1. വികടാധരം ഉള്ള മൂഢനെക്കാള് പരമാര്ത്ഥതയില് നടക്കുന്ന ദരിദ്രന് ഉത്തമന് .

1. Better [is] the poor that walketh in his integrity, than [he that is] perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

2. പരിജ്ഞാനമില്ലാത്ത മനസ്സു നന്നല്ല; തത്രപ്പെട്ടു കാല് വെക്കുന്നവനോ പിഴെച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

2. Also, [that] the soul [be] without knowledge, [it is] not good; and he that hasteth with [his] feet sinneth.

3. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഭോഷത്വം അവന്റെ വഴിയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഹൃദയമോ യഹോവയോടു മുഷിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

3. The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

4. സമ്പത്തു സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എളിയവനോ കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

5. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷിക്കു ശിക്ഷ വരാതിരിക്കയില്ല; ഭോഷകു നിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയുമില്ല.

5. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and [he that] speaketh lies shall not escape.

6. പ്രഭുവിന്റെ പ്രീതി സമ്പാദിപ്പാന് പലരും നോക്കുന്നു; ദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു ഏവനും സ്നേഹിതന് .

6. Many will entreat the favour of the prince: and every man [is] a friend to him that giveth gifts.

7. ദരിദ്രന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെല്ലാം അവനെ പകെക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാര് എത്ര അധികം അകന്നുനിലക്കും? അവന് വാക്കു തിരയുമ്പോഴേക്കു അവരെ കാണ്മാനില്ല.

7. All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth [them with] words, [yet] they [are] gone.

8. ബുദ്ധി സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; ബോധം കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നവന് നന്മ പ്രാപിക്കും.

8. He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

9. കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷിക്കു ശിക്ഷ വരാതിരിക്കയില്ല; ഭോഷകു നിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് നശിച്ചുപോകും.

9. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and [he that] speaketh lies shall perish.

10. സുഖജീവനം ഭോഷന്നു യോഗ്യമല്ല; പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെമേല് കര്ത്തൃത്വം നടത്തുന്നതോ ദാസന്നു എങ്ങനെ?

10. Delight is not proper for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

11. വിവേകബുദ്ധിയാല് മനുഷ്യന്നു ദീര്ഘക്ഷമവരുന്നു; ലംഘനം ക്ഷമിക്കുന്നതു അവന്നു ഭൂഷണം.

11. The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and [it is] his glory to pass over a transgression.

12. രാജാവിന്റെ ക്രോധം സിംഹഗര്ജ്ജനത്തിന്നു തുല്യം; അവന്റെ പ്രസാദമോ പുല്ലിന്മേലുള്ള മഞ്ഞുപോലെ.

12. The king's wrath [is] as the roaring of a lion; but his favour [is] as dew upon the grass.

13. മൂഢനായ മകന് അപ്പന്നു നിര്ഭാഗ്യം; ഭാര്യയുടെ കലമ്പല് തീരാത്ത ചോര്ച്ചപോലെ.

13. A foolish son [is] the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.

14. ഭവനവും സമ്പത്തും പിതാക്കന്മാര് വെച്ചേക്കുന്ന അവകാശം; ബുദ്ധിയുള്ള ഭാര്യയോ യഹോവയുടെ ദാനം.

14. House and riches [are] the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife [is] from the LORD.

15. മടി ഗാഢനിദ്രയില് വീഴിക്കുന്നു; അലസചിത്തന് പട്ടണികിടക്കും.

15. Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

16. കല്പന പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവന് പ്രാണനെ കാക്കുന്നു; നടപ്പു സൂക്ഷിക്കാത്തവനോ മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കും.

16. He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; [but] he that despiseth his ways shall die.

17. എളിയവനോടു കൃപ കാട്ടുന്നവന് യഹോവേക്കു വായ്പ കൊടുക്കുന്നു; അവന് ചെയ്ത നന്മെക്കു അവന് പകരം കൊടുക്കും.

17. He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth to the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

18. പ്രത്യാശയുള്ളേടത്തോളം നിന്റെ മകനെ ശിക്ഷിക്ക; എങ്കിലും അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഭാവിക്കരുതു.

18. Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

19. മുന് കോപി പിഴ കൊടുക്കേണ്ടിവരും; നീ അവനെ വിടുവിച്ചാല് അതു പിന്നെയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടിവരും.

19. A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver [him], yet thou must do it again.

20. പിന്നത്തേതില് നീ ജ്ഞാനിയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ആലോചന കേട്ടു പ്രബോധനം കൈക്കൊള്ക.

20. Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

21. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് പല വിചാരങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടു; യഹോവയുടെ ആലോചനയോ നിവൃത്തിയാകും.

21. [There are] many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

22. മനുഷ്യന് തന്റെ മനസ്സുപോലെ ദയ കാണിക്കും; ഭോഷകു പറയുന്നവനെക്കാള് ദരിദ്രന് ഉത്തമന് .

22. The desire of a man [is] his kindness: and a poor man [is] better than a liar.

23. യഹോവാഭക്തി ജീവഹേതുകമാകുന്നു; അതുള്ളവന് തൃപ്തനായി വസിക്കും; അനര്ത്ഥം അവന്നു നേരിടുകയില്ല.

23. The fear of the LORD [tendeth] to life: and [he that hath it] shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

24. മടിയന് തന്റെ കൈ തളികയില് പൂത്തുന്നു; വായിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരികയില്ല.

24. A slothful [man] hideth his hand in [his] bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

25. പരിഹാസിയെ അടിച്ചാല് അല്പബുദ്ധി വിവേകം പഠിക്കും; ബുദ്ധിമാനെ ശാസിച്ചാല് അവന് പരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

25. Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will understand knowledge.

26. അപ്പനെ ഹേമിക്കയും അമ്മയെ ഔടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ലജ്ജയും അപമാനവും വരുത്തുന്ന മകനാകുന്നു.

26. He that wasteth [his] father, [and] chaseth away [his] mother, [is] a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

27. മകനേ, പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറേണ്ടതിന്നുള്ള ഉപദേശം കേള്ക്കുന്നതു മതിയാക്കുക.

27. Cease, my son, to hear the instruction [that causeth] to err from the words of knowledge.

28. നിസ്സാരസാക്ഷി ന്യായത്തെ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വായ് അകൃത്യത്തെ വിഴുങ്ങുന്നു.

28. An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

29. പരിഹാസികള്ക്കായി ശിക്ഷാവിധിയും മൂഢന്മാരുടെ മുതുകിന്നു തല്ലും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

29. Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
