1. വികടാധരം ഉള്ള മൂഢനെക്കാള് പരമാര്ത്ഥതയില് നടക്കുന്ന ദരിദ്രന് ഉത്തമന് .

1. Better the poor walking in integrity than one perverse of speech who is a fool.

2. പരിജ്ഞാനമില്ലാത്ത മനസ്സു നന്നല്ല; തത്രപ്പെട്ടു കാല് വെക്കുന്നവനോ പിഴെച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

2. Desire without knowledge is not good, and one who moves too hurriedly misses the way.

3. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഭോഷത്വം അവന്റെ വഴിയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഹൃദയമോ യഹോവയോടു മുഷിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

3. One's own folly leads to ruin, yet the heart rages against the LORD.

4. സമ്പത്തു സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എളിയവനോ കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. Wealth brings many friends, but the poor are left friendless.

5. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷിക്കു ശിക്ഷ വരാതിരിക്കയില്ല; ഭോഷകു നിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയുമില്ല.

5. A false witness will not go unpunished, and a liar will not escape.

6. പ്രഭുവിന്റെ പ്രീതി സമ്പാദിപ്പാന് പലരും നോക്കുന്നു; ദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു ഏവനും സ്നേഹിതന് .

6. Many seek the favor of the generous, and everyone is a friend to a giver of gifts.

7. ദരിദ്രന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെല്ലാം അവനെ പകെക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാര് എത്ര അധികം അകന്നുനിലക്കും? അവന് വാക്കു തിരയുമ്പോഴേക്കു അവരെ കാണ്മാനില്ല.

7. If the poor are hated even by their kin, how much more are they shunned by their friends! When they call after them, they are not there.

10. സുഖജീവനം ഭോഷന്നു യോഗ്യമല്ല; പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെമേല് കര്ത്തൃത്വം നടത്തുന്നതോ ദാസന്നു എങ്ങനെ?

10. It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, much less for a slave to rule over princes.

11. വിവേകബുദ്ധിയാല് മനുഷ്യന്നു ദീര്ഘക്ഷമവരുന്നു; ലംഘനം ക്ഷമിക്കുന്നതു അവന്നു ഭൂഷണം.

11. Those with good sense are slow to anger, and it is their glory to overlook an offense.

12. രാജാവിന്റെ ക്രോധം സിംഹഗര്ജ്ജനത്തിന്നു തുല്യം; അവന്റെ പ്രസാദമോ പുല്ലിന്മേലുള്ള മഞ്ഞുപോലെ.

12. A king's anger is like the growling of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.

13. മൂഢനായ മകന് അപ്പന്നു നിര്ഭാഗ്യം; ഭാര്യയുടെ കലമ്പല് തീരാത്ത ചോര്ച്ചപോലെ.

13. A stupid child is ruin to a father, and a wife's quarreling is a continual dripping of rain.

14. ഭവനവും സമ്പത്തും പിതാക്കന്മാര് വെച്ചേക്കുന്ന അവകാശം; ബുദ്ധിയുള്ള ഭാര്യയോ യഹോവയുടെ ദാനം.

14. House and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

15. മടി ഗാഢനിദ്രയില് വീഴിക്കുന്നു; അലസചിത്തന് പട്ടണികിടക്കും.

15. Laziness brings on deep sleep; an idle person will suffer hunger.

16. കല്പന പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവന് പ്രാണനെ കാക്കുന്നു; നടപ്പു സൂക്ഷിക്കാത്തവനോ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കും.

16. Those who keep the commandment will live; those who are heedless of their ways will die.

17. എളിയവനോടു കൃപ കാട്ടുന്നവന് യഹോവേക്കു വായ്പ കൊടുക്കുന്നു; അവന് ചെയ്ത നന്മെക്കു അവന് പകരം കൊടുക്കും.

17. Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and will be repaid in full.

19. മുന് കോപി പിഴ കൊടുക്കേണ്ടിവരും; നീ അവനെ വിടുവിച്ചാല് അതു പിന്നെയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടിവരും.

20. പിന്നത്തേതില് നീ ജ്ഞാനിയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ആലോചന കേട്ടു പ്രബോധനം കൈക്കൊള്ക.

20. Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom for the future.

21. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പല വിചാരങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടു; യഹോവയുടെ ആലോചനയോ നിവൃത്തിയാകും.

21. The human mind may devise many plans, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will be established.

22. മനുഷ്യന് തന്റെ മനസ്സുപോലെ ദയ കാണിക്കും; ഭോഷകു പറയുന്നവനെക്കാള് ദരിദ്രന് ഉത്തമന് .

22. What is desirable in a person is loyalty, and it is better to be poor than a liar.

23. യഹോവാഭക്തി ജീവഹേതുകമാകുന്നു; അതുള്ളവന് തൃപ്തനായി വസിക്കും; അനര്ത്ഥം അവന്നു നേരിടുകയില്ല.

23. The fear of the LORD is life indeed; filled with it one rests secure and suffers no harm.

24. മടിയന് തന്റെ കൈ തളികയില് പൂത്തുന്നു; വായിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരികയില്ല.

24. The lazy person buries a hand in the dish, and will not even bring it back to the mouth.

25. പരിഹാസിയെ അടിച്ചാല് അല്പബുദ്ധി വിവേകം പഠിക്കും; ബുദ്ധിമാനെ ശാസിച്ചാല് അവന് പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

25. Strike a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; reprove the intelligent, and they will gain knowledge.

26. അപ്പനെ ഹേമിക്കയും അമ്മയെ ഔടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ലജ്ജയും അപമാനവും വരുത്തുന്ന മകനാകുന്നു.

26. Those who do violence to their father and chase away their mother are children who cause shame and bring reproach.

27. മകനേ, പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറേണ്ടതിന്നുള്ള ഉപദേശം കേള്ക്കുന്നതു മതിയാക്കുക.

27. Cease straying, my child, from the words of knowledge, in order that you may hear instruction.

28. നിസ്സാരസാക്ഷി ന്യായത്തെ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായ് അകൃത്യത്തെ വിഴുങ്ങുന്നു.

28. A worthless witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.

29. പരിഹാസികള്ക്കായി ശിക്ഷാവിധിയും മൂഢന്മാരുടെ മുതുകിന്നു തല്ലും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

29. Condemnation is ready for scoffers, and flogging for the backs of fools.
