1. ജനം കേള്ക്കെ തന്റെ വചനം ഒക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞുതീര്ന്ന ശേഷം അവന് കഫര്ന്നഹൂമില് ചെന്നു.

1. After he had completed all his sayings within the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

2. അവിടെ ഒരു ശതാധിപന്നു പ്രിയനായ ദാസന് ദീനം പിടിച്ചു മരിപ്പാറായിരുന്നു.

2. And, a certain centurion's servant, being sick, was on the point of dying, who was, by him, highly prized.

3. അവന് യേശുവിന്റെ വസ്തുത കേട്ടിട്ടു, അവന് വന്നു തന്റെ ദാസനെ രക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടിതിന്നു അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിപ്പാന് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ മൂപ്പന്മാരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചു.

3. But, hearing about Jesus, he sent forth unto him elders of the Jews, requesting him that he would come and bring his servant safely through.

4. അവന് യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവനോടു താല്പര്യമായി അപേക്ഷിച്ചുനീ അതു ചെയ്തുകൊടുപ്പാന് അവന് യോഗ്യന് ;

4. And, they, coming near unto Jesus, began beseeching him earnestly, saying Worthy, is he for whom thou mayest do this,

5. അവന് നമ്മുടെ ജനത്തെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു പള്ളിയും തീര്പ്പിച്ചുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. for he loveth our nation, and, the synagogue, he, built for us.

6. യേശു അവരോടുകൂടെ പോയി, വീട്ടിനോടു അടുപ്പാറായപ്പോള് ശതാധിപന് സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചുകര്ത്താവേ, പ്രയാസപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നി എന്റെ പുരെക്കകത്തു വരുവാന് ഞാന് പോരാത്തവന് .

6. And, Jesus, was journeying with them. But, he, by this time, being not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying unto him Lord! do not trouble thyself, for I am of no consideration, that, under my roof, thou shouldst enter.

7. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുവാന് ഞാന് യോഗ്യന് എന്നു എനിക്കു തോന്നിട്ടില്ല. ഒരു വാക്കു കല്പിച്ചാല് എന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരന്നു സൌഖ്യംവരും.

7. Wherefore, neither deemed I, myself, worthy to come unto thee, but speak with a word, and let my servant be healed.

8. ഞാനും അധികാരത്തിന്നു കീഴ്പെട്ട മനുഷ്യന് ; എന്റെ കീഴില് പടയാളികള് ഉണ്ടു; ഒരുവനോടു പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് അവന് പോകുന്നു; മറ്റൊരുവനോടു വരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് അവന് വരുന്നു; എന്റെ ദാസനോടുഇതു ചെയ്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് അവന് ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

8. For, I too, am a man ranked, under authority, having, under myself, soldiers; and I say to this one Go! and he goeth, and to another Come! and he cometh, and to my servant Do this! and he doeth it.

9. യേശു അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു അവങ്കല് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു തിരിഞ്ഞുനോക്കി, അനുഗമിക്കുന്നക്കുട്ടത്തോടുയിസ്രായേലില്കൂടെ ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വിശ്വാസം ഞാന് കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു;

9. And, hearing these things, Jesus marvelled at him; and, turning to the multitude following him, said I tell you, Not even in Israel, such faith as this, have I found!

10. ശതാധിപന് പറഞ്ഞയച്ചിരുന്നവര് വീട്ടില് മടങ്ങി വന്നപ്പോള് ദാസനെ സൌഖ്യത്തോടെ കണ്ടു.

10. And they who were sent, returning unto the house, found the servant, well.

11. പിറ്റെന്നാള് അവന് നയിന് എന്ന പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു പോകുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരും വളരെ പുരുഷാരവും കൂടെ പോയി.

11. And it came to pass thereafter, that he journeyed unto a city called Nain, and there were journeying with him, his disciples and a great multitude.

12. അവന് പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ വാതിലോടു അടുത്തപ്പോള് മരിച്ചുപോയ ഒരുത്തനെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു; അവന് അമ്മകൂ ഏകജാതനായ മകന് ; അവളോ വിധവ ആയിരുന്നു. പട്ടണത്തിലെ ഒരു വലിയ പുരുഷാരവും അവളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

12. Now, as he drew near unto the gate of the city, then lo! there was being brought forth, one dead, the only-begotten son of his mother, and, she, was a widow; and, a considerable multitude of the city, was with her.

