1. അപ്പൊല്ലോസ് കൊരിന്തില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് പൌലോസ് ഉള്പ്രദേശങ്ങളില് കൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു എഫെസോസില് എത്തി ചില ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ കണ്ടു

1. While Apollos was in the city of Corinth, Paul was visiting some places on his way to Ephesus. In Ephesus he found some other followers of the Lord.

2. നിങ്ങള് വിശ്വസിച്ചിട്ടു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനെ പ്രാപിച്ചുവോ എന്നു അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുപരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ഉണ്ടന്നെുപോലും ഞങ്ങള് കേട്ടിട്ടില്ല എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

2. He asked them, 'Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?' These followers said to him, 'We have never even heard of a Holy Spirit!'

3. എന്നാല് ഏതായിരുന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്നാനം എന്നു അവന് അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുയോഹന്നാന്റെ സ്നാനം എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Paul asked them, 'So what kind of baptism did you have?' They said, 'It was the baptism that John taught.'

4. Paul said, 'John told people to be baptized to show they wanted to change their lives. He told people to believe in the one who would come after him, and that one is Jesus.'

5. When these followers heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

6. പൌലൊസ് അവരുടെ മേല് കൈവെച്ചപ്പോള് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു അവരുടെമേല് വന്നു അവര് അന്യഭാഷകളില് സംസാരിക്കയും പ്രവചിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

6. Then Paul laid his hands on them, and the Holy Spirit came on them. They began speaking different languages and prophesying.

7. ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് എല്ലാം കൂടി പന്ത്രണ്ടോളം ആയിരുന്നു.

7. There were about twelve men in this group.

8. പിന്നെ അവന് പള്ളിയില് ചെന്നു ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു സംവാദിച്ചും സമ്മതിപ്പിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു മൂന്നു മാസത്തോളം പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യത്തോടെ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

8. Paul went into the synagogue and spoke very boldly. He continued doing this for three months. He talked with the Jews, trying to persuade them to accept what he was telling them about God's kingdom.

9. But some of them became stubborn and refused to believe. In front of everyone they said bad things about the Way. So Paul left these Jews and took the Lord's followers with him. He went to a place where a man named Tyrannus had a school. There Paul talked with people every day.

10. അതു രണ്ടു സംവത്സരത്തോളം നടക്കയാല് ആസ്യയില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാരും യവനന്മാരും എല്ലാം കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വചനം കേള്പ്പാന് ഇടയായി.

10. He did this for two years. Because of this work, everyone in Asia, Jews and Greeks, heard the word of the Lord.

11. ദൈവം പൌലൊസ് മുഖാന്തരം അസാധാരണയായ വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികളെ ചെയ്യിക്കയാല്

11. God used Paul to do some very special miracles.

12. അവന്റെ മെയ്മേല്നിന്നു റൂമാലും ഉത്തരീയവും രോഗികളുടെമേല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നിടുകയും വ്യാധികള് അവരെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയും ദുരാത്മാക്കള് പുപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

12. Some people carried away handkerchiefs and clothes that Paul had used and put them on those who were sick. The sick people were healed, and evil spirits left them.

13. എന്നാല് ദേശാന്തരികളായി നടക്കുന്ന മന്ത്രവാദികളായ ചില യഹൂദന്മാര്പൌലൊസ് പ്രസംഗിക്കുന്ന യേശുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു ആണയിടുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു യേശുവിന്റെ നാമം ചൊല്ലുവാന് തുനിഞ്ഞു.

13. Some Jews also were traveling around forcing evil spirits out of people. The seven sons of Sceva were doing this. (Sceva was one of the leading priests.) These Jews tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus to make the evil spirits go out of people. They all said, 'By the same Jesus that Paul talks about, I order you to come out!'

14. ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തവര് മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ സ്കേവാ എന്ന ഒരു യേഹൂദന്റെ ഏഴു പുത്രന്മാര് ആയിരുന്നു.

15. ദുരാത്മാവു അവരോടുയേശുവിനെ ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; പൌലൊസിനെയും പരിചയമുണ്ടു; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ആര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

15. But one time an evil spirit said to these Jews, 'I know Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?'

16. പിന്നെ ദുരാത്മാവുള്ള മനുഷ്യന് അവരുടെമേല് ചാടി അവരെ ഇരുവരെയും കീഴടക്കി ജയിക്കയാല് അവര് നഗ്നരും മുറിവേറ്റവരുമായി ആ വീട്ടില്നിന്നു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

16. Then the man who had the evil spirit inside him jumped on these Jews. He was much stronger than all of them. He beat them up and tore their clothes off. They all ran away from that house.

17. ഇതു എഫേസൊസില് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന സകല യെഹൂദന്മാരും യവനന്മാരും അറിഞ്ഞു; അവര്ക്കും ഒക്കെയും ഭയം തട്ടി, കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ നാമം മഹിമപ്പെട്ടു

17. All the people in Ephesus, Jews and Greeks, learned about this. They were all filled with fear and gave great honor to the Lord Jesus.

