1. യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായി യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ കാലത്തു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നു യഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്തെന്നാല്

1. The word which came unto Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his force and all the kingdoms of the earth the dominion of his hand, and all the peoples were fighting against Jerusalem and against all her cities, saying:

2. നീ രേഖാബ്യഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചു അവരെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ ഒരു മുറിയില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവര്ക്കും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിപ്പാന് കൊടുക്ക.

2. Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, Go and speak unto Zedekiah king of Judah, and say unto him Thus, saith Yahweh, Behold me! giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it with fire;

3. അങ്ങനെ ഞാന് ഹബസിന്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ മകന് യയസന്യാവെയും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെയും അവന്റെ സകലപുത്രന്മാരെയും രേഖാബ്യഗൃഹം മുഴുവനെയും കൂട്ടി

3. And, thou, shalt not escape out of his hand, For thou shalt be, taken, And into his hand, shalt thou be delivered, And, thine own eyes, into the eyes of the king of Babylon, shall look, And his mouth, with thy mouth, shall speak And Babylon, shalt thou enter.

4. യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ മുറിക്കരികെ ശല്ലൂമിന്റെ മകനായ വാതില് കാവല്ക്കാരന് മയസേയാവിന്റെ മുറിക്കു മീതെ ഇഗ്ദല്യാവിന്റെ മകനും ദൈവപുരുഷനുമായ ഹാനാന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ മുറിയില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

4. Nevertheless, hear the word of Yahweh, O Zedekiah, king of Judah, Thus, saith Yahweh Concerning thee, Thou shalt not die, by the sword;

5. പിന്നെ ഞാന് , രേഖാബ്യഗൃഹക്കാരുടെ മുമ്പില് വീഞ്ഞു നിറെച്ച കുടങ്ങളും പാനപാത്രങ്ങളും വെച്ചു അവരോടുവീഞ്ഞു കുടിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. In peace, shalt thou die, And with the burnings made for thy fathers the former kings who were before thee, so, shall they make a burning unto thee, And, with an, Alas lord! shall they lament thee, Because of the word, I, have spoken, Declareth Yahweh.

6. അതിന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞതുഞങ്ങള് വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കയില്ല; രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായി ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവായ യോനാദാബ് ഞങ്ങളോടുനിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ദേശത്തു ദീര്ഘയുസ്സോടെ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു

6. Then spake Jeremiah the prophet, unto Zedekiah king of Judah all these words in Jerusalem;

7. നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളും ഒരിക്കലും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കരുതു; വീടു പണിയരുതു; വിത്തു വിതെക്കരുതു; മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടാക്കരുതു; ഈവക ഒന്നും നിങ്ങള്ക്കുണ്ടാകയുമരുതു; നിങ്ങള് ജീവപര്യന്തം കൂടാരങ്ങളില് പാര്ക്കേണം എന്നിങ്ങനെ കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. when, the force of the king of Babylon, was fighting against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish and against Azekah, for they, remained among the cities of Judah as fortified cities.

8. അങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങളും ഭാര്യമാരും പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജീവകാലത്തൊരിക്കലും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കയോ

8. The word which came unto Jeremiah, from Yahweh, after that King Zedekiah had solemnised a covenant with all the people who were in Jerusalem, proclaiming unto them liberty:

9. പാര്പ്പാന് വീടു പണികയോ ചെയ്യാതെ രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായി ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവായ യോനാദാബ് ഞങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ച സകലത്തിലും അവന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചുവരുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടവും വയലും വിത്തും ഇല്ല.

9. that every man should let his servant and every man his handmaid, being a Hebrew or a Hebrewess, go free, so that no man should use them as slaves, to wit a Jew his brother;

10. ഞങ്ങള് കൂടാരങ്ങളില് പാര്ത്തു, ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവായ യോനാദാബ് ഞങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കുന്നു.