13. അവളെ കണ്ടിട്ടു കര്ത്താവു മനസ്സലിഞ്ഞു അവളോടുകരയേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് അടുത്തു ചെന്നു മഞ്ചം തൊട്ടു ചുമക്കുന്നവര് നിന്നു.

13. And, beholding her, the Lord, was moved with compassion over her, and said to her Be not weeping!

14. ബാല്യക്കാരാ എഴുന്നേല്ക്ക എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

14. And, going forward, he touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still; and he said Young man! to thee, I say, Arise!

15. മരിച്ചവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഇരുന്നു സംസാരിപ്പാന് തുടങ്ങി; അവന് അവനെ അമ്മെക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

15. And the dead man sat up, and began to speak; and he gave him to his mother.

16. എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ഭയംപിടിച്ചുഒരു വലിയ പ്രവാചകന് നമ്മുടെ ഇടയില് എഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവം തന്റെ ജനത്തെ സന്ദര്ശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വീകരിച്ചു.

16. And fear seized them, all, and they began to glorify God, saying A great prophet, hath been raised up amongst us! and God hath visited his people!

17. അവനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഈ ശ്രുതി യെഹൂദ്യയില് ഒക്കെയും ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാടെങ്ങും പരന്നു.

17. And this report went forth throughout the whole of Judaea, and all the surrounding country.

18. ഇതു ഒക്കെയും യോഹന്നാന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

18. And John's disciples carried tidings unto him concerning all these things.

19. എന്നാറെ യോഹന്നാന് തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരില് രണ്ടുപേരെ വിളിച്ചു, കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചുവരുവാനുള്ളവന് നീയോ? അല്ല, ഞങ്ങള് മറ്റൊരുത്തനെ കാത്തിരിക്കേണമോ എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

19. And, calling unto him certain two of his disciples, John sent unto the Lord, saying Art, thou, the Coming One, or, a different one, are we to expect?

20. ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുവരുവാനുള്ളവന് നീയോ? അല്ല, ഞങ്ങള് മറ്റൊരുത്തനെ കാത്തിരിക്കേണമോ എന്നു ചോദിപ്പാന് യോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന് ഞങ്ങളെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. And, coming near unto him, the men said John the Immerser, hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art, thou, the Coming One, or, another, are we to expect?

21. ആ നാഴികയില് അവന് വ്യാധികളും ദണ്ഡങ്ങളും ദുരാത്മാക്കളും പിടിച്ച പലരെയും സൌഖ്യമാക്കുകയും പല കുരുടന്മാര്ക്കും കാഴ്ച നലകുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടു അവരോടു

21. In that very hour, he cured many from diseases, and plagues, and wicked spirits; and, unto many blind, gave he the favour to see.

22. കുരുടര് കാണുന്നു; മുടന്തര് നടക്കുന്നു; കുഷ്ഠരോഗികള് ശുദ്ധരായിത്തീരുന്നു; ചെകിടര് കേള്ക്കുന്നു; മരിച്ചവര് ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേലക്കുന്നു; ദിരദ്രന്മാരോടു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്നു എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് കാണുകയും കേള്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു യോഹന്നാനെ ചെന്നു അറിയിപ്പിന് .

22. And, answering, he said unto them Go and bear tidings unto John, as to what ye have seen and heard: The blind, are receiving sight, the lame, walk, lepers, are cleansed, and, the deaf, hear, the dead, are raised, the destitute, are told the glad-message;

23. എന്നാല് എങ്കല് ഇടറിപ്പോകാത്തവന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

23. And, happy, is he, whosoever shall not find occasion of stumbling in me!

24. യോഹന്നാന്റെ ദൂതന്മാര് പോയശേഷം അവന് പുരുഷാരത്തോടു യോഹന്നാനെക്കുറിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങിയതുനിങ്ങള് എന്തു കാണ്മാന് മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പോയി? കാറ്റിനാല് ഉലയുന്ന ഔടയോ?

24. And, the messengers of John having departed, he began to say unto the multitudes, concerning John What went ye forth into the desert to gaze at? A reed, by a wind, shaken?

25. അല്ല, എന്തു കാണ്മാന് പോയി? മാര്ദ്ദവവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ച മനുഷ്യനെയോ? മോടിയുള്ള വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു സുഖഭോഗികളായി നടക്കുന്നവര് രാജധാനികളില് അത്രേ.

