1. And when it was determined that we should sail to Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners to one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' cohort.

2. And boarding a ship of Adramyttium, which was about to sail alongside Asian places, we set sail, Aristarchus, a Macedonian from Thessalonica, being with us.

3. പിറ്റെന്നു ഞങ്ങള് സീദോനില് എത്തി; യൂലിയൊസ് പൌലൊസിനോടു ദയ കാണിച്ചു, സ്നേഹിതന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പോയി സല്ക്കാരം കൈക്കൊള്വാന് അനുവദിച്ചു.

3. And on the next day we were landed at Sidon. And Julius treated Paul courteously and gave him liberty to go to his friends to receive care.

4. അവിടെ നിന്നു ഞങ്ങള് നീക്കി, കാറ്റു പ്രതിക്കുലമാകയാല് കുപ്രൊസ് ദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ഔടി;

4. And setting sail from there, we sailed close to Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

5. And sailing over the sea against Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra of Lycia.

6. അവിടെ ശതാധിപന് ഇതല്യെക്കു പോകുന്ന ഒരു അലെക്സന്ത്രിയക്കപ്പല് കണ്ടു ഞങ്ങളെ അതില് കയറ്റി.

6. And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing to Italy, and he put us on it.

7. പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങള് ബഹുദിവസം പതുക്കെ ഔടി, ക്നീദൊസ് തൂക്കില് പ്രയാസത്തോടെ എത്തി, കാറ്റു സമ്മതിക്കായ്കയാല് ക്രേത്തദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ശല്മോനെക്കു നേരെ ഔടി,

7. And sailing slowly many days and with difficulty, coming abreast of Cnidus; the wind not allowing us; we sailed close to Crete, across from Salmone.

8. കരപറ്റി പ്രായസത്തോടെ ലസയ്യപട്ടണത്തിന്റെ സമീപത്തു ശുഭതുറമുഖം എന്നു പേരുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തി.

8. And coasting along with difficulty, we came to a place named Fair Havens, near which was a city, Lasea.

9. And much time having been used up, and the voyage already being dangerous, because the Fast was now already past, Paul warned them,

10. പുരുഷന്മാരേ, ഈ യാത്രയില് ചരക്കിന്നും കപ്പലിന്നും മാത്രമല്ല നമ്മുടെ പ്രാണങ്ങള്ക്കും ഏറിയ കഷ്ടനഷ്ടങ്ങള് വരും എന്നു ഞാന് കാണുന്നു എന്നു അവരെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

10. saying, Men, I perceive that this voyage is about to be with much harm and loss, and not only much cargo and of the ship, but also of our souls.

11. ശതാധിപനോ പൌലൊസ് പറഞ്ഞതിനെക്കാള് മാലുമിയുടെയും കപ്പലുടമസ്ഥന്റെയും വാക്കു അധികം വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

11. But the centurion was rather persuaded by the helmsman and the shipmaster, than by the things spoken by Paul.

12. ആ തുറമുഖം ശീതകാലം കഴിപ്പാന് തക്കതല്ലായ്കയാല് അവിടെ നിന്നു നീക്കി തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായും വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായും തുറന്നു കിടക്കുന്ന ഫൊയ്നീക്യ എന്ന ക്രേത്തതുറമുഖത്തു കഴിവുണ്ടെങ്കില് ചെന്നു ശീതകാലം കഴിക്കേണം എന്നു മിക്കപേരും ആലോചന പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And the port not being fit to winter in, the most of them advised to set sail from there, if by any means they might be able to get to Phoenix to winter; which is a port of Crete, looking toward the southwest and northwest.

13. തെക്കന് കാറ്റു മന്ദമായി ഊതുകയാല് താല്പര്യം സാധിച്ചു എന്നു തോന്നി, അവര് അവിടെ നിന്നു നങ്കൂരം എടുത്തു ക്രേത്ത ദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ഔടി.

13. And a south wind blowing softly, thinking to have obtained their purpose, lifting anchor, they sailed along close beside Crete.

14. കുറെ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അതിന്നു വിരോധമായി ഈശാനമൂലന് എന്ന കൊടങ്കാറ്റു അടിച്ചു.

14. But not long after, a stormy wind called Euroclydon beat down on it.

15. കപ്പല് കാറ്റിന്റെ നേരെ നില്പാന് കഴിയാതവണ്ണം കുടുങ്ങുകയാല് ഞങ്ങള് കൈവിട്ടു അങ്ങനെ പാറിപ്പോയി.

15. And the ship being seized, and not being able to beat against the wind, giving way we were borne along.

16. ക്ളൌദ എന്ന ചെറിയ ദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ഔടീട്ടു പ്രയാസത്തോടെ തോണി കൈവശമാക്കി.

