1. അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Then Job answered and said,

2. അതു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ എന്നു എനിക്കും അറിയാം നിശ്ചയം; ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് മര്ത്യന് നീതിമാനാകുന്നതെങ്ങിനെ?

2. Of a truth I know that it is so: But how can common man be just with God?

3. അവന്നു അവനോടു വ്യവഹരിപ്പാന് ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നിയാല് ആയിരത്തില് ഒന്നിന്നു ഉത്തരം പറവാന് കഴികയില്ല.

3. If he is pleased to contend with him, He can't answer him one of a thousand.

4. അവന് ജ്ഞാനിയും മഹാശക്തനുമാകുന്നു; അവനോടു, ശഠിച്ചിട്ടു ഹാനിവരാത്തവന് ആര്?

4. [He is] wise in heart, and mighty in strength: Who has hardened himself against him, and prospered?--

5. അവന് പര്വ്വതങ്ങളെ അവ അറിയാതെ നീക്കിക്കളയുന്നു; തന്റെ കോപത്തില് അവയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

5. [Him] who removes the mountains, and they do not know it, When he overturns them in his anger;

6. അവന് ഭൂമിയെ സ്വസ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്നു ഇളക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ തൂണുകള് കുലുങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു.

6. Who shakes the earth out of its place, And its pillars tremble;

7. അവന് സൂര്യനോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നു; അതു ഉദിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെ പൊതിഞ്ഞു മുദ്രയിടുന്നു.

7. Who commands the sun, and it does not rise, And seals up the stars;

8. അവന് തനിച്ചു ആകാശത്തെ വിരിക്കുന്നു; സമുദ്രത്തിലെ തിരമാലകളിന്മേല് അവന് നടക്കുന്നു.

8. Who alone stretches out the heavens, And treads on the waves of the sea;

9. അവന് സപ്തര്ഷി, മകയിരം, കാര്ത്തിക, ഇവയെയും തെക്കെ നക്ഷത്രമണ്ഡലത്തെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

9. Who makes the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, And the chambers of the south;

10. അവന് ആരാഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്ത വങ്കാര്യങ്ങളെയും എണ്ണമില്ലാത്ത അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

10. Who does great things past finding out, Yes, marvelous things without number.

11. അവന് എന്റെ അരികെ കൂടി കടക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് അവനെ കാണുന്നില്ല; അവന് കടന്നുപോകുന്നു; ഞാന് അവനെ അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

11. Look, he goes by me, and I don't see him: He passes on also, but I don't perceive him.

12. അവന് പറിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നു; ആര് അവനെ തടുക്കും? നീ എന്തു ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു ആര് ചോദിക്കും?

12. Look, he seizes [the prey], who can hinder him? Who will say to him, What are you doing?

13. ദൈവം തന്റെ കോപത്തെ പിന് വലിക്കുന്നില്ല; രഹബിന്റെ തുണയാളികള് അവന്നു വഴങ്ങുന്നു.

13. God will not withdraw his anger; The helpers of Rahab stoop under him.

14. പിന്നെ ഞാന് അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നതും അവനോടു വാദിപ്പാന് വാക്കു തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നതും എങ്ങനെ?

14. How much less shall I answer him, And choose out my words [to reason] with him?

15. ഞാന് നീതിമാനായിരുന്നാലും അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞുകൂടാ; എന്റെ പ്രതിയോഗിയോടു ഞാന് യാചിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

15. Whom, though I were righteous, yet I would not answer; I would plead for mercy to my judge.

16. ഞാന് വിളിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് ഉത്തരം അരുളിയാലും എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേള്ക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല.

16. If I had called, and he had answered me, Yet I would not believe that he listened to my voice.

17. കൊടുങ്കാറ്റുകൊണ്ടു അവന് എന്നെ തകര്ക്കുംന്നുവല്ലോ; കാരണംകൂടാതെ എന്റെ മുറിവുകളെ പെരുക്കുന്നു.

17. For he breaks me with a tempest, And multiplies my wounds without cause.

18. ശ്വാസംകഴിപ്പാന് എന്നെ സമ്മതിക്കുന്നില്ല; കൈപ്പുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ വയറു നിറെക്കുന്നു.

18. He will not allow me to take my breath, But fills me with bitterness.

19. ബലം വിചാരിച്ചാല്അവന് തന്നേ ബലവാന് ; ന്യായവിധി വിചാരിച്ചാല്ആര് എനിക്കു അവധി നിശ്ചയിക്കും?