10. so then they hearkened even all the princes and all the people who had entered into the covenant that every man should let his servant and every man his handmaid, go free, so as not to use them as slaves, any longer, yea they hearkened, and let them go,

11. എന്നാല് ബാബേല്രാജാവായ നെബൂഖദ്നേസര് ദേശത്തെ ആക്രമിച്ചപ്പോള് ഞങ്ങള്വരുവിന് കല്ദയരുടെ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെയും അരാമ്യരുടെ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെയും മുമ്പില്നിന്നു നമുക്കു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോയ്ക്കളയാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങള് യെരൂശലേമില് പാര്ത്തുവരുന്നു.

11. howbeit they turned after that, and brought back the servants and the handmaids whom they had let go, free, and brought them into subjection as servants and as handmaids,

12. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു യിരെമ്യാവിന്നുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

12. So then the word of Yahweh came unto Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying:

13. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനീ ചെന്നു യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരോടും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളോടും പറയേണ്ടതുഎന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ അനുസരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് പ്രബോധനം കൈാക്കൊള്ളുന്നില്ലയോ? എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

13. Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, I myself, solemnised a covenant with your fathers, in the day when I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slaves saying:

14. രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാദാബ് തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരോടു വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കരുതെന്നു കല്പിച്ചതു അവര് നിവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു; അവര് പിതാവിന്റെ കല്പന പ്രമാണിച്ചു ഇന്നുവരെ കുടിക്കാതെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാല് ഞാന് ഇടവിടാതെ നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടും നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ അനുസരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.

14. At the end of seven years, shall ye let go every man his brother, being a Hebrew, who shall sell himself unto thee and serve thee, six years, then shalt thou let him go, free, from thee, Howbeit your fathers hearkened not unto me neither inclined their ear.

15. നിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ദുര്മ്മാര്ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ നന്നാക്കുവിന് ; അന്യദേവന്മാരോടു ചേര്ന്നു അവരെ സേവിക്കരുതു; അപ്പോള് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും തന്ന ദേശത്തു നിങ്ങള്ള് വസിക്കുമെന്നിങ്ങനെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരായ എന്റെ സകലദാസന്മാരെയും ഞാന് ഇടവിടാതെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു പറയിച്ചിട്ടും നിങ്ങള് ചെവി ചായിക്കയോ എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.

15. And, though, ye, just now turned and did that which was right in mine eyes, by proclaiming liberty, every man to his neighbour, and solemnised a covenant before me, in the house on which my Name hath been called,

16. രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാദാബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് അവരുടെ പിതാവു കല്പിച്ച കല്പന പ്രമാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ ജനമോ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.

16. yet have ye turned and profaned my Name, and brought back, every man his servant and every man his hand-maid, whom ye had let go, free, at their own desire, and have brought them into subjection, to become your servants and handmaids.

17. അതുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായി സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും അവര് കേള്ക്കയോ വിളിച്ചിട്ടും അവര് ഉത്തരം പറകയോ ചെയ്യായ്കകൊണ്ടു, ഞാന് യെഹൂദയുടെ മേലും യെരൂശലേമിലെ സകലനിവാസികളുടെ മേലും ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും വിധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥമൊക്കെയും വരുത്തും.

17. Therefore Thus, saith Yahweh, Ye, have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every man to his brother and every man to his neighbour: Behold me! proclaiming, to you, a liberty: Declareth Yahweh unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine, so will I make you a terror to all the kingdoms of the earth;

18. പിന്നെ യിരെമ്യാവു രേഖാബ്യഗൃഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവായ യോനാദാബിന്റെ കല്പന പ്രാണിച്ചു അവന്റെ ആജ്ഞയൊക്കെയും അനുസരിച്ചു അവന് കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു,

18. and will give the men who are transgressing my covenant, in that they have not confirmed the words of the covenant, which they solemnised, before me, when they cut the calf, in twain, and passed between the parts thereof;

19. എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നില്പാന് രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാദാബിന്നു ഒരു പുരുഷന് ഒരിക്കലും ഇല്ലാതെ വരികയില്ല എന്നു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

19. even the princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs and the priests, and all the people of the land, who passed between the parts of the calf,
