1. ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാവു ബാബേലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ദര്ശിച്ച പ്രവാചകം

1. This is the heavy burthen of Babylon, which Esay the son of Amos did see.

2. മൊട്ടക്കുന്നിന്മേല് കൊടി ഉയര്ത്തുവിന് ; അവര് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ വാതിലുകള്ക്കകത്തു കടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശബ്ദം ഉയര്ത്തി അവരെ കൈ കാട്ടി വിളിപ്പിന് .

2. Make some tokens to the high hills, call unto them, hold up your hand, that the princes may go in at the door.

3. ഞാന് എന്റെ വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരോടു കല്പിച്ചു, ഗര്വ്വത്തോടെ ഉല്ലസിക്കുന്ന എന്റെ വീരന്മാരെ ഞാന് എന്റെ കോപത്തെ നിവര്ത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. For I will send for my deputies and my giants (sayeth the LORD) and in my wrath I will call for such, as triumph in my glory.

4. ബഹുജനത്തിന്റെ ഘോഷംപോലെ പര്വ്വതങ്ങളില് പുരുഷാരത്തിന്റെ ഒരു ഘോഷം! കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ജാതികളുടെ രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ ആരവം! സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ യുദ്ധസൈന്യത്തെ പരിശോധിക്കുന്നു.

4. With that, me thought I heard in the mountains, a noise, like as it had been of a great people: and a rushing, as though the kingdoms of all nations had come together. (And the LORD of Hosts was the Captain of the whole army)

5. ദേശത്തെ ഒക്കെയും നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് ദൂരദേശത്തുനിന്നും ആകാശത്തിന്റെ അറ്റത്തുനിന്നും യഹോവയും അവന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ ആയുധങ്ങളും വരുന്നു.

5. As they had come not only out of far countries, but also from the ends of the heavens: Even the LORD himself with the ministers of his wrath, to destroy the whole land.

6. യഹോവയുടെ ദിവസം സമീപിച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു മുറയിടുവിന് ; അതു സര്വ്വശക്തങ്കല്നിന്നു സര്വ്വനാശംപോലെ വരുന്നു.

6. Mourn therefore, for the day of the LORD is at hand, and cometh as a destroyer from the Almighty.

7. അതുകൊണ്ടു എല്ലാ കൈകളും തളര്ന്നുപോകും; സകലഹൃദയവും ഉരുകിപ്പോകും.

7. Then shall all hands be letten down, and all men's hearts shall melt away,

8. അവര് ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകും; വേദനയും ദുഃഖവും അവര്ക്കും പിടിപെടും; നോവു കിട്ടിയ സ്ത്രീയെപ്പോലെ അവര് വേദനപ്പെടും; അവര് അന്യോന്യം തുറിച്ചുനോക്കും; അവരുടെ മുഖം ജ്വലിച്ചിരിക്കും.

8. they shall stand in fear, carefulness and sorrow shall come upon them, and they shall have pain, as a woman that travaileth with child. One shall ever be abashed of another, and their faces shall burn like the flame.

9. ദേശത്തെ ശൂന്യമാക്കുവാനും പാപികളെ അതില്നിന്നു മുടിച്ചുകളവാനും യഹോവയുടെ ദിവസം ക്രൂരമായിട്ടു ക്രോധത്തോടും അതികോപത്തോടും കൂടെ വരുന്നു.

9. For lo, the day of the LORD shall come, terrible, full of indignation and wrath: to make the land waste, and to root out the sin thereof.

10. ആകാശത്തിലെ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളും നക്ഷത്രരാശികളും പ്രകാശം തരികയില്ല; സൂര്യന് ഉദയത്തിങ്കല് തന്നേ ഇരുണ്ടു പോകും; ചന്ദ്രന് പ്രകാശം നലകുകയുമില്ല.

10. For the stars and planets of heaven shall not give their light, the sun shall be quenched in the rising, and the moon will not shine with his light.

11. ഞാന് ഭൂതലത്തെ ദോഷംനിമിത്തവും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യംനിമിത്തവും സന്ദര്ശിക്കും; അഹങ്കാരികളുടെ ഗര്വ്വത്തെ ഞാന് ഇല്ലാതാക്കും; ഉഗ്രന്മാരുടെ നിഗളത്തെ താഴ്ത്തും.

11. And I will punish the wickedness of the world, and the sins of the ungodly, sayeth the LORD. The high stomachs of the proud will I take away, and will lay down the boasting(boosting) of tyrants.