25. But what went ye forth to see? A man, in soft garments, arrayed? Lo! they who in splendid apparel and luxury are found, are, in the kingly courts.

26. അല്ല, എന്തു കാണ്മാന് പോയി? ഒരു പ്രവാചകനെയൊ? അതേ, പ്രവാചകനിലും മികച്ചവനെ തന്നേ എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു

26. But what went ye forth to see? A prophet? Yea! I say unto you, and abundantly more than a prophet.

27. “ഞാന് എന്റെ ദൂതനെ നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി അയയക്കുന്നു; അവന് നിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിനക്കു വഴി ഒരുക്കും” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു അവനെക്കുറിച്ചാകുന്നു.

27. This, is he concerning whom it is written Lo! I am sending forth my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.

28. സ്ത്രീകളില് നിന്നു ജനിച്ചവരില് യോഹന്നാനെക്കാള് വലിയവന് ആരുമില്ല; ദൈവരാജ്യത്തില് ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയവനോ അവനിലും വലിയവന് എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.--

28. I say unto you A greater, among them that are born of women, than John, is there none; but, he that is least in the kingdom of God, is greater than he.

29. എന്നാല് ജനം ഒക്കെയും ചുങ്കക്കാരും കേട്ടിട്ടു യോഹന്നാന്റെ സ്നാനം ഏറ്റതിനാല് ദൈവത്തെ നീതീകരിച്ചു.

29. And, all the people, when they heard, and the tax-collectors, justified God, having been immersed with the immersion of John;

30. എങ്കിലും പരീശന്മാരും ന്യായശാസ്ത്രിമാരും അവനാല് സ്നാനം ഏല്ക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലോചന തങ്ങള്ക്കു വൃഥാവാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു. -

30. but, the Pharisees and the lawyers, had set aside, the counsel of God against themselves, not being immersed by him.

31. ഈ തലമുറയിലെ മനുഷ്യരെ ഏതിനോടു ഉപമിക്കേണ്ടു? അവര് ഏതിനോടു തുല്യം?

31. Unto what, then, shall I liken the men of this generation? And unto what are they like?

32. ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങള്ക്കായി കുഴലൂതി, നിങ്ങള് നൃത്തം ചെയ്തില്ല; ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങള്ക്കായി വിലാപം പാടി, നിങ്ങള് കരഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു ചന്തസ്ഥലത്തു ഇരുന്നു അന്യോന്യം വിളിച്ചു പറയുന്ന കുട്ടികളോടു അവര് തുല്യര്.

32. They are like unto the children sitting, in a market-place, and calling one to another, who say We played the flute for you, and ye danced not, We wailed, and ye wept not.

33. യോഹന്നാന് സ്നാപകന് അപ്പം തിന്നാതെയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കാതെയും വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു ഭൂതം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നു.

33. For John the Immerser hath come, neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and ye say A demon, he hath:

34. മനുഷ്യപുത്രന് തിന്നും കുടിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; തിന്നിയും കുടിയനും ആയ മനുഷ്യന് ചുങ്കക്കാരുടെയും പാപികളുടെയും സ്നേഹിതന് എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നു.

34. The Son of Man hath come, eating and drinking, and ye say Lo! a man, gluttonous and a wine-drinker, a friend of tax-collectors and sinners.

35. ജ്ഞാനമോ തന്റെ എല്ലാ മക്കളാലും നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

35. And yet wisdom hath been justified by all her children.

36. പരീശന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തന് തന്നോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പാന് അവനെ ക്ഷണിച്ചു; അവന് പരീശന്റെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നിരുന്നു.

36. And a certain one of the Pharisees was requesting him, that he would eat with him; and, entering into the house of the Pharisee, he reclined.

37. ആ പട്ടണത്തില് പാപിയായ ഒരു സ്ത്രീ, അവന് പരീശന്റെ വീട്ടില് ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു അറിഞ്ഞു ഒരു വെണ്കല്ഭരണി പരിമളതൈലം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു,

37. And, 1o! a woman, who indeed was in the city a sinner; and, when she found out that he was reclining in the house of the Pharisee, providing an alabaster-jar of perfume,

38. പുറകില് അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു നിന്നു കണ്ണിനീര്കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കാല് നനെച്ചുതുടങ്ങി; തലമുടികൊണ്ടു തുടെച്ചു കാല് ചുംബിച്ചു തൈലം പൂശി.

