1. ഞങ്ങള് കപ്പല് കയറി ഇതല്യെക്കു പോകേണം എന്നു കല്പനയായപ്പോള് പൌലൊസിനെയും മറ്റു ചില തടവുകാരെയും ഔഗുസ്ത്യ പട്ടാളത്തിലെ ശതാധിപനായ യൂലിയൊസിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

1. And when it was cocluded, that we shoulde sayle into Italie, they delyuered both Paul, & certayne other prysoners, vnto one named Iulius, an vnder captayne of Augustus bande.

2. അങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങള് ആസ്യക്കര പറ്റി ഔടുവാനുള്ള ഒരു അദ്ര മുത്ത്യകപ്പലില് കയറി നീക്കി; തെസ്സലൊനിക്കയില് നിന്നുള്ള മക്കെദോന്യക്കാരനായ അരിസ്തര്ഹൊസും ഞങ്ങളുടെക്കുടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

2. And we entred into a shippe of Adramyttium, & loosed from lande, appoynted to sayle by the coastes of Asia, one Aristarchus out of Macedonia, of the countrey of Thessalonia, tarying styll with vs.

3. പിറ്റെന്നു ഞങ്ങള് സീദോനില് എത്തി; യൂലിയൊസ് പൌലൊസിനോടു ദയ കാണിച്ചു, സ്നേഹിതന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പോയി സല്ക്കാരം കൈക്കൊള്വാന് അനുവദിച്ചു.

3. And the next day we came to Sidon: And Iulius curteouslye entreated Paul, and gaue hym libertie to go vnto his friendes, and to refreshe hym selfe.

4. അവിടെ നിന്നു ഞങ്ങള് നീക്കി, കാറ്റു പ്രതിക്കുലമാകയാല് കുപ്രൊസ് ദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ഔടി;

4. And when we had launched from thence, we sayled harde by Cypers, because the wyndes were contrarye.

5. കിലിക്യ പംഫുല്യ കടല്വഴിയായി ചെന്നു ലുക്കിയയിലെ മുറാപ്പട്ടണത്തില് എത്തി.

5. And when we had sayled ouer the sea of Cilicia, and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, which is in Lycia.

6. അവിടെ ശതാധിപന് ഇതല്യെക്കു പോകുന്ന ഒരു അലെക്സന്ത്രിയക്കപ്പല് കണ്ടു ഞങ്ങളെ അതില് കയറ്റി.

6. And there the vnder captayne founde a shippe of Alexandria redy, that sayled into Italie, and he put vs therin.

7. പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങള് ബഹുദിവസം പതുക്കെ ഔടി, ക്നീദൊസ് തൂക്കില് പ്രയാസത്തോടെ എത്തി, കാറ്റു സമ്മതിക്കായ്കയാല് ക്രേത്തദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ശല്മോനെക്കു നേരെ ഔടി,

7. And whe we had sayled slowly many dayes, & scarce were come ouer agaynst Guydum, because ye wynde withstoode vs, we sayled harde by Candie, ouer agaynst Salmo,

8. കരപറ്റി പ്രായസത്തോടെ ലസയ്യപട്ടണത്തിന്റെ സമീപത്തു ശുഭതുറമുഖം എന്നു പേരുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തി.

8. And with much worke sayled beyonde it, and came vnto a place wich is called the Fayre hauens, nye whervnto was the citie of Lasea.

9. ഇങ്ങനെ വളരെ നാള് ചെന്നശേഷം നോമ്പും കഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കെ കപ്പലോട്ടം വൈഷമ്യം ആകകൊണ്ടു പൌലൊസ്

9. When much tyme was spent, & when saylyng was nowe ieopardus, because also that they had ouerlong fasted, Paul put them in remembraunce,

10. പുരുഷന്മാരേ, ഈ യാത്രയില് ചരക്കിന്നും കപ്പലിന്നും മാത്രമല്ല നമ്മുടെ പ്രാണങ്ങള്ക്കും ഏറിയ കഷ്ടനഷ്ടങ്ങള് വരും എന്നു ഞാന് കാണുന്നു എന്നു അവരെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

10. And sayde vnto them: Syrs, I perceaue that this vyage will be with hurt and much damage, not of the ladyng and shippe only, but also of our lyues.

