1. ഏഴാം ആണ്ടു അഞ്ചാം മാസം പത്താം തിയ്യതി യിസ്രായേല്മൂപ്പന്മാരില് ചിലര് യഹോവയോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാന് വന്നു എന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഇരുന്നു.

1. One day, some of the elders of Israel came to me to ask the Lord for advice. This was on the tenth day of the fifth month, of the seventh year of exile. The elders sat down in front of me.

2. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

2. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said,

3. മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നീ യിസ്രായേല്മൂപ്പന്മാരോടു സംസാരിച്ചുയഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു ചോദിച്ചാല്, എന്നാണ, ഞാന് ഉത്തരമരുളുകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്നു അവരോടു പറയേണം.

3. Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel. Tell them 'This is what the Lord God says: Have you come to ask me advice? If you have, I will not give it to you.'

4. Should you judge them? Will you judge them, son of man? You must tell them about the terrible things their fathers have done.

5. You must tell them, 'This is what the Lord God says: On the day I chose Israel, I raised my hand to Jacob's family and made a promise to them in Egypt. When I let them know who I was, I raised my hand and said: 'I am the Lord your God.'

6. ഞാന് അവരെ മിസ്രയീം ദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെ'ടുവിക്കുമെന്നും ഞാന് അവര്ക്കുംവേണ്ടി നോക്കിവെച്ചിരുന്നതും പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്നതും സര്വ്വദേശങ്ങളുടെയും മഹത്വമായിരിക്കുന്നതുമായ ദേശത്തിലേക്കു അവരെ കൊണ്ടുവരുമെന്നും ആ നാളില് കൈ ഉയര്ത്തി സത്യംചെയ്തു.

6. On that day, I promised to take you out of Egypt and lead you to the land I was giving to you. That was a good land filled with many good things. It was the most beautiful of all countries!'

7. അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തനും താന്താന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മുമ്പില് ഇരിക്കുന്ന മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ എറിഞ്ഞുകളവിന് ; മിസ്രയീമ്യ ബിംബങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ മലിനമാക്കരുതു, ഞാനത്രേ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

7. 'I told the family of Israel to throw away their horrible idols. I told them not to become filthy with those filthy statues from Egypt. I said, 'I am the Lord your God.'

8. But they turned against me and refused to listen to me. They did not throw away their horrible idols. They did not leave their filthy statues in Egypt. So I decided to destroy them in Egypt�to let them feel the full force of my anger.

9. But I did not destroy them. I had already told the Egyptians that I would bring my people out of Egypt. I did not want to ruin my good name, so I did not destroy Israel in front of those other people.

10. അങ്ങനെ ഞാന് അവരെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു മരുഭൂമിയില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

10. I brought the family of Israel out of Egypt. I led them into the desert.

11. ഞാന് എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു, എന്റെ വിധികളെ അവരെ അറിയിച്ചു; അവയെ ചെയ്യുന്ന മനുഷ്യന് അവയാല് ജീവിക്കും.

11. Then I gave them my laws and told them all my rules. Whoever obeys them will live.

12. ഞാന് അവരെ വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവ എന്നു അവര് അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു എനിക്കും അവര്ക്കും ഇടയില് അടയാളമായിരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം എന്റെ ശബ്ബത്തുകളെയും ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു.

12. I also told them about all the special days of rest, which were a special sign between us. They showed that I am the Lord and that I was making them special to me.

13. യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമോ മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു എന്നോടു മത്സരിച്ചു; അവര് എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടക്കാതെ എന്റെ വിധികളെ ധിക്കരിച്ചു; അവയെ ചെയ്യുന്ന മനുഷ്യന് അവയാല് ജീവിക്കും; എന്റെ ശബ്ബത്തുകളെയും അവര് ഏറ്റവും അശുദ്ധമാക്കി; ആകയാല് ഞാന് മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു എന്റെ ക്രോധം അവരുടെമേല് പകര്ന്നു അവരെ സംഹരിക്കുമെന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

13. 'But the family of Israel turned against me in the desert. They did not follow my laws. They refused to obey my rules�even though people who obey my laws live because of them. They treated my special days of rest as if they were not important. They worked on those days many times. I decided to destroy them in the desert�to let them feel the full force of my anger.

14. എങ്കിലും ഞാന് അവരെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചതു കണ്ട ജാതികളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ എന്റെ നാമം അശുദ്ധമാകാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അതിന് നിമിത്തം പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു.

