1. ജനം കേള്ക്കെ തന്റെ വചനം ഒക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞുതീര്ന്ന ശേഷം അവന് കഫര്ന്നഹൂമില് ചെന്നു.

1. Jesus finished saying all those things to the people. Then he entered Capernaum.

2. അവിടെ ഒരു ശതാധിപന്നു പ്രിയനായ ദാസന് ദീനം പിടിച്ചു മരിപ്പാറായിരുന്നു.

2. There the servant of a Roman commander was sick and about to die. His master thought highly of him.

3. അവന് യേശുവിന്റെ വസ്തുത കേട്ടിട്ടു, അവന് വന്നു തന്റെ ദാസനെ രക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടിതിന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിപ്പാന് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ മൂപ്പന്മാരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു.

3. The commander heard about Jesus. So he sent some elders of the Jews to him. He told them to ask Jesus to come and heal his servant.

4. അവന് യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവനോടു താല്പര്യമായി അപേക്ഷിച്ചുനീ അതു ചെയ്തുകൊടുപ്പാന് അവന് യോഗ്യന് ;

4. They came to Jesus and begged him, 'This man deserves to have you do this.

5. അവന് നമ്മുടെ ജനത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു പള്ളിയും തീര്പ്പിച്ചുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. He loves our nation and has built our synagogue.'

6. യേശു അവരോടുകൂടെ പോയി, വീട്ടിനോടു അടുപ്പാറായപ്പോള് ശതാധിപന് സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചുകര്ത്താവേ, പ്രയാസപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നി എന്റെ പുരെക്കകത്തു വരുവാന് ഞാന് പോരാത്തവന് .

6. So Jesus went with them. When Jesus came near the house, the Roman commander sent friends to him. He told them to say, 'Lord, don't trouble yourself. I am not good enough to have you come into my house.

7. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുവാന് ഞാന് യോഗ്യന് എന്നു എനിക്കു തോന്നിട്ടില്ല. ഒരു വാക്കു കല്പിച്ചാല് എന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരന്നു സൌഖ്യംവരും.

7. That is why I did not even think I was fit to come to you. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

8. ഞാനും അധികാരത്തിന്നു കീഴ്പെട്ട മനുഷ്യന് ; എന്റെ കീഴില് പടയാളികള് ഉണ്ടു; ഒരുവനോടു പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് അവന് പോകുന്നു; മറ്റൊരുവനോടു വരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് അവന് വരുന്നു; എന്റെ ദാസനോടുഇതു ചെയ്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് അവന് ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

8. I myself am a man who is under authority. And I have soldiers who obey my orders. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes. I tell that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it.'

9. യേശു അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു അവങ്കല് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു തിരിഞ്ഞുനോക്കി, അനുഗമിക്കുന്നക്കുട്ടത്തോടുയിസ്രായേലില്കൂടെ ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വിശ്വാസം ഞാന് കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു;

9. When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him. He turned to the crowd that was following him. He said, 'I tell you, even in Israel I have not found anyone whose faith is so strong.'

10. ശതാധിപന് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിരുന്നവര് വീട്ടില് മടങ്ങി വന്നപ്പോള് ദാസനെ സൌഖ്യത്തോടെ കണ്ടു.

10. Then the men who had been sent to Jesus returned to the house. They found that the servant was healed.

11. പിറ്റെന്നാള് അവന് നയിന് എന്ന പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു പോകുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരും വളരെ പുരുഷാരവും കൂടെ പോയി.

11. Some time later, Jesus went to a town called Nain. His disciples and a large crowd went along with him.

12. അവന് പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ വാതിലോടു അടുത്തപ്പോള് മരിച്ചുപോയ ഒരുത്തനെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു; അവന് അമ്മകൂ ഏകജാതനായ മകന് ; അവളോ വിധവ ആയിരുന്നു. പട്ടണത്തിലെ ഒരു വലിയ പുരുഷാരവും അവളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

12. He approached the town gate. Just then, a dead person was being carried out. He was the only son of his mother. She was a widow. A large crowd from the town was with her.

