1. മകനേ, വകതിരിവിനെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നും നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങള് പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ പാലിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

1. My son, pay attention to my wisdom. Listen carefully to my wise sayings.

2. ജ്ഞാനത്തെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു എന്റെ ബോധത്തിന്നു ചെവി ചായിക്ക.

2. Then you will continue to have good sense. Your lips will keep on speaking words of knowledge.

3. പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ അധരങ്ങളില്നിന്നു തേന് ഇറ്റിറ്റു വീഴുന്നു; അവളുടെ അണ്ണാക്കു എണ്ണയെക്കാള് മൃദുവാകുന്നു.

3. A woman who commits adultery has lips that drip honey. What she says is smoother than oil.

4. പിന്നത്തേതിലോ അവള് കാഞ്ഞിരംപോലെ കൈപ്പും ഇരുവായ്ത്തലവാള്പോലെ മൂര്ച്ചയും ഉള്ളവള് തന്നേ.

4. But in the end she is like bitter poison. She cuts like a sword that has two edges.

5. അവളുടെ കാലുകള് മരണത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുന്നു; അവളുടെ കാലടികള് പാതാളത്തിലേക്കു ഔടുന്നു.

5. Her feet go down to death. Her steps lead straight to the grave.

6. ജീവന്റെ മാര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് അവള് ചെല്ലാതവണ്ണം അവളുടെ പാതകള് അസ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവള് അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

6. She doesn't give any thought to her way of life. Her paths are crooked, but she doesn't realize it.

7. ആകയാല് മക്കളേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്പ്പിന് ; എന്റെ വായിലെ മൊഴികളെ വിട്ടുമാറരുതു.

7. My sons, listen to me. Don't turn away from what I say.

8. നിന്റെ വഴിയെ അവളോടു അകറ്റുക; അവളുടെ വീട്ടിന്റെ വാതിലോടു അടുക്കരുതു.

8. Stay on a path far away from that evil woman. Don't even go near the door of her house.

9. നിന്റെ യൌവനശക്തി അന്യന്മാര്ക്കും നിന്റെ ആണ്ടുകള് ക്രൂരന്നും കൊടുക്കരുതു.

9. If you do, you will give your best strength to others. You will give the best years of your life to someone who is mean.

10. കണ്ടവര് നിന്റെ സമ്പത്തു തിന്നുകളയരുതു. നിന്റെ പ്രയത്നഫലം വല്ലവന്റെയും വീട്ടില് ആയ്പോകരുതു.

10. Strangers will use up all of your wealth. Your hard work will make someone else rich.

11. നിന്റെ മാംസവും ദേഹവും ക്ഷയിച്ചിട്ടു നീ ഒടുവില് നെടുവീര്പ്പിട്ടുകൊണ്ടു

11. At the end of your life you will groan. Your skin and your body will be worn out.

12. അയ്യോ! ഞാന് പ്രബോധനം വെറുക്കയും എന്റെ ഹൃദയം ശാസനയെ നിരസിക്കയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

12. You will say, 'How I hated to take advice! How my heart refused to be corrected!

13. എന്റെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കന്മാരുടെ വാക്കു ഞാന് അനുസരിച്ചില്ല; എന്നെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചവര്ക്കും ഞാന് ചെവികൊടുത്തില്ല.

13. I would not obey my teachers. I wouldn't listen to those who taught me.

14. സഭയുടെയും സംഘത്തിന്റെയും മദ്ധ്യേ ഞാന് ഏകദേശം സകലദോഷത്തിലും അകപ്പെട്ടുപോയല്ലോ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പറവാന് സംഗതിവരരുതു.

14. I was almost totally destroyed. It happened right in front of the whole community.'

15. നിന്റെ സ്വന്തജലാശയത്തിലെ തണ്ണീരും സ്വന്തകിണറ്റില്നിന്നു ഒഴുകുന്ന വെള്ളവും കുടിക്ക.

15. Drink water from your own well. Drink running water from your own spring.

16. നിന്റെ ഉറവുകള് വെളിയിലേക്കും നിന്റെ നീരൊഴുക്കുകള് വീഥിയിലേക്കും ഒഴുകിപ്പോകേണമോ?

16. Should your springs pour out into the streets? Should your streams of water pour out in public places?

17. അവ നിനക്കും അന്യന്മാര്ക്കും കൂടെയല്ല നിനക്കു മാത്രമേ ഇരിക്കാവു.

17. No! Let them belong to you alone. Never share them with strangers.

18. നിന്റെ ഉറവു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ യൌവനത്തിലെ ഭാര്യയില് സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

18. May your fountain be blessed. May the wife you married when you were young make you happy.

19. കൌതുകമുള്ള പേടമാനും മനോഹരമായ ഇളമാന് പേടയും പോലെ അവളുടെ സ്തനങ്ങള് എല്ലാകാലത്തും നിന്നെ രമിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ; അവളുടെ പ്രേമത്താല് നീ എല്ലായ്പോഴും മത്തനായിരിക്ക.

19. She is like a loving doe, a graceful deer. May her breasts always satisfy you. May you always be captured by her love.

20. മകനേ, നീ പരസ്ത്രീയെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിക്കുന്നതും അന്യസ്ത്രീയുടെ മാറിടം തഴുകുന്നതും എന്തു?

20. My son, why be captured by a woman who commits adultery? Why hug the wife of another man?

21. മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴികള് യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നടപ്പു ഒക്കെയും അവന് തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.

21. The Lord watches a man's ways. He studies all of his paths.

22. ദുഷ്ടന്റെ അകൃത്യങ്ങള് അവനെ പിടിക്കും; തന്റെ പാപപാശങ്ങളാല് അവന് പിടിപെടും.

22. A sinner is trapped by his own evil acts. He is held tight by the ropes of his sins.

23. പ്രബോധനം കേള്ക്കായ്കയാല് അവന് മരിക്കും; മഹാഭോഷത്വത്താല് അവന് വഴിതെറ്റിപ്പോകും.

23. He will die because he refused to be corrected. His sins will capture him because he was very foolish.
