1. അവര് അംഫിപൊലിസിലും അപ്പൊലോന്യയിലും കൂടി കടന്നു നെസ്സലൊനീക്കയില് എത്തി; അവിടെ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഒരു പള്ളി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

1. Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:

2. പൌലൊസ് പതിവു പോലെ അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു മൂന്നു ശബ്ബത്തില് തിരുവെഴുത്തുകളെ ആധാരമാക്കി അവരോടു വാദിച്ചു.

2. And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

3. ക്രിസ്തു കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിക്കയും മരിച്ചവരില് നിന്നു ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേലക്കുയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതു എന്നും ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കുന്ന ഈ യേശുതന്നേ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു തെളിയിച്ചു വിവരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

3. Opening and alleging, that the Messiah must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Yahushua, whom I preach unto you, is the Messiah.

4. അവരില് ചിലരും ഭക്തിയുള്ള യവനന്മാരില് ഒരു വലിയ കൂട്ടവും മാന്യസ്ത്രീകളില് അനേകരും വിശ്വസിച്ചു പൌലൊസിനോടും ശീലാസിനോടും ചേര്ന്നു.

4. And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

5. യെഹൂദന്മാരോ അസൂയപൂണ്ടു, മിനക്കെട്ടുനടക്കുന്ന ചില ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ ചേര്ത്തു പുരുഷാരത്തെ ഇളക്കി പട്ടണത്തില് കലഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കി യാസോന്റെ വീടു വളഞ്ഞു അവരെ ജനസമൂഹത്തില് കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് ശ്രമിച്ചു.

5. But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

6. അവരെ കാണാഞ്ഞിട്ടു യാസോനെയും ചില സഹോദരന്മാരെയും നഗരാധിപന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു ഇഴെച്ചുകൊണ്ടുഭൂലോകത്തെ കലഹിപ്പിച്ചവര് ഇവിടെയും എത്തി;

6. And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

7. യാസോന് അവരെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടും ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് ഒക്കെയും യേശു എന്ന മറ്റൊരുവന് രാജാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു കൈസരുടെ നിയമങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രതിക്കുലമായി പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

7. Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Yahushua.

8. ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു പുരുഷാരവും നഗരാധിപന്മാരും ഭ്രമിച്ചു.

8. And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

9. യാസോന് മുതലായവരോടു ജാമ്യം വാങ്ങി അവരെ വിട്ടയച്ചു.

9. And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.

10. സഹോദരന്മാര് ഉടനെ, രാത്രിയില് തന്നേ, പൌലൊസിനെയും ശീലാസിനെയും ബെരോവേക്കു പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു. അവിടെ എത്തിയാറെ അവര് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ പള്ളിയില് പോയി.

10. And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11. അവര് തെസ്സലോനീക്കയിലുള്ളവരെക്കാള് ഉത്തമന്മാരായിരുന്നു. അവര് വചനം പൂര്ണ്ണജാഗ്രതയോടെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടതല്ലാതെ അതു അങ്ങനെ തന്നെയോ എന്നു ദിനംപ്രതി തിരുവെഴുത്തുകളെ പരിശോധിച്ചു പോന്നു.

11. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

12. അവരില് പലരും മാന്യരായ യവനസ്ത്രീകളിലും പുരുഷന്മാരിലും അനേകരും വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

12. Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

13. പൌലൊസ് ബെരോവയിലും ദൈവവചനം അറിയച്ചതു തെസ്സലൊനീക്കയിലെ യെഹൂദന്മാര് അറിഞ്ഞു അവിടെയും വന്നു പുരുഷാരത്തെ ഇളക്കി ഭ്രമിപ്പിച്ചു.

13. But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of YHWH was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

14. ഉടനെ സഹോദരന്മാര് പൌലൊസിനെ സമുദ്രതീരത്തേക്കു പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു; ശീലാസും തിമൊഥെയോസും അവിടെത്തന്നേ പാര്ത്തു.

14. And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

15. പൌലൊസിനോടുകൂടെ വഴിത്തുണ പോയവര് അവനെ അഥേനയോളം കൊണ്ടുപോയി; ശീലാസും തിമൊഥെയോസും കഴിയുന്ന വേഗത്തില് തന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരേണം എന്നുള്ള കല്പന വാങ്ങി മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.

15. And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed.

16. അഥേനയില് പൌലൊസ് അവര്ക്കായി കാത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് നഗരത്തില് ബിംബങ്ങള് നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു മനസ്സിന്നു ചൂടുപിടിച്ചു.

16. Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.