16. And running under an islet being called Clauda, we hardly were able to become masters of the boat;

17. അതു വലിച്ചുകയറ്റീട്ടു അവര് കപ്പല് ചുറ്റിക്കെട്ടിയും മറ്റും ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തി; പിന്നെ മണത്തിട്ടമേല് അകപ്പെടും എന്നു പേടിച്ചു പായി ഇറക്കി അങ്ങനെ പാറിപ്പോയി.

17. which taking, they used helps, undergirding the ship. And fearing lest they should fall into the sandbanks of Syrtis, lowering the tackle, so they were borne along.

18. ഞങ്ങള് കൊടുങ്കാറ്റിനാല് അത്യന്തം അലയുകകൊണ്ടു പിറ്റെന്നു അവര് ചരകൂ പുറത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.

18. And being exceedingly storm-tossed with a tempest, they made a casting on the next day;

19. മൂന്നാം നാള് അവര് സ്വന്തകയ്യാല് കപ്പല്കോപ്പും കടലില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

19. And on the third day we threw out the ship's tackle with our hands.

20. വളരെ നാളായിട്ടു സൂര്യനെയോ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെയോ കാണാതെയും വല്ലാത്ത കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു അടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടും ഇരിക്കയാല് ഞങ്ങള് രക്ഷപ്പെടും എന്നുള്ള ആശ ഒക്കെയും അറ്റുപോയി.

20. And neither sun nor stars appearing in many days, and no small tempest pressing hard, now all hope that we would be saved was taken away.

21. അവര് വളരെ പട്ടിണി കിടന്നശേഷം പൌലോസ് അവരുടെ നടുവില് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞതുപുരുഷന്മാരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചു ക്രേത്തയില്നിന്നു നീക്കാതെയും ഈ കഷ്ട നഷ്ടങ്ങള് സമ്പാദിക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതായിരുന്നു.

21. But there being much fasting, then standing up in their midst, Paul said, O men, being obedient to me you ought not to have set sail from Crete, and to have come by this harm and loss.

22. എങ്കിലും ഇപ്പോള് ധൈര്യത്തോടിരിപ്പാന് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; കപ്പലിന്നു അല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങളില് ആരുടെയും പ്രാണന്നു ഹാനി വരികയില്ല.

22. And now I exhort you to be of good cheer, for there will be no casting away of life among you, only of the ship.

23. എന്റെ ഉടയവനും ഞാന് സേവിച്ചുവരുന്നവനുമായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതന് ഈ രാത്രിയില് എന്റെ അടുക്കല്നിന്നു

23. For tonight an angel of God stood beside me, whose I am and whom I serve,

24. പൌലൊസേ, ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; നീ കൈസരുടെ മുമ്പില് നില്ക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; നിന്നോടുകൂടെ യാത്രചെയ്യുന്നവരെ ഒക്കെയും ദൈവം നിനക്കു ദാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. saying, Fear not, Paul! You must stand before Caesar. And behold! God has given you all those who sail with you.

25. അതുകൊണ്ടു പുരുഷന്മാരേ, ധൈര്യത്തോടിരിപ്പിന് ; എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു പോലെ തന്നേ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് ദൈവത്തെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.

25. Therefore, men, be of good cheer, for I believe God, that it will be so, according to the way it was told me.

26. എങ്കിലും നാം ഒരു ദ്വീപിന്മേല് മുട്ടി വീഴേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

26. But we must fall on a certain island.

27. പതിന്നാലാം രാത്രിയായപ്പോള് ഞങ്ങള് അദ്രിയക്കടലില് അലയുന്നേരം അര്ദ്ധരാത്രിയില് ഒരു കരെക്കു സമീപിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കപ്പല്ക്കാര്ക്കും തോന്നി.

27. But when the fourteenth night came, we being carried about in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors thought that they drew near some country.

28. അവര് ഈയം ഇട്ടു ഇരുപതു മാറെന്നു കണ്ടു കുറയ അപ്പുറം പോയിട്ടു വീണ്ടും ഈയം ഇട്ടു പതിനഞ്ചു മറ്റൊന്നു കണ്ടു.

28. And sounding they found it twenty fathoms; and moving a little further, and sounding again, they found it fifteen fathoms.

29. പാറ സ്ഥലങ്ങളില് അകപ്പെടും എന്നു പേടിച്ചു അവര് അമരത്തു നിന്നു നാലു നങ്കൂരം ഇട്ടു, നേരം വെളുപ്പാന് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

29. And fearing that we would fall on rocks, and casting four anchors out of the stern, they wished day to come.

30. എന്നാല് കപ്പല്ക്കാര് കപ്പല് വിട്ടു ഔടിപ്പോകുവാന് വിചാരിച്ചു അണിയത്തുനിന്നു നങ്കൂരം ഇടുവാന് പോകുന്നു എന്നുള്ള ഭാവത്തില് തോണി കടലില് ഇറക്കി.