11. ശതാധിപനോ പൌലൊസ് പറഞ്ഞതിനെക്കാള് മാലുമിയുടെയും കപ്പലുടമസ്ഥന്റെയും വാക്കു അധികം വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

11. Neuerthelesse, the vnder captayne beleued the gouernour and the maister of the shippe, more then those thynges which were spoken of Paul.

12. ആ തുറമുഖം ശീതകാലം കഴിപ്പാന് തക്കതല്ലായ്കയാല് അവിടെ നിന്നു നീക്കി തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായും വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായും തുറന്നു കിടക്കുന്ന ഫൊയ്നീക്യ എന്ന ക്രേത്തതുറമുഖത്തു കഴിവുണ്ടെങ്കില് ചെന്നു ശീതകാലം കഴിക്കേണം എന്നു മിക്കപേരും ആലോചന പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And because the hauen was not commodious to wynter in, many toke counsell to depart thence, yf by any meanes they myght attayne to Phenice, & there to winter, which is an hauen of Candie, and lyeth towarde the southwest and northwest wynde.

13. തെക്കന് കാറ്റു മന്ദമായി ഊതുകയാല് താല്പര്യം സാധിച്ചു എന്നു തോന്നി, അവര് അവിടെ നിന്നു നങ്കൂരം എടുത്തു ക്രേത്ത ദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ഔടി.

13. And when the south wynde blewe softly, they supposyng to obtayne their purpose, loosed vnto Asson, and sayled past Candie.

14. കുറെ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അതിന്നു വിരോധമായി ഈശാനമൂലന് എന്ന കൊടങ്കാറ്റു അടിച്ചു.

14. But not long after, there arose against their purpose, a flawe of wynde out of the northeast.

15. കപ്പല് കാറ്റിന്റെ നേരെ നില്പാന് കഴിയാതവണ്ണം കുടുങ്ങുകയാല് ഞങ്ങള് കൈവിട്ടു അങ്ങനെ പാറിപ്പോയി.

15. And when the shippe was caught, and coulde not resist the wynde, we let her go, and were dryuen with the weather.

16. ക്ളൌദ എന്ന ചെറിയ ദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ഔടീട്ടു പ്രയാസത്തോടെ തോണി കൈവശമാക്കി.

16. But we were caryed into an Ile which is named Clauda, and had much worke to come by a boate,

17. അതു വലിച്ചുകയറ്റീട്ടു അവര് കപ്പല് ചുറ്റിക്കെട്ടിയും മറ്റും ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തി; പിന്നെ മണത്തിട്ടമേല് അകപ്പെടും എന്നു പേടിച്ചു പായി ഇറക്കി അങ്ങനെ പാറിപ്പോയി.

17. Which they toke vp, and vsed helpe, and made fast the shippe, fearyng least they shoulde fall into the Syrtes: And so they let downe a vessel, & were caried.

18. ഞങ്ങള് കൊടുങ്കാറ്റിനാല് അത്യന്തം അലയുകകൊണ്ടു പിറ്റെന്നു അവര് ചരകൂ പുറത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.

18. The next day, when we were tossed with an exceading tempest, they lighted the shippe,

19. മൂന്നാം നാള് അവര് സ്വന്തകയ്യാല് കപ്പല്കോപ്പും കടലില് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

19. And the thirde day, we cast out with our owne handes, the tacklyng of the shippe.

20. വളരെ നാളായിട്ടു സൂര്യനെയോ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെയോ കാണാതെയും വല്ലാത്ത കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു അടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടും ഇരിക്കയാല് ഞങ്ങള് രക്ഷപ്പെടും എന്നുള്ള ആശ ഒക്കെയും അറ്റുപോയി.

20. And when neither ye sunne nor starres in many dayes appeared, and no small tempest lay vpon vs, all hope that we should be saued, was then taken away.

21. അവര് വളരെ പട്ടിണി കിടന്നശേഷം പൌലോസ് അവരുടെ നടുവില് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞതുപുരുഷന്മാരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചു ക്രേത്തയില്നിന്നു നീക്കാതെയും ഈ കഷ്ട നഷ്ടങ്ങള് സമ്പാദിക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതായിരുന്നു.

21. But after long abstinence, Paul stoode foorth in the middes of them, and sayde: Syrs, ye shoulde haue harkened to me, & not to haue loosed fro Candie, neither to haue brought vnto vs this harme and losse.