38. and standing behind, near his feet, weeping, with the tears, began she to be wetting his feet, and, with the hair of her head, was wiping off the tears , and was tenderly kissing his feet, and anointing them with the perfume.

39. അവനെ ക്ഷണിച്ച പരീശന് അതു കണ്ടിട്ടുഇവന് പ്രവാചകന് ആയിരുന്നു എങ്കില്, തന്നെ തൊടുന്ന സ്ത്രീ ആരെന്നും എങ്ങനെയുള്ളവള് എന്നും അറിയുമായിരുന്നു; അവള് പാപിയല്ലോ എന്നു ഉള്ളില് പറഞ്ഞു

39. But the Pharisee who had invited him, seeing it, spake within himself, saying, This one, if he were the prophet, would have been taking note, who and of what sort, is the woman, who is even touching him, that she is, a sinner.

40. ശിമോനേ, നിന്നോടു ഒന്നു പറവാനുണ്ടു എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഗുരോ, പറഞ്ഞാലും എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

40. And, making answer, Jesus said unto him Simon! I have, unto thee, something to say. He, then Teacher, speak! saith he.

41. കടം കൊടുക്കുന്ന ഒരുത്തന്നു രണ്ടു കടക്കാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഒരുത്തന് അഞ്ഞൂറു വെള്ളിക്കാശും മറ്റവന് അമ്പതു വെള്ളിക്കാശും കൊടുപ്പാനുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

41. Two debtors, there were, to a certain creditor, the one, owed five hundred denaries, and, the other, fifty.

42. വീട്ടുവാന് അവര്ക്കും വക ഇല്ലായ്കയാല് അവന് ഇരുവര്ക്കും ഇളെച്ചുകൊടുത്തു; എന്നാല് അവരില് ആര് അവനെ അധികം സ്നേഹിക്കും?

42. they not having wherewith to pay, he forgave, both. Which of them, therefore, will love him, more?

43. അധികം ഇളെചചുകിട്ടിയവന് എന്നു ഞാന് ഊഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ശിമോന് പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവനോടുനീ വിധിച്ചതു ശരി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സ്ത്രിയുടെ നേരെ തരിഞ്ഞു ശിമോനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഈ സ്ത്രീയെ കാണുന്നുവോ? ഞാന് നിന്റെ വീട്ടില് വന്നു, നീ എന്റെ കാലിന്നു വെള്ളം തന്നില്ല; ഇവളോ കണ്ണുനീര്കൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കാല് നനെച്ചു തലമുടികൊണ്ടു തുടെച്ചു.

43. Making answer, Simon said I suppose, that he to whom, the more, he forgave. And, he, said unto him Rightly, hast thou judged.

44. നീ എനിക്കു ചുംബനം തന്നില്ല; ഇവളോ ഞാന് അകത്തു വന്നതു മുതല് ഇടവിടാതെ എന്റെ കാല് ചുംബിച്ചു.

44. And, turning towards the woman, unto Simon, he said Seest thou this woman? I entered into thy house: water to me, on my feet, thou didst not give, but, she, with her tears, hath wetted my feet, and, with her hair, wiped off the tears .

45. നീ എന്റെ തലയില് തൈലം പൂശിയില്ല; ഇവളോ പരിമള തൈലംകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കാല് പൂശി.

45. A kiss, to me, thou didst not give, but, she, from the time I came in, hath not ceased tenderly kissing my feet.

46. ആകയാല് ഇവളുടെ അനേകമായ പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു; അവള് വളരെ സ്നേഹിച്ചുവല്ലോ; അല്പം മോചിച്ചുകിട്ടിയവന് അല്പം സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു.

46. With oil, my head, thou didst not anoint, but, she, with perfume, hath anointed, my feet.

47. പിന്നെ അവന് അവളോടുനിന്റെ പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചു തിന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

47. For which cause, I say unto thee Her many sins, have been forgiven, because she hath loved, much: but, he to whom little is forgiven, little, loveth.

48. അവനോടു കൂടെ പന്തിയില് ഇരുന്നവര്പാപമോചനവും കൊടുക്കുന്ന ഇവന് ആര് എന്നു തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി.

48. And he said unto her Thy sins have been forgiven.

49. അവനോ സ്ത്രീയോടുനിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം നിന്നെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

49. And they who were reclining together, began to be saying within themselves Who is, this, that, even forgiveth sins?
