1. ആ കാലത്തു ഇടപ്രഭുവായ ഹെരോദാവു യേശുവിന്റെ ശ്രുതി കേട്ടിട്ടു

1. At that time King Herod heard much about Jesus.

2. അവന് യോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന് ; അവന് മരിച്ചവരുടെ ഇടയില് നിന്നു ഉയിര്ത്തു; അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു ഈ ശക്തികള് അവനില് വ്യാപരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. He said to his helpers, 'This must be John the Baptist. He has risen from the dead. That is why these powerful works are done by him.'

3. ഹെരോദാവു തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഫീലിപ്പൊസിന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഹെരോദ്യ നിമിത്തം, അവള് നിനക്കു ഭാര്യയായിരിക്കുന്നതു വിഹിതമല്ല എന്നു

3. For Herod had taken John and put him in prison. It was because of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip.

4. യോഹന്നാന് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു കൊണ്ടു തന്നേ, അവനെ പിടിച്ചു കെട്ടി തടവില് ആക്കിയിരുന്നു.

4. For John had said to him, 'It is against the Law for you to have her.'

5. അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് മനസ്സുണ്ടായിട്ടു പുരുഷാരം അവനെ പ്രവാചകന് എന്നു എണ്ണുകയാല് അവരെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

5. He would have killed John but he was afraid of the people. The people thought John was one who spoke for God.

6. എന്നാല് ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ ജനനദിവസം ആയപ്പോള് ഹെരോദ്യയുടെ മകള് സഭാമദ്ധ്യേ നൃത്തം ചെയ്തു ഹെരോദാവിനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചു.

6. On Herod's birthday the daughter of Herodias danced in front of them. Herod was made happy by her.

7. അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്തു ചോദിച്ചാലും അവള്ക്കു കൊടുക്കും എന്നു അവന് സത്യംചെയ്തു വാക്കുകൊടുത്തു.

7. He promised he would give her anything she asked.

8. അവള് അമ്മയുടെ ഉപദേശപ്രകാരംയോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന്റെ തല ഒരു താലത്തില് തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Because her mother told her to do it, she said, 'Give me the head of John the Baptist on a plate.'

9. രാജാവു ദുഃഖിച്ചു എങ്കിലും ചെയ്ത സത്യത്തെയും വിരുന്നുകാരെയും വിചാരിച്ചു അതു കൊടുപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു;

9. The king was sorry. But he said for it to be given because he had promised and because of those who were eating with him.

10. ആളയച്ചു തടവില് യോഹന്നാനെ ശിരഃഛേദം ചെയ്യിച്ചു.

10. He sent to the prison and had John's head cut off.

11. അവന്റെ തല ഒരു താലത്തില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ബാലെക്കു കൊടുത്തു; അവള് അമ്മെക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി കൊടുത്തു.

11. It was brought in on a plate and given to the girl. She brought it to her mother.

12. അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് ചെന്നു ഉടല് എടുത്തു കുഴിച്ചിട്ടുപിന്നെ വന്നു യേശുവിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

12. Then the followers of John came and took his body and buried it. They went and told Jesus.

13. അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു യേശു അവിടംവിട്ടു പടകില് കയറി നിര്ജ്ജനമായോരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു വേറിട്ടു വാങ്ങിപ്പോയി; പുരുഷാരം അതു കേട്ടു പട്ടണങ്ങളില് നിന്നു കാല്നടയായി അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.

13. When Jesus heard that John had been killed, He went from there by boat to a desert. He wanted to be alone. When the people knew it, they followed after Him by land from the cities.

14. അവന് വന്നു വലിയ പുരുഷാരത്തെ കണ്ടു അവരില് മനസ്സലിഞ്ഞു അവരുടെ രോഗികളെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി.

14. When He got out of the boat, He saw many people. He had loving-pity for them and healed those who were sick.

15. വൈകുന്നേരമായപ്പോള് ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുഈ സ്ഥലം മരുഭൂമിയല്ലോ; നേരവും വൈകി; പുരുഷാരം ഗ്രാമങ്ങളില് പോയി ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങള് കൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. When it was evening, His followers came to Him. They said, 'This is a desert. The day is past. Send the people away so they may go into the towns and buy food for themselves.'

16. യേശു അവരോടു“അവര് പോകുവാന് ആവശ്യമില്ല; നിങ്ങള് അവര്ക്കും ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് കൊടുപ്പിന് ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. Jesus said to them, 'They do not have to go away. Give them something to eat.'

17. അവര് അവനോടുഅഞ്ചു അപ്പവും രണ്ടു മീനും അല്ലാതെ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഇവിടെ ഒന്നു ഇല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. They said to Him, 'We have only five loaves of bread and two fish.'

18. “അതു ഇങ്ങുകൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് ” എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Jesus said, 'Bring them to Me.'

