1. മകനേ, വകതിരിവിനെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നും നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങള് പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ പാലിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

1. Son, listen to this piece of wisdom from me. Pay attention to what I know to be true.

2. ജ്ഞാനത്തെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു എന്റെ ബോധത്തിന്നു ചെവി ചായിക്ക.

2. Remember to live wisely, and what you learn will keep your lips from saying the wrong thing.

3. പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ അധരങ്ങളില്നിന്നു തേന് ഇറ്റിറ്റു വീഴുന്നു; അവളുടെ അണ്ണാക്കു എണ്ണയെക്കാള് മൃദുവാകുന്നു.

3. Now, another man's wife might be very charming, and the words from her lips so sweet and inviting.

4. പിന്നത്തേതിലോ അവള് കാഞ്ഞിരംപോലെ കൈപ്പും ഇരുവായ്ത്തലവാള്പോലെ മൂര്ച്ചയും ഉള്ളവള് തന്നേ.

4. But in the end, she will bring only bitterness and pain. It will be like bitter poison and a sharp sword.

5. അവളുടെ കാലുകള് മരണത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുന്നു; അവളുടെ കാലടികള് പാതാളത്തിലേക്കു ഔടുന്നു.

5. She is on a path leading to death, and she will lead you straight to the grave.

6. ജീവന്റെ മാര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് അവള് ചെല്ലാതവണ്ണം അവളുടെ പാതകള് അസ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവള് അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

6. Don't follow her. She has lost her way and does not even know it. Be careful. Stay on the road that leads to life.

7. ആകയാല് മക്കളേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്പ്പിന് ; എന്റെ വായിലെ മൊഴികളെ വിട്ടുമാറരുതു.

7. Now, my sons, listen to me. Don't forget the words I say.

8. നിന്റെ വഴിയെ അവളോടു അകറ്റുക; അവളുടെ വീട്ടിന്റെ വാതിലോടു അടുക്കരുതു.

8. Stay away from the woman who commits adultery. Don't even go near her house.

9. നിന്റെ യൌവനശക്തി അന്യന്മാര്ക്കും നിന്റെ ആണ്ടുകള് ക്രൂരന്നും കൊടുക്കരുതു.

9. If you do, others will get the honor you should have had. Some stranger will get everything you worked years to get.

10. കണ്ടവര് നിന്റെ സമ്പത്തു തിന്നുകളയരുതു. നിന്റെ പ്രയത്നഫലം വല്ലവന്റെയും വീട്ടില് ആയ്പോകരുതു.

10. People you don't know will take all your wealth. Others will get what you worked for.

11. നിന്റെ മാംസവും ദേഹവും ക്ഷയിച്ചിട്ടു നീ ഒടുവില് നെടുവീര്പ്പിട്ടുകൊണ്ടു

11. At the end of your life, you will be sad that you ruined your health and lost everything you had.

12. അയ്യോ! ഞാന് പ്രബോധനം വെറുക്കയും എന്റെ ഹൃദയം ശാസനയെ നിരസിക്കയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

12. Then you will say, 'Why didn't I listen to my parents? Why didn't I pay attention to my teachers? I didn't want to be disciplined. I refused to be corrected.

13. എന്റെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കന്മാരുടെ വാക്കു ഞാന് അനുസരിച്ചില്ല; എന്നെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചവര്ക്കും ഞാന് ചെവികൊടുത്തില്ല.

14. സഭയുടെയും സംഘത്തിന്റെയും മദ്ധ്യേ ഞാന് ഏകദേശം സകലദോഷത്തിലും അകപ്പെട്ടുപോയല്ലോ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പറവാന് സംഗതിവരരുതു.

14. So now I have suffered through just about every kind of trouble anyone can have, and everyone knows it.'

15. നിന്റെ സ്വന്തജലാശയത്തിലെ തണ്ണീരും സ്വന്തകിണറ്റില്നിന്നു ഒഴുകുന്ന വെള്ളവും കുടിക്ക.

15. Now, about sex and marriage: Drink only the water that comes from your own well,

16. നിന്റെ ഉറവുകള് വെളിയിലേക്കും നിന്റെ നീരൊഴുക്കുകള് വീഥിയിലേക്കും ഒഴുകിപ്പോകേണമോ?

16. and don't let your water flow out into the streets.

17. അവ നിനക്കും അന്യന്മാര്ക്കും കൂടെയല്ല നിനക്കു മാത്രമേ ഇരിക്കാവു.

17. Keep it for yourself, and don't share it with strangers.

18. നിന്റെ ഉറവു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ യൌവനത്തിലെ ഭാര്യയില് സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

18. Be happy with your own wife. Enjoy the woman you married while you were young.

19. കൌതുകമുള്ള പേടമാനും മനോഹരമായ ഇളമാന് പേടയും പോലെ അവളുടെ സ്തനങ്ങള് എല്ലാകാലത്തും നിന്നെ രമിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ; അവളുടെ പ്രേമത്താല് നീ എല്ലായ്പോഴും മത്തനായിരിക്ക.

19. She is like a beautiful deer, a lovely fawn. Let her love satisfy you completely. Stay drunk on her love,

20. മകനേ, നീ പരസ്ത്രീയെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിക്കുന്നതും അന്യസ്ത്രീയുടെ മാറിടം തഴുകുന്നതും എന്തു?

20. and don't go stumbling into the arms of another woman.

21. മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴികള് യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നടപ്പു ഒക്കെയും അവന് തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.

21. The Lord clearly sees everything you do. He watches where you go.

22. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ അകൃത്യങ്ങള് അവനെ പിടിക്കും; തന്റെ പാപപാശങ്ങളാല് അവന് പിടിപെടും.

22. The sins of the wicked will trap them. Those sins will be like ropes holding them back.

23. പ്രബോധനം കേള്ക്കായ്കയാല് അവന് മരിക്കും; മഹാഭോഷത്വത്താല് അവന് വഴിതെറ്റിപ്പോകും.

23. Evil people will die because they refuse to be disciplined. They will be trapped by their own desires.