18. വിശ്വസിച്ചവരില് അനേകരും വന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവര്ത്തികളെ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞു അറിയിച്ചു.

18. Many of the believers began to confess, telling about all the evil things they had done.

19. ക്ഷുദ്രപ്രയോഗം ചെയ്തിരുന്ന പലരും തങ്ങളുടെ പുസ്തകങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു എല്ലാവരും കാണ്കെ ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; അവയുടെ വില കണകൂ കൂട്ടിയാറെ അമ്പതിനായിരം വെള്ളിക്കാശു എന്നു കണ്ടു.

19. Some of them had used magic. These believers brought their magic books and burned them before everyone. These books were worth about 50,000 silver coins.

20. ഇങ്ങനെ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വചനം ശക്തിയോടെ പരന്നു പ്രബലപ്പെട്ടു.

20. This is how the word of the Lord was spreading in a powerful way, causing more and more people to believe.

21. ഇതു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു പൌലൊസ് മക്കെദോന്യയിലും അഖായയിലും കൂടി കടന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കും പോകേണം എന്നു മനസ്സില് നിശ്ചയിച്ചുഞാന് അവിടെ ചെന്നശേഷം റോമയും കാണേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. After this, Paul made plans to go to Jerusalem. He planned to go through the regions of Macedonia and Achaia, and then go to Jerusalem. He thought, 'After I visit Jerusalem, I must also visit Rome.'

22. തനിക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്യുന്നവരില് തിമൊഥെയൊസ്, എരസ്തൊസ് എന്ന രണ്ടുപേരെ മക്കെദോന്യയിലേക്കു അയച്ചിട്ടു താന് കുറെക്കാലം ആസ്യയില് താമസിച്ചു.

22. Timothy and Erastus were two of his helpers. Paul sent them ahead to Macedonia. But he stayed in Asia for a while.

23. ആ കാലത്തു ഈ മാര്ഗ്ഗത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി വലിയ കലഹം ഉണ്ടായി.

23. But during that time there was some trouble in Ephesus about the Way. This is how it all happened:

24. വെള്ളികൊണ്ടു അര്ത്തെമിസ് ദേവിയുടെ ക്ഷേത്രരൂപങ്ങളെ തീര്ക്കുംന്ന ദെമേത്രിയൊസ് എന്ന തട്ടാന് തൊഴില്ക്കാര്ക്കും വളരെ ലാഭം വരുത്തി വന്നു.

24. There was a man named Demetrius. He worked with silver. He made little silver models that looked like the temple of the goddess Artemis. The men who did this work made a lot of money.

25. അവന് അവരെയും ആ വകയില് ഉള്പ്പെട്ട വേലക്കാരെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തിപുരുഷന്മാരേ, നമ്മുടെ സമ്പാദ്യം ഈ തൊഴില്കൊണ്ടു ആകുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ബോദ്ധ്യമല്ലോ.

25. Demetrius had a meeting with these men and some others who did the same kind of work. He told them, 'Men, you know that we make a lot of money from our business.

26. എന്നാല് ഈ പൌലൊസ് എന്നവന് കയ്യാല് തീര്ത്തതു ദേവന്മാര് അല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു എഫെസൊസില് മാത്രമല്ല, മിക്കവാറും ആസ്യയില് ഒക്കെയും വളരെ ജനങ്ങളെ സമ്മതിപ്പിച്ചു മറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് കണ്ടും കേട്ടും ഇരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

26. But look at what this man Paul is doing. Listen to what he is saying. He has convinced many people in Ephesus and all over Asia to change their religion. He says the gods that people make by hand are not real.

27. അതിനാല് നമ്മുടെ ഈ കാര്യം ആക്ഷേപത്തില് ആകുവാന് അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതുമല്ലാതെ അര്ത്തെമിസ് മഹാദേവിുടെ ക്ഷേത്രം ഏതുമില്ല എന്നു വരികയും ആസ്യമുഴുവനും ഭൂതലവും ഭജിച്ചുപോരുന്നവളുടെ മാഹാത്മ്യം ഒടുങ്ങിപ്പോകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. I'm afraid this is going to turn people against our business. But there is also another problem. People will begin to think that the temple of the great goddess Artemis is not important. Her greatness will be destroyed. And Artemis is the goddess that everyone in Asia and the whole world worships.'

28. അവര് ഇതു കേട്ടു ക്രോധം നിറഞ്ഞവരായിഎഫെസ്യരുടെ അര്ത്തെമിസ് മഹാദേവി എന്നു ആര്ത്തു.