22. എങ്കിലും ഇപ്പോള് ധൈര്യത്തോടിരിപ്പാന് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; കപ്പലിന്നു അല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങളില് ആരുടെയും പ്രാണന്നു ഹാനി വരികയില്ല.

22. And nowe I exhort you to be of good chere: For there shalbe no losse of any mans lyfe among you, but of the shippe.

23. എന്റെ ഉടയവനും ഞാന് സേവിച്ചുവരുന്നവനുമായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതന് ഈ രാത്രിയില് എന്റെ അടുക്കല്നിന്നു

23. For there stoode by me this nyght, the Angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serue,

24. പൌലൊസേ, ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; നീ കൈസരുടെ മുമ്പില് നില്ക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; നിന്നോടുകൂടെ യാത്രചെയ്യുന്നവരെ ഒക്കെയും ദൈവം നിനക്കു ദാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. Saying: Feare not Paul, thou must be brought before Caesar. And lo, God hath geuen thee all them that sayle with thee.

25. അതുകൊണ്ടു പുരുഷന്മാരേ, ധൈര്യത്തോടിരിപ്പിന് ; എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു പോലെ തന്നേ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് ദൈവത്തെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.

25. Wherfore syrs be of good cheare: for I beleue God, that it shalbe euen as it was tolde me.

26. എങ്കിലും നാം ഒരു ദ്വീപിന്മേല് മുട്ടി വീഴേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

26. Howbeit, we must be cast into a certayne Ilande.

27. പതിന്നാലാം രാത്രിയായപ്പോള് ഞങ്ങള് അദ്രിയക്കടലില് അലയുന്നേരം അര്ദ്ധരാത്രിയില് ഒരു കരെക്കു സമീപിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കപ്പല്ക്കാര്ക്കും തോന്നി.

27. But when the fourtenth nyght was come, as we were saylyng in Adria, about mydnyght the shypmen deemed that there appeared some countrey vnto them:

28. അവര് ഈയം ഇട്ടു ഇരുപതു മാറെന്നു കണ്ടു കുറയ അപ്പുറം പോയിട്ടു വീണ്ടും ഈയം ഇട്ടു പതിനഞ്ചു മറ്റൊന്നു കണ്ടു.

28. And sounded, and founde it twentie faddomes. And when they had gone a litle further, they sounded agayne, and founde it fyfteene faddomes.

29. പാറ സ്ഥലങ്ങളില് അകപ്പെടും എന്നു പേടിച്ചു അവര് അമരത്തു നിന്നു നാലു നങ്കൂരം ഇട്ടു, നേരം വെളുപ്പാന് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

29. Then fearyng lest they shoulde haue fallen on some rocke, they caste foure anckers out of the sterne, and wisshed for the day.

30. എന്നാല് കപ്പല്ക്കാര് കപ്പല് വിട്ടു ഔടിപ്പോകുവാന് വിചാരിച്ചു അണിയത്തുനിന്നു നങ്കൂരം ഇടുവാന് പോകുന്നു എന്നുള്ള ഭാവത്തില് തോണി കടലില് ഇറക്കി.

30. And as the shypmen were about to flee out of the shippe, when they had let downe the boate into the sea, vnder a colour, as though they woulde haue cast anckers out of the foreshippe,

31. അപ്പോള് പൌലൊസ് ശതാധിപനോടും പടയാളികളോടുംഇവര് കപ്പലില് താമസിച്ചല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു രക്ഷപ്പെടുവാന് കഴിയുന്നതല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. Paul sayde vnto the vnder captayne, and to the souldiers: Except these abide in the shippe, ye can not be safe.

32. പടയാളികള് തോണിയുടെ കയറു അറുത്തു അതു വീഴിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

32. Then the souldyers cut of the rope of the boate, and let it fall away.

33. നേരം വെളുക്കാറായപ്പോള് പൌലൊസ് എല്ലാവരോടും ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചുനിങ്ങള് ഒന്നും ഭക്ഷിക്കാതെ കാത്തുകൊണ്ടു പട്ടിണി കിടക്കുന്നതു ഇന്നു പതിന്നാലാം ദിവസം ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ.

