1. പിന്നെ അവന് ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുധനവാനായോരു മനുഷ്യന്നു ഒരു കാര്യവിചാരകന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് അവന്റെ വസ്തുവക നാനാവിധമാക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചിലര് അവനെ കുറ്റം പറഞ്ഞു.

1. Jesus also said to his followers, 'Once there was a rich man who had a manager to take care of his business. This manager was accused of cheating him.

2. അവന് അവനെ വിളിച്ചുനിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു ഈ കേള്ക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? നിന്റെ കാര്യവിചാരത്തിന്റെ കണകൂ ഏല്പിച്ചുതരിക; നീ ഇനി കാര്യവിചാരകനായിരിപ്പാന് പാടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. So he called the manager in and said to him, 'What is this I hear about you? Give me a report of what you have done with my money, because you can't be my manager any longer.'

3. എന്നാറെ കാര്യ വിചാരകന് ഞാന് എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു? യജമാനന് കാര്യവിചാരത്തില് നിന്നു എന്നെ നീക്കുവാന് പോകുന്നു; കിളെപ്പാന് എനിക്കു പ്രാപ്തിയില്ല; ഇരപ്പാന് ഞാന് നാണിക്കുന്നു.

3. The manager thought to himself, 'What will I do since my master is taking my job away from me? I am not strong enough to dig ditches, and I am ashamed to beg.

4. എന്നെ കാര്യവിചാരത്തില്നിന്നു നീക്കിയാല് അവര് എന്നെ തങ്ങളുടെ വീടുകളില് ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്വാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് ചെയ്യേണ്ടതു എന്തു എന്നു എനിക്കു അറിയാം എന്നു ഉള്ളുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. I know what I'll do so that when I lose my job people will welcome me into their homes.'

5. പിന്നെ അവന് യജമാനന്റെ കടക്കാരില് ഔരോരുത്തനെ വരുത്തി ഒന്നാമത്തവനോടുനീ യജമാനന്നു എത്ര കടംപെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

5. So the manager called in everyone who owed the master any money. He asked the first one, 'How much do you owe?'

6. നൂറു കുടം എണ്ണ എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവനോടുനിന്റെ കൈച്ചീട്ടു വാങ്ങി വേഗം ഇരുന്നു അമ്പതു എന്നു എഴുതുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. He answered, 'Eight hundred gallons of olive oil.' The manager said to him, 'Take your bill, sit down quickly, and write four hundred gallons.'

7. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം മറ്റൊരുത്തനോടുനീ എത്ര കടം പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. നൂറു പറ കോതമ്പു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു; അവനോടുനിന്റെ കൈച്ചീട്ടു വാങ്ങി എണ്പതു എന്നു എഴുതുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Then the manager asked another one, 'How much do you owe?' He answered, 'One thousand bushels of wheat.' Then the manager said to him, 'Take your bill and write eight hundred bushels.'

8. ഈ അനീതിയുള്ള കാര്യവിചാരകന് ബുദ്ധിയോടെ പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു യജമാനന് അവനെ പുകഴ്ത്തി; വെളിച്ചമക്കളെക്കാള് ഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ മക്കള് തങ്ങളുടെ തലമുറയില് ബുദ്ധിയേറിയവരല്ലോ.

8. So, the master praised the dishonest manager for being smart. Yes, worldly people are smarter with their own kind than spiritual people are.

9. അനീതിയുള്ള മമ്മോനെക്കൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെ ഉണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊള്വിന് എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു. അതു ഇല്ലാതെയാകുമ്പോള് അവര് നിത്യ കൂടാരങ്ങളില് നിങ്ങളെ ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്വാന് ഇടയാകും.

9. I tell you, make friends for yourselves using worldly riches so that when those riches are gone, you will be welcomed in those homes that continue forever.

10. അത്യല്പത്തില് വിശ്വസ്തനായവന് അധികത്തിലും വിശ്വസ്തന് ; അത്യല്പത്തില് നീതികെട്ടവന് അധികത്തിലും നീതി കെട്ടവന് .

10. Whoever can be trusted with a little can also be trusted with a lot, and whoever is dishonest with a little is dishonest with a lot.

11. നിങ്ങള് അനീതിയുള്ള മമ്മോനില് വിശ്വസ്തരായില്ല എങ്കില് സത്യമായതു നിങ്ങളെ ആര് ഭരമേല്പിക്കും?

11. If you cannot be trusted with worldly riches, then who will trust you with true riches?

12. അന്യമായതില് വിശ്വസ്തരായില്ല എങ്കില് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സ്വന്തമായതു ആര് തരും?

12. And if you cannot be trusted with things that belong to someone else, who will give you things of your own?

13. രണ്ടു യജമാനന്മാരെ സേവിപ്പാന് ഒരു ഭൃത്യന്നും കഴികയില്ല; അവന് ഒരുവനെ പകെച്ചു മറ്റവനെ സ്നേഹിക്കും; അല്ലെങ്കില് ഒരുത്തനോടു പറ്റിച്ചേര്ന്നു മറ്റവനെ നിരസിക്കും. നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ദൈവത്തെയും മമ്മോനെയും സേവിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല.

13. No servant can serve two masters. The servant will hate one master and love the other, or will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly riches.'

14. ഇതൊക്കെയും ദ്രവ്യാഗ്രഹികളായ പരീശന്മാര് കേട്ടു അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു.

14. The Pharisees, who loved money, were listening to all these things and made fun of Jesus.

15. അവന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളെ തന്നേ മനുഷ്യരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നീതീകരിക്കുന്നവര് ആകുന്നു; ദൈവമോ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം അറിയുന്നു; മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയില് ഉന്നതമായതു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ അറെപ്പത്രേ.

