1. എന്നാല് മോശെ പര്വ്വതത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുവാന് താമസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ജനം കണ്ടപ്പോള് ജനം അഹരോന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൂടി അവനോടുനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഞങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില് നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരു ദൈവത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി തരിക; ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പുരുഷനായ ഈ മോശെക്കു എന്തു ഭവിച്ചു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. And the people see that Moses is delaying to come down from the mount, and the people assemble against Aaron, and say unto him, 'Rise, make for us gods who go before us, for this Moses -- the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt -- we have not known what hath happened to him.'

2. അഹരോന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരുടെയും പുത്രന്മാരുടെയും പുത്രിമാരുടെയും കാതിലെ പൊന് കുണുകൂ പറിച്ചു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And Aaron saith unto them, 'Break off the rings of gold which [are] in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring in unto me;'

3. ജനം ഒക്കെയും തങ്ങളുടെ കാതില് നിന്നു പൊന് കുണുകൂ പറിച്ചു അഹരോന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

3. and all the people themselves break off the rings of gold which [are] in their ears, and bring in unto Aaron,

4. അവന് അതു അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വാങ്ങി, ഒരു കൊത്തുളികൊണ്ടു ഭാഷവരുത്തി ഒരു കാളകൂട്ടിയെ വാര്ത്തുണ്ടാക്കി. അപ്പോള് അവര്യിസ്രായേലേ, ഇതു നിന്നെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവംആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. and he receiveth from their hand, and doth fashion it with a graving tool, and doth make it a molten calf, and they say, 'These thy gods, O Israel, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.'

5. അഹരോന് അതു കണ്ടാറെ അതിന്നു മുമ്പാകെ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതുനാളെ യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു ഉത്സവം എന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And Aaron seeth, and buildeth an altar before it, and Aaron calleth, and saith, 'A festival to Jehovah -- to-morrow;'

6. പിറ്റെന്നാള് അവര് അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങള് കഴിച്ചു സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും അര്പ്പിച്ചു; ജനം ഭക്ഷിപ്പാനും കുടിപ്പാനും ഇരുന്നു കളിപ്പാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു.

6. and they rise early on the morrow, and cause burnt-offerings to ascend, and bring nigh peace-offerings; and the people sit down to eat and to drink, and rise up to play.

7. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ മോശെയോടുനീ ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുക; നീ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനം തങ്ങളെ തന്നേ വഷളാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Go, descend, for thy people whom thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt hath done corruptly,

8. ഞാന് അവരോടു കല്പിച്ച വഴി അവര് വേഗത്തില് വിട്ടുമാറി ഒരു കാളകൂട്ടിയെ വാര്ത്തുണ്ടാക്കി നമസ്കരിച്ചു അതിന്നു യാഗം കഴിച്ചുയിസ്രായേലേ, ഇതു നിന്നെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവം ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

8. they have turned aside hastily from the way that I have commanded them; they have made for themselves a molten calf, and bow themselves to it, and sacrifice to it, and say, These thy gods, O Israel, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.'

9. And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'I have seen this people, and lo, it [is] a stiff-necked people;

10. and now, let Me alone, and My anger doth burn against them, and I consume them, and I make thee become a great nation.'

11. എന്നാല് മോശെ തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവേ, നീ മഹാബലംകൊണ്ടും ഭുജവീര്യംകൊണ്ടും മിസ്രയിംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി നിന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

11. And Moses appeaseth the face of Jehovah his God, and saith, 'Why, O Jehovah, doth Thine anger burn against Thy people, whom Thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a strong hand?

12. മലകളില്വെച്ചു കൊന്നുകളവാനും ഭൂതലത്തില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിപ്പാനും അവരെ ദോഷത്തിന്നായി അവന് കൊണ്ടുപോയി എന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യരെക്കൊണ്ടു പറയിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? നിന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വരുവാനുള്ള ഈ അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിക്കേണമേ.