30. But the sailors seeking to flee out of the ship, and lowering the boat into the sea, pretending to be about to cast out anchors from the prow,

31. അപ്പോള് പൌലൊസ് ശതാധിപനോടും പടയാളികളോടുംഇവര് കപ്പലില് താമസിച്ചല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു രക്ഷപ്പെടുവാന് കഴിയുന്നതല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Unless these remain in the ship, you cannot be saved.

32. പടയാളികള് തോണിയുടെ കയറു അറുത്തു അതു വീഴിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

32. Then the soldiers cut the ropes of the boat, and let her fall.

33. നേരം വെളുക്കാറായപ്പോള് പൌലൊസ് എല്ലാവരോടും ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചുനിങ്ങള് ഒന്നും ഭക്ഷിക്കാതെ കാത്തുകൊണ്ടു പട്ടിണി കിടക്കുന്നതു ഇന്നു പതിന്നാലാം ദിവസം ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ.

33. And until day was about to come, Paul begged all to take food, saying, This is the fourteenth day that you continued waiting without food, having taken nothing.

34. അതുകൊണ്ടു ആഹാരം കഴിക്കേണം എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; അതു നിങ്ങളുടെ രക്ഷെക്കുള്ളതല്ലോ; നിങ്ങളില് ഒരുത്തന്റെയും തലയിലെ ഒരു രോമംപോലും നഷ്ടമാകയില്ല നിശ്ചയം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. Therefore I beg you to take some food, for this is for your deliverance. For not a hair of your head shall perish.

35. ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അപ്പം എടുത്തു എല്ലാവരും കാണ്കെ ദൈവത്തെ വാഴ്ത്തിട്ടു നുറുക്കി തിന്നുതുടങ്ങി.

35. And saying these things, and taking bread, he gave thanks to God before all, and breaking, he began to eat.

36. അപ്പോള് എല്ലാവരും ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

36. And all becoming cheered, they also took food.

37. കപ്പലില് ഞങ്ങള് ആകപ്പാടെ ഇരുനൂറ്റെഴുപത്താറു ആള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

37. And we were, all the souls in the ship, two hundred and seventy-six.

38. അവര് തിന്നു തൃപ്തിവന്നശേഷം ധാന്യം കടലില് കളഞ്ഞു കപ്പലിന്റെ ഭാരം കുറെച്ചു.

38. And being filled with food, they lightened the ship, throwing the wheat into the sea.

39. വെളിച്ചമായപ്പോള് ഇന്ന ദേശം എന്നു അവര് അറിഞ്ഞില്ല എങ്കിലും കരയുള്ളോരു തുറ കണ്ടു, കഴിയും എങ്കില് കപ്പല് അതിലേക്കു ഔടിക്കേണം എന്നു ഭാവിച്ചു.

39. And when day came, they did not recognize the land. But they discovered a certain bay with a beach, into which they were minded, if they were able, to drive the ship.

40. നങ്കൂരം അറുത്തു കടലില് വിട്ടു ചുക്കാന്റെ കെട്ടും അഴിച്ചു പെരുമ്പായ് കാറ്റുമുഖമായി കൊടുത്തു കരെക്കു നേരെ ഔടി.

40. And casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea; at the same time they loosened the rudder bands and hoisted up the foresail to the wind and held to the shore.

41. ഇരുകടല് കൂടിയോരു സ്ഥലത്തിന്മേല് ചെന്നു കയറുകയാല് കപ്പല് അടിഞ്ഞു അണിയം ഉറെച്ചു ഇളക്കമില്ലാതെയായി; അമരം തിരയുടെ കേമത്താല് ഉടഞ്ഞുപോയി.

41. And coming on a place between two seas, they drove the vessel. And indeed the prow sticking fast, it remained unmovable. But the stern was broken with the violence of the waves.

42. തടവുകാരില് ആരും നീന്തി ഔടിപ്പോകാതിരിപ്പാന് അവരെ കൊല്ലേണം എന്നു പടയാളികള് ആലോചിച്ചു.

42. And the mind of the soldiers was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out and escape.

43. ശതാധിപനോ പൌലൊസിനെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചിട്ടു അവരുടെ താല്പര്യം തടുത്തു, നീന്തുവാന് കഴിയുന്നവര് ആദ്യം ചാടി കരെക്കു പറ്റുവാനും

43. But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, kept them from their purpose and commanded those who could swim, to throw themselves overboard, to go out on the land.

44. ശേഷമുള്ളവര് പലകമേലും കപ്പലിന്റെ ഖണ്ഡങ്ങളുടെ മേലുമായി എത്തുവാനും കല്പിച്ചു; ഇങ്ങനെ എല്ലാവരും കരയില് എത്തി രക്ഷപ്പെടുവാന് സംഗതിവന്നു.

44. And the rest went, some on boards and others on some of the things from the ship. And so it happened that all were saved on the land.