19. If [we speak] of strength, look, [he is] mighty! And if of justice, Who, [he says,] will summon me?

20. ഞാന് നീതിമാനായാലും എന്റെ സ്വന്ത വായ് എന്നെ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കും; ഞാന് നിഷ്കളങ്കനായാലും അവന് എനിക്കു വക്രത ആരോപിക്കും.

20. Though I be righteous, my own mouth will condemn me: Though I be perfect, it will prove me perverse.

21. ഞാന് നിഷ്കളങ്കന് ; ഞാന് എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കരുതുന്നില്ല; എന്റെ ജീവനെ ഞാന് നിരസിക്കുന്നു.

21. I am perfect; I do not regard myself; I despise my life.

22. അതെല്ലാം ഒരുപോലെ; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് പറയുന്നതുഅവന് നിഷ്കളങ്കനെയും ദുഷ്ടനെയും നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

22. It is all one; therefore I say, He destroys the perfect and the wicked.

23. ബാധ പെട്ടെന്നു കൊല്ലുന്നുവെങ്കില് നിര്ദ്ദോഷികളുടെ നിരാശ കണ്ടു അവന് ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

23. If the scourge slays suddenly, He will mock at the trial of the innocent.

24. ഭൂമി ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിലെ ന്യായാധിപന്മാരുടെ മുഖം അവന് മൂടിക്കളയുന്നു; അതു അവനല്ലെങ്കില് പിന്നെ ആര്?

24. The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He covers the faces of its judges: If [it is] not [he], then who is it?

25. എന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ഔട്ടാളനെക്കാള് വേഗം പോകുന്നു; അതു നന്മ കാണാതെ ഔടിപ്പോകുന്നു.

25. Now my days are swifter than a post: They flee away, they see no good.

26. അതു ഔടകൊണ്ടുള്ള വള്ളംപോലെയും ഇരയെ റാഞ്ചുന്ന കഴുകനെപ്പോലെയും കടന്നു പോകുന്നു.

26. They are passed away as the swift ships; As the eagle that swoops on the prey.

27. ഞാന് എന്റെ സങ്കടം മറുന്നു മുഖവിഷാദം കളഞ്ഞു. പ്രസന്നതയോടെ ഇരിക്കുമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല്,

27. If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will put off my [sad] countenance, and be of good cheer;

28. ഞാന് എന്റെ വ്യസനം ഒക്കെയും ഔര്ത്തു ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു; നീ എന്നെ നിര്ദ്ദോഷിയായി എണ്ണുകയില്ലെന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

28. I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that you will not hold me innocent.

29. എന്നെ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കുകയേയുള്ളു; പിന്നെ ഞാന് വൃഥാ പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്നതെന്തിന്നു?

29. I will be condemned; Why then do I labor in vain?

30. ഞാന് ഹിമംകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ കഴുകിയാലും ക്ഷാരജലംകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കൈ വെടിപ്പാക്കിയാലും

30. If I wash myself with snow, And clean my my hands with lye;

31. നീ എന്നെ ചേറ്റുകുഴിയില് മുക്കിക്കളയും; എന്റെ വസ്ത്രംപോലും എന്നെ വെറുക്കും.

31. Yet you will plunge me in the pit, And my own clothes will be disgusted with me.

32. ഞാന് അവനോടു പ്രതിവാദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ഞങ്ങളൊരുമിച്ചു ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിന്നു ചെല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നും അവന് എന്നെപ്പോലെ മനുഷ്യനല്ലല്ലോ.

32. For he is not a man as I am, that I should answer him, That we should come together in judgment.

33. ഞങ്ങളെ ഇരുവരെയും പറഞ്ഞു നിര്ത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ നടുവില് ഒരു മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥനുമില്ല.

33. If only there were an umpire between us That might lay his hand on us both,

34. അവന് തന്റെ വടി എങ്കല്നിന്നു നീക്കട്ടെ; അവന്റെ ഘോരത്വം എന്നെ പേടിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കട്ടെ;

34. [Then] he would take his rod away from me, And his terror would not make me afraid.

35. അപ്പോള് ഞാന് അവനെ പേടിക്കാതെ സംസാരിക്കും; ഇപ്പോള് എന്റെ സ്ഥിതി അങ്ങനെയല്ലല്ലോ.

35. Then I would speak and not fear him; For I am not so in myself.