33. And when the day began to appeare, Paul besought them all to take meate, saying: This is the foureteenth day, that ye haue taryed & continued fasting, receauyng nothyng at all.

34. അതുകൊണ്ടു ആഹാരം കഴിക്കേണം എന്നു ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; അതു നിങ്ങളുടെ രക്ഷെക്കുള്ളതല്ലോ; നിങ്ങളില് ഒരുത്തന്റെയും തലയിലെ ഒരു രോമംപോലും നഷ്ടമാകയില്ല നിശ്ചയം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. Wherfore, I pray you to take meate, for this no doubt is for your health: for there shall not an heere fall from the head of any of you.

35. ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അപ്പം എടുത്തു എല്ലാവരും കാണ്കെ ദൈവത്തെ വാഴ്ത്തിട്ടു നുറുക്കി തിന്നുതുടങ്ങി.

35. And when he had thus spoken, he toke bread, and gaue thankes to God in presence of them all: And when he had broken it, he began to eate.

36. അപ്പോള് എല്ലാവരും ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

36. Then were they all of good cheare, and they also toke meate.

37. കപ്പലില് ഞങ്ങള് ആകപ്പാടെ ഇരുനൂറ്റെഴുപത്താറു ആള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

37. And we were altogether in the shippe, two hudred threescore & sixteene soules.

38. അവര് തിന്നു തൃപ്തിവന്നശേഷം ധാന്യം കടലില് കളഞ്ഞു കപ്പലിന്റെ ഭാരം കുറെച്ചു.

38. And when they had eaten enough, they lyghted the shippe, and cast out the wheate into the sea.

39. വെളിച്ചമായപ്പോള് ഇന്ന ദേശം എന്നു അവര് അറിഞ്ഞില്ല എങ്കിലും കരയുള്ളോരു തുറ കണ്ടു, കഴിയും എങ്കില് കപ്പല് അതിലേക്കു ഔടിക്കേണം എന്നു ഭാവിച്ചു.

39. And when it was day, they knewe not the lande: but they spyed a certayne hauen with a banke, into the which they were mynded, yf it were possible, to thrust in the shippe.

40. നങ്കൂരം അറുത്തു കടലില് വിട്ടു ചുക്കാന്റെ കെട്ടും അഴിച്ചു പെരുമ്പായ് കാറ്റുമുഖമായി കൊടുത്തു കരെക്കു നേരെ ഔടി.

40. And when they had taken vp the anckers, they committed [themselues] vnto the sea, and loosed the rudder bondes, and hoyssed vp the mayne sayle to the wynde, and drewe to lande.

41. ഇരുകടല് കൂടിയോരു സ്ഥലത്തിന്മേല് ചെന്നു കയറുകയാല് കപ്പല് അടിഞ്ഞു അണിയം ഉറെച്ചു ഇളക്കമില്ലാതെയായി; അമരം തിരയുടെ കേമത്താല് ഉടഞ്ഞുപോയി.

41. And when they fell into a place which had the sea on both sydes, they thrust in the shippe: And the forepart stucke fast & moued not, but the hynder part brake with the violence of the waues.

42. തടവുകാരില് ആരും നീന്തി ഔടിപ്പോകാതിരിപ്പാന് അവരെ കൊല്ലേണം എന്നു പടയാളികള് ആലോചിച്ചു.

42. And the souldiers counsel was to kyll the prysoners, lest any of them, when he had swomme out, should runne away.

43. ശതാധിപനോ പൌലൊസിനെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചിട്ടു അവരുടെ താല്പര്യം തടുത്തു, നീന്തുവാന് കഴിയുന്നവര് ആദ്യം ചാടി കരെക്കു പറ്റുവാനും

43. But the vnder captayne wyllyng to saue Paul, kept the from their purpose, & commaunded that they which coulde swymme, shoulde cast them selues first into the sea, and scape to lande:

44. ശേഷമുള്ളവര് പലകമേലും കപ്പലിന്റെ ഖണ്ഡങ്ങളുടെ മേലുമായി എത്തുവാനും കല്പിച്ചു; ഇങ്ങനെ എല്ലാവരും കരയില് എത്തി രക്ഷപ്പെടുവാന് സംഗതിവന്നു.

44. And the other, some on boordes, and some on broke peeces of the shippe. And so it came to passe, that they escaped all safe to lande.