12. why do the Egyptians speak, saying, For evil He brought them out to slay them among mountains, and to consume them from off the face of the ground? turn back from the heat of Thine anger, and repent of the evil against Thy people.

13. 'Be mindful of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, Thy servants, to whom Thou hast sworn by Thyself, and unto whom Thou speakest: I multiply your seed as stars of the heavens, and all this land, as I have said, I give to your seed, and they have inherited to the age;'

14. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വരുത്തും എന്നു കല്പിച്ച അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചു.

14. and Jehovah repenteth of the evil which He hath spoken of doing to His people.

15. മോശെ തിരിഞ്ഞു പര്വ്വതത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി; സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്റെ പലക രണ്ടും അവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പലക ഇപ്പുറവും അപ്പുറവുമായി ഇരുവശത്തും എഴുതിയതായിരുന്നു.

15. And Moses turneth, and goeth down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony [are] in his hand, tables written on both their sides, on this and on that [are] they written;

16. പലക ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പണിയും പലകയില് പതിഞ്ഞ എഴുത്തു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ എഴുത്തും ആയിരുന്നു.

16. and the tables are the work of God, and the writing is the writing of God, graven on the tables.

17. ജനം ആര്ത്തുവിളിക്കുന്ന ഘോഷം യോശുവ കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന് മോശെയോടുപാളയത്തില് യുദ്ധഘോഷം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. And Joshua heareth the voice of the people in their shouting, and saith unto Moses, 'A noise of battle in the camp!'

18. അതിന്നു അവന് ജയിച്ചു ആര്ക്കുംന്നവരുടെ ഘോഷമല്ല, തോറ്റു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നവരുടെ നിലവിളിയുമല്ല, പ്രതിഗാനം ചെയ്യുന്നവരുടെ ഘോഷമത്രേ ഞാന് കേള്ക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. and he saith, 'It is not the voice of the crying of might, nor is it the voice of the crying of weakness -- a voice of singing I am hearing.'

19. അവന് പാളയത്തിന്നു സമീപിച്ചപ്പോള് കാളകൂട്ടിയെയും നൃത്തങ്ങളെയും കണ്ടു അപ്പോള് മോശെയുടെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു അവന് പലകകളെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു എറിഞ്ഞു പര്വ്വതത്തിന്റെ അടിവാരത്തുവെച്ചു പൊട്ടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

19. And it cometh to pass, when he hath drawn near unto the camp, that he seeth the calf, and the dancing, and the anger of Moses burneth, and he casteth out of his hands the tables, and breaketh them under the mount;

20. അവര് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന കാളകൂട്ടിയെ അവന് എടുത്തു തീയില് ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടു അരെച്ചു പൊടിയാക്കി വെള്ളത്തില് വിതറി യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെ കുടിപ്പിച്ചു.

20. and he taketh the calf which they have made, and burneth [it] with fire, and grindeth until [it is] small, and scattereth on the face of the waters, and causeth the sons of Israel to drink.

21. മോശെ അഹരോനോടുഈ ജനത്തിന്മേല് ഇത്രവലിയ പാപം വരുത്തുവാന് അവര് നിന്നോടു എന്തു ചെയ്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

21. And Moses saith unto Aaron, 'What hath this people done to thee, that thou hast brought in upon it a great sin?'

22. അതിന്നു അഹരോന് പറഞ്ഞതുയജമാനന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിക്കരുതേ; ഈ ജനം ദോഷത്തിലേക്കു ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതെന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

22. and Aaron saith, 'Let not the anger of my lord burn; thou -- thou hast known the people that it [is] in evil;

23. ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു മുമ്പായി നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരു ദൈവത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി തരേണം; ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പുരുഷനായ ഈ മോശെക്കു എന്തു ഭവിച്ചു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു അവര് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. and they say to me, Make for us gods, who go before us, for this Moses -- the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt -- we have not known what hath happened to him;

24. ഞാന് അവരോടുപൊന്നുള്ളവര് അതു പറിച്ചെടുക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവര് അതു എന്റെ പക്കല് തന്നു; ഞാന് അതു തീയില് ഇട്ടു ഈ കാളകൂട്ടി പുറത്തു വന്നു.