19. പിന്നെ പുരുഷാരം പുല്ലിന്മേല് ഇരിപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു; ആ അഞ്ചു അപ്പവും രണ്ടു മീനും എടുത്തു, സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തേക്കു നോക്കി വാഴ്ത്തി, അപ്പം നുറുക്കി, ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ പക്കലും ശിഷ്യന്മാര് പുരുഷാരത്തിന്നും കൊടുത്തു.

19. He told the people to sit down on the grass. Then He took the five loaves of bread and two fish. He looked up to heaven and gave thanks. He broke the loaves in pieces and gave them to His followers. The followers gave them to the people.

20. എല്ലാവരും തിന്നു തൃപ്തരായി; ശേഷിച്ച കഷണം പന്ത്രണ്ടു കൊട്ട നിറച്ചെടുത്തു.

20. They all ate and were filled. They picked up twelve baskets full of pieces of bread and fish after the people were finished eating.

21. തിന്നവരോ സ്ത്രീകളെയും പൈതങ്ങളെയും കൂടാതെ ഏകദേശം അയ്യായിരം പുരുഷന്മാര് ആയിരുന്നു.

21. About five thousand men ate. Women and children ate also.

22. ഉടനെ യേശു താന് പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കുന്നതിന്നിടയില് ശിഷ്യന്മാര് പടകില് കയറി, തനിക്കുമുമ്പായി അക്കരെക്കു പേകുവാന് അവരെ നിര്ബന്ധിച്ചു.

22. At once Jesus had His followers get into the boat. He told them to go ahead of Him to the other side while He sent the people away.

23. അവന് പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിട്ടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പാന് തനിയെ മലയില് കയറിപ്പോയി; വൈകുന്നേരം ആയപ്പോള് ഏകനായി അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.

23. After He had sent them away, He went up the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone.

24. പടകോ കരവിട്ടു പലനാഴിക ദൂരത്തായി, കാറ്റു പ്രതിക്കുലമാകകൊണ്ടു തിരകളാല് വലഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

24. By this time the boat was far from land and was being thrown around by the waves. The wind was strong against them.

25. രാത്രിയിലെ നാലാം യാമത്തില് അവന് കടലിന്മേല് നടന്നു അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

25. Just before the light of day, Jesus went to them walking on the water.

26. അവന് കടലിന്മേല് നടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാര് ഭ്രമിച്ചുഅതു ഒരു ഭൂതം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പേടിച്ചു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

26. When the followers saw Him walking on the water, they were afraid. They said, 'It is a spirit.' They cried out with fear.

27. ഉടനെ യേശു അവരോടു“ധൈര്യപ്പെടുവിന് ; ഞാന് ആകുന്നു; പേടിക്കേണ്ടാ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. At once Jesus spoke to them and said, 'Take hope. It is I. Do not be afraid!'

28. അതിന്നു പത്രൊസ്കര്ത്താവേ, നീ ആകുന്നു എങ്കില് ഞാന് വെള്ളത്തിന്മേല് നിന്റെ അടുക്കെ വരേണ്ടതിന്നു കല്പിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Peter said to Jesus, 'If it is You, Lord, tell me to come to You on the water.'

29. “വരിക” എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. പത്രൊസ് പടകില് നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി, യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുവാന് വെള്ളത്തിന്മേല് നടന്നു.

29. Jesus said, 'Come!' Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water to Jesus.

30. എന്നാല് അവന് കാറ്റു കണ്ടു പേടിച്ചു മുങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങുകയാല്കര്ത്താവേ, എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

30. But when he saw the strong wind, he was afraid. He began to go down in the water. He cried out, 'Lord, save me!'

31. യേശു ഉടനെ കൈ നീട്ടി അവനെ പിടിച്ചു“അല്പവിശ്വാസിയേ, നീ എന്തിന്നു സംശയിച്ചു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. At once Jesus put out His hand and took hold of him. Jesus said to Peter, 'You have so little faith! Why did you doubt?'

32. അവര് പടകില് കയറിയപ്പോള് കാറ്റു അമര്ന്നു.

32. When Jesus and Peter got into the boat, the wind stopped blowing.

33. പടകിലുള്ളവര്നീ ദൈവപുത്രന് സത്യം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
യോശുവ 5:14-15

33. Those in the boat worshiped Jesus. They said, 'For sure, You are the Son of God!'

34. അവര് അക്കരയെത്തി, ഗെന്നേസരെത്തു ദേശത്തു ചെന്നു.

34. When they had gone over to the other side, they came to the land of Gennesaret.

35. അവിടത്തെ ജനങ്ങള് അവന് ആരെന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാട്ടില് എല്ലാം ആളയച്ചു ദീനക്കാരെ ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

35. When the men of that land saw it was Jesus, they sent word into all the country around. They brought all who were sick to Jesus.

36. അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രത്തിന്റെ തൊങ്ങല് മാത്രം തൊടുവാന് അനുവാദം ചോദിച്ചു. തൊട്ടവര്ക്കും ഒക്കെയും സൌഖ്യം വന്നു.

36. They begged Him that they might touch the bottom of His coat. As many as touched the bottom of His coat were healed.