13. അവളെ കണ്ടിട്ടു കര്ത്താവു മനസ്സലിഞ്ഞു അവളോടുകരയേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് അടുത്തു ചെന്നു മഞ്ചം തൊട്ടു ചുമക്കുന്നവര് നിന്നു.

13. When the Lord saw her, he felt sorry for her. So he said, 'Don't cry.'

14. ബാല്യക്കാരാ എഴുന്നേല്ക്ക എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Then he went up and touched the coffin. Those carrying it stood still. Jesus said, 'Young man, I say to you, get up!'

15. The dead man sat up and began to talk. Then Jesus gave him back to his mother.

16. എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ഭയംപിടിച്ചുഒരു വലിയ പ്രവാചകന് നമ്മുടെ ഇടയില് എഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവം തന്റെ ജനത്തെ സന്ദര്ശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വീകരിച്ചു.

16. The people were all filled with wonder and praised God. 'A great prophet has appeared among us,' they said. 'God has come to help his people.'

17. അവനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഈ ശ്രുതി യെഹൂദ്യയില് ഒക്കെയും ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാടെങ്ങും പരന്നു.

17. This news about Jesus spread all through Judea and the whole country.

18. ഇതു ഒക്കെയും യോഹന്നാന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

18. John's disciples told him about all these things. So he chose two of them.

19. എന്നാറെ യോഹന്നാന് തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരില് രണ്ടുപേരെ വിളിച്ചു, കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചുവരുവാനുള്ളവന് നീയോ? അല്ല, ഞങ്ങള് മറ്റൊരുത്തനെ കാത്തിരിക്കേണമോ എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

19. He sent them to the Lord. They were to ask Jesus, 'Are you the one who was supposed to come? Or should we look for someone else?'

20. ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുവരുവാനുള്ളവന് നീയോ? അല്ല, ഞങ്ങള് മറ്റൊരുത്തനെ കാത്തിരിക്കേണമോ എന്നു ചോദിപ്പാന് യോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന് ഞങ്ങളെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. The men came to Jesus. They said, 'John the Baptist sent us to ask you, 'Are you the one who was supposed to come? Or should we look for someone else?' '

21. ആ നാഴികയില് അവന് വ്യാധികളും ദണ്ഡങ്ങളും ദുരാത്മാക്കളും പിടിച്ച പലരെയും സൌഖ്യമാക്കുകയും പല കുരുടന്മാര്ക്കും കാഴ്ച നലകുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടു അവരോടു

21. At that very time Jesus healed many people. They had illnesses, sicknesses and evil spirits. He also gave sight to many who were blind.

22. കുരുടര് കാണുന്നു; മുടന്തര് നടക്കുന്നു; കുഷ്ഠരോഗികള് ശുദ്ധരായിത്തീരുന്നു; ചെകിടര് കേള്ക്കുന്നു; മരിച്ചവര് ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേലക്കുന്നു; ദിരദ്രന്മാരോടു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്നു എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് കാണുകയും കേള്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു യോഹന്നാനെ ചെന്നു അറിയിപ്പിന് .

22. So Jesus replied to the messengers, 'Go back to John. Tell him what you have seen and heard. Blind people receive sight. Disabled people walk. Those who have skin diseases are healed. Deaf people hear. Those who are dead are raised to life. And the good news is preached to those who are poor.

23. എന്നാല് എങ്കല് ഇടറിപ്പോകാത്തവന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

23. Blessed are those who do not give up their faith because of me.'

24. യോഹന്നാന്റെ ദൂതന്മാര് പോയശേഷം അവന് പുരുഷാരത്തോടു യോഹന്നാനെക്കുറിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങിയതുനിങ്ങള് എന്തു കാണ്മാന് മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പോയി? കാറ്റിനാല് ഉലയുന്ന ഔടയോ?

24. So John's messengers left. Then Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John. He said, 'What did you go out into the desert to see? Tall grass waving in the wind?

25. അല്ല, എന്തു കാണ്മാന് പോയി? മാര്ദ്ദവവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ച മനുഷ്യനെയോ? മോടിയുള്ള വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു സുഖഭോഗികളായി നടക്കുന്നവര് രാജധാനികളില് അത്രേ.