24. and I say to them, Whoso hath gold, let them break [it] off, and they give to me, and I cast it into the fire, and this calf cometh out.'

25. അവരുടെ വിരോധികള്ക്കു മുമ്പാകെ അവര് ഹാസ്യമാകത്തക്കവണ്ണം അഹരോന് അവരെ അഴിച്ചുവിട്ടു കളകയാല് ജനം കെട്ടഴിഞ്ഞവരായി എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു മോശെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കല് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു

25. And Moses seeth the people that it [is] unbridled, for Aaron hath made it unbridled for contempt among its withstanders,

26. യഹോവയുടെ പക്ഷത്തില് ഉള്ളവന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാറെ ലേവ്യര് എല്ലാവരും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുകൂടി.

26. and Moses standeth in the gate of the camp, and saith, 'Who [is] for Jehovah? -- unto me!' and all the sons of Levi are gathered unto him;

27. അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ വാള് അരെക്കു കെട്ടി പാളയത്തില്കൂടി വാതില്തോറും കടന്നു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ സഹോദരനെയും താന്താന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനെയും താന്താന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനെയും കൊന്നുകളവിന് എന്നിങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. and he saith to them, 'Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Put each his sword by his thigh, pass over and turn back from gate to gate through the camp, and slay each his brother, and each his friend, and each his relation.'

28. ലേവ്യര് മോശെ പറഞ്ഞതു പോലെ ചെയ്തു അന്നു ഏകദേശം മൂവായിരം പേര് വീണു.

28. And the sons of Levi do according to the word of Moses, and there fall of the people on that day about three thousand men,

29. യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അനുഗ്രഹം നല്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ മകന്നും താന്താന്റെ സഹോദരന്നും വിരോധമായി യഹോവേക്കു നിങ്ങളെ തന്നേ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പിന് എന്നു മോശെ പറഞ്ഞു.

29. and Moses saith, 'Consecrate your hand to-day to Jehovah, for a man [is] against his son, and against his brother, so as to bring on you to-day a blessing.'

30. പിറ്റെന്നാള് മോശെനിങ്ങള് ഒരു മഹാപാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കല് കയറിച്ചെല്ലും; പക്ഷേ നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം വരുത്തുവാന് എനിക്കു ഇടയാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

30. And it cometh to pass, on the morrow, that Moses saith unto the people, 'Ye -- ye have sinned a great sin, and now I go up unto Jehovah, if so be I atone for your sin.'

31. അങ്ങനെ മോശെ യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്അയ്യോ, ഈ ജനം മഹാപാതകം ചെയ്തു പൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു തങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു ദൈവത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. And Moses turneth back unto Jehovah, and saith, 'Oh this people hath sinned a great sin, that they make to themselves a god of gold;

32. എങ്കിലും നീ അവരുടെ പാപം ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ; അല്ലെങ്കില് നീ എഴുതിയ നിന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തില്നിന്നു എന്റെ പേര് മായിച്ചുകളയേണമേ.

32. and now, if Thou takest away their sin -- and if not -- blot me, I pray thee, out of Thy book which Thou hast written.'

33. And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Whoso hath sinned against Me -- I blot him out of My book;

34. ആകയാല് നീ പോയി ഞാന് നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു ജനത്തെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോക; എന്റെ ദൂതന് നിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നടക്കും. എന്നാല് എന്റെ സന്ദര്ശനദിവസത്തില് ഞാന് അവരുടെ പാപം അവരുടെമേല് സന്ദര്ശിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

34. and now, go, lead the people whithersoever I have spoken to thee of; lo, My messenger goeth before thee, and in the day of my charging -- then I have charged upon them their sin.'

35. അഹരോന് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ കാളകൂട്ടിയെ ജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കിച്ചതാകകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ അവരെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു.

35. And Jehovah plagueth the people, because they made the calf which Aaron made.
