1. ആ കാലത്തു ഇടപ്രഭുവായ ഹെരോദാവു യേശുവിന്റെ ശ്രുതി കേട്ടിട്ടു

1. In(At) that time Herod the tetrarcha heard of the fame of Jesu,

2. അവന് യോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന് ; അവന് മരിച്ചവരുടെ ഇടയില് നിന്നു ഉയിര്ത്തു; അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു ഈ ശക്തികള് അവനില് വ്യാപരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. and said unto his servants: This is John (the) baptist, he is risen again from death, and therefore his power is so great.(therefore are such miracles wrought by him.)

3. ഹെരോദാവു തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഫീലിപ്പൊസിന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഹെരോദ്യ നിമിത്തം, അവള് നിനക്കു ഭാര്യയായിരിക്കുന്നതു വിഹിതമല്ല എന്നു

3. For Herod took(had taken) John and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.

4. യോഹന്നാന് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു കൊണ്ടു തന്നേ, അവനെ പിടിച്ചു കെട്ടി തടവില് ആക്കിയിരുന്നു.

4. For John said unto him: It is not lawful for thee to have her.

5. അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് മനസ്സുണ്ടായിട്ടു പുരുഷാരം അവനെ പ്രവാചകന് എന്നു എണ്ണുകയാല് അവരെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

5. And when he would have put him to death, he feared the people, because they counted him as a prophet.

6. എന്നാല് ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ ജനനദിവസം ആയപ്പോള് ഹെരോദ്യയുടെ മകള് സഭാമദ്ധ്യേ നൃത്തം ചെയ്തു ഹെരോദാവിനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചു.

6. (But) When Herod's birth day was come the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

7. അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്തു ചോദിച്ചാലും അവള്ക്കു കൊടുക്കും എന്നു അവന് സത്യംചെയ്തു വാക്കുകൊടുത്തു.

7. Wherefore he promised with an oath, that he would give her whatsoever she would ask.

8. അവള് അമ്മയുടെ ഉപദേശപ്രകാരംയോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന്റെ തല ഒരു താലത്തില് തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And she being informed of her mother before, said give me here John baptist's head in a platter.

9. രാജാവു ദുഃഖിച്ചു എങ്കിലും ചെയ്ത സത്യത്തെയും വിരുന്നുകാരെയും വിചാരിച്ചു അതു കൊടുപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു;

9. And the King sorrowed:(was sorry) nevertheless for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat also at the table, he commanded it to be given her.

10. ആളയച്ചു തടവില് യോഹന്നാനെ ശിരഃഛേദം ചെയ്യിച്ചു.

10. And sent and beheaded John in the prison,

11. അവന്റെ തല ഒരു താലത്തില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ബാലെക്കു കൊടുത്തു; അവള് അമ്മെക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി കൊടുത്തു.

11. and his head was brought in a platter, and given to the damsel, and she brought it to her mother.

12. അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് ചെന്നു ഉടല് എടുത്തു കുഴിച്ചിട്ടുപിന്നെ വന്നു യേശുവിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

12. And his disciples came, and took up his body, and buried it: And went and told Jesus.

13. അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു യേശു അവിടംവിട്ടു പടകില് കയറി നിര്ജ്ജനമായോരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു വേറിട്ടു വാങ്ങിപ്പോയി; പുരുഷാരം അതു കേട്ടു പട്ടണങ്ങളില് നിന്നു കാല്നടയായി അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.

13. When Jesus had heard that, he departed thence by ship into a desert place out of the way. And when the people had heard thereof, they followed him afoot out of their cities.

14. അവന് വന്നു വലിയ പുരുഷാരത്തെ കണ്ടു അവരില് മനസ്സലിഞ്ഞു അവരുടെ രോഗികളെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി.

14. And Jesus went forth and saw much people: and his heart did melt upon them, and he healed of them those that were sick.

15. വൈകുന്നേരമായപ്പോള് ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുഈ സ്ഥലം മരുഭൂമിയല്ലോ; നേരവും വൈകി; പുരുഷാരം ഗ്രാമങ്ങളില് പോയി ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങള് കൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. When even was come, his disciples came to him saying: This is a desert place, and the day is spent, let the people depart that they may go in to the towns, and buy them vitailles.

16. യേശു അവരോടു“അവര് പോകുവാന് ആവശ്യമില്ല; നിങ്ങള് അവര്ക്കും ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് കൊടുപ്പിന് ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. But Jesus said unto them: They have no need to go away: Give ye them to eat.

17. അവര് അവനോടുഅഞ്ചു അപ്പവും രണ്ടു മീനും അല്ലാതെ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഇവിടെ ഒന്നു ഇല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. Then said they unto him: We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18. “അതു ഇങ്ങുകൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് ” എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

18. (And) He said: Bring them hither to me.