25. If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No. Those who wear fine clothes and have many expensive things are in palaces.

26. അല്ല, എന്തു കാണ്മാന് പോയി? ഒരു പ്രവാചകനെയൊ? അതേ, പ്രവാചകനിലും മികച്ചവനെ തന്നേ എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു

26. Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.

27. “ഞാന് എന്റെ ദൂതനെ നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി അയയക്കുന്നു; അവന് നിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിനക്കു വഴി ഒരുക്കും” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു അവനെക്കുറിച്ചാകുന്നു.

27. 'He is the one written about in Scripture. It says, ' 'I will send my messenger ahead of you. He will prepare your way for you.' --(Malachi 3:1)

28. സ്ത്രീകളില് നിന്നു ജനിച്ചവരില് യോഹന്നാനെക്കാള് വലിയവന് ആരുമില്ല; ദൈവരാജ്യത്തില് ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയവനോ അവനിലും വലിയവന് എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.--

28. I tell you, no one more important than John has ever been born. But the least important person in God's kingdom is more important than he is.'

29. എന്നാല് ജനം ഒക്കെയും ചുങ്കക്കാരും കേട്ടിട്ടു യോഹന്നാന്റെ സ്നാനം ഏറ്റതിനാല് ദൈവത്തെ നീതീകരിച്ചു.

29. All the people who heard Jesus' words agreed that God's way was right. Even the tax collectors agreed. These people had all been baptized by John.

30. എങ്കിലും പരീശന്മാരും ന്യായശാസ്ത്രിമാരും അവനാല് സ്നാനം ഏല്ക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലോചന തങ്ങള്ക്കു വൃഥാവാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു. -

30. But the Pharisees and the authorities on the law did not accept God's purpose for themselves. They had not been baptized by John.

31. ഈ തലമുറയിലെ മനുഷ്യരെ ഏതിനോടു ഉപമിക്കേണ്ടു? അവര് ഏതിനോടു തുല്യം?

31. What can I compare today's people to?' Jesus asked. 'What are they like?

32. ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങള്ക്കായി കുഴലൂതി, നിങ്ങള് നൃത്തം ചെയ്തില്ല; ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങള്ക്കായി വിലാപം പാടി, നിങ്ങള് കരഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു ചന്തസ്ഥലത്തു ഇരുന്നു അന്യോന്യം വിളിച്ചു പറയുന്ന കുട്ടികളോടു അവര് തുല്യര്.

32. They are like children sitting in the market place and calling out to each other. They say, ' 'We played a flute for you. But you didn't dance. We sang a funeral song. But you didn't cry.'

33. യോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന് അപ്പം തിന്നാതെയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കാതെയും വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു ഭൂതം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നു.

33. 'That is how it has been with John the Baptist. When he came to you, he didn't eat bread or drink wine. And you say, 'He has a demon.'

34. മനുഷ്യപുത്രന് തിന്നും കുടിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; തിന്നിയും കുടിയനും ആയ മനുഷ്യന് ചുങ്കക്കാരുടെയും പാപികളുടെയും സ്നേഹിതന് എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നു.

34. But when the Son of Man came, he ate and drank as you do. And you say, 'This fellow is always eating and drinking far too much. He's a friend of tax collectors and 'sinners.' '

35. ജ്ഞാനമോ തന്റെ എല്ലാ മക്കളാലും നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

35. All who follow wisdom prove that wisdom is right.'

36. പരീശന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തന് തന്നോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പാന് അവനെ ക്ഷണിച്ചു; അവന് പരീശന്റെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നിരുന്നു.

36. One of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him. So he went to the Pharisee's house. He took his place at the table.

37. ആ പട്ടണത്തില് പാപിയായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീ, അവന് പരീശന്റെ വീട്ടില് ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു അറിഞ്ഞു ഒരു വെണ്കല്ഭരണി പരിമളതൈലം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു,

37. There was a woman in that town who had lived a sinful life. She learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house. So she came with a special sealed jar of perfume.

