താണവരെ ഉയര്ത്തുന്നു; ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നവരെ രക്ഷയിലേക്കു കയറ്റുന്നു.

11. to set the lowly on high; yea, the mourners become very high in safety;

12. അവന് ഉപായികളുടെ സൂത്രങ്ങളെ അബദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കൈകള് കാര്യം സാധിപ്പിക്കയുമില്ല.

12. breaking the plots of the crafty, nor did their hands perform the undertaking.

13. അവന് ജ്ഞാനികളെ അവരുടെ കൌശലത്തില് പിടിക്കുന്നു; വക്രബുദ്ധികളുടെ ആലോചന മറിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

13. He takes the wise in their craftiness, and the counsel of the wily ones is hastened.

14. പകല്സമയത്തു അവര്ക്കും ഇരുള് നേരിടുന്നു; ഉച്ചസമയത്തു അവര് രാത്രിയിലെന്നപോലെ തപ്പിനടക്കുന്നു.

14. They meet with darkness by day, and grope in the noonday as in the night.

15. അവന് ദരിദ്രനെ അവരുടെ വായെന്ന വാളിങ്കല്നിന്നും ബലവാന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

15. But He saves the needy from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.

16. അങ്ങനെ എളിയവന്നു പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ടു; നീതികെട്ടവനോ വായ്പൊത്തുന്നു.

16. And there is hope for the weak; and injustice shuts her mouth.

17. ദൈവം ശാസിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് ; സര്വ്വശക്തന്റെ ശിക്ഷ നീ നിരസിക്കരുതു.

17. Behold, blessed is the man whom God corrects; and despise not the chastisement of the Almighty.

18. അവന് മുറിവേല്പക്കിയും മുറി കെട്ടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവന് ചതെക്കയും തൃക്കൈ പൊറുപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

18. For He wounds, and He binds up. He shatters, and His hands heal.

19. ആറു കഷ്ടത്തില്നിന്നു അവന് നിന്നെ വിടുവിക്കും; ഏഴാമത്തേതിലും തിന്മ നിന്നെ തൊടുകയില്ല.

19. He will deliver you in six troubles; yea, in seven no evil shall touch you.

20. ക്ഷാമകാലത്തു അവന് നിന്നെ മരണത്തില്നിന്നും യുദ്ധത്തില് വാളിന്റെ വെട്ടില്നിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.

20. In famine He will redeem you from death; and in war from the hand of the sword.

21. നാവെന്ന ചമ്മട്ടിക്കു നീ ഗുപ്തനാകും; നാശം വരുമ്പോള് നീ ഭയപ്പെടുകയില്ല.

21. You shall be hidden from the whip of the tongue; and you shall not be afraid of violence when it comes.

22. നാശവും ക്ഷാമവും കണ്ടു നീ ചിരിക്കും; കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങളെ നീ പേടിക്കയില്ല.

22. You shall laugh at violence and at famine; and you shall not be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

23. വയലിലെ കല്ലുകളോടു നിനക്കു സഖ്യതയുണ്ടാകും; കാട്ടിലെ മൃഗങ്ങള് നിന്നോടു ഇണങ്ങിയിരിക്കും.

23. For you shall be in covenant with the stones of the field; and the beasts of the field will be at peace with you.

24. നിന്റെ കൂടാരം നിര്ഭയം എന്നു നീ അറിയും; നിന്റെ പാര്പ്പിടം നീ പരിശോധിക്കും, ഒന്നും കാണാതെയിരിക്കയില്ല.

24. And you shall know that your tent is in peace; and you shall visit your home and shall miss nothing.

25. നിന്റെ സന്താനം അസംഖ്യമെന്നും നിന്റെ പ്രജ നിലത്തെ പുല്ലുപോലെയെന്നും നീ അറിയും.

25. And you shall know that your seed will be numerous, and your offspring as the grass of the earth.

26. തക്ക സമയത്തു കറ്റക്കൂമ്പാരം അടുക്കിവെക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നീ പൂര്ണ്ണവാര്ദ്ധക്യത്തില് കല്ലറയില് കടക്കും.

26. You shall come to the grave in full vigor, like a stack of grain comes up in its season.

27. ഞങ്ങള് അതു ആരാഞ്ഞുനോക്കി, അതു അങ്ങനെതന്നേ ആകുന്നു; നീ അതു കേട്ടു ഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

27. Consider this. We have searched it out; it is so. Hear it, and know it for yourself.
