1. അനന്തരം എല്ലാപടത്തലവന്മാരും കാരേഹിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാനും ഹോശയ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെസന്യാവും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം സര്വ്വജനവും അടുത്തുവന്നു യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകനോടു

1. Now it came to pass in the seventh month, [that] Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they ate bread together in Mizpah.

2. നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഞങ്ങള് നടക്കേണ്ടുന്ന വഴിയും ഞങ്ങള് ചെയ്യേണ്ടുന്ന കാര്യവും ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അറിയിച്ചുതരേണ്ടതിന്നു ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ സകലജനവുമായ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കേണം എന്നുള്ള ഞങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ അംഗീകരിക്കേണമേ.

2. Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

3. അസംഖ്യജനമായിരുന്ന ഞങ്ങളില് അല്പംപേര് മാത്രമേ ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളു എന്നു നീ സ്വന്ത കണ്ണാല് കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Ishmael also slew all the Jews that were with him, [even] with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, [and] the men of war.

4. യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകന് അവരോടുഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ അംഗീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കും; യഹോവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഉത്തരമരുളുന്നതെല്ലാം ഞന് നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കും; ഒന്നും മറെച്ചുവെക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew [it],

5. അവര് യിരെമ്യാവോടുനീ മുഖാന്തരം നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ഞങ്ങള് ചെയ്യാതെ ഇരുന്നാല്, യഹോവ നമ്മുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ സത്യവും വിശ്വസ്തതയുമുള്ള സാക്ഷിയായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

5. That there came men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, [even] eighty men, having their beards shaven, and their clothes torn, and having cut themselves, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring [them] to the house of the LORD.

6. ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കുന്ന ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചിട്ടു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഗുണം വരേണ്ടതിന്നു നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു ഗുണമായാലും ദോഷമായാലും ഞങ്ങള് കേട്ടനുസരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said to them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.

7. പത്തു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞ ശേഷം യിരെമ്യാവിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി.

7. And it was [so], when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, [and cast them] into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that [were] with him.

8. അവന് കാരേഹിന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാനെയും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാ പടത്തലവന്മാരെയും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം സകലജനത്തെയും വിളിച്ചു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു

8. But ten men were found among them that said to Ishmael, Slay us not: for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he left them alone, and slew them not among their brethren.

9. നിങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ ബോധിപ്പിപ്പാന് നിങ്ങള് എന്നെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ച യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു

9. Now the pit into which Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had slain because of Gedaliah, [was] that which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel: [and] Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with [them that were] slain.

10. നിങ്ങള് ഈ ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമെങ്കില് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ പൊളിച്ചുകളയാതെ പണികയും നിങ്ങളെ പറിച്ചുകളയാതെ നടുകയും ചെയ്യും; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വരുത്തിയ അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് അനുതപിക്കുന്നു.

10. Then Ishmael carried away captive all the remnant of the people that [were] in Mizpah, [even] the king's daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam: and Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the Ammonites.

11. നിങ്ങള് പേടിക്കുന്ന ബാബേല്രാജാവിനെ പേടിക്കേണ്ടാ; നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിപ്പാനും അവന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു നിങ്ങളെ വിടുവിപ്പാനും ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ പേടിക്കേണ്ടാ എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

11. But when Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that [were] with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had done,

12. അവന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു കരുണ തോന്നുവാനും നിങ്ങളെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദേശത്തേക്കു മടക്കി അയപ്പാനും തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കരുണ കാണിക്കും.

12. Then they took all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that [are] in Gibeon.

13. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കാതെ ഞങ്ങള് ഈ ദേശത്തു പാര്ക്കയില്ല;

13. Now it came to pass, [that] when all the people who [were] with Ishmael saw Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that [were] with him, then they were glad.

14. യുദ്ധം കാണ്മാനില്ലാത്തതും കാഹളനാദം കേള്പ്പാനില്ലാത്തതും ആഹാരത്തിന്നു മുട്ടില്ലാത്തതുമായ, മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു ചെന്നു പാര്ക്കും എന്നു പറയുന്നു എങ്കില്--യെഹൂദയില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവരേ,

14. So all the people that Ishmael had carried away captive from Mizpah turned about and came back, and went to Johanan the son of Kareah.

15. ഇപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേള്പ്പിന് ! യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള് മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു പോകുവാന് മുഖം തിരിച്ചു അവിടെ ചെന്നു പാര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഭാവിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്--

15. But Ishmael the son of Nethaniah escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.

16. നിങ്ങള് പേടിക്കുന്ന വാള് അവിടെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുവെച്ചു നിങ്ങളെ പിടിക്കും; നിങ്ങള് ഭയപ്പെടുന്ന ക്ഷാമം അവിടെ മിസ്രയീമില്വെച്ചു നിങ്ങളെ ബാധിക്കും; അവിടെവെച്ചു നിങ്ങള് മരിക്കും.

16. Then Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that [were] with him, took all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah, after [that] he had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, [even] mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon:

17. മിസ്രയീമില് ചെന്നു പാര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവിടെ പോകുവാന് മുഖം തിരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഏവരും വാള്കൊണ്ടും ക്ഷാമംകൊണ്ടും മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടും മരിക്കും; ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും വരുത്തുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥത്തില് അകപ്പെടാതെ അവരില് ആരും ശേഷിക്കയോ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയോ ചെയ്കയില്ല.

17. And they departed, and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go to enter into Egypt,

18. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഎന്റെ കോപവും എന്റെ ക്രോധവും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളുടെ മേല് പകര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നേ, നിങ്ങള് മിസ്രയീമില് ചെല്ലുമ്പോള് എന്റെ ക്രോധം നിങ്ങളുടെ മേലും പകരും; നിങ്ങള് പ്രാക്കിന്നും സ്തംഭനത്തിന്നും ശാപത്തിന്നും നിന്ദെക്കും വിഷയമായ്തീരും; ഈ സ്ഥലം നിങ്ങള് ഇനി കാണുകയുമില്ല.

18. Because of the Chaldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the son of Nethaniah had slain Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made governor in the land.