14. But I did not destroy them. The other nations saw me bring Israel out of Egypt. I did not want to ruin my good name, so I did not destroy Israel in front of those other people.

15. I made another promise to those people in the desert. I promised that I would not bring them into the land I was giving them. That was a good land filled with many good things. It was the most beautiful of all countries!

16. ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തിരുന്നതും പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്നതും സര്വ്വദേശങ്ങളുടെയും മഹത്വമായിരിക്കുന്നതും ആയ ദേശത്തേക്കു അവരെ കൊണ്ടു വരികയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു കൈ ഉയര്ത്തി സത്യം ചെയ്തു.

16. 'The people of Israel refused to obey my rules or to follow my laws. They treated my days of rest as if they were not important. They did all these things because their hearts belonged to their filthy idols.

17. എങ്കിലും അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കയും മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു അവരെ മുടിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം എനിക്കു അവരോടു അയ്യോഭാവം തോന്നി.

17. But I felt sorry for them, so I did not destroy them. I did not completely destroy them in the desert.

18. ഞാന് മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു അവരുടെ മക്കളോടുനിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ചട്ടങ്ങളില് നടക്കരുതു; അവരുടെ വിധികളെ പ്രമാണിക്കരുതു; അവരുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുകയും അരുതു;

18. I spoke to their children and told them, 'Don't be like your parents. Don't make yourself filthy with their filthy idols. Don't follow their laws or obey their commands.

19. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയാകുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അനുസരിച്ചു നടന്നു എന്റെ വിധികളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു അനുഷ്ഠിപ്പിന് ;

19. I am the Lord. I am your God. Obey my laws and keep my commands. Do the things I tell you.

20. എന്റെ ശബ്ബത്തുകളെ വിശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പിന് ; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു അവ എനിക്കും നിങ്ങള്ക്കും ഇടയില് അടയാളമായിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

20. Show that my days of rest are important to you. Remember, they are a special sign between us. I am the Lord, and these days show you that I am your God.'

21. 'But the children turned against me and did not obey my laws. They did not keep my commands�even though people who obey my laws live because of them. They treated my special days of rest as though they were not important. So I decided to destroy them completely in the desert, to let them feel the full force of my anger.

22. എങ്കിലും ഞാന് എന്റെ കൈ പിന് വലിക്കയും ഞാന് അവരെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചതു കണ്ട ജാതികളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ എന്റെ നാമം അശുദ്ധമാകാതെ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതുനിമിത്തം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

22. But I stopped myself. The other nations saw me bring Israel out of Egypt. I did not want to ruin my good name, so I did not destroy Israel in front of those other people.

23. അവര് എന്റെ വിധികളെ അനുഷ്ഠിക്കാതെ എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ ധിക്കരിച്ചു എന്റെ ശബ്ബത്തുകളെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുകയും അവരുടെ കണ്ണു അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുകയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു,

23. So I made another promise to those people in the desert. I promised to scatter them among the nations, to send them to many different countries.

24. 'The people of Israel did not obey my commands. They refused to obey my laws. They treated my special days of rest as though they were not important, and they worshiped the filthy idols of their fathers.

25. ഞാന് അവര്ക്കും കൊള്ളരുതാത്ത ചട്ടങ്ങളെയും ജീവരക്ഷ പ്രാപിപ്പാന് ഉതകാത്ത വിധികളെയും കൊടുത്തു.

25. So I gave them laws that were not good. I gave them commands that would not bring life.

26. ഞാന് യഹോവ എന്നു അവര് അറിവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് അവരെ ശൂന്യമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര് എല്ലാകടിഞ്ഞൂലുകളെയും അഗ്നിപ്രവേശം ചെയ്യിച്ചതില് ഞാന് അവരെ അവരുടെ സ്വന്തവഴിപാടുകളാല് അശുദ്ധമാക്കി.

26. I let them make themselves filthy with their gifts. They even began to sacrifice their own firstborn children. In this way I would destroy them. Then they would know that I am the Lord.'

27. അതുകൊണ്ടു മരുഷ്യപുത്രാ നീ യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തോടു പറയേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് എന്നോടു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതില് എന്നെ ദുഷിക്കയുംകൂടെ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. So now, son of man, speak to the family of Israel. Tell them, 'This is what the Lord God says: The people of Israel said bad things about me and made evil plans against me.