28. When the men heard this, they became very angry. They shouted, 'Great is Artemis, the goddess of Ephesus!'

29. പട്ടണം മുഴുവനും കലഹം കൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞു, അവര് പൌലൊസിന്റെ കൂട്ടുയാത്രക്കാരായ ഗായൊസ് അരിസ്തര്ഹോസ് എന്ന മക്കെദോന്യരെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു രംഗസ്ഥലത്തേക്കു ഒരുമനപ്പെട്ടു പാഞ്ഞു ചെന്നു.

29. The whole city was thrown into confusion. The people grabbed Gaius and Aristarchus, men from Macedonia who were traveling with Paul, and rushed all together into the stadium.

30. പൌലൊസ് ജനസമൂഹത്തില് ചെല്ലുവാന് ഭാവിച്ചാറെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനെ വിട്ടില്ല.

30. Paul wanted to go in and talk to the people, but the Lord's followers did not let him go.

31. ആസ്യധിപന്മാരില് ചിലര് അവന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന്മാര് ആകയാല്രംഗസ്ഥലത്തു ചെന്നു പോകരുത് എന്നു അവരും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

31. Also, some leaders of the country who were friends of Paul sent him a message telling him not to go into the stadium.

32. ജനസംഘം കലക്കത്തിലായി മിക്കപേരും തങ്ങള് വന്നുകൂടിയ സംഗതി എന്തെന്നു അറിയായ്കയാല് ചിലര് ഇങ്ങനെയും ചിലര് അങ്ങനെയും ആര്ത്തു.

32. Some people were shouting one thing and others were shouting something else. The meeting was very confused. Most of the people did not know why they had come there.

33. യെഹൂദന്മാര് മുമ്പോട്ടു ഉന്തിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്ന അലക്സന്തരിനെ പുരുഷാരത്തില് ചിലര് സംസാരിപ്പാന് ഉത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ചു; അലക്സാന്തര് ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടി ജനസമൂഹത്തോടു പ്രതിവാദിപ്പാന് ഭാവിച്ചു.

33. Some Jews made a man named Alexander stand before the crowd, and they told him what to say. Alexander waved his hand, trying to explain things to the people.

34. എന്നാല് അവന് യെഹൂദന് എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള്എഫെസ്യരുടെ അര്ത്തെമിസ് മഹാദേവി എന്നു എല്ലാവരും കൂടി രണ്ടു മണിനേരത്തോളം ഏകശബ്ദത്തോടെ ആര്ത്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

34. But when the people saw that Alexander was a Jew, they all began shouting the same thing. For two hours they continued shouting, 'Great is Artemis of Ephesus! Great is Artemis of Ephesus! Great is Artemis �!'

35. പിന്നെ പട്ടണമേനവന് പുരുഷാരത്തെ അമര്ത്തി പറഞ്ഞതുഎഫെസ്യപുരുഷന്മാരേ, എഫെസോസ് പട്ടണം അര്ത്തെമിസ് മഹാദേവിക്കും ദ്യോവില്നിന്നു വീണ ബിംബത്തിന്നും ക്ഷേത്രപലക എന്നു അറിയാത്ത മനുഷ്യന് ആര്?

35. Then the city clerk persuaded the people to be quiet. He said, 'Men of Ephesus, everyone knows that Ephesus is the city that keeps the temple of the great goddess Artemis. Everyone knows that we also keep her holy rock.

36. ഇതു എതിര്മൊഴിയില്ലാത്തതാകയാല് നിങ്ങള് തിടുക്കമായി ഒന്നും ചെയ്യാതെ അടങ്ങിപ്പാര്ക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

36. No one can deny this, so you should be quiet. You must stop and think before you do anything else.

37. ഈ പുരുഷന്മാരെ നിങ്ങള് കൂട്ടികൊണ്ടുവന്നുവല്ലോ; അവര് ക്ഷേത്രം കവര്ച്ച ചെയ്യുന്നവരല്ല, നമ്മുടെ ദേവിയെ ദുഷിക്കുന്നവരുമല്ല.

37. You brought these men here, but they have not said anything bad against our goddess. They have not stolen anything from her temple.

39. വേറെ കാര്യം ചൊല്ലി ആകുന്നു വാദം എങ്കില് ധര്മ്മസഭയില തീര്ക്കാമല്ലോ.

39. Is there something else you want to talk about? Then come to the regular town meeting of the people. It can be decided there.

40. ഇന്നത്തെ കലഹത്തിന്നു കാരണമില്ലായ്കയാല് അതു നിമിത്തം നമ്മുടെ പേരില് കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുവാന് ഇടയുണ്ടു സ്പഷ്ടം; ഈ ആള്ക്കൂട്ടത്തിന്നു ഉത്തരം പറവാന് നമുക്കു വക ഒന്നുമില്ലല്ലോ.

40. I say this because someone might see this trouble today and say we are rioting. We could not explain all this trouble, because there is no real reason for this meeting.'

41. ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു അവന് സഭയയെ പിരിച്ചുവിട്ടു.

41. After the city clerk said this, he told the people to go home.