19. പിന്നെ പുരുഷാരം പുല്ലിന്മേല് ഇരിപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു; ആ അഞ്ചു അപ്പവും രണ്ടു മീനും എടുത്തു, സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തേക്കു നോക്കി വാഴ്ത്തി, അപ്പം നുറുക്കി, ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ പക്കലും ശിഷ്യന്മാര് പുരുഷാരത്തിന്നും കൊടുത്തു.

19. And he commanded, the people to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looked up to heaven, and blessed,(gave thanks) and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

20. എല്ലാവരും തിന്നു തൃപ്തരായി; ശേഷിച്ച കഷണം പന്ത്രണ്ടു കൊട്ട നിറച്ചെടുത്തു.

20. And they all ate,(did all eat) and were sufficed. And they gathered up of the gobbets that remained twelve baskets full.

21. തിന്നവരോ സ്ത്രീകളെയും പൈതങ്ങളെയും കൂടാതെ ഏകദേശം അയ്യായിരം പുരുഷന്മാര് ആയിരുന്നു.

21. (And) They that ate were in number about five thousand men, besides women and children.

22. ഉടനെ യേശു താന് പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കുന്നതിന്നിടയില് ശിഷ്യന്മാര് പടകില് കയറി, തനിക്കുമുമ്പായി അക്കരെക്കു പേകുവാന് അവരെ നിര്ബന്ധിച്ചു.

22. And straight way Jesus made his disciples enter in to a ship, and to go over before him, while he sent the people away.

23. അവന് പുരുഷാരത്തെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിട്ടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പാന് തനിയെ മലയില് കയറിപ്പോയി; വൈകുന്നേരം ആയപ്പോള് ഏകനായി അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.

23. And as soon as he had sent the people away, he went up into a mountain alone to pray. And when night was come he was there himself alone.

24. പടകോ കരവിട്ടു പലനാഴിക ദൂരത്തായി, കാറ്റു പ്രതിക്കുലമാകകൊണ്ടു തിരകളാല് വലഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

24. And the ship was (now) in the midst of the sea, and was tossed with waves, for it was a contrary wind.

25. രാത്രിയിലെ നാലാം യാമത്തില് അവന് കടലിന്മേല് നടന്നു അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

25. In the fourth watch of the night Jesus came unto them, walking on the sea:

26. അവന് കടലിന്മേല് നടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാര് ഭ്രമിച്ചുഅതു ഒരു ഭൂതം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പേടിച്ചു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

26. and when his disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were amazed,(troubled) saying: it is some spirit, and cried out for fear.

27. ഉടനെ യേശു അവരോടു“ധൈര്യപ്പെടുവിന് ; ഞാന് ആകുന്നു; പേടിക്കേണ്ടാ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. And straightway Jesus spake unto them saying: be of good cheer, it is I, be not afraid.

28. അതിന്നു പത്രൊസ്കര്ത്താവേ, നീ ആകുന്നു എങ്കില് ഞാന് വെള്ളത്തിന്മേല് നിന്റെ അടുക്കെ വരേണ്ടതിന്നു കല്പിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Peter answered, (him) and said: Master, and(if) thou be he, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29. “വരിക” എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. പത്രൊസ് പടകില് നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി, യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുവാന് വെള്ളത്തിന്മേല് നടന്നു.

29. And he said come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30. എന്നാല് അവന് കാറ്റു കണ്ടു പേടിച്ചു മുങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങുകയാല്കര്ത്താവേ, എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

30. But when he saw a mighty wind, he was afraid. And as he began to sink, he cried saying: Master save me.

31. യേശു ഉടനെ കൈ നീട്ടി അവനെ പിടിച്ചു“അല്പവിശ്വാസിയേ, നീ എന്തിന്നു സംശയിച്ചു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said to him: O thou of little faith: wherefore didst thou doubt?

32. അവര് പടകില് കയറിയപ്പോള് കാറ്റു അമര്ന്നു.

32. And as soon as they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

33. പടകിലുള്ളവര്നീ ദൈവപുത്രന് സത്യം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
യോശുവ 5:14-15

33. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him,(fell down before him) saying: Of a truth thou art the son of God.

34. അവര് അക്കരയെത്തി, ഗെന്നേസരെത്തു ദേശത്തു ചെന്നു.

34. And when they were come over, they went in to the land of Genazareth.

35. അവിടത്തെ ജനങ്ങള് അവന് ആരെന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാട്ടില് എല്ലാം ആളയച്ചു ദീനക്കാരെ ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

35. And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were sick,

36. അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രത്തിന്റെ തൊങ്ങല് മാത്രം തൊടുവാന് അനുവാദം ചോദിച്ചു. തൊട്ടവര്ക്കും ഒക്കെയും സൌഖ്യം വന്നു.

36. and besought him, that they might touch the border(hem) of his vesture only. And as many as touched it,(hytt) were made safe.(whole)