38. പുറകില് അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു നിന്നു കണ്ണിനീര്കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കാല് നനെച്ചുതുടങ്ങി; തലമുടികൊണ്ടു തുടെച്ചു കാല് ചുംബിച്ചു തൈലം പൂശി.

38. She stood behind Jesus and cried at his feet. She began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair. She kissed them and poured perfume on them.

39. അവനെ ക്ഷണിച്ച പരീശന് അതു കണ്ടിട്ടുഇവന് പ്രവാചകന് ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കില്, തന്നെ തൊടുന്ന സ്ത്രീ ആരെന്നും എങ്ങനെയുള്ളവള് എന്നും അറിയുമായിരുന്നു; അവള് പാപിയല്ലോ എന്നു ഉള്ളില് പറഞ്ഞു

39. The Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this. He said to himself, 'If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him. He would know what kind of woman she is. She is a sinner!'

40. ശിമോനേ, നിന്നോടു ഒന്നു പറവാനുണ്ടു എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഗുരോ, പറഞ്ഞാലും എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

40. Jesus answered him, 'Simon, I have something to tell you.' 'Tell me, teacher,' he said.

41. കടം കൊടുക്കുന്ന ഒരുത്തന്നു രണ്ടു കടക്കാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഒരുത്തന് അഞ്ഞൂറു വെള്ളിക്കാശും മറ്റവന് അമ്പതു വെള്ളിക്കാശും കൊടുപ്പാനുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

41. Two people owed money to a certain lender. One owed him 500 silver coins. The other owed him 50 silver coins.

42. വീട്ടുവാന് അവര്ക്കും വക ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് അവന് ഇരുവര്ക്കും ഇളെച്ചുകൊടുത്തു; എന്നാല് അവരില് ആര് അവനെ അധികം സ്നേഹിക്കും?

42. Neither of them had the money to pay him back. So he let them go without paying. Which of them will love him more?'

43. അധികം ഇളെചചുകിട്ടിയവന് എന്നു ഞാന് ഊഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ശിമോന് പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവനോടുനീ വിധിച്ചതു ശരി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സ്ത്രിയുടെ നേരെ തരിഞ്ഞു ശിമോനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഈ സ്ത്രീയെ കാണുന്നുവോ? ഞാന് നിന്റെ വീട്ടില് വന്നു, നീ എന്റെ കാലിന്നു വെള്ളം തന്നില്ല; ഇവളോ കണ്ണുനീര്കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കാല് നനെച്ചു തലമുടികൊണ്ടു തുടെച്ചു.

43. Simon replied, 'I suppose the one who owed the most money.' 'You are right,' Jesus said.

44. നീ എനിക്കു ചുംബനം തന്നില്ല; ഇവളോ ഞാന് അകത്തു വന്നതു മുതല് ഇടവിടാതെ എന്റെ കാല് ചുംബിച്ചു.

44. Then he turned toward the woman. He said to Simon, 'Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water to wash my feet. But she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.

45. നീ എന്റെ തലയില് തൈലം പൂശിയില്ല; ഇവളോ പരിമള തൈലംകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കാല് പൂശി.

45. You did not give me a kiss. But this woman has not stopped kissing my feet since I came in.

46. ആകയാല് ഇവളുടെ അനേകമായ പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു; അവള് വളരെ സ്നേഹിച്ചുവല്ലോ; അല്പം മോചിച്ചുകിട്ടിയവന് അല്പം സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു.

46. You did not put any olive oil on my head. But she has poured perfume on my feet.

47. So I tell you this. Her many sins have been forgiven. She has loved a lot. But the one who has been forgiven little loves only a little.'

48. അവനോടു കൂടെ പന്തിയില് ഇരുന്നവര്പാപമോചനവും കൊടുക്കുന്ന ഇവന് ആര് എന്നു തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി.

48. Then Jesus said to her, 'Your sins are forgiven.'

49. അവനോ സ്ത്രീയോടുനിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം നിന്നെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

49. The other guests began to talk about this among themselves. They said, 'Who is this who even forgives sins?'