28. അവര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു ഞാന് കൈ ഉയര്ത്തി സത്യംചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു ഞാന് അവരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നശേഷം അവര്ഉയര്ന്ന എല്ലാകുന്നും തഴെച്ച സകലവൃക്ഷവും നോക്കി, അവിടെ ഹനനബലികളെ അര്പ്പിക്കയും കോപ ഹേതുകമായ വഴിപാടു കഴിക്കയും സൌരഭ്യവാസന നിവേദിക്കയും പാനിയബലികളെ പകരുകയും ചെയ്തു.

28. But I still brought them to the land I promised to give them. They saw all the hills and green trees, so they went to all those places to worship. They took their sacrifices and anger offerings to all those places. They offered their sacrifices that made a sweet smell, and they offered their drink offerings at those places.

29. നിങ്ങള് പോകുന്ന പൂജാഗിരി എന്തു എന്നു ഞാന് അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു; ഇന്നുവരെയും അതിന്നു പൂജാഗിരി എന്നു പേര് പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.

29. I asked the people of Israel why they were going to the high places. But that high place is still there today. '

30. Since Israel did those things, speak to them and tell them, 'This is what the Lord God says: You people have made yourselves filthy by doing the things your ancestors did. You have acted like a prostitute. You have left me to be with the horrible gods your ancestors worshiped.

31. നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴിപാടുകളെ കഴിക്കുന്നതിനാലും നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെ അഗ്നിപ്രവശേം ചെയ്യിക്കുന്നതിനാലും നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നുവരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ സകലവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും കൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, നിങ്ങള് ചോദിച്ചാല് ഞാന് ഉത്തരമരുളുമോ? നിങ്ങള് ചോദിച്ചാല്, എന്നാണ ഞാന് ഉത്തരമരുളുകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

31. You are giving the same kind of gifts. You are putting your children in the fire as a gift to your false gods. You are still making yourself filthy with these filthy idols today! Do you really think that I should let you come to me and ask me for advice? I am the Lord God Lord. By my life, I swear that I will not answer your questions or give you advice!

32. നാം മരത്തെയും കല്ലിനെയും സേവിച്ചു, ജാതികളെപ്പോലെയും ദേശങ്ങളിലെ വംശങ്ങളെപ്പോലെയും ആയിത്തീരുക എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നതായി നിങ്ങളുടെ മനസ്സിലെ വിചാരം ഒരിക്കലും നടക്കയില്ല.

32. You keep saying you want to be like the other nations. You live like the people in other nations. You serve pieces of wood and stone idols!''

33. എന്നാണ, ബലമുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടും നീട്ടിയ ഭുജംകൊണ്ടും ചൊരിയുന്ന ക്രോധംകൊണ്ടും ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ ഭരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

33. The Lord God says, 'By my life, I swear that I will rule over you as king. But I will raise my powerful arm and punish you. I will show my anger against you!

34. ബലമുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടും നീട്ടിയ ഭുജംകൊണ്ടും ചൊരിയുന്ന ക്രോധംകൊണ്ടും ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ ജാതികളില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കയും നിങ്ങള് ചിതറിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്ന രാജ്യങ്ങളില്നിന്നു ശേഖരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

34. I will bring you out of these other nations. I scattered you among these nations, but I will gather you together and bring you back from these countries. But I will raise my powerful arm and punish you. I will show my anger against you!

35. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ ജാതികളുടെ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു മുഖാമുഖമായി നിങ്ങളോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കും.

35. I will lead you into a desert as I did before, but this will be a place where other nations live. We will stand face to face, and I will judge you.

36. മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തിന്റെ മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ഞാന് വ്യവഹരിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങളോടും വ്യവഹരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

36. I will judge you as I judged your ancestors in the desert near Egypt.' This is what the Lord God said.

37. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ കോലിന് കീഴെ കടത്തി നിയമത്തിന്റെ ബന്ധനത്തില് ഉള്പ്പെടുത്തും.

37. I will judge you guilty and punish you according to the agreement.

38. എന്നോടു മത്സരിച്ചു അതിക്രമിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളയും; അവര് ചെന്നു പാര്ക്കുംന്ന രാജ്യത്തുനിന്നു ഞാന് അവരെ പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കും; എങ്കിലും യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തു അവര് കടക്കയില്ല; ഞാന് യഹോവ എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയും.