17. അവന് പള്ളിയില്വെച്ചു യെഹൂദന്മാരോടും ദൈവഭക്തന്മാരോടും ചന്ത സ്ഥലത്തു ദിവസേന കണ്ടവരോടും സംഭാഷിച്ചുപോന്നു.

17. Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

18. എപ്പിക്കൂര്യ്യരും സ്തോയിക്കരും ആയ തത്വജ്ഞാനികളില് ചിലര് അവനോടു വാദിച്ചുഈ വിടുവായന് എന്തു പറവാന് പോകുന്നു എന്നു ചിലരും അവന് യേശുവിനെയും പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തെയും പ്രസംഗിക്ക കൊണ്ടുഇവന് അന്യദേവതകളെ ഘോഷിക്കുന്നവന് എന്നു തോന്നുന്നു മറ്റു ചിലരും പറഞ്ഞു

18. Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange mighty ones: because he preached unto them Yahushua, and the resurrection.

19. പിന്നെ അവനെ പിടിച്ചു അരയോപഗക്കുന്നിന്മേല് കൊണ്ടുചെന്നുനീ പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്ന ഈ നവീനോപദേശം ഇന്നതു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അറിയാമോ?

19. And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?

20. നീ ചില അപൂര്വങ്ങളെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ചെവിയില് കടത്തുന്നുവല്ലോ; അതു എന്തു എന്നു അറിവാന് ഞങ്ങള് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

21. എന്നാല് അഥേനര് ഒക്കെയും അവിടെ വന്നു പാര്ക്കുംന്ന പരദേശികളും വല്ല പുതുമയും പറകയോ കേള്ക്കയോ ചെയ്വാനല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നിന്നും അവസരമുള്ളവരല്ല.

21. (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)

22. പൌലൊസ് അരയോപഗമദ്ധ്യേ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞതു. അഥേനപുരുഷന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങള് എല്ലാറ്റിലും അതിഭക്തന്മാര് എന്നു ഞാന് കാണുന്നു.

22. Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

23. ഞാന് ചുറ്റിനടന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ പൂജാസ്ഥാനങ്ങളെ നോക്കുമ്പോള് “അജ്ഞാത ദേവന്നു” എന്നു എഴുത്തുള്ള ഒരു വേദിക്കല്ലു കണ്ടു; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് അറിയാതെ പൂജിക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കുന്നു.

23. For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN MIGHTY ONE. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

24. YHWH that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Ruler of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

25. കൈപ്പണിയായ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളില് വാസം ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല. താന് എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ജീവനും ശ്വാസവും സകലവും കൊടുക്കുന്നവന് ആകയാല് വല്ലതിന്നും മുട്ടുള്ളവന് എന്നപോലെ മാനുഷ്യകൈകളാല് ശുശ്രൂഷ ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നില്ല.

25. Neither is worshipped with mens hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

27. That they should seek Him, if possibly they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

28. അവനിലല്ലോ നാം ജീവിക്കയും ചരിക്കയും ഇരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നത്. അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ കവിവരന്മാരിലും ചിലര് “നാം അവന്റെ സന്താനമല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

28. For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

29. നാം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സന്താനം എന്നു വരികയാല് ദൈവം മനുഷ്യന്റെ ശില്പവിദ്യയും സങ്കല്പവുംകൊണ്ടു കൊത്തിത്തീര്ക്കുംന്ന പൊന് , വെള്ളി, കല്ലു എന്നിവയോടു സദൃശം എന്നു നിരൂപിക്കേണ്ടതല്ല.

29. Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of YHWH, we ought not to think that the Most High is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and mans device.

30. എന്നാല് അറിയായ്മയുടെ കാലങ്ങളെ ദൈവം ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കാതെ ഇപ്പോള് എല്ലായിടത്തും എല്ലാവരും മാനസാന്തരപ്പെടേണമെന്നു മനുഷ്യരോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നു.

30. And the times of this ignorance YHWH winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

31. Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

32. മരിച്ചവരുടെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിട്ടു ചിലര് പരിഹസിച്ചു; മറ്റുചിലര്ഞങ്ങള് ഇതിനെപ്പറ്റി പിന്നെയും നിന്റെ പ്രസംഗം കേള്ക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

33. അങ്ങനെ പൌലൊസ് അവരുടെ നടുവില് നിന്നു പോയി

33. So Paul departed from among them.

34. ചില പുരുഷന്മാര് അവനോടു ചേര്ന്നു വിശ്വസിച്ചു; അവരില് അരയോപഗസ്ഥാനിയായ ദിയൊനുസ്യോസും ദമരീസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു സ്ത്രീയും മറ്റു ചിലരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

34. Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