15. He said to them, 'You make yourselves look good in front of people, but God knows what is really in your hearts. What is important to people is hateful in God's sight.

16. ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്റെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും കാലം യോഹന്നാന് വരെ ആയിരുന്നു; അന്നുമുതല് ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെ സുവിശേഷിച്ചുവരുന്നു; എല്ലാവരും ബലാല്ക്കാരേണ അതില് കടപ്പാന് നോക്കുന്നു.

16. The law of Moses and the writings of the prophets were preached until John came. Since then the Good News about the kingdom of God is being told, and everyone tries to enter it by force.

17. ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് ഒരു പുള്ളി വീണുപോകുന്നതിനെക്കാള് ആകാശവും ഭൂമിയും ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നതു എളുപ്പം.

17. It would be easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for the smallest part of a letter in the law to be changed.

18. ഭാര്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു മറ്റൊരുത്തിയെ വിവാഹം കഴിക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുന്നു; ഭര്ത്താവു ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചവളെ വിവാഹം കഴിക്കുന്നവനും വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

18. If a man divorces his wife and marries another woman, he is guilty of adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman is also guilty of adultery.'

19. ധനവാനായോരു മനുഷ്യന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രവും പട്ടും ധരിച്ചു ദിനന്പ്രതി ആഡംബരത്തോടെ സുഖിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

19. Jesus said, 'There was a rich man who always dressed in the finest clothes and lived in luxury every day.

20. ലാസര് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു ദരിദ്രന് വ്രണം നിറഞ്ഞവനായി അവന്റെ പടിപ്പുരക്കല് കിടന്നു

20. And a very poor man named Lazarus, whose body was covered with sores, was laid at the rich man's gate.

21. ധനവാന്റെ മേശയില് നിന്നു വീഴുന്നതു തിന്നു വിശപ്പടക്കുവാന് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു; നായ്ക്കളും വന്നു അവന്റെ വ്രണം നക്കും.

21. He wanted to eat only the small pieces of food that fell from the rich man's table. And the dogs would come and lick his sores.

22. ആ ദരിദ്രന് മരിച്ചപ്പോള് ദൂതന്മാര് അവനെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ മടിയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

22. Later, Lazarus died, and the angels carried him to the arms of Abraham. The rich man died, too, and was buried.

23. ധനവാനും മരിച്ചു അടക്കപ്പെട്ടു; പാതാളത്തില് യാതന അനുഭവിക്കുമ്പോള് മേലോട്ടു നോക്കി ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു അബ്രാഹാമിനെയും അവന്റെ മടിയില് ലാസരിനെയും കണ്ടു

23. In the place of the dead, he was in much pain. The rich man saw Abraham far away with Lazarus at his side.

24. അബ്രാഹാംപിതാവേ, എന്നോടു കനിവുണ്ടാകേണമേ; ലാസര് വിരലിന്റെ അറ്റം വെള്ളത്തില് മുക്കി എന്റെ നാവിനെ തണുപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ അയക്കേണമേ; ഞാന് ഈ ജ്വാലയില് കിടന്നു വേദന അനുഭവിക്കുന്നു എന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. He called, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am suffering in this fire!'

25. അബ്രാഹാംമകനേ, നിന്റെ ആയുസ്സില് നീ നന്മയും ലാസര് അവ്വണ്ണം തിന്മയും പ്രാപിച്ചു എന്നു ഔര്ക്ക; ഇപ്പോള് അവന് ഇവിടെ ആശ്വസിക്കുന്നുനീയോ വേദന അനുഭവിക്കുന്നു.

25. But Abraham said, 'Child, remember when you were alive you had the good things in life, but bad things happened to Lazarus. Now he is comforted here, and you are suffering.

26. അത്രയുമല്ല ഞങ്ങള്ക്കും നിങ്ങള്ക്കും നടുവെ വലിയോരു പിളര്പ്പുണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇവിടെ നിന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് കടന്നുവരുവാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും കഴിവില്ല; അവിടെ നിന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് കടന്നു വരുവാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും കഴിവില്ല; അവിടെനിന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് കടന്നു വരുവാനും പാടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Besides, there is a big pit between you and us, so no one can cross over to you, and no one can leave there and come here.'

27. അതിന്നു അവന് എന്നാല് പിതാവേ, അവനെ എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വീട്ടില് അയക്കേണമെന്നു ഞാന് അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു;

27. The rich man said, 'Father, then please send Lazarus to my father's house.

28. എനിക്കു അഞ്ചു സഹോദരന്മാര് ഉണ്ടു; അവരും ഈ യാതനാസ്ഥലത്തു വരാതിരിപ്പാന് അവന് അവരോടു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. I have five brothers, and Lazarus could warn them so that they will not come to this place of pain.'

29. അബ്രാഹാം അവനോടുഅവര്ക്കും മോശെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; അവരുടെ വാക്കു അവര് കേള്ക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

29. But Abraham said, 'They have the law of Moses and the writings of the prophets; let them learn from them.'

30. അതിന്നു അവന് അല്ലല്ല, അബ്രാഹാം പിതാവേ, മരിച്ചവരില്നിന്നു ഒരുത്തന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു എങ്കില് അവര് മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

30. The rich man said, 'No, father Abraham! If someone goes to them from the dead, they would believe and change their hearts and lives.'

31. അവന് അവനോടുഅവര് മോശെയുടെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും വാക്കു കേള്ക്കാഞ്ഞാല് മരിച്ചവരില് നിന്നു ഒരുത്തന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ചെന്നാലും വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. But Abraham said to him, 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not listen to someone who comes back from the dead.''