38. I will remove all those who turned against me and sinned against me. I will remove them from your homeland. They will never again come to the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.'

39. Now, family of Israel, this is what the Lord God says: 'Whoever wants to worship their filthy idols, let them go and worship them. But later, don't think you will get any advice from me. You will not ruin my name anymore! Not when you continue to give your gifts to your filthy idols.'

40. എന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപര്വ്വതത്തില് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഉന്നത പര്വ്വതത്തില് തന്നേ, യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമൊക്കെയും ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ അവിടെ ദേശത്തുവെച്ചു എന്നെ സേവിക്കുമെന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു; അവിടെ ഞാന് അവരെ സ്വീകരിക്കും; അവിടെ ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴിപാടുകളെയും ആദ്യദാനങ്ങളെയും സകലനിവേദ്യങ്ങളെയും ആഗ്രഹിക്കും.

40. The Lord God says, 'People must come to my holy mountain�the high mountain in Israel�to serve me! The whole family of Israel will be on their land�they will be there in their country. There you can come to ask me for advice, and you must come there to bring me your offerings. You must bring the first part of your crops to me there. You must bring all your holy gifts to me in that place.

41. Then I will be pleased with the sweet smell of your sacrifices. That will happen when I bring you back. I scattered you among many nations, but I will gather you together and make you my special people again, and all the nations will see it.

42. നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു ഞാന് കൈ ഉയര്ത്തി സത്യംചെയ്ത ദേശമായ യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തേക്കു നിങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുവരുമ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവ എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയും.

42. Then you will know that I am the Lord. You will know this when I bring you back to the land of Israel, the land I promised to give to your ancestors.

43. അവിടെവെച്ചു നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികളെയും നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ മലിനമാക്കിയ സകലക്രിയകളെയും ഔര്ക്കും; നിങ്ങള് ചെയ്ത സകല ദോഷവുംനിമിത്തം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നിങ്ങളോടു തന്നേ വെറുപ്പുതോന്നും.

43. In that country you will remember all the evil things you did that made you filthy, and you will be ashamed.

44. യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ദോഷമായുള്ള വഴികള്ക്കു തക്കവണ്ണമല്ല, നിങ്ങളുടെ വഷളായുള്ള പ്രവൃത്തികള്ക്കു തക്കവണ്ണവുമല്ല, എന്റെ നാമംനിമിത്തം തന്നേ ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുമ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവ എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

44. Family of Israel, you did many evil things, and you should be destroyed because of them. But to protect my good name, I will not give you the punishment you really deserve. Then you will know that I am the Lord.' This is what the Lord God said.

45. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

45. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said,

46. മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നിന്റെ മുഖം തെക്കോട്ടു തിരിച്ചു ദക്ഷിണദേശത്തോടു പ്രസംഗിച്ചു തെക്കെദിക്കിലെ കാട്ടിനോടു പ്രവചിച്ചു തെക്കുള്ള കാട്ടിനോടു പറയേണ്ടതു

46. Son of man, look toward the Negev, the southern part of Judah. Speak against the Negev Forest.

47. യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേള്ക്ക; യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് നിനക്കു തീ വേക്കും; അതു നിന്നില് പച്ചയായുള്ള സകലവൃക്ഷത്തെയും ഉണങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന സകലവൃക്ഷത്തെയും ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും; ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന ജ്വാലകെട്ടുപോകയില്ല; തെക്കുമുതല് വടക്കുവരെയുള്ള മുഖങ്ങളൊക്കെയും അതിനാല് കരിഞ്ഞുപോകും.

47. Say to the Negev Forest, 'Listen to the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord God said: Look, I am ready to start a fire in your forest. The fire will destroy every green tree and every dry tree. The flame that burns will not be put out. All the land from south to north will be burned by the fire.

48. യഹോവയായ ഞാന് അതു കത്തിച്ചു എന്നു സകലജഡവും കാണും; അതു കെട്ടുപോകയുമില്ല.

48. Then all people will see that I, the Lord, have started the fire. The fire will not be put out!''

49. അപ്പോള് ഞാന് അയ്യോ, യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവേ, ഇവന് മറപൊരുള് അല്ലോ പറയുന്നതു എന്നു അവര് എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

49. Then I said, 'Oh, Lord God! If I say this, the people will say that I am only telling them stories.'