12. ഞാന് ഒരു പുരുഷനെ തങ്കത്തെക്കാളും ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ ഔഫീര്തങ്കത്തെക്കാളും ദുര്ല്ലഭമാക്കും.

12. I will make a man dearer than fine gold, and a man to be more worth, than a golden wedge of Ophir.

13. അങ്ങനെ ഞാന് ആകാശത്തെ നടുങ്ങുമാറാക്കും; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ ക്രോധത്തിലും അവന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപത്തിന്റെ നാളിലും ഭൂമി അതിന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തു നിന്നു ഇളകിപ്പോകും;

13. Moreover I will so shake the heaven, that the earth shall remove out of her place. Thus shall it go with Babylon in the wrath of the LORD of Hosts in the day of his fearful indignation.

14. ഔടിച്ചുവിട്ട ഇളമാനിനെപ്പോലെയും ആരും കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്ക്കാത്ത ആടുകളെപ്പോലെയും അവര് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ജാതിയുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു തിരിയും; ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ സ്വദേശത്തിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോകും.

14. And Babylon shall be as an hunted or chased doe, and as a flock without a shepherd. Every man shall turn to his own people, and flee each one into his own land.

15. കണ്ടുകിട്ടുന്നവനെ ഒക്കെയും കുത്തിക്കൊല്ലും; പിടിപെടുന്നവനൊക്കെയും വാളാല് വീഴും.

15. Who so is found alone, shall be shot thorow: And who so gather together, shall be destroyed with the sword.

16. അവര് കാണ്കെ അവരുടെ ശിശുക്കളെ അടിച്ചുതകര്ത്തുകളയും; അവരുടെ വീടുകളെ കൊള്ളയിടും; അവരുടെ ഭാര്യമാരെ അപമാനിക്കും.

16. Their children shall be slain before their eyes, their houses spoiled, and their wives ravished.

17. ഞാന് മേദ്യരെ അവര്ക്കും വിരോധമായി ഉണര്ത്തും; അവര് വെള്ളിയെ കാര്യമാക്കുകയില്ല; പൊന്നില് അവര്ക്കും താല്പര്യവുമില്ല.

17. For lo, I shall bring up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver, nor be desirous of gold.

18. അവരുടെ വില്ലുകള് യുവാക്കളെ തകര്ത്തുകളയും; ഗര്ഭഫലത്തോടു അവകൂ കരുണ തോന്നുകയില്ല; പൈതങ്ങളെയും അവര് ആദരിക്കയില്ല.

18. Then shall young men's bows be knapped asunder. The Medes shall have no pity upon women with child, and their faces shall not spare the children.

19. രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ മഹത്വവും കല്ദയരുടെ പ്രശംസാലങ്കാരവുമായ ബാബേല്, ദൈവം സൊദോമിനെയും ഗൊമോറയെയും മറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആയിത്തീരും.

19. And Babylon (that glory of kingdoms and beauty of the Caldees' honor) shall be destroyed, even as God destroyed Sodom and Gomorra.

20. അതില് ഒരുനാളും കുടിപാര്പ്പുണ്ടാകയില്ല; തലമുറതലമുറയോളം അതില് ആരും വസിക്കയുമില്ല; അറബിക്കാരന് അവിടെ കൂടാരം അടിക്കയില്ല; ഇടയന്മാര് അവിടെ ആടുകളെ കിടത്തുകയും ഇല്ല.

20. It shall never be more inhabited, neither shall there be any more dwelling there, from generation to generation. The Arabians shall make no more tents there, neither shall the shepherds make their folds there any more:

21. മരുമൃഗങ്ങള് അവിടെ കിടക്കും; അവരുടെ വീടുകളില് മൂങ്ങാ നിറയും; ഒട്ടകപ്പക്ഷികള് അവിടെ പാര്ക്കും; ഭൂതങ്ങള് അവിടെ നൃത്തം ചെയ്യും.

21. but wild beasts shall lie there, and the houses shall be full of great Owls. Ostriches shall dwell there, and apes shall dance there:

22. അവരുടെ അരമനകളില് ചെന്നായ്ക്കളും അവരുടെ മനോഹരമന്ദിരങ്ങളില് കുറുനരികളും ഔളിയിടും; അതിന്റെ സമയം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ കാലം ദീര്ഘിച്ചുപോകയുമില്ല.

22. the little owls shall cry in the palaces, one after another, and Dragons shall be in their pleasant parlors. And as for Babylon's time, it is at hand, and her days may not be long absent:
